Multiple GPU support in Speedgrade in the future?

Hi:
I got a couple questions.
-Could Speedgrade support multiple GPUs in the future versions?
-Which "cards" are supported in SG Creative Cloud? Matrox, BlueFish, Blackmagic? Could both systems (Mac&Win) works with the same cards? (except for Nvidia SDI Output, windows only).
Thanks.
Miguel.

Hi Miguel,
SpeedGrade does not support, or need multiple GPUs. It uses the GPU extremely efficiently so you're going to get better performance with much less GPU power than other color grading applications need.
You should be able to use it fine with Matrox cards on both Mac and Win. Bluefish and Blackmagic are not currently supported (although it is reasonable to hope that will change at some point!)

  • What Multiple GPU Support??

I just purchased a very pricey Mac Pro for my company, with the intention of utilizing it's dual GPUs & processing power for fast turnaround times on video projects. Turning on GPU acceleration in Premiere, however, essentially renders this machine useless. I can use Premiere (GPU acceleration on) with a single monitor, but as soon as I hook up a 2nd, I have no playback anywhere. No video signal from the program feed or the preview window. My question is, why has Adobe not provided multiple GPU support for a graphics card that currently ships in brand new Macs (ATI Radeon HD5770)? Side note, there are no driver updates for this GPU on the AMD website either. This is very frustrating and disappointing. Next logical question: How quickly will Adobe respond to this screw up?

I think some things need to be clarified here...

As far as waiting for a new Mac Pro you might not even get better performance than what would be possible on your current Mac Pro since the new one doesn't have NVIDIA cards and it hasn't been benchmarked.
You're right that they don't have nVidia chips in them, but it's very likely they'll perform quite well when compared to yesterday's Mac Pro.  Specially since the rig has enough power available to drive two of them.  Also, read my previous post: the IVB Xeons are nothing to sneeze at.
Personally, I prefer nVidia, and I also prefer not using Thunderbolt for storage.  So a new Mac Pro isn't for me.  But it may be others.
Alternatively you can keep one 5770 in one slot, sell the other and pick up a used Quadro 4000 for another slot on ebay for $200-$300.
Please, whatever you do, DON'T follow that suggestion.  Q4Ks are turds, and hyper-expensive ones at that.  Talk about WAY old technology.
Oh, and Jim: it's probably time to punt this to Hardware.

  • Will recording mic audio in mp3 codec be supported by FMS in the future

I am newbb to flash. I am developping a mobile app for video chat using FL3. Then I realized that FL3.x only support mp3 streaming for now. So I turn to the server side and found that FMS3.5.1 doesn't support record or live mic audio in mp3. This causes a quite difficult situation. I am wondring if there's a solution/workaround for this? And mostly importantly, I am wondering if recording mic audio in mp3 is ever going to be supported. If anyone can answer this.

    Hi Bob,
Regarding "when will flashplayer support mp3 encoding" ...
Jay's lowdown is 100% correct.  And definitely don't hold your breath waiting  ;-)
My sense is that internally Adobe fiercely guards against bloat in the size of the Flash Player installers.  Fiercely.
But now they have AIR too.  And Acrobat.  (Both of which now include Flash Player in their current versions.)
Personally, I would settle for MP3 encoding in AIR as a first step.  Plus, VP6 and H.264 in AIR.
My sense is that the hurdle against bloat in the AIR installer size is dramatically lower.  And we definitely need these additional encoding capabilities built-in to some runtime.
So, whenever you have a chance to lobby Adobe engineers or submit requests to their wishlist, just keep asking.

  • Will there be any Eucon support in the future?

    Hey,
I don't know if the question is allready asked, I didn't found anything in the forum.
I'm using an Artist Color by Avid, former Euphonix and it would be nice if I can use it in Speedgrade in the future.
    Does anybody know any further?
    Thanks,
    MN

I'd suggest using the standard Adobe wish/request/bug-report form ... and asking for it. You can find the address on the Overview page for all the Adobe forums, in the header above the list of "discussions".

  • The future of UIX?

Given the focus on ADF Faces in the 10.1.3 release of JDev, can Oracle make comment on what the future of UIX will be please?
    The following document:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/9.0.5.0/adfuix_roadmap/adfuix_roadmap.html
....notes that a "A migration tool to upgrade from ADF UIX to ADF Faces will be available in the future". Is this still planned? Does this mean given the 10.1.3 release our JDev production systems (pre 10.1.3), in order to take advantage of bug fixes elsewhere in the technology stack, must use this migration tool and convert their existing applications? (with the associated regression test costs) Or will UIX be supported and extended in the future?
    CM.

    Hi Shital and Marcus,
We will continue to support and develop UIX for a very long time (it is currently used extensively within our eBusinessSuite). Internally ADF Faces is known as UIX 3.0, and we see ADF Faces as a natural evolution of UIX.
Marcus: "But will there be a feature freeze for UIX or do you plan to have the same functionality / components in UIX and JSF?"
A: Looking at UIX today and what we have in ADF Faces the functionality/components are almost identical. There are of course still some work to be done on the ADF Faces side. They are after all just in Early Access release. Eventually there will be a feature freeze of UIX, and you will have to make a decision whether to move to JSF or not, but as I said the UIX framework will be around for a very long time.
Marcus: "Your statement "same developer experience as in 9.0.5" sounds like there will be improvements for JSF that will not be implemented in UIX?"
A: Correct. There is a difference between UIX and JSF that we cannot overlook. JSF allows us to provide more design time features than what would be feasible with UIX.
Shital: "In your opinion should we start using ADF Faces for our new projects and not use UIX?"
A: There is no clear answer to this, yet. If your requirements are to use production software and your projects have deadlines of late summer- early fall 2005 I would definitely use UIX. If your projects are not starting until after summer I would start looking at ADF Faces. Remember that there is currently no production release of JDeveloper that has the same feature set for ADF Faces as with ADF UIX. Features like drag and drop data bindings using ADF model (JSR 227) are not there, yet, for ADF Faces.
    Summary
If you are a front runner (and can wait) go and explore JSF and ADF Faces. If you are depending on production software and cannot wait - use ADF UIX.

  • Acrobat 9 will support Firefox 6 or above in the future?

    Hi,
    another question
Acrobat 9 does support Firefox 4, will Acrobat in the future support newer build of Firefox too? or one had to upgrade to Acrobat X (not free )
    thanks

There are no announced plans to update Acrobat version 9 to keep track of the rapid release schedule in Firefox, though Adobe is trying to keep Acrobat X and Adobe Reader X updated, and today's 10.1.1 patch brings in compatibility with Firefox 6.0. You can always install Reader X alongside Acrobat 9, and use Reader as the default for in-browser use.
The matrix of supported configurations is available here.

  • HT1399 When I import a CD to itunes, it splits the album in to multiple entries. I have changed the info on some but others just will not merge. Is there an easy way to do this and can I stop them from splitting in future? Thanks

When I import a CD to itunes, it splits the album in to multiple entries. I have changed the info on some but others just will not merge. Is there an easy way to do this and can I stop them from splitting in future? Thanks

Okay this is what fixed my problem. Some kind of error/glitch occured half-way through importing that third cd that prevented further imports from any other cd. Once I completely removed the half-imported cd album from my library I could further import cd's without any problems.

  • Does DPS support Object States or will it in the future?

Most, if not all of the interactive publications I have designed in ID CS5 use object states to deliver large amounts of content in a cleaner, less-cluttered manner;  I find the object states feature of InDesign to be by far the most powerful interactive component.  Does DPS have the object states feature or will it in the future?

Yes, object states are supported. Create object states, select object states and then fine tune in the Overlay Creator. You can make buttons to go to next/previous or specific state, you can autoplay swipe through object states etc.

  • File Type Support in the Future?

    Hi all,
I'm really tempted to buy either the 16GB or 32GB iPod Touch. I currently have a creative Zen Touch 20GB, so the touch will be my first iPod.
Basically, the one thing I'm not too impressed with atm is the low level of file type support. Is it likely that in the future, the iPod Touch will accept AVIs, WMVs and WMAs etc through a firmware update?
    Thanks!

    PlaneHazza wrote:
Thanks. I ask mainly because file types such as WMV, WMA, AVI etc are common and easy to manipulate files.
So are the file types supported by QuickTime, iTunes and iPods.

  • How far in the Future will AS2 be supported?

    Hi
I've been developing Flash stuffs for almost a decade, i consider myself advanced in AS2 .. i am also very advanced in PHP..
Throughout all my projects I've always used Flash, AS2, mySQL and PHP, and have made tons of applications , some mission critical, w/ that combo..
When AS3 got introduced, i was excited, till i tried to learn it, and tried to develop under it. it's really not a BIG LEAP from AS2 to AS3, it's more of A COMPLETE CHANGE.. in the habits, in attaching code, etc.. While i tried to embraced that , and i really did.. for months.. i just can't seem to adjust to it in a practical/efficient way.. I do understand for large and scalable projects AS3 has a leading advantage.. but for small-med projects, AS3 just makes things more complicated than it as to be... and it takes me so much more time and effort to achieve the simple things i wana do.. even just the ESC+KEY shortcuts that made my coding RAPID (esc+st = stop() ) was a something i missed so much..  So I redide my project, and i simply went back to AS2 and still happy w/ it.. as long as I know the limitations, specially in performance, i'm ok.
I continued to build lots of systems, from accounting to inventory using FLASH/AS2 interface and PHP MYSQL backened.. it's robust, secure, and all I need and to do I can achieve.. I never had any complaints (well except for some minor stuffs here and there the datagrid limitations but that's ok)
Now i'm embarking on another project, w/c will require a long term support for.. as the software will be used for 3-4 years atleast and I will continue to upgrade its features and interface..
that being said, as per my EXPERIENCE w/ these type of projects, I AM COMPLETELY CONFIDENT that EVERYTHING I NEED TO BUILD and MAINTAIN for the said software is all ACHIEVABLE/AVAILABLE w/ my current working environment, the AS2/PHP/MySQL .. but thing I'm uncertain of is ADOBE's FLASH PLAYER SUPPORT for AS2 specially since lots of the GUI of my software will be running on browsers to be cross compatible (Windows/Ubuntu desktops)
    So that is my question..
I read the 2008 blog from ADobe
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/actionscript/articles/six_reasons_as3.html
    quote;
    [img]Backwards compatibility and future technologies
If, after reading all of these benefits, you still don't want to learn ActionScript 3.0, then you can continue writing ActionScript 2.0 code to develop your projects. But as the Flash platform evolves, many of the cool new technologies will only be available in ActionScript 3.0. For example, technologies like Adobe Flex 3 and Adobe AIR require ActionScript 3.0, so if you want to work with those technologies, then working in an older version of ActionScript isn't much of an option.[/img]
SO it says here that backwards compatibility will be maintained, and i dont care about the new features.. i have everything i need in AS2..
BUT.. this is a 2008 article and I'm not sure if he meant the backwards compatibility to stay till say 2020? lol
    Anyone got insights on this?
    Thanks
    TJ

I doubt they will do any more than they already have... provided a table in the help documentation identifying what AS2 elements became what in AS3.
I doubt such a tool would be a practical investment, and possibly would leave alot of holes where there would be no translation... some processing does not translate on a line for line basis and requires knowledgeable decisions and adjustments on a case by case basis.
Anyways, I don't see how a translator will help someone master AS3... it would seem such a tool would do the opposite... provide a crutch for those who don't want to take the time and effort to learn.

  • HT203088 Will Aperture get new camera support for RAW files in the future?

    need answers

RAW support is part of the OS for Apple;  it is not part of Aperture.
Apple has stated that they will continue to support Aperture _on Yosemite_ but not on any future OS's.
Therefore it appears _reasonable_ to conclude that all RAW support updates for Yosemite will work with Aperture.
Apple provides no guarantee (or has, afaik, any contractual obligation) to stick to the above.
Apple makes no statements regarding updates to the RAW compatibility.

Seems to be a widespread human condition.

  • Does endeca support update data now or in the future?

The question is like this kind of scenario: Now the endeca page retrieves data from a oracle database's table. I just want to know if endeca has the functionality to update a piece of record. For example endeca page can have input filed and submit button, when user enter the new data in the input field and click submit button this piece of record in the database is updated. Does endeca support this functionality now or in the future?

If you are genuinely syncing to 4 webmail accounts you will only hold copies of the last 7 days of emails and folder contents in Playbook (or 14 or 30 days if you set it).  All the archive material over that age resides only on the web.
You need to go to webmail to clean them up.

  • Does SAP stop/terminate ITS support in the future? - truth or just gossip

I've heard a gossip about SAP will terminate the ITS functionality in the near future.
Does anyone know something exact about this theme, what is the SAP official slant in this question?
If it is true, what is the alternative solution instead of ITS functionality is WAS?

            Andras Heger

    Hi Andras,
SAP provides different frameworks to program user interface. The most often used framework is the SAP dynpro programming model which is probably used by 80-90 percent of SAP applications. ITS is the technology to display screens based on the dynpro framework in the browser. Because dynpros are so widely used it is very unlikely that SAP will terminate support for ITS in the near future. On the SAP Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com) following official information can be found for the oldest release of ITS, ITS 6.20 standalone:
    ITS 6.20 - supported 'longterm'
The date for end of support for release 6.20 depends on the maintenance deadlines for the SAP products which need the SAP ITS 6.20.
As long as one of these products is supported, the ITS 6.20 will also be supported.
Currently the product with the longest lifecycle is SAP ECC 5.0 (until 31st of March 2013).
For integrated ITS which is a functionality of SAP Netweaver 2004/7.0 the maintenance timeline is as long as for the SAP Netweaver release.
As you see you can expect ITS to be healthy for quite long time.
Please also check the ITS FAQ: <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/itsFAQs&">https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/itsFAQs&</a>
