Multiple Fields in RFC call in UDF

In my Message Mapping I am calling a RFC using a UDF, this works fine but only for 1 field. Like in my BAPI I have 1 Field in the Input parameters. Does anyone know how to import more than 1 parameter? Here is some sample code from my UDF:
Calling the RFC, I specify this: <?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?><p2:ZTEST xmlns:p2=\"urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions\"><INPUT_VALUE>4500014790</INPUT_VALUE></p2:ZTEST>
Where ZTEST is my BAPI name and INPUT_Value is my import parameter. My question is how would I specify more than 1 import parameter in my xml string? I tried <INPUT_VALUE1>4500014790</INPUT_VALUE1><INPUT_VALUE2>33</INPUT_VALUE3> but then it does not return anything..
String content = "";
MappingTrace importanttrace;
importanttrace = container.getTrace();
// filling the string with our RFC-XML (with values)
String m = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?><p2:ZTEST xmlns:p2=\"urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions\"><INPUT_VALUE>4500014790</INPUT_VALUE></p2:ZTEST>";
RfcAccessor accessor = null;
ByteArrayOutputStream out = null;
try
// 1. Determine a channel (Business system, Communication channel)
Channel channel = LookupService.getChannel("ECDCLNT999","CC_ECD999_RFC");
// 2. Get a RFC accessor for a channel.
accessor = LookupService.getRfcAccessor(channel);
// 3. Create a xml input stream representing the function module request message.
InputStream inputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(m.getBytes());
// 4. Create xml payload
XmlPayload payload = LookupService.getXmlPayload(inputStream);
// 5. Execute lookup.
Payload result = accessor.call(payload);
InputStream in = result.getContent();
out = new ByteArrayOutputStream(1024);
byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
for (int read = in.read(buffer); read > 0; read = in.read(buffer)) {
out.write(buffer, 0, read);
content = out.toString();
catch(LookupException e)
importanttrace.addWarning("Error while lookup " + e.getMessage() );
catch(IOException e)
importanttrace.addWarning("Error " + e.getMessage() );
finally
if (out!=null) {
try {
out.close();
} catch (IOException e) {
importanttrace.addWarning("Error while closing stream " + e.getMessage() );
// 7. close the accessor in order to free resources.
if (accessor!=null) {
try {
accessor.close();
} catch (LookupException e) {
importanttrace.addWarning("Error while closing accessor " + e.getMessage() );
//returning the result u2013 RFC-XML.response
return content;

Hi Jan de Lange  ,
Can you send the UDF code for the above. Even I was having the same problem ie., sending multiple values in the input file.
I want to send three PO numbers.
String m = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?><p2:ZXI_GET_PO_DETAILS xmlns:p2=\"urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions\">
<PO_NUM>4500000005</PO_NUM>
<PO_NUM>4500000020</PO_NUM>
<PO_NUM>4500000021</PO_NUM></p2:ZXI_GET_PO_DETAILS>";

  • Flat File-to-RFC question, multiple RFC calls for one file.

    Hi guys,
    I'm quite new to XI / PI and I have a question regarding a File-to-RFC scenario we're trying in NW PI 7.1.
    We have a flat file which has two lines with two fields each, let's take this as an example :
    001,001
    002,002
    The files needs to be converted to XML and then transferred to the RFC program which will update a table with the values above.
    In the ESR I've created 3 data types (z_row1,z_record1 and z_fileinput1), 1 message type (z_file2rfc_ob_mt), 1 message mapping (z_file2rfc_mm), 2 Service Interface (z_file2rfc_ob_si and z_file2rfc_ib_ztestpi) and 1 operation mapping (z_file2rfc_om).
    In the Integration Builder (ID) I've created everything required (The sender and receiver communication channels, sender and receiver agreement, receiver determination and interface mapping).
    We're also using content conversion to convert the flat file to XML, this does seem to work because I see all the lines/field in the message when it gets into PI. The problem is that the RFC can only accept two fields at a time and only the first line gets updated. I see that only the first line gets sent to the RFC.
    How can I make the RFC call for each and every line ?
    Thanks !!

    Create the RFC with table, which takes multiple lineitem as input and update the table in single call.
    If you want response back then call RFC as synchrounous else in Asynchrounous mode.
    By doing this in single call it will update the complete table.

  • Multiple RFC calls in same session

    Hi All,
    I'm looking for a way to execute multiple RFCs (one after the other) within the same "session".  The reason I need to execute them within the same session is because the initial RFCs store information in ABAP memory (EXPORT x TO MEMORY ID y) and subsequent ones will use that information (IMPORT x FROM MEMORY ID y) for further processing.  I thought I could do it all as a transactional RFC call but as one of the RFCs invokes the GUI, it seems to cause complications.  I don't think tRFCs are the correct solution because it invovles client interaction from the GUI in one of the calls.
    Has anyone tried to do this with the .NET Connector before?  I've tried reusing the connection but it seems to get reset after the first call.  Please help!
    Tim.

    Hi Tim,
    How are you doing ?
    A session [when using NCo] is the length of time that the connection is open.
    please let me know why the connection is being reset.
    the client number is a mandatory attribute in any connection string, it is a part of a composite key which uniquely identifies the user
    please let me know how you would like to proceed ?
    with respect,
    amit

  • SLD setup for UDF to RFC Call in XI

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a UDF that has an RFC Call to the XI backend and I have it working in my development system.  But for some reason I cannot create the Business Service > Communication Channel > GeneratedReceiverChannel_RFC in my Assurance system.
    I'm guessing it has something to do with a missing connection in my SLD but right now I can't see what could be missing.  What do I need to create in the SLD to allow XI to appear as a business service?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi
      you dont need to do anything in SLD

    infact there is another way (from what is explained in this doc), even without importing the RFC in IR/ ESR

  • FILE to multiple BAPI/RFC calls

    Hi,
    I have one input source (CSV with about 100 rows) and I wish to call a custom rfc for each row in my spreadsheet. (The custom RFC has a single flat import structure as opposed to a table or anything complex).
    I am struggling to do this in XI.
    I assumed I needed to assign one source to multiple targets in the Message interfaces, but this errors on activation due to the RFC occurrence being set to 1.
    Do I need to do the same trick as with IDOCS or am I missing the point somewhere?
    I have read several threads and one in particular seems to indicate it is possible, but so far this has evaded me.
    Re: BOM CREATION
    Please could you point me in the right direction.
    Thanks
    Andrew

    Andrew,
    You could read the CSV file into an Integration Process
    Save the message in a multiline container (in your case 100 rows)
    Create a block
    Create another container to hold the single row defined within this block
    Set the following for the block
    <b>Step Name</b>          eg SplitForRFC
    <b>Mode</b>               ParForEach
    <b>Multiline Element</b>     Multiline container defined above
    <b>Current Line</b>          Single line container defined above
    The <b>Mode</b> 'ParForEach' acts like a loop
    Then within the block create a synchronous Send step which calls your RFC
    <b>Design</b>
    I would question having to make 100 RFC calls
    If possible change the design so that the RFC interface can accept multiple messages and the RFC logic to loop through them and process the messages one at a time

    Mike

  • How to loop through single XML File and send multiple RFC calls?

    I am looking for the best approach to use for making multiple RFC calls (can be sequential) using a single XML file of data.  I have been attempting to get a BPM loop working, but to no avail.  My RFC only accepts a single set of delivery input and I have been told to try to work with it as is.
    input xml sample:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ProofOfDelivery>
       <POD>
          <delivery_number>1</delivery_number>
          <carrier_name>UPS</carrier_name>
       </POD>
       <POD>
          <delivery_number>2</delivery_number>
          <carrier_name>UPS</carrier_name>
       </POD>
    </ProofOfDelivery>
    I need to make a synchronous RFC call for each set of POD data.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the inputs.
    I tried with a BPM and multi-mapping transformation before a ForEach block.  I am getting this error:
    Work item 000000028028: Object FLOWITEM method EXECUTE cannot be executed
    Error during result processing of work item 000000028029

    Error: Exception CX_MERGE_SPLIT occurred (program: CL_MERGE_SPLIT_SERVICE========CP, include: CL_
    Probably because I am not making/using the container objects properly.  Here is a screenshot of my BPM.  Can anyone spot my issue or point me to an example on this sort of container use?

  • LOVs again!  How to return multiple fields to calling form

    Hi
    Newbie question, any help GREATLY appreciated :)
    Is there a simple and easy way to return more than one field from a LOV.
    I need this as I have a composite fk comprised of 2 fields, and as such need to return 2 fields from the LOV to the calling form.
    (My environment: JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 build 1618)
    CM

    Thanks, you put me on the right track here. Further investigations show the following sample provided by OTN shows how to use both the session request/response values or a JavaBean to do this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/jdev/10g/ADF_UIX_UserInput.zip
    As such I post my solution to my original post. Hopefully it's useful to someone beside myself. I have to write up my notes anyhow so it's no fuss to submit them to the forum. I must admit I'm a newbie and slightly demented Forms programmer so such solutions aren't so obvious to me. With this in mind please include the "standard disclaimer" here, with the addition "mileage may vary" warranty.
    For these notes I've used the "HR" demo Oracle schema. In particular the tables departments and employees. As you know there is a master-detail relationship between these 2 tables, where each department may have one or more employees.
    We have the requirement on a webpage to:
    1) Provide an input-form-with-navigation to edit the employees.
    2) Display the relating department_name field, rather than just showing the department_id which is meaningless to the user. For example if the employees.department_id = 40, we wish to show the department name "Human Resources" on the employees record.
    3) Provide a LOV for the department ID field to allow the user to change the underlying department_id to a different master departments record.
    4) Update 2) given a change via 3).
    To do this do the following:
    Entity Objects
    1) Create default EO/VOs on both tables.
    2) In the employees EO, create a new field "DepartmentName" to represent the derived department name field.
    3) Set the new EO attribute's selected-in-query field.
    4) In the query-column-expression field, enter a query to derive the department name field for each record in the detail-employees-EO.
    eg. (SELECT dpt.department_name FROM departments dpt WHERE dpt.department_id = employees.department_id)
    Ensure to include the brackets.
    5) Apply the changes and accept the warning to create default data-type settings for the new attribute.
    View Object
    6) In the employees VO, include the new field DepartmentName as a selected attribute from the EO.
    7) Apply the changes and accept the warning to create default data-type settings for the new attribute.
    8) Test the model by running the ADF BC tester. Once running select the employees VO and step through the records, making sure the DepartmentName field has a value and changes appropriately according to the relating parent department_id.
    UIX input-only-form
    9) Create a new UIX web page employeesEdit.
    10) From the data-control pallete, drag in the employees VO as an input-form-with-navigation.
    11) For testing purposes it is also useful to have a create, delete, commit and rollback button, so includes these too.
    12) Within the employees VO data-control, also drag across a messageLovInput for the DepartmentId. Position it under the existing DepartmentId messageTextInput within the UIX page. We'll remove the existing messageTextInput later, but it's useful to leave it in for testing purposes initially when the LOV returns values.
    UIX LOV
    13) Navigate to the default LOV page that has just been created for you.
    14) Within the data-control pallete, expand the departments VO, select department ID then LOV-table from the drop-down, and drag this item onto the LOV page.
    15) Save your changes.
    16) Run your application. For an existing employee, invoke the department LOV and select an alternative department. Note on returning to the employees page the DepartmentID (both the messageTextInput and messageLovInput fields) are updated, but the DepartmentName is not. To do this we need to create a JavaBean to return multiple fields from the LOV to the original form.
    JavaBean
    17) Within your ViewController project, expand the ApplicationSources-View node.
    18) Select the new button, and create a standard JavaBean.
    19) Name the bean DepartmentsLov.
    20) Via the class editor, add 2 private scope fields DepartmentId and DepartmentName with String data-types, ensuring the create get/set method checkboxes are checked.
    21) Make and save your changes.
    22) From the navigator drag the newly created java file into the data-control palette.
    UIX LOV
    23) Return to the LOV webpage.
    24) Your LOV page will have a lovSelect event handler something like the following:
    <event name="lovSelect">
    <set property="inputValue"
    value="${bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    target="${data.employeesEdit.DepartmentId}"/>
    25) Change the lovSelect as follows:
    <event name="lovSelect">
    <compound>
    <set property="inputValue"
    value="${bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    target="${data.employeesEdit.DepartmentId}"/>
    <set value="${bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    property="inputValue"
    target="${bindings.JavaBeanDepartmentId}"/>
    <set value="${bindings.DepartmentName.inputValue}"
    property="inputValue"
    target="${bindings.JavaBeanDepartmentName}"/>
    </compound>
    26) Within the UI model navigator, right-click on the top node, then create-binding, input, text field.
    27) Select the AppModuleDataControl, then DepartmentView, then the DepartmentName field, and then the ok button.
    28) In the UI model select the new field, then in the structure pane rename the field to DepartmentName.
    29) Within the UI model navigator, right-click on the top node, then create-binding, data, iterator.
    30) Select the DepartmentsLovDataControl and name the new iterator DepartmentsJavaBeanIterator.
    31) Again in the UI model navigator, right-click on the top node, then create-binding, input, text field.
    32) Select the DepartmentsLovDataControl then departmentId field, then the ok button.
    33) In the UI model select the new field, then in the structure pane rename the field to JavaBeanDepartmentId.
    34) Again in the UI model navigator, right-click on the top node, then create-binding, input, text field.
    35) Select the DepartmentsLovDataControl then departmentName field, then the ok button.
    36) In the UI model select the new field, then in the structure pane rename the field to JavaBeanDepartmentName.
    UIX input-only-form
    37) Return to the main employeesEdit UIX form.
    38) Your UIX page will have a lovUpdate event handler something like the following:
    <event name="lovUpdate">
    <null/>
    39) Change the lovUpdate as follows:
    <event name="lovUpdate">
    <compound>
    <set value="${bindings.JavaBeanDepartmentId.inputValue}"
    property="inputValue"
    target="${bindings.DepartmentId}"/>
    <set value="${bindings.JavaBeanDepartmentName.inputValue}"
    property="inputValue"
    target="${bindings.DepartmentName}"/>
    </compound>
    </event>
    40) Repeat steps 29 through 36 for this page.
    41) Within the UIX page find the entries for the departmentId LOV, and the DepartmentName. They should look something like the following:
    <messageLovInput id="${bindings.DepartmentId.path}"
    model="${bindings.DepartmentId}"
    destination="lovWindow1.uix"/>
    <messageTextInput model="${bindings.DepartmentName}"
    columns="10"/>
    42) Modify these 2 entries as follows:
    <messageLovInput id="DepartmentId"
    model="${bindings.DepartmentId}"
    destination="lovWindow1.uix"
    partialRenderMode="multiple"
    partialTargets="DepartmentId DepartmentName"/>
    <messageTextInput id="DepartmentName"
    model="${bindings.DepartmentName}"
    columns="10"/>
    43) Finally delete the original DepartmentId messageTextInput field, leaving the DepartmentId messageLovInput.
    Testing
    44) Open your UIX input-only-form.
    45) Call the LOV and change the department for an existing employee record.
    46) Return to the employees page and note that the department ID and name have changed.
    47) Commit your changes.
    48) With your favourite data inspection tool (a'la Toad), check that the employee record's department ID has been appropriately saved to the database.

  • Multiple (parallel) RFC Calls through  one connection?

    Hi SAP gurus,
    Is there a possibility for parallel RFC calls through one open connection via one SAP system user?
    As I know when calling RFCs it opens a new session and the dialog users have only 6 sessions permitted.
    Do you know any possible solution for this?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Is this question about the SAP StreamWork APIs. I think you have posted to the wrong forum.

  • In XI Mapping multiple fields mapping to single target field.

    Hi Friends,
    In XI Mapping multiple fields mapping to single target field.
    For example my requirement is :
    Source Fields:(This RFC BAPI Structure)
    Empno                0-1
    EmpName           0-1
    Address             0-1
    Taget Field is:
    Details               0-1
    The above three fields passed to the Details Field. Here i am using Concat function
    But i have one query on that on,Every field having "line Break" required.
    Can you please help me out above this requirement.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sateesh N.

    If you want a line break between the three fields, then try
    passing a,b,c to the udf and in the udf you would have
    return a+"\n"+b+"\n"+c;

  • How to transfer the webservice username/PW to the RFC call in PI 7.0

    Hey,
    I would like to transfer the username/PW, which is supplied, when a specific web service is called. The web service is supposed to be exposed on PI 7.0 and will transfer the request to a function module in ECC 6.0 via an RFC communication channel in PI 7.0. Typically, you specify the username/PW in the RFC comm. channel in PI, but how do I dynamically specify the received username/PW from the web service call in that RFC call to ECC 6.0? Maybe SAML is the answer, but it seems a bit cumbersome in my case.
    BR
    Mikael

    Hi Michal
    Thanks for the link. I have been looking for blogs/material on how, in a mapping in PI, to place the value of SRemoteUser in a field in the target message but without luck. Is it really the case, that I have to use batch input in order for it to work?
    What is wrong with this code in a UDF where there is no input variable. Will it work?:
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/SOAP", "SRemoteUser");
    String WSuser = conf.put(key);
    return WSuser;
    Or should I skip this UDF all together and in stead use Variable Transport Binding and set XHeaderName1 = SRemoteUser   ?
    Looking forward to your book on iDocs in August

  • [Forum FAQ] How to use multiple field terminators in BULK INSERT or BCP command line

    Introduction
    Some people want to know if we can have multiple field terminators in BULK INSERT or BCP commands, and how to implement multiple field terminators in BULK INSERT or BCP commands.
    Solution
    For character data fields, optional terminating characters allow you to mark the end of each field in a data file with a field terminator, as well as the end of each row with a row terminator. If a terminator character occurs within the data, it is interpreted
    as a terminator, not as data, and the data after that character is interpreted and belongs to the next field or record. I have done a test, if you use BULK INSERT or BCP commands and set the multiple field terminators, you can refer to the following command.
    In Windows command line,
    bcp <Databasename.schema.tablename> out “<path>” –c –t –r –T
    For example, you can export data from the Department table with bcp command and use the comma and colon (,:) as one field terminator.
    bcp AdventureWorks.HumanResources.Department out C:\myDepartment.txt -c -t ,: -r \n –T
    The txt file as follows:
    However, if you want to bcp by using multiple field terminators the same as the following command, which will still use the last terminator defined by default.
    bcp AdventureWorks.HumanResources.Department in C:\myDepartment.txt -c -t , -r \n -t: –T
    The txt file as follows:
    When multiple field terminators means multiple fields, you use the below comma separated format,
    column1,,column2,,,column3
    In this occasion, you only separate 3 fields (column1, column2 and column3). In fact, after testing, there will be 6 fields here. That is the significance of a field terminator (comma in this case).
    Meanwhile, using BULK INSERT to import the data of the data file into the SQL table, if you specify terminator for BULK import, you can only set multiple characters as one terminator in the BULK INSERT statement.
    USE <testdatabase>;
    GO
    BULK INSERT <your table> FROM ‘<Path>’
     WITH (
    DATAFILETYPE = ' char/native/ widechar /widenative',
     FIELDTERMINATOR = ' field_terminator',
    For example, using BULK INSERT to import the data of C:\myDepartment.txt data file into the DepartmentTest table, the field terminator (,:) must be declared in the statement.
    In SQL Server Management Studio Query Editor:
    BULK INSERT AdventureWorks.HumanResources.DepartmentTest FROM ‘C:\myDepartment.txt’
     WITH (
    DATAFILETYPE = ‘char',
    FIELDTERMINATOR = ‘,:’,
    The new table contains like as follows:
    We could not declare multiple field terminators (, and :) in the Query statement,  as the following format, a duplicate error will occur.
    In SQL Server Management Studio Query Editor:
    BULK INSERT AdventureWorks.HumanResources.DepartmentTest FROM ‘C:\myDepartment.txt’
     WITH (
    DATAFILETYPE = ‘char',
    FIELDTERMINATOR = ‘,’,
    FIELDTERMINATOR = ‘:’
    However, if you want to use a data file with fewer or more fields, we can implement via setting extra field length to 0 for fewer fields or omitting or skipping more fields during the bulk copy procedure.

  • How do you get a line with MULTIPLE fields to WRAP ?

    How do you get a line with MULTIPLE fields to WRAP ?
    Good afternoon everyone...
    THE PROBLEM: Why doesn’t a line with multiple fields WRAP?
    HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE/WHAT I”D LIKE TO SEE
    If I have 2 fields on a line (this is now a hypothetical example and nothing to do with my actual report)….let’s call them field A and field B. And if field A has values of all ‘X’ and field B has values of all ‘Y’…then….the normal case would be (ignore dots – only for spacing):
    A……………………… B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
    But what if A is too long? I would want to see B wrap onto the next line like this:
    A……………………………………………………B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYY
    YYYYYYYYYYYYY
    And similarly….if B is extra long, can the line print as:
    A………………………. B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
    YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
    I don’t want the case where B is long and I get:
    A………………… …B…

    I can see how you can wrap an individual field like that…but how can you WRAP a line of[b] fields within the frame so it wraps to the BEGINNING of the frame on next line?
    My SPECIFIC CASE
    I have a report that I have stripped down to a simple structure for the purposes of this explanation.
    My DATA MODEL has the main QUERY (for plant family and species data). The columns of the query are divided into 2 groups. The 1st GROUP contains the family data. Below that is the rest of the species data in a 2nd GROUP.
    Linking from the 2nd species group (above) is a new QUERY to extract REGION data based on the common key field. Under this 2nd query is another group with all the REGION columns.
    The LAYOUT MODEL has a group frame (the main , base one)
    On top of this is a repeating frame based on the 1st group (family data).
    On top of this is another repeating frame for the 2nd group (species data).
    On top of this is 2 Frames on the same line line. The 1st frame contains columns from the species group .
    The 2nd frame on this line is a repeating frame. The PRINT DIRECTION for this frame is ACROSS/DOWN. It repeats details of the REGION where the species is found. These columns come from this group come from the REGION QUERY and GROUP.
    All fields on the report line have variable horizontal elasticity.
    The problem is that when there is too much data on the line, it does NOT WRAP to the 2nd line.. It TRUNCATES.
    Can the line be made to WRAP????..
    In my current report, 1 of 2 things is happening:
    1) All fields print on the line until it hits the page boundary and then it just stops. Truncated!
    2) All fields print on the current line, then Oracle Reports throws a new page to print the REMAINDER of the long, input line
    But I would like a LONG line to continue printing onto the following line of the same page.
    I have tried all combinations of the elasticity fields and the ‘ADVANCED LAYOUT’ properties.
    I have been focussing my attention with this problem on the frames .
    We are using REPORT BUILDER V 6.0.8.26.0
    Thankyou to anyone who may offer assistance.
    Tony Calabrese.

    Steve,
    you gain 1 thing, but you lose something else!
    This thing is SO frustrating!
    Hey Steve! Good afternoon.
    I've done as you suggested....I have a long text boilerplate item - the only 1 on the line...and it has all the column in it.
    So it looks like:
    &col1 &col2 &col3 &col4 &col5 etc etc etc
    And the line expands nicely to each field's requirements.
    And when it gets to the right page boundary...it WRAPS to the next line! Beautiful!!!
    The only thing is that...when I had individual fields across the line I was able to create format triggers for those fields. And in doing so I was able to reduce the font and change the justification. I had to do that because some of the fields had to appear superscripted.
    So I wanted something like (ignore the dots):
    ...................................ppppp
    AAAA BBBB CCCCC DDDD EEEE FFFFFF
    So the field of 'ppppp' appeared slightly higher on the line than the other fields...
    I can't see how I can do this with a single TEXT field containing all the &COL values.
    Have you ever come across anything like this?
    Thankyou again,
    Tony Calabrese 12/4/2007

  • Sending a table to remote RFC in Java UDF

    Hello,
    <br><br>
    We use the API "com.sap.aii.mapping.lookup" often to make RFC calls from a UDF and return data. We typically create an import parameter in the Function Module and pass the value into the RFC. We now need to send in an unlimited number of values so we understand that instead of the import paramter we need to use a table. The problem is we get an error when we build the XML in our UDF and try to call the RFC. We tried wrapping the values in item nodes and several other approaches but we are not sure if we can populate a table via XML and make the RFC call.
    <br><br>
    Example of what we tried:
    <br><br>
    String sRfcxml = "&lt;?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?&gt;&lt;ns0:ZCAE_MX_CONTRACT_ROUTING xmlns:ns0=\"urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions\"&gt;&lt;E_ZCAE_COCODE&gt;&lt;item&gt;0445&lt;/item&gt;&lt;/E_ZCAE_COCODE&gt;&lt;/ns0:ZCAE_MX_CONTRACT_ROUTING&gt;";
    <br><br>
    Regardless of what we try we get the following error during the call:
    <br><br>
    error of "RuntimeException in Message-Mapping transformation: Exception:[java.lang.RuntimeException: com.sap.aii.mapping.lookup.LookupException: Exception during processing the payload.Problem when calling an adapter by using communication channel RFC_RCV_ORGDATA (Party: , Service: ValidateXIData_BusiServ, Object ID: d5401e52ad1039df96f02bde53b23c06) XI AF API call failed. <br><br>
    Now if we do not pass any data or use an import versus table parameter in the function module it works just fine.
    <br><br>
    We know we can work around this by using an import parameter and stringing the values together with a delimiter and then breaking this apart in ABAP but we are looking for a cleaner solution.
    <br><br>
    Any thoughts?

    Not sure what's wrong, but are you sure your "stringed" XML document matches the expected RFC structure ? Btw, I'd replace (though it could be considered as a cosmetic change) to replace "ns0" with "rfc" in your namespaces declaration, it's what you'll see in all imported RFC objects in XI/PI

  • Is there any way to limit the number of RFC calls from xMII to SAP R/3

    Hi All!
    I wanted to know whether the number of simultaneous RFC connections made from xMII to SAP R/3 system can be controlled in any way. Suppose we have a scenario wherein some million Sales Orders or Production Orders are to be updated in SAP R/3 from xMII in a short span of time. For all these updations to take place, multiple RFC calls will be established from xMII to SAP at the same time. This will increase the load on the SAP R/3 system and affect performance of the SAP R/3 system. Is there any check on xMII side to limit the number of RFC calls that can be made to SAP R/3 system?
    Regards
    Anupam

    Anupam,
    If you are using 11.5 just keep in mind that the JCO connection points to a single application server (based upon the SAP Server alias connection settings), but the traffic itself to make a BAPI request is effectively the same as any client user traffic.  There will obviously be limitations on performance and throughput, with network and server constraints added to the number and size of the R/3 requests, but there is no magic formula to plug-in because of all of these variables.
    If you are using 12.0 (or plan to migrate when it goes GA) then taking advantage of the JRA (java resource adapter) and the associated application server pooling that it offers on the NetWeaver side of things will greatly help you in the throughput capacity.
    If you have put some of your xMII application into either test or productive use and are running into issues then I would highly recommend entering the specifics into the customer / partner support portal so that they can help you through any associated problems.
    Regards,
    Jeremy Good

  • RFC call results in StORAGE_PARAM_WRONG_SET

    I'm in trouble with a RFC call, the process is as following: SAP system A calls a report. This report selects FI documents via LDB SDF. After user selects one or more documents from the list I call a RFC to read the payroll posting results from system B. The call of the RFC takes place for each FI document separatly what means user selects e.g. 10 FI documents, so I have 10 RFC calls with one result list. After each RFC call I add the result table of the RFC to the output table within the report. Before calling the RFC I of course clear all relevant tables again and additionaly I also use the 'FREE' statement within the RFC to set free all the memory, so there is no data stored in internal tables. But when the user selects a great no. of FI documents to read the payroll postings sometimes the RFC cancels in system B telling me that the storage parameters were set wrong. Calling the RFC step by step by selecting the FI document in single mode from the list I don't receive this dump. Do you have an idea what to do to avoid the dump? One problem: I don't have access to system B to test there, I only can do testing in system A and therefore I have no possibility to debugg this.
    This is the code of the RFC module:

    Hi Sudhir,
    These settings need to be done by basis people. Anyhow, you can go to the tcode RZ11 and put in these parameters mentioned in the error message. There will be documentation available for these parameters. Try to see if the defaults are not met for any of these parameters. If you find something strange, report it to the basis. The documentations in this are very helpful. Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards
