Multiple editors - one finalcut project

I read in the finalcutserver product overview;
http://images.apple.com/finalcutserver/docs/FinalCut_Server_ProductOverview.pdf
this:
"Working with multiple Final Cut Pro editors
Multiple Final Cut Pro editors can work on different sections of a film or video production at the same time by creating a separate project for each section. These projects all share the same referenced assets, with no need for additional copies or storage. When the sequences are finished, the separate projects can be assembled into a single master project for further editing and delivery. Version management makes it easy to revert to a previous version for each defined section of the program."
But when I have installed FCServer and read the manual I can't see any reference to this functionality.
Had anyone else gotten this to work and in that case how?

It works pretty much as you described in your question. Here is one possible way.
First, the lead editor or assistant makes a FCP project. They give it the right name according to your show ID procedures. They make a Master sequence that is the proper format then they make other sequences that are placed into (nested) the Master sequence. These sub-sequences are broken out by the shows format (title segment, segment 01, 02... end credits) now the lead editor assigns these sub-sequences to the other editors. The assistant brings all assets for this show into FCP and then uploads the project to FCserver. Now each editor works on their sub-sequence and there work appears in the Master sequence. If at some point it's determine that a previous version of a segment was better then the current on just revert to that version.
You may have to manually up-date the Master sequence as the versioning may change the sub-sequence name and thus not show in the Master sequence. You of course could just wait until all the sub-sequences are approved then make a master sequence.

  • Multiple editors on one project

Is it possible for two people, on two computers, to work on one FCP project at the same time? If so how.

Duplicate the media to a second drive and attach it to the second computer. BE SURE TO APPEND A LETTER OR SOMETHING to the file name so you do not confuse versions.
Example: computer a cuts sequences 1,2,3, computer b cuts 4,5, and 6. Sooner or later you're going to have to join it all together-- move the project file from b to a, open it and copy the sequences needed to whatever will be the master project.
it really helps to have the same file structure on the two drives so you won't have reconnection issues.
    Or get a SAN

As much as I hate to admit it, YOU ARE RIGHT!
I will tread lightly on this project.

  • Multiple Web Services in one Jdeveloper project

    Hi all,
I'm currently trying to implement a series of web services, all relating to one application. I'm using the top-down approach, where I generate the web service from a WSDL file, and add my implementation to the generated classes. The WSDL file imports all sorts of XML Schemas (xsd-files) and Jdeveloper correctly generates all the necessary java-classes for me. Lets call the first web service I create WS-1.
This all works fine and I'm a happy panda. I can call the web service, it works, I can modif the wsdl and regenerate the web service to e.g. change the input etc. All this works.
Just until the point where I want to create a second web service (lets call this WS-2). This new web service doesn't use all the XML Schemas that the first web service does, it is more simple with regards to in-/output. The problem arises when I modify WS-2 and Jdeveloper regenerates the Web service files (.java and the files in the WEB-INF/wsdl-directory). When I do this, it deletes the imported xsd-files that WS-1 uses (removes them from WEB-INF/wsdl).
And when I regenerate WS-1 to get my xsd-files in again, then when I regenerate WS-2 it imports all the unnecessary xsd-files into the wsdl for WS-2.
Something tells me, that there is a connection or shared library between all web services in one Jdeveloper project. That they all imports and uses the xsd-files in WEB-INF/wsdl.
Is this true? Can't I have multiple web services (and wsdl-files) using different types (schema definitions) in the the same Jdeveloper project?
One solution I can think of, is to have all my web services in different projects under the same application. But is this really necessary?
    I'm using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3.0.

    Hi,
pure from a coder instinct I think I would prefer them to be in separate projects for better reuse and clean separation. If I need project 1 to access aclass from Project 2, I can check the dependency check box in the project properties. Is there any business requirement that makes you think having all of these in a single project will help ?

Btw.: I agree that JDeveloper shouldn't constraint developers from doing what they want and if this is a limitation the feel free to file a bug

  • (CHaRM) multiple landscapes in one maintenance project

    Dear solman experts,
I know that it is possible to have one global maintenance project supporting multiple landscapes with the scenario CHaRM, instead of one maintenance project for one landscape. My question is what are the specific configurations to keep in mind when performing the configuration? And what are the consequences e.g. Can I still use the Change Document types urgent and normal correction or is it limited to only the normal correction due to complexity?
I hope someone can help me this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ricky

    Hi
Yes it is possible................ with maintenance project you get normal, admin and urgent correction types
only with implementation projects you get normal & admin only and no urgent corrections
Secondly you have to create logical component for each system landscape and add all of them to your single project
    e.g
SAP ECC landscape LC1 Dev 100 QA 200 PRD 300
SAP BI landscape Lc2 dev 100 qa 200 prd 300
    etc
Note one logical component can store only one system landscape information not all systems
so add all of them in one project and activate charm.
now whenever the ticket is created ....developer can choose the system in which they want to create a TR ......and based upon LC it knows which is right Quality and prd.
Morver never forget .....Solman domain controller is master and it uses the same TMS setup which you for satellite system without charm.
    hope its clear now
    regards

  • Consolidate tracks from multiple .Band projects onto one .band project

    The subject says it all:
how do I Consolidate tracks from multiple .Band projects onto one .band project?? I've got 4-5 tracks which are each seperate podcasts on one .band file. I need to add a few tracks from a different .band file (because they're podcasts that are part of the same podcast series project). How do I consolidate them? Tried copy/paste the track, didn't work. Thanks a TON!!!!!!!!

you can copy and paste, it just take a little more effort to do what you want. read the tute on rescuing files and you'll see how to move one project into another:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/Tutorials.html#allaboutrescuingfiles
then create the needed tracks for the next project and move them into the right positions, etc.

  • Combining multiple projects into one larger project?

If I have multiple separate projects and now want to combine them, edits, titles and all into a larger project, is it possible? I expected that it might be possible to drag one project into another and place it intact onto the timeline for the new project. Since every combination of dragging a project around has evidently failed to accomplish what I'm expecting... is there a way to do this?

welcome phiphika to the  board…
in terms of convenience, I would indeed export/share all 6 movies.
    to tape, or as Quicktime/FullQuality…
both methods create a lossless copy of your final movie(s).
in step II, import all 6 project into a new iM project, as said above, you don't loose ay quality with that back'n forth copying... only some time ;-)… you can set then chapter markers etc....
besides, your workflow is as mine on larger projects: not 678 clips into one monstrous project of some dozends Gigabytes, just segments…

  • How do you import multiple iMovie projects into one iDVD project?

    Hi.
I'm 17, and am trying to create a DVD of when the family went on a cruise. For different places/days, I've created different iMovie projects.
But, when I want to export to iDVD, it only lets me put one iMovie project into one iDVD project?
I've tried dragging the actual iMovie project files into iDVD but that doesn't work.
I know I could export to QuickTime and then drag it into iDVD, but it seems exporting just to iDVD is much quicker, and the quality is better.
Anyone know how I can do this?
    cheers
+P.S. If it helps, it's iMovie '11 with iDVD '09.+

That is not true. You can use them all in one DVD. I have just created my first DVD which has a trailer, a movie with chapters and several different slide shows.
All you have to do is save each project to Media Browser. (Choose Share in toolbar). Open iDVD and choose your theme or no theme. On the right will be all your options such as audio, media photo's etc. Choose your various video's/projects etc and just drag and drop which ones you want to the page and they will automatically put themselves there with the given name of each video/project.

  • Multiple connections in one BC4J Project

I want to access several Databases from one BC4J-Project.
For example I want to write an application, which collects data from one database, does some computation and stores the results in a second database.
I would prefer to use BC4J-Components for both, the source and the target database, but unfortunately I can select only one connection per BC4J-Project.
Has anyone got an idea, how I can access more than one database-connection from one BC4J-Project without having to write all the JDBC-Stuff on my own? JDev-Team, can you please give a hint?

Among other things, the BC4J Configuration defines the name of the JDBC connection to use. To solve your problem, you can create two Configurations one for each database. The JDBC connection value will be the only different element between these two Configurations. To create a BC4J Configuration in JDeveloper, right click on the AppModule node and then click Configurations...,
Use oracle.jbo.client.Configuration class to create AppModules connected to the database you want.,
    import oracle.jbo.*;
    import oracle.jbo.client.Configuration;
    String am = "demo.DemoModule"; // Fully-qualified application module name
// Configuration name with JDBC connection to source database
    String cf1 = "DemoModuleSourceDb";
    ApplicationModule amSrc = Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(am,cf1);
// Configuration name with JDBC connection to dest database
    String cf2 = "DemoModuleDestDb";
    ApplicationModule amDest = Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(am,cf2);
Note that the AM name can also be different if you want.
    Hope this helps,
    Sathish.

  • Fastest way to add multiple images, one after the other, in DW5.5

There has to be a faster way to add multiple images, one after the other, in a web page rather than just dragging each from the Files tab w/in DW 5.5
I was a little surprized I couldn't select multiple images and just drag a block and have DW just insert an img tag with empty alts and the source path but maybe there is some options I just haven't found?
I tried using Bridge to generate a quick html slideshow/gallery but it creates skads of divs and such... I just have to update an older site and was looking for an efficient way to add a bunch of images (random names ugh so just copying-pasting one and changing names is still more manual) that lie next to each other, no breaks inbetween....seems an ideal automated situation.
I'd settle for an external script or app or something because they come in blocks of 25 approx and I have all my actions in PS set up to size appropriately which is nice so I just wondered if there was something good for this low-level production task.
    Thanks

Thanks. Yes, I started writing a script but I just wondered if there were hidden gems in DW....so many programs do more than they are intended to do nowadays, I had to ask people who use it more!
Actually, the fastest was to just dupe one line of code, paste x amount and then just use the pick-wip to point and drag. That at least cut the menu out of the equation.
I thought I remembered doing a batch insert years ago..maybe in GoLive or before Adobe had DW? DW and GoLive are the only GUI html editors I've ever used..but, may it was just something out of an ealier photoshop...they've taken good stuff out and put good stuff in so many times that I can only remember so much!

  • Multiple Lesson Course- Separate projects?

I just realized that you cannot have multiple quizzes in one project, and am hoping for some advice.  I have a course that has many lessons, with a quiz at the end of each lesson.  Originally I planned on it being one big project, but that can't happen because of the quiz restriction.  Should I make each lesson its own file? Is there a way to link them together with a table of contents like I was planning on?  Any suggestions??
    Thanks!

    Hi.
I think Aggregator can solve your problem very well.
    Steps:
    1. Create Captivate projects, one for each of your lessons(containing Quiz at the end). Publish them and generate each of its SWF files.
    2. Create a new Aggregator project from File>New>Aggregator project.
    3. Add these SWFs to your Aggregator project.
    4. Publish the Aggregator project.
This would give you a single SWF/EXE file, which would contain all your lessons listed in the TOC, with their own quizzes.
    Thanks

  • How do I split a single event with many clips into multiples events, one event per date?

I archived the video from my AVCHD camera into a Final Cut video archive. Later I imported this into iMovie. All the clips from this archive (spanning several months) are dumped into a single event. If I recall, older versions of iMovie would import video into separate events for each day. Then I would go through and give each event a meaningful name (e.g., "Mary's Birthday").
This is what I would like. Is there a way to split this very long event into multiple events, one for each day that is present in the event?

Not automatically but with imovie 10 you can create new events with any name you like then move clips into them from other events  (Just like FCP 10.1).   See:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#mov1d890f00b
You can also choose to display clips in an event grouped by date.

  • How do I update a waveform chart with multiple plots one point at a time?

    Hi,
I am updating multiple plots one point at a time.  That is, every time I update the chart I have a value for one of the plots.  If I put in a cluster with NaN for each of the charts except the one with the data I can only get individual points on the chart.  I would rather have them connected.
Any clues?  The only thing I can think of is to delay the update and do interpolation between samples - too complicated for me.
    Thanks

Are the points within a given plot equally spaced in time?  If so, perhaps you need to maintain your own history of the data and used a waveform graph rewriting the history data to the graph each time.  If the points are unequally spaced, then you will need to do it as an XY graph.

  • Uploading multiple items one at a time - file view resets

In my work, I need to upload many files, one at a time, using an interface through the browser.
When I go to upload multiple files, one at a time, using 10.6.2, the Finder takes me back one or two levels down from the file location between uploads. In 10.4, the Finder always took me back to the folder last accessed.
Is there a Preference, Shareware like TinkerTool, or a Terminal Command I can use so that I always go back to the folder last accessed?

OK. Wow. I did not realize the question was so obtuse. Feel free to ask for clarification (no reason to be nasty or flame me).
    "what mechanism is being used"
In my original post, I did say I was uploading via a browser. So I don't know if this clarifies for you or not.
    Using Firefox or Safari.
Uploading photos, one at a time, to a website that uses the browser (rather than FTP).
In OS 10.4.11, after each photo, I would upload a second one and the dialog box would open up to the same folder as the previous upload, greatly simplifying the process.
In OS 10.6.3, after each photo, I would go to upload a second photo and the dialog box would open one level down, or sometimes seemingly randomly, two levels down. This requires me to navigate back to the folder with the photos which greatly increases the amount of time between each upload.
It would be helpful if I could show photos to explain.
I am not certain that this really clarifies my original posting. Does this make sense or do you need more info?
