Multiple GraphicsDevice's scrolling failure

greetings. i plugged in as many searchs as i could think would return this problem and i didn't find anything. getting that out of the way, i just started playing with using multiple GraphicsDevice's and extending the desktop. if i run my swing application and put the frame on the extended screen, i get indeterminate behavior. it seems initially when i run the app and attempt to scroll an object such as a JScrollPane or JTable, only some of the lines of the pane scroll and other parts don't. depending on scrolling up or down depends on how the area is messed up- you'd have to see it to give it justice. from there i haven't noticed much of a pattern. sometimes putting the frame into the maximized state will fix the problem and other times it won't work in the maximized state. i get the same problem with netbeans on the extended display but not with eclipse. everything always scroll fine on the primary device. i wonder if it's my display card but since all of my examples are in java but without uniform results, i'm a little puzzled. anyone have any suggestions? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. jerry.

Selecting Multiple Images from Scroll Pane

I am quite a newbie to Java GUI and can't find a good example on something I wish to do. I got a scroll pane which actually loaded images as a Label. I do this program to upload the images. I already manage to upload the images somehow. But now the problem is I wish to remove the images from the scroll pane. It will be something like this.
1. Try to put a check box on each JLabel with the image.
2. Select multiple JLabel images by selecting the check boxes.
3. Click on the "Remove" button will remove those JLabel Images which has a check box "checked"
What I am not too sure is,
how can I be able to detect a group of checkboxes which is checked inside the scroll pane. So that I can actually removes them from the scroll pane. Can anyone show me a good example for it?

Keep the check boxes in a Collection of some sort. Iterate through it, calling isSelected() on each box.
Or, add a listener to the checkboxes so that a list of selected images is updated whenever a box is checked or unchecked.
One of these may suit better than the other depending on circumstances.

Mighty Mouse scroll failure

I'll put it in here under MacBook, 'cos I use one, but it's really a Mighty Mouse question – but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to put it...
The scroll 'nubbin'(?) on my corded Mighty Mouse has stopped scrolling down. It will scroll left, right and up, but not down.
I've unplugged and replugged the USB, restarted twice but it refuses to scroll in one of it's four axis.
Is there any troubleshooting I can do before I take my MacBook and mouse to a friends house and try a process of elimination?

Well after using these fixes several times after a while the scroll stopped working (only in the down direction again) completely.
Eventually I resorted to opening the mouse (very fiddly - don't try this at home unless you're willing to buy a new mouse!)
Lo and behold, the tiny rollers encasing the scroll ball were gunged up with that gunk you always had to clean off your mouse rollers back in the day.
Putting the mouse back together is very tough as you have to re-thread the printed circuit ribbon. I also found it was impossible to get the side buttons back in properly so I broke them off - I'd rather have a working scroll wheel and no side buttons.
So there we are.
In conclusion:
I regard this mouse as a flawed design - the price you pay for being version 1.0 I suppose. Mouse balls and roller GET CLOGGED UP, this has been recognised for years and have been designed to be user servicable, the fact is this one hasn't been designed very well.
And furthermore, the whole optical mouse idea is inspired by this problem with traditional mice - so to fit Olde Mouse tech to the top side of an optical mouse seems ridiculous.

9.0.1 touchpad scroll failure

Synaptics touchpad displays the scroll icon but does not move Firefox page. Works properly with MS word & excel.

Wanted to give an update of my progress today.
I again began with a clean installation of 9.0.0. Brought up the CF administrator and completed the installation. From there, I went directly to installing the 9.0.1 update and the 9.0.1 hotfix. To my amazement, the cf administrator came up with an issue. But . . .
I then went into the administrator to install my 'customizations' (i.e. my datasources, my SMTP mail server, my custom tags, etc). Truly nothing unusual. Almost sad to say - vanilla. I then shut down the service as recommended to have some of the changes 'take effect'. Boom, the cf administrator no longer appears but gives me the blank screen and the same error messages I have listed in my first note. So again, it must be "something either I turned on/off incorrectly, but don't even know where to look".
Would this be considered a bug?

2011 imacs multiple hard drive sensor failures

I work at a call center where we have over 200 2011 imacs. Lately, they have been coming up with the ? on the folder (hard drive issue). The drive cannot be seen in disk utility and when running a diagnostic on it, the error code that comes up mentions the hard drive temperature sensor failure.
So far, in the last 3 weeks, we've had at LEAST 12 machines go down with this. The machines we have are the 500gb drives -- not the 1T with the recall. Is anyone out there having this same issue?
Also -- do you know of some kind of bug/script, etc that might cause this?
Usually, it happens logging onto the Open Directory Domain -- they are able to put a password in, then, the screen flashes white and when it comes back up, has the folder with the question mark on it.
Outside of sending them in for repairs -- any ideas?

This topic is interesting because it may indicate a general problem on some Mid 2011 iMacs.
Unfortunately, when the question mark appears at startup, the hard drive is damaged, and more when Apple Hardware Test reports a problem with the hard drive fan sensor. There isn't any other solution different to take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get the hard drive replaced.
I haven't noticed problems with Mid 2011 iMacs hard drives looking here. Maybe one user may come here with a Mid 2011 iMac and report the same problem, but I haven't heard anything about a generalized problem. My advice is that all people with problems with their Mid 2011 iMacs hard drives call Apple, so they can take note of the problem and launch a replacement program, if Apple considers this necessary

Multiple Problems Throughout Contract - Failure to Disconnect when Request and Then Charged.

So lets start with March 2012. I had to move to another house and I brought my FiOS with me. This is where the problems begin.
During transfer it took over a week to get my old price grandfathered over which shouldn't have been such a big deal I've been a paying customer for almost a year now. Note price should have been 79.99.
They created a new account without telling me any of the information about it, putting in a phone number, giving me an email address or anything. This caused massive confusion on the bill when it was recieved saying I owe $200.00 months later [first bill I recieved]
On return of old equipment they shut the internet off at my new house and after 6 hours on the phone with them they re-enabled it. To my suprise on the bill I recieved [First one] it was now at 129.99 per month!!! Not only that they added an Activation Fee!!!!!! What? All of this without my consent. Eventually I got the fee down to 90.00 Per month but they didn't refund me the extra 50.00 per month they had charged me.
About a month later I had graduated from school and went to the store to have it transfered over but they told me I could not due to past due bills because of how expensive it was and the confusion as I was paying to an old account which I never recieved credit from, the money seemingly disappeared as they said they'd "write me a check" or "credit my new account".
So I go to check my account today and find that I have an early termination fee, call in to learn that my previous land lord hard to call in and get the account canceled and that they won't wave the fee.
I'm not paying this $400.00 bill and when it is reported to a debt collector I will be disputing it with the evidence I've listed here.

Multiple HP97 print cartridge failures

I have an HP Deskjet 6940 printer that has problems with three color cartridges. Pointing my web browser to the printer, the status is "Color ink cartridge has failed." All are genuine HP97s that have never been refilled. I admit that they may be low on ink, but having 3 failed catridges may indicate something else. Luckily, when the color cartridge is removed, I can print with the black only.
My question is is there a way to tell a failed ink cartridge from a failed cartridge interface on the printer?

You may get some information by performing a nozzle diagnostic test as shown here. If the nozzle patterns are missing the same pattern on all three cartridges it would indicate a printer issue. Line 56 should be Stat = 0 for a good cartridge.
You might try cleaning the contacts as shown here (for a different cartrdige, but similar procedure).
Another thing to check would be the carriage chute. On some printer models there were issues that the spring could become dislodged. See part three here and the photo here. I do not know about the Deskjet 6940, but for some models the warranty has been extended through the end of 2008 for this issue. If you have damage as shown in the photo contact HP support.

JScrollPane Scroll Position

Tried posting this in the newbie section with no luck....
I created a class extending a JScrollPane that encompasses a JTextPane. The method below appends some text to the current JTextPane with a certain color (this part works fine). What I am also trying to do is force the JScrollPane to keep focus at the bottom after the append if it was there before the append. Now I am running into trouble.
The code can determine fine if the scroll pane is at the end, but after the append, it sometimes prematurely puts the pane at the end again; i.e. the method is telling the scroll pane to go to the end before the text pane and/or scroll pane have finished updating their size. Thus, the scroll pane is moved to the bottom, then the text and scroll panes resize, and the scroll pane is no longer at the bottom.
It seems that this problem occurs when the text appended is multiple lines, in which case it appears that the panes are resized multiple times- the scroll bar is positioned correctly after the first resize, but subsequent resizings sometimes occur after I reposition the scroll bar to the current "end" (which then changes).
I've tried validating both panes to force them to update before repositioning the scroll bar, but this does not seem to stop the problem (although it may help).
Does anyone know how to correct this problem? I'm still guessing that something (perhaps the doc?) is not fully updated by the time I reposition the scroll bar. If this is the problem, any suggestions on how to force the document to be updated before playing with these GUI panes? If possible, I prefer not to use a timer or sleep a thread to wait for this updating.
Of course, if you know of existing methods/settings that help with this, please tell. I didn't manage to find anything in the API's that gave me what I want, but I've been known to overlook things from time to time ;)

Cant Scroll along Apperture Browser since SL update.

Ever since I bought snow Lopeard when it came out and updated Apperture I can no longer scroll my preview images in the browser. I can scroll if I highlight one image and move with the arrows left or right but I cannot select multiple images or scroll with the mighty mouse ball. This is quite a pain as I cannot email multiple images and I cannot select more than one images. Well I can but I have to scroll tow images at a time... select the image and scroll two images more... I cannot scroll to wherever I want.
I posted this before and some people had the same problem, any ideas if Apple are going to repair this... or dare I say it.. may have to migrate to Lightroom!!! Dum dum dum!!!

Have you updated to the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.2, many issues seem to be resolved with this update.

Specifically, have you deleted the Aperture user preferences, you can resolve many issues by restoring Aperture back to its original settings. This will not impact your image files or your library. To reset your Aperture user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences. Note: The tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
Remove the "com.apple.Aperture.plist" file from the Preferences folder.

Safari scroll speed

Is there a way to set a finite value to the relationship of (scroll speed) vs. (document length)?
If the page is medium size I enjoy the two finger scroll, but as the webpage/docuent becomes longer the scroll speed increases and becomes difficult to control.

PS I also think the scroll bar should include the arrows. I like the new clean look, but wonder if the resources and extra code is worth my user experience satisfaction to program in a set of 'hover-to-appear' scroll arrows. I like the no scroll bar. I like the no scroll bar then shows up when two finger scrolling. I like the hover and lock feature when the scroll bar is visible. I think this is when the arrows should be visible. Or even one step further; the arrows should become visible when the mouse hovers near the top or bottom of the screen. Again, this is useful for longer documents. The grab and drag method is difficult to control when the scroll bar is tiny and the smallest movement conducts multiple pages of scrolling.

You can also do a single tap, which takes half the time.

As an update to my previous post about the installation failure. I chatted with Adobe Customer Service but they were unable to help and told me to call tech support - last time I did that I was unable to resolve the problem after spending about 2 hours on the phone and they are only open during the week.
I solved the problem by:
1) Deactiviating CS5 Master Collection on my computer
2) Uninstalling the software from the control panel (I did not remove the serial number as I was planning on re-installing.
3) Downloading and running the Adobe CS5 Cleanup tool.
4) Reinstalling CS5 MC.
5) Downloading and installing all of the updates to bring the install up to date.
I am glad it is working as it should but really had better things to do with the 4-5 hours this took to do. Would be nice to have a tool to fix these types of problem without having to go thru the above especially considering the price the software costs...

Adobe forms - No scroll bar for Display only fields

I am using adobe forms for SAP Enterprise Portal. i am using these in Worklfows. In the form there is a text field with no size limit and Allows Multiple Lines. Any amount of text is allowed to be entered. when the form is viewed by the next person, the script in the form make the field as read only. This is as expected.
Problem: If there are multiple lines the scroll bar does not appear for the field. Entire content is not visible. Printout of the form prints the entire text from the field. In edit mode the scroll bar is displayed!!

Scrolling FAIL in Safari

Since upgrade to Lion, I am getting absolute scrolling failure in web pages.
The number of bugs that are coiming up in this very bad os, as it goes through daily use are unprecedented.
The newest is failure to be able to scroll up or down on web pages.
Also CLICK FAILURE and other unpredicatable page loading behavior.
This is happeneding with a 1 year old 17 in MacBook Pro and a 20 inch alum. iMac 2007.
iMac has newest trackpad.
Restart of Safari does not always fix it, sometimes requires a full restart.
The LION BUGS and FAILURES keep mounting up.
I HAVE applied the latest OS update
10.7.1 which fixed a wifi problem.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. There's nothing there to enable me to scroll up and down unless I extend the screen slightly to the right (as you look at it). Then it appears. Go to another page and it disappears and you have to extend the screen to the right again. Very time consuming and annoying if you're trying to get work done.

Primary site server a single point of failure?

I'm installing ConfigMgr 2012 R2, and employing a redundant design as much as possible. I have 2 servers, call them CM01,CM02, in a single primary site, and on each server I have installed the following roles: Management Point, Distribution Point, Software
Update Point, as well as the installing the SMS Provider on both servers. SQL is on a 3rd box.
I am now testing failover from a client perspective by powering down CM01 and querying the current management point on the client: (get-wmiobject -namespace root\ccm -class ccm_authority).CurrentManagementPoint . The management point assigned to
the client flips to the the 2nd server, CM02, as expected. However, when I try to open the CM management console, I cannot connect to the Site, and reading SMSAdminUI log reveals this error: "Provider machine not found".
Is the Primary site server a single point of failure?
Why can't I point the console to a secondary SMS provider?
If this just isn't possible, what is the course of action to restore console access once the Primary Site server is down?

Yes, that is a completely false statement. Using a CAS and multiple primaries in fact will introduce multiple single points of failure. The only technical Eason for a CAD a multiple primary sites is for scale out; i.e., supporting 100,000+ managed systems.
HA is achieved from a client perspective by adding multiple site systems hosting the client facing roles: MP, DP, SUP, App Catalog.
Beyond that, all other roles are non-critical to client operations and thus have no built-in HA mechanism. This includes the site server itself also.
The real question is what service that ConfigMgr provides do you need HA for?
