Multiple EtherCAT Masters

Hi all,
I'm currently using a cRIO-9074 to control my system. Now, we have a requirement to integrate our system with some automation, controlled by a Beckhoff controller. The proposed and agreed communication method between these two devices is via EtherCAT. However, I just realized that cRIO-9074 cannot be configured as EtherCAT slave. So now, the question is can I configure the cRIO to accept from multiple masters (cRIO and Beckhoff controller both act as EtherCAT masters)? If this is possible, may I know how?
Thank you.
Shazlan

Some are slow changing (status, alarms, etc.) and some are fast (high priority commands, feedbacks). I've read that Beckhoff has this Ethercat bridge that allow multiple masters but we are not sure whether it can be integrated with NI's or not. Currently, we have opted for OPC (for slow changing) & DIO (for fast changing).
To start with, is what I wanted to do even possible using EtherCAT technology?

  • Can you assign multiple customer masters to one Business Partner in R/3?

We are trying to configure SAP Business Partners in ECC5.0 but it seems the relationship between a business partner and a customer master is one-to-one so a business partenr cannot have multiple customers (table BD001 only allows for a single entry).  Does anyone know if it's possible to assign multiple customer masters to one business partner?  If so, is there any documentation available?

  • Commitment Items for Multiple services in Service PO

    Hi,
We have created a service master for all the services used in a project. FM is activated. Every service has 1:1 relation with commitment items.
Even after table look up & derivation, system was not picking up correct commitment item in service PO. We have used some exits & BADI's, Now system checks picks the correct commitment item stored in FMDERIVE against the service master.
The issue is, the moment I have multiple service masters in a single service PO with two separate comm. Item.  System picks up the commitment item of only for line item 0010 & posts both the entries against one comm. item.
Let me know how system can pick up individual commt items.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ajay

    Hi Ajay,
I believe that there is one standard solution for what you developed. Let me explain better.
Please check your table FM01X. You can enable one these flags in table FM01X, depending on your business needs:
FLG_PO_PROTECT if you want to always inherit the fm account assignment from the reference PO and therefore skip FMDERIVE
FLG_FMDERIVE_FORCE if you always want to force a call to fmderive in all cases
FLG_SES_OVERWRITE in services, if you wish to overwrite the account assignment from the SES with the derived values from FMDERIVE.
You can find more information in note 1146677 and 923672. Please review the information of the notes and run the programs
    according your needs.
FMDERIVE is skipped for GR/IR lines and the Commitment item is inherited from the PO regardless of whether or not the GR/IR line is FM relevant. This is SAP standard behavior.
If you want to force the Commitment item to be derived from the GL account for the GR/IR line, you can use the FLG_FMDERIVE_FORCE flag as described in note 923672.  This will allow FMDERIVE to be called for these lines.  Please be sure to fully test this to ensure that FM account assignments that you do not want to be overwritten are
    not incorrectly derived.
Bear in mind that for PO´s that does not have account assignment you should run FMCN/FMCT + FMN4N. For this you would need to check the flags and which one is more related to your needs. With the appropriate flag marked in FM01X (active with X) you should be able to run the transactions without any issue.
Based on note 189761, after doing all the previous suggestions and the issue does not appear anymore, I suggest you to run the programs described in the note.
I believe that this will help you.
    Best Regards,
    Vanessa.

  • Multiple Item Master Organizations

We are working on an Oracle Implementation for a large firm in South Korea.
Our client covers many different industires and operate nationally,
it is inevitable to use Multi-Organization structure.
And we are also considering implementing multiple item master organizations
under one installation of Oracle applications.
( Acutally We have 1 Set Of Books, 1 Legal Entity, 13 Operating Units )
Cause there are much difference between chemical industry and Heavy Industry,
Our Client says it just has little business impacts with 2 separate item master organizations.
But According to Oracle documents, Oracle does recommend not to difine
    multiple item masters.
We are not sure if there could be much functional or technical impacts with multiple item master organizations.
Cause we have no reference site here in Korea.
Has anyone been involved in this type of situation before?
Are there any other points for considerations?
We would very appreciate hearing from you ASAP.
    Thank you

I am not sure if i understood everything but I would say go with single item master. Its simple & easily to manage item attribute later on.

  • Applying multiple themes in powerpoint?

Does anyone know how to apply multiple slide themes or multiple slide masters to one powerpoint presentation?

Yes or export as individual QT movie files and joint them with iMovie, QT Pro or a 3rd party app just for joining movies.

  • EtherCAT EL7201

    Hi
My system consists of a NI cRIO – 9082 which is acting as the EtherCAT Master. The cRIO is then connected to a BeckHoff  EtherCAT coupler EK1100. Off this EK1100 I have multiple EtherCAT slaves which I can communicate to without problems (EL1008. EL2008, EL3008 and EL4008). However the EL7201 module fails to enter the ‘safe operational’ state.  I believe the issue is related to distributed clocks on the EtherCAT slave. I have enabled the distributed clock (DE) on the module however I am unable to enable the enable the  distributed clock on the Ethercat coupler (the option is greyed out).
I would be regretful is anyone can spot what I am doing wrong? or could give some advice on how to interface with a EL7201 module via LabVIEW?
    Thanks
    Dave B

    Hi Dave,
Interfacing with Third party hardware often involves some extra configuration time. I found a forum which might help you out -http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/cRIO-9067-and-Bernecker-Rainer-EtherCAT-slave/m-p/3038835#M866641  . For instance do you have your cRIO scan mode set to configuration mode ?
Here is a white paper on Adding Third-Party EtherCAT® Slaves in LabVIEW - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/FDA1318A8909D02C862574510060DB62?OpenDocument
I will continue to look into your problem but wanted to send your some resources for you to look at in the mean time.

  • Ethercat com's between cRIO 9025's

    Hello,
I am setting up a control system in which I desire to communicate between two cRIO 9025 controllers via shared variables.  Can EtherCAT be used for this?  Would the controllers be directly connected (with cross-over cable?) or would there be a hub or switch involved?
Also, both controllers need to communicate with an HMI running Windows XP.  I was planning on using the Ethernet port's on the controllers for that.  How do you control what variables are seen on EtherCAT vs. Ethernet?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
EtherCAT is a specialized protocol for deterministic Ethernet communication. The 9025 controller may be configured as an EtherCAT Master; however, 2 EtherCAT Masters cannot be connected. The 9025 may be connect to the 9144 expansion chassis for EtherCAT communication.
With 2 controllers, you may use a router for network communications; such that, each controller may host network shared variables. Each controller will act as a separate system on the network, much like a PC network in an office.
Hope this helps. Please post back any additional questions.
    Cheers!

  • Better results than you could achieve in a real-time onlining suite?

Another for Zeb and anyone else who cares about color. HD for Indies (http://www.hdforindies.com/) reviews The DV Rebel's Guide by Stu Maschwitz. In a section, "Why so AE centric when such a pain - why not do in FCP?", Mike Curtis pseudo-interviews Stu, who says "When onlining, the rule is the polar opposite: no amount of render time is too much to endure in the name of increased image quality. I detail some techniques for extracting every last bit of luminance range from your video source, removing color subsampling artifacts (without plug-ins), and a complete pipeline for multiple digital masters. If you follow these guidelines you can actually achieve better results than you could in an expensive real-time onlining suite."
He is talking about the poor boy with a three year old laptop for whom long render times don't cost too much. Sounds like me.
    Comment?

I have a valid example data file attached to this thread.
    If you open BEXTEST.bin in a hex-editor of your choice, you'll see the BEXUS as 42 45 58 55 53 and then the time as 00 28 09 etc.
I couldn't get Joe Guo's VI to work. It doesn't count packages correctly, and the time is not displayed correctly either.
The file was saved using a straight save to file VI.
The data is from actual launching area tests performed a few mintues ago. The time displayed is "On time" e.g. how long the gondola has been powered up.
I have a spare T-junction, so I can hook into the balloon real-time data as we fly, in case anyone care to see if they can figure out why the latest version of Joe Guo's program is not displaying correctly.
    I will monitor this
thread during and after flight to see if anyone can make it in time!
    Thanks for the great effort!!

  • Can an contact person be independent of a customer master

    Hi,
I need to create a contact person that will be used by multiple customer masters. Is it possible to set up an independent customer master and then reference it within the partner funcitons of an e.g. sold-to?
    Regards,
    Gary

    Hi,
You can create a contact person using the transaction code VAP1. This contact person can be assigned in the partner tab of customer master, you can assign it where ever you want.
Path: Logistics-->Sales and Distribution -->Master data ---> Business Partner --> Contact Person --Create contact person.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Asset Number at sub numbers

    Hello Gurus,
Our client requires asset at sub number level e.g. Asset Class Furniture & Fixtures.
Asset number starts with 1000 and if their are 2000 tables in an organisation, it would be done thru sub asset concept. So my table asset will be grouped under Asset Code 1000.0 and all the child asset at sub level will be like 1000.01, 1000.02, till 1000.2000. So they can get a unique number range for all asset.
First thing I would like to ask whether is advisable or not? Because, our client are having chairs in lakhs. So whether I can have asset number as 1001.100000 or not to group the chairs (1001). Will their be any system restriction for numbers?
Kindly suggest me in this matter.
    Thanks and Regards
    Vinayak Vaidya

    Hi,
Asset sub number can have maximum of 4 digits. means it will be like 1000-9999 according to you.
But as far as business process is concern most of the companies will not create multiple asset masters/sub numbers for each and individual chair or table.
Since SAP does not have check for creating as many as main asset numbers, but only 9999 sub numbers can be created.
I would suggest you to create one asset (1000-0) and put the quantity of chairs in that asset master, means quantity 100000 and BUM is NOS, since chair itself is a low value asset. But some companies straight way depreciate them in full during the acquisition year only by creating as a LVA asset, which must have dep key as GWG. It is a standard SAP deliveried dep key for LVA assets.
This will be more easy and causes less database occupancy within AA module. And most important thing is while running depreci\ation runs also it will be quicker than if it have 100000 sub assets.
    Hope you got my point.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • WDS and number of APs

Is it possible to have multiple WDS servers in one subnet?
I was wondering if entering an IP address at the option "Specified Discovery" for all APs could make it possible to have APs register themselves to a specified WDS AP in one subnet? My client will go well above the max of 60 WDS APs per server.

    Hi Bas,
Here is an excerpt from a Cisco document that addresses this issue:
How many infrastructure access points (APs) can a single WDS manage?
A single WDS AP can support a maximum of 60 infrastructure APs when the radio interface is disabled. The number drops to 30 if the AP that acts as the WDS AP also accepts client associations.
Can I set up more than 60 access points (APs) in a WDS that uses AP-based WDS?
Do not use more than 60 APs on one WDS master. You can run into CPU utilization problems with more than 60 APs. You can have multiple WDS masters, but they need to be on different subnets. An example is the use of:
One WDS master and 30 APs on 10.10.10.10
Another WDS master and 30 APs on 10.10.20.20
In this case, the issue is that you cannot fast roam between WDS domains.

  • Changes to moving average price

    Dear All,
I need to have a report showing Changes to moving average price for multiple material masters. Please suggest me if there is any standard way of getting it. Or from some tables i can take values.
    Regards
    MSR

    Hi,
I think there is no std report to find out the MAP of the material. But however you can find the map using MBEW table for that material at that instance. Also you may try to use MDEWH to know the MAP for any period (like previous periods). The downlosd may give you some picture about MAP changes.

    Hi Experts,
Please provide me input on the following
    1.  Can we have / maintain  Alternate Unit of Measure for Service Master as we have in Material Master.
    2.  In case if it is poosible to have Alternate UOM for Service Master, kindly suggest the proceess of maintaining Alternate UOM for Service Masters.
    3.  Please provide some input on the internal work tab in Service Master and its functionality and its applikcation.
    Regards,
    M. Suresh

    HI Manohar,
Thank you for reply.  My requirement is that can we maintain Alternate Unit Of Measure in the Service Master as we have in Material Master.
The scenario is we are to avail consultancy services.  The Consultancy service can be availed based on Hours, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly.
My requirement is that i create only one service master for Consulting and need to have the option of having AUM as above without creating multiple Service Masters for Consultancy based on UOM.

  • Applying masters to multiple spreads

    Hey guys,
Working in VB, InD CS3. I have a feeling this is like the 'ol autoflow thing, but here goes.
I can script the application of a master to multiple pages by iterating through the pages or spreads, but it runs to slow (not that I'm impatient or anything).
I'm wondering if there is an equivalent to using the "Apply Masters to Pages..." option from the pages panel which goes nearly instantly even on some of our longer documents.
I thought I might be able to do this to apply masters to all pages:
    Set pgs = Ind.ActiveDocument.Spreads.ItemByRange(Ind.ActiveDocument.Spreads(1), Ind.ActiveDocument.Spreads(-1))
    pgs.AppliedMaster = Ind.ActiveDocument.MasterSpreads("LNG-TXT")
but it errors trying to set the master, I'm sure its because pgs is a collection of masters.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    All the best,
    Ken

It looks like you are missing .item()
This works for me (in JS):
    app.documents[0].pages.everyItem().appliedMaster = app.documents[0].masterSpreads.item(0);

  • Master process not found, or multiple masters

    Hi there,
      The line:
Master process not found, or multiple masters
appears in /var/log/messages of a Centos server running FMS 3.5 right around the time Flash videos stop working on a site we built. Oddly, nothing appears in /opt/adobe/fms/logs/master.xx.log at the corresponding time*. Is there likely to be any more illuminating information somewhere on the server, to help us identify what caused Flash to stop working?!
      Best wishes,
    Toby
    * Although the FMS logs feature this line a lot:
Assert failed in /util/TCSysUtil.cpp line 683

Thanks for getting back to me. From the error how did you deduce that this is memory related? The server does not currently service a great deal of traffic, although I'm certainly not saying that I know you're wrong. We're monitoring remotely using Nagios and there are no other indicators of stress (although memory is not monitored).
Thanks again, your help is much appreciated.
    Toby
