Multiple identical photos

As a new mac user I started backing up my digital photos from my memory sticks and CDs in order to finally have one master album with several years of pictures. However, I now have 6,000 pictures in the album with dozens of identical photos, sometimes duplicated three or more times. These were not manipulated versions, but rather the same picture stored in more than one source, and now taking up space in my master album. The pictures have the same creation date, size and name, when named. iPhoto did not reject these or ask for overwrite permission. Is there any way to have the program compare photos and erase or move one when two have the same characteristics?

You can burn your CD from within iPhoto to create a disc that will open in iPhoto and be accessible through the Source Pane. The CD will have the same structure as the iPhoto library. It will contain the database information to retain your albums, keywords, ratings, etc. It will consist of three folders with different versions of each photo:
Originals - your full-size photo, as you first imported to the library
Modified - the full-size, edited version of a photo. This includes photos rotated by a camera's auto-rotate feature.
Data - one thumbnail for each photo in the library, for displaying the library. This will reflect the Modified version if a photo has been modified.
There is another way to create a CD. If you simply want one version of each photo in your library, select them in iPhoto and File > Export > File Export to a folder on your desktop. Then burn that folder from the Finder. This CD will be more efficient and can be used by any computer (won't require iPhoto). The downside is that no iPhoto metadata, ie. albums, keywords, ratings, will travel with the photos. If you use it as a backup you will have to import the photos in to iPhoto and start from scratch.

Try using picture package. There is an option to print 10 copies on a single sheet.
1. Select your photo in Organizer
2. Click File >> Print
3. Choose picture package in section 4 of the print dialog
4. Select layout in section 5 and choose fill page with first photo
5. Click print button

What happened to "identical photo" warning

I seem to remember getting a warning when I would import photos that had already been imported. It went something like, "This photo is similar to one that already exists" or something to that effect. However, this evening I accidentally imported several identical photos, and am not being warned about it. Was there a change in an update that removed this little warning? Lame as it may sound, I kind of appreciate having that let me know. Otherwise, there sits multiple identical images in the library. I checked in Prefs. and didn't find much that would be helpful in this situation. I am using 5.04

iPhoto 5 still gives that warning. Quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto Pref file to the desktop. Launch iPhoto and try to import a duplicate and see if you get the message back.

Try this general troubleshooting procedure:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

Emailing multiple individual photos from iPhoto is causing the same image to be on different emails. Need help!

I am using iPhoto to edit my pictures from my Canon 60d. As I edit the photos, I send them by email within iPhoto (using the Large setting) to several members of my family. Last night I sent about 20 different pictures with different descriptive titles in the email to multiple people. However, when they view them in their email on their iPhones, it is showing the first picture over and over again, no matter what the title of the email says the photo is. It is even stretching the picture to either landscape or portrait depending on the view of the different pics in each email themselves but is still showing the same pic no matter the orientation.
I need to figure out if this is a bug with iPhoto and iPhone or if I need to do something different. You would think if you choose an image and email it, it would be THAT image. It only began within the last two weeks or so but it has been consistent when emailing multiple single photos. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

I've seen this issue myself between iPhoto and an iOS device. It appears to be an issue with the how the iOS device sees the email templates used by iPhoto '11's built in email feature.
Suggestions:
Let Apple know you have this issue: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
Go to iPhoto > Preferences > General > Email photos using > MailThis will bypass the email templates and send your images directly from the Apple Mail program. You won't have the pretty templates, but the images will come through (which is the important part in my opinion).
Keep your software up to date on your computer and on your iOS devices. (If / when a fix comes, that's how you'll get it.)

I have a question on identity plug-in for ses11.1.2.2, if multiple identity plug-in are activited/started, does this mean SES will check the identity from all these identity plug-in? for example:
Can I have this senario: user1 belongs to AD, user2 belongs to OID? both user1 and user2 can log in with SES when AD and OID plug-in are activied.

I want to double confirm your answer.
If this is the requirement:
1. Customer has an AD as backend authentication system.
2. Customer is using WCC(UCM) which uses that AD as authentication provider.
3. Customer uses SES to search UCM and NTFS(NTFS has ACL enabled)
In this scenario, the only option is to use fed search solution(1 SES instance for searching NTFS with AD plugin, another SES instance for searching UCM with StellentIdentityPlugin)?

I have multiple duplicate photos in my Photoshop Element 10 catalog - I have run across the compare a photo tutorials but I have possiblely some 200+ photos that are duplicates.
Has anyone come across a simpler way to remove duplicate photos?

Yes, but then using the "Reconnect All Missing Files" function in PSE will allow you to abort the reconnection and choose to delete all the missing files from the catalog.
As always, first experiment with a very small subset of the images to see if that method will work for you.

Multiple Galleria Photo Galleries on same page

I'm trying to use multiple BC Photo Galleries and Galleria to display a project gallery of images on the same page. Also, I'm a beginer at using Javascript and JQuery, so this might be a fairly simple deal, but my lack of experience is probably getting in the way.
There are multiple sections to this project gallery; landscaping, hardscapes, night lighting, pools, etc. I'd like the user to be able to click on one of the gallery sections and the Photo Gallery switches out to the new selected gallery, so that only one gallery is showing at time, but they stay on the same html page.
I need help with the following:
1. When you first visit the page, I only want the first gallery to show up. Then switch out with the others when you click on the other sections. Is this possible with Galleria, because of the way it computes the measurements of the stage within 5 sec?
2. Not sure how to fix this error: "Init failed: Gallery instance already initialized". I know this is happening because I'm running the init function for each project gallery. Is there a better way to do this?

Best approach to select multiple/all photos from the iOS CameraRoll?

I want to use FlashBuilder 4.5.1 to build a flex mobile photo organizer project that lets me select multiple photos from the iPhone Camera Roll.
I've seen the flash.media.CameraRoll class, but it only seems to provide CameraRoll.browseForImage() that opens a dialog to pick ONE photo.
Has anyone built an app that lets users select multiple photos or select all from the CameraRoll? Can you access the embedded thumbnail DB or do you have to import all the photos into the ApplicationStorageDirectory first? Am I better off writing a native iOS application?

I paid someone to write a Native iOS app that works ok, but it's hard for me to extend. The "select multiple/all" photos component works fine, but loading the photos into the app sandbox is VERY SLOW, and not properly threaded.

I have a JSP page where i include my page navigation as another JSP on the top and bottom of the page... since the previous and next links are submits of form I get a javascript error... how can i include multiple identical forms to one jsp page////

I can't figure out how to stop it from prompting people to do this... it's causing quite a lot of confusion!!

Slight file size discrepencies between identical photos?

While looking at the metadata of photos I am working with, I have noticed that identical photos in every single aspect of pertinent metadata (lense, focal, other various exif data) happens to have a slight file size discrepency. For instance, a dscf2001 has a file size of 752kbs and the duplicate dscf2001 has the file size of 732kbs. These photos have not been altered in any manner.
This situation happens with a large portion of my duplicate photos. One photo's file size is slightly bigger or smaller than the other photo that is the identical version in every single aspect minus the slight file size difference. Is this a math situation? If I open with another program will these photos appear as the same file size?

They have been copied between drives with different filesystems (iphoto and aperture and old macbook to new macbook). Maybe this is the issue?
How did you transit your images from iPhoto? Did you export them from iPhoto or import the iPhoto library? Have the images you are comparing been imported from iPhoto at the same time, from the same iPhoto versions?
If you compare the original master image files of the images in question in the Finder, do the originals have the same size?

Why filter causes multiple identical images in gridview to display in literoom 4.3?

I have not been able to find why multiple identical images are displaying in gridview when filters are applied. There is only one image in the folder. This obviously makes it difficult to apply images to keywords.
I simply can't find the reason. Neither is there anything in help on this issue.

I am in the process of organizing my Literoom images and filter displays
MULTIPLE IDENTICAL IMAGES, under METADATA STATUS changed. .
Computer info - Literoom 4.3, windows 7, some 55,000 images on the hardrive, one
catalog used.
When I go to folders, and click on J drive which holds these images, they all
come up if filter is off of course. Now using metadata I search on a date, a
camera, lense, etc. But I just want to find all of my images on a particular
day. I can find those with no problem. My problem is that I may have 2 or more
identical images display in grid and view as well as film strip. Looking up
metadate status I find that these images are CHANGED. I understand that status,
but there is no way that these multiple images would result from my work.
I searched for multiple files located in multiple folders - NOT THE CASE. What
is creating those multiple files, they are identical as to date, how they look,
etc?
If I go to CATALOG, and work with the all the images there, found at the top of
course, I get the same functionality, BUT THE MULTIPLE IMAGES ARE ABSENT.
I can't find the reason for this in any help. I would appreciate very much some
one telling me why this is takes place. It makes it difficult to keyword on
images on a certain date, because of the multiple files.
Filters are a powerful tool for organizing collections and keywords - my problem
is not using filters, but understanding why multiple images.
Further investigation this problem is found in any place - Catalog, or folder.
Believe me this is a PROBLEM. I need to find a live person somewhere in the
vast ocean of helps that can answer this question. I don't have a problem
understanding how to use it, I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY MULTIPLE IMAGES.

Error while creating multiple identity realms

I am trying the tutorial for creating multiple identity realms posted on

While executing "STEP 12" to enter the following values:
-User Search Base,
-User Creation Base,
-Group Search Base,
-Group Creation Base
I get the following error:
Identity Management Realm Modification Error!
Cannot Modify Identity Management Realm : [LDAP: error code 20 - Attribute Or Value Exists]
For some reason this step just doesnt seem to work. I am using OCS 10.1.1 on Solaris10

Hi. It is a "feature" of SRM.
I asked SAP about it and did not get a good response.
If you enter Asset A, it will copy the internal order number from that asset into the cart. You can not see the internal order in the web, but you can see it in BBP_PD.
If you then change the asset to asset B, it will not refresh the internal order number.
This means you get internal order A on asset B.
It happens any time you change asset number, so if you copy a line then change you will get this problem.
We ended up using the BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI to RFC into R/3 and update the internal order number.

Alternatives to Entourage that have its Multiple Identity feature?

I access all my mail through Microsoft Entourage. I use this mail client because of it's "Switch Identity" feature, meaning I can have entirely separate inboxes, folder lists, etc for each email address if necessary.
I'll always want to access email through a dedicated client rather than a web browser, and would only ever change from Entourage to another client if it also had a multiple identity feature.
Does anyone know of any Mac OS X email clients other than Entourage that have this feature and would run on my machine?
There's a long list of clients listed here, but it isn't obvious (to me anyway) which if any have a multiple identity feature other than Entourage.

Just so I'm clear - what I'm talking about isn't multiple accounts, but multiple identities - i.e. an entirely separate list of inboxes, folders, etc for each group of email accounts, with a *different default send address for each identity*, as per Entourage. With Entourage, to change Identity, you effectively have to log out of the program, select a different Identity, and then log back in, in order to switch. This is similar to logging in & out of the Mac OS itself.
I've hardly ever used Apple's Mail. Given that I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11, my version of Mail is 2.1.3. Assuming that Mail does in fact have a Multiple Identity feature, does 2.1.3 have this feature, or would I have to use a newer version of Mail?
This question also raises a few similar ones in my mind:
Is 2.1.3 the latest version of Mail that will run on Tiger?
What are the latest versions of Mail that will run on Leopard & Snow Leopard?
Given that my Mac can't run Snow Leopard but can run Leopard, would I have to upgrade to Leopard in order to run a version of Mail that has the Multiple Identity feature?
If there is a version of Mail that has a Multiple Identity feature and will run on my Mac, how do I access the feature? I've searched the Mail Help, but can only see references to setting up multiple accounts - there's no mention of multiple identities.
As for Thunderbird - I'd heard the name at some point but had no idea what it was. It looks like it's the Mozilla project's mail client, and as such should be of as high a standard as Firefox. If I'm unable to get Apple's Mail to work in the way I'd like, I may give Thunderbird a try.
My reason for wanting to switch to something other than Entourage is simply that it's far too big, complex & slow (on my machine at least) for my requirements. It's akin to me driving a Ferrari when all I need is a Ford Fiesta Mark IV (which is actually the car I drive!).
