Multiple FCPX projects to one DVD - workflow struggles

I'm trying to create a dance recital DVD comprised of multiple projects, with the projects being four acts from a performance. I'd like to create a DVD that has a menu that allows the user to choose from the four acts.
I have one project created for each act, and have added titles and transitions for each of the dance numbers in each act. Because I want each dance to be a chapter, I sent each project to Compressor to add chapters. The chapters are created for each project, but now I'm unsure how to proceed.
I see how to create a Job Action to burn to DVD, but that prevents me from adding the other projects to the DVD. I have also considered combining the four projects into one large project, but then how do I add a menu that will allow the user to choose between the acts?
Must I ultimately create the DVD from Compressor (whose interface only an OS 9 user could love)? I'd like to create some graphics with Motion, but I'm not sure how to include them.
Any help is appreciated.

I found no way to add the DVD files I created in Compressor to my project in iDVD 7.1.2. Since there is not a newer version of iDVD available at the App Store, it seems that is not a viable solution. Or I'm doing something wrong, which is always a strong possibility. But I've created a number of DVDs in the past using files from iMovie, so I suspect there may be an issue here.
Adding my DVD files from Compressor to my Toast project was simple. Unfortunately, the chapter markers I created in Compressor were not recognized by Toast; however, Toast allows you to create chapter markers, so I'm doing that there. And creating the markers in Toast is less clunky than doing so in Compressor, so that's preferable anyway.
So my workflow wound up looking something like this:
Import video into FCPX
Create projects for each act, edit, add transitions and titles
Send each project to Compressor and create DVD video and audio
Add acts/projects to Toast file, add chapter markers, and create disk image
I hope this proves useful to someone else.

  • Can I burn multiple FCPX projects to one DVD?

I see how to export each timeline to DVD, but is there a way to burn several projects on the same timeline through Final Cut Pro X?
    Thanks!

You can use compound clips to assemble your projects in a single project. Note, however, that there are no options for chapter markers in FCP X (there are in Compressor). So you might want to assemble, then export, then author in iDVD or Toast.

  • Burn multiple imovie projects to one dvd with menu

How do i burn multiple Imovie projects to one dvd with roxio toast 10? Can i add all of the projects or do i need to export them as a quicktime movie first or something?

You can share the first movie from iMovie, but all the others will need to be exported from iMovie as movies and dragged into the iMovie project.

  • Putting multiple iMovie projects onto one DVD

I was wondering if there was a way to put multiple iMovie projects onto one DVD using iDVD?

actually none of those options worked probably since the movies were in IMOVIE2
Ah... You didn't say it was an iMovie 2 project. iMovie project is different from iMovie HD.
I want to store the image file from the dvd's off site as I don't have the space to archive the projects - it seems I can't do that as it copies over to the server but shows up as a 4kb file - any suggestions how I can do this?
I might be wrong (since I don't have iMovie 2), I assume iMovie 2 has the similar QT "reference" movie as the iMovie HD. This "reference" movie is not a "self-contained" (a QT term) movie, i.e. it only has instructions of the makeup of the "real" movies. You cannot use it to archive. If you want to offload your movie from your computer, you should copy the entire iMovie 2 project folder to an external archive.

  • Burning multiple iDVD projects to one DVD

I have iDVD 6 and I've made 3 family iDVD projects over the last few years. Is there a way I can burn all 3 projects onto one DVD? Maybe a new theme with each project as it's own chapter w/subchapters?
I've tried a few things, but not successfully. If it's not doable w/iDVD6, how about newer versions?
    thx - j

One way is to drag the underlying iMovie projects into the corner of the main menu window of a new iDVD project. They will import as three separate movies and become part of that project. Depends, of course, on how much running time your movies have. Running time for a standard DVD is 2 hours total. Double layer disks are 4 hours.
Another way would be to merge the three iMovie projects into one long project, and import that into iDVD as one long movie.

  • Consolidate tracks from multiple .Band projects onto one .band project

    The subject says it all:
how do I Consolidate tracks from multiple .Band projects onto one .band project?? I've got 4-5 tracks which are each seperate podcasts on one .band file. I need to add a few tracks from a different .band file (because they're podcasts that are part of the same podcast series project). How do I consolidate them? Tried copy/paste the track, didn't work. Thanks a TON!!!!!!!!

you can copy and paste, it just take a little more effort to do what you want. read the tute on rescuing files and you'll see how to move one project into another:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/Tutorials.html#allaboutrescuingfiles
then create the needed tracks for the next project and move them into the right positions, etc.

  • Multiple FCPX licenses on one app store account

    Hi all,
I am trying to figure out if it's possible to run multiple FCPX licenses on one appstore account.
Searching the web gave me multiple options, but none of them really answered my question.
It's only two licenses (for two machines) so we aren't capable of volume licensing since that's only availabe when running more than 20 machines.
anyone an idea? would be great!
    Thanks in advance

    I'v got the same problem.
According to FCPX license one licens can be usen on one computer in the same time.
If You need to run in the same time more then one instance You need more license.
I bought one and i need three more.
Apple support in poland sending me to 'mac app store support form' on apple site... but this support sending me to Apple support in poland with this problem.
As far, for Poland there is no edication licenses and we need (i'm working at university) to but the same number of FCPX licenses like the number of computer on which we want to use them during classes... but mac app store aplication don't have button which allows me tu buy anoyher licenses... it claim that i got one olready....
If any one know how to buy another licenses on the same ID tell us.

  • Burn multiple iphoto albums to one dvd

    Hi,
I would like to burn multiple iphoto albums onto one dvd.
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Brandon

What's the destination of this disk? Another Mac with iPhoto? Then use the Share -> Burn command
Anything else: Select the Albums in the iPhoto Window and export them to Folders on the desktop. Then burn those folders with the Finder.
One exception: Going to view the files on a DVD player? You'll need to create the disk in iDVD.

  • How do I burn multiple projects onto one DVD?

I have several projects saved that are small enough to fit on one DVD.  Not sure, though, if I burn project #2 after project 1 has been burned, whether the software is smart enough to keep them separate and not over-write project #1.

    Dave0518
Once you have burned a Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO format on DVD-R disc, the disc is finalized and you cannot burn a second time on that same disc (no multisessions). Even if you use a DVD-RW disc, the program will erase what is on the disc before burning anything to it.
Now, if you have 3 projects and you want to combine them to be part of one DVD-VIDEO on DVD, then you need to remember that you cannot import a project (project.prel) into another project.prel. So, you have going to have to export the Timeline of each of the projects to a file. The file type selected should be consistent with the goals of the project. To be discussed in more details if necessary. Then each file is brought into a new project (set with the appropriate project preset) which is burned to DVD VIDEO on DVD disc.
Stop markers at the end of each of the first two files is done. But, never place a stop marker at the end of the last file on the Timeline. It is not needed and can cause problems in the project.
Please consider and let us know if you need clarification on anything written.
    Thank you.

  • How do you import multiple iMovie projects into one iDVD project?

    Hi.
I'm 17, and am trying to create a DVD of when the family went on a cruise. For different places/days, I've created different iMovie projects.
But, when I want to export to iDVD, it only lets me put one iMovie project into one iDVD project?
I've tried dragging the actual iMovie project files into iDVD but that doesn't work.
I know I could export to QuickTime and then drag it into iDVD, but it seems exporting just to iDVD is much quicker, and the quality is better.
Anyone know how I can do this?
    cheers
+P.S. If it helps, it's iMovie '11 with iDVD '09.+

That is not true. You can use them all in one DVD. I have just created my first DVD which has a trailer, a movie with chapters and several different slide shows.
All you have to do is save each project to Media Browser. (Choose Share in toolbar). Open iDVD and choose your theme or no theme. On the right will be all your options such as audio, media photo's etc. Choose your various video's/projects etc and just drag and drop which ones you want to the page and they will automatically put themselves there with the given name of each video/project.

  • Multiple DV tapes into one DVD

I'm trying to transfer two DV tapes from my Sony handycam into one DVD double layer using iDVD. Everytime the first DV tape has finished transfering and the DVD has finished burning, the DVD is ejecting. When I try to transfer the second DV tape, I have a message to insert a blank DVD. I then insert the first burned DVD, but the message tells me to put a blank DVD...Is there a way of burning two video sequences from two DV tapes on the same DVD?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You should import the DV videos into iMovie (I preferiMovie HD 6 to the newest version), one DV video to a iMovie project and save them. From there you can open iDVD and drag the iMovie project files into the iDVD menu window, being careful to not drop them in a menu drop zone. That will add those two movies to the iDVD menu.

  • Is there a way to have iDVD have accommodate more than one iMovie project on one DVD?

Looking for a way to have more than one iMovie Project burned to one DVD through iDVD.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Hi
YES - But do not use "Share to iDVD" in any version of iMovie as this will degrade the final result - BUT
Share to Media Browser - and as Large (Not HD or other resolutions as this too degrades the final DVD)
Now when Your movies are Shared. Close iMovie
Open iDVD and import movies from Media button/Movies (down to the right)
And You can add up to 99 movies - or 60/120 minutes (reg encoding quality chosen)
Time is = Movie duration + MENU DURATION (can take 15 minutes or more if elaborated)
(I keep it as simple possibly)
    Yours Bengt W

  • How to fit an iMovie project in one DVD

How can I tell if an iMovie Project will fit in one DVD using iDVD?

If it's just under 2 hours long ..it'll fit. (If it's just under 1 hour long it'll fit, and possibly appear to have slightly higher quality.)
iDVD compresses video for duration, rather than anything to do with file size.

  • Getting a very big project into one DVD

    Hi,
I got a really big project which according to encore needs 8.5 GB.
I want to put it on a 4.5 GB DVD.
I tried transcoding it different and do "fit" but nothing helps.
I don't really mind the quality, I just want it to get into one DVD.
    What do I do?
    Thanks.

    >2nd is they use multi-pass encoders that cost WAY more than what you have invested in your entire computer hardware and software... there was a recent message somewhere (I'm not going to look) that mentioned a NINE pass encoder
Cinemacraft CCE-SP. Their basic version is cheap, at $79. The next one is around $2,000 and has up to 99-pass encoding available as well as a feature that will allow you to set timecodes and encode the sections between each timecode reference with different settings too. It uses what they call "Adaptive Quantize Matrix" encoding, which creates a reference file, and begins to encode and after the third pass, it will continually refine the process on a sub-pixel level until it gets the finest possible quality. It's awesome, and takes a LOT of learning.
    See http://www.cinemacraft.com/eng/sp2.html
This version is small potatoes indeed to what they call their "serious" encoder, which is unpriced unless you contact them directly.
    http://www.omni-cinemacraft.com/products_cinemacraftxtream.shtml
If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Sonic Solutions also do an HD/SD encoder called CineVision, which is a wallet-busting $50,000 a go.
MPEG encoding is an art - even more so than cutting & editing film in the first place, and the big players employ encodists who just do this - all day, every day. You are never going to get the same quality from a sub-$500 2-pass encoder.
