You can both use Gmail nd swith users or use the gmail app and another email app

  • Do I need Open Directory for multiple email addresses for Calendar users?

    Hey all,
I have a single mac mini which I use simply as a calendar server for +/- 20 users. One day I might use Profile Manager to manage their iOS devices too. On the initial installation, we enabled Open Directory, although I'm not sure that it's required, and we have no plans re using it to manage network logins etc aside from existing calendaring.
I'm working through a migration from a Lion Server.app install to Mavericks, and due to some data corruption issues, we'll probably just rebuild the server and reimport the users calendars.
On my existing Lion Server installation, I can still use workgroup manager to assign multiple email addresses to calendar users, so that when a user invites another user to a calendar event using any of their email addresses (we have several variations), the invitation still gets pushed to the correct calendar user.
On Mavericks, without installing Open Directory, it seems I can't do this (I've downloaded Workgroup Manager for Mavericks, but it obviously can't connect to a local open directory). If Open Directory is optional, I'd rather not install it, to avoid overhead and complexity, but I still need a way to manage these multiple email addresses (aliases doesn't cut it).
    Any ideas / suggestions?
    Thanks,
    D

For Calendar server to send actual email invitations to an attendee, two things must happen:
First, you need to configure Server.app > Calendar > Enable invitations by email.  Enabling that will bring up a wizard dialog that will step you through the IMAP and SMTP account settings.  The default values in that wizard will tell Calendar server to use the local Mail server (which you then would have to configure to use the appropriate SMTP relay, etc.).  Or you can change the wizard settings to refer to an external IMAP and SMTP server.  It is wise to use a dedicated IMAP account for Calendar server's use -- don't go using someone's personal IMAP account because there might be some "undesirable interactions", let's say.  If you need help configuring this for, say, a Gmail account, I can help with that.
Second, the email address for the attendee must *not* be known to Calendar server, i.e. it should *not* be in the Directory.  As you probably found out, if Calendar server sees that the attendee has an email address that is in the Directory, the attendee is considered to be "local" and the invitation will be delivered directly to the attendee's calendar client.  If you simply leave those other email variations out of the Directory, Calendar server will consider that attendee "remote" and will send an actual email with a special attachment that calendar clients can understand.
    Hope that helps.

  • Multiple email accounts for iCal notifications

I have multiple email accounts. I would like to be able to use the email account of my preference when sending a notification for a calendar (meeting) invitation. I would like to be able to select the preferred email account for every invitation I send.
This is not possible on iCloud (never was possible on iCal either).
    Thanks

I too have the same request of Apple's programmers.  It is very nearly 2012.  I believe Outlook has had this capability for at least the latst decade.  I've spent the better part of the last two days going through every thread on these boards, and I've tried everything - none of it works.  This shouldn't be that difficult.
What I think is the problem is this:
iCal uses my "APPLE ID" email.  It is the only possible explanation because THAT is the email that iCal sends from, every time.  I've deleted that ID from my "ME" card, it's been removed from the previous recipients list, it does not exist on this computer EXCEPT for being related to my Apple ID.
Simply being able to select which email I send an invite FROM would be a huge advancement in iCal.  I have a number of calenders in iCal, most of which sync with iCloud.  I should be able to select the from email every time I set up an invite, or at least be able to select a default send from email for each calendar.  This shouldn't be rocket science.
Does Apple ever read these boards?  There are threads back to 2009!

I want to secure my e-mail account for other users of the i-pad....
    Is this possible???

    no.
The only way is if you use a webmail app - not the included e-mail app - so you can password protect it online.
The iPad is meant to be a single user device so it has no protocols to partition off any part of it (beyond what restrictions allow)

  • Setting up different e-mail accounts for different users?

    Hello:
I have three different users with three loggin id's on my iMac. My e-mail account is set up so that I get all e-mail on my mac when I log in. Can I set up the other 2 users with their own e-mail addresses? How?
    Thanks

You would have to have your ISP set up addresses for them, then they can configure Mail or what ever program you use, to pick it up using their own identities.

  • How do I combine Thunderbird setups each accessing different sets of multiple email accounts on 2 old computers into one Thunderbird setup on my new computer?

The laptop accesses my personal email accounts (4 different ones) and my business email accounts (2 different ones). The old desktop accesses my personal email accounts and my wife's emails (2 accounts for her). I now have a new desktop computer and I would like to access all accounts from a single Thunderbird. It would be extremely tedious to start a new Thunderbird and enter all the account information for all of these multiple accounts from a fresh start and re-download all the emails. I know I can backup the Thunderbird profiles separately and restore them to separate Thunderbird instances on two separate users, but it is a pain to switch users each time one of us needs to see a different email account. If the multiple accounts cannot be restored into a singe new Thunderbird instance, is there a way to set up two Thunderbird instances on a single user's desktop and restore one computer's backup into one Thunderbird and the other into the second? Thank you.

Setting up the accounts anew in a fresh installation is probably the least tedious part of all this.
Merging your various email stores is ikely to involve moving gigabytes of data. You don't want to do that piecemeal.
I'd start with the most recent of your profiles and install that into the new Thunderbird. Then I'd add the required accounts whilst the old computers are accessible to double-check their settings for the accounts.
Then I'd import the mail stores from the older profiles using https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/
You haven't indicated if any or many of these accounts use IMAP, in which case all you need to do is set up the account on the new computer and the stored data will find its own way in.
While you have all your old profiles marshalled, it would be worth your while to import address book files too, using: https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html to retrieve the *.mab files.

  • Is there a way to get multiple email accounts on the front page of my Iphone?  Also I would like to have different sounds when I receive mail in the different accounts. Is this possible?

Is there a way to get multiple email accounts on the front page of my iphone instead of just the generic mail icon?  Also is there a way to get a different alert sound for each email?

    No.
You need to review this (WYSISWG):

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • Best practice for multiple email accounts

    Hello
I have set up a Mac mini server with virtual hosts. So, how is the best practice to set up email accounts for each host? I want to have emails like
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    and
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    and so on.
Should I create groups for each domain, and then user "info" and "contact" in each group. Or just add a user something like "infomysite1" and have a second short name "[email protected]"
    Advices are welcome
    Best regards, Magnus

If user1@domain1 and user1@domain2 are the same person then you just add the other domain to Hosting-> Local Host Aliases. Same user will get all mail for both domains.
However, I'm presuming that the user1@domain1 and user1@domain2 are two separate people (i.e., same name but different mail account). If so...
See Chapter: A Mail Service Virtual Host in Apple's Mail Services Administration PDF download at http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/resources/documentation.html
Also, see MakingVirtual_Mail_Users_in_OS_XServer.pdf from http://osx.topicdesk.com (downloads sections)
The topicdesk pdf was written for 10.5 server but I think it is still applicable to 10.6 (but follow the Apple doc just in case). However, it is good for explaining why you might want postfix-style aliases rather than the simpler Apple server-style aliases.

How do I set individual sound alerts for multiple email accounts?

    Here: http://www.guidingtech.com/15275/get-different-notifications-per-mail-account-io s-6/
Long and short of it, the settings can be individually changed under Notifications. Select Mail and then the account you want to change the sound to.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID.

  • How do I enter multiple email addresses for a Firefox Sync account?

How do I enter my multiple email addresses for one Firefox Sync account?

Sorry, but Address Book does not allow you to select more than one email address to send to in a group. There's really no reason why people need multiple copies of a message, anyway; they have the option of forwarding email to another email address of theirs.
