Multiple IMAP issues in Outlook 2013

I know a lot of work has gone on with IMAP changes behind the scenes to make everything more responsive but some of these changes have adversely affected usability.
Here are my 3 main gripes:
1. If you have Outlook in Folder View so that you can see the "Sync Issues" folder you will see that Outlook 2013 now logs all activity to this folder and one ends up with thousands of entries per day filling this folder. I don't want these. Can I reduce
logging?
2. If you delete, edit or create IMAP folders to your account outside of Outlook you really have to fight to get Outlook to see the changes. Sometimes you have to remove the IMAP account completely and add it again just to get a proper view of the changes.
This is definitely something to do with the new caching regime. As an example Outlook does not seem to want to let go of folders deleted outside of Outlook (orphaned folders) and insists they still exist. For instance I can still move messages into these orphans
and Outlook accepts them and agrees they are there even though the folder no longer exists on the server. This is an accident waiting to happen.
3. This is a bug. If I delete a group of unread messages, usually, all except the top one show as deleted and ready to purge (grey with a line through). The top one remains not deleted and unread. As soon as I mark it as read it will then show as deleted
and ready to purge (grey with a line through).

I tested it just now. The registry data I mentioned is really aimed at either decreasing synch logging or to stop specific types of conflicts.
So I can confirm that we cannot turn off this folder base on current product design. This folder is designed for getting the basic troubleshooting information of Client Access issue.
Anyway, I am thinking two way for workaround:
1. Hide the sync issue folder via MFCMAPI, visit the following link to do that.
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/hidemovedeletemfcmapi.htm#hide
2. Create a Outlook rule to remove the items which is belongs to sync issue folder.
If someone has a better idea, please share it here. Thanks.
Cheers,
Tony Chen

  • IMAP settings for Outlook 2013

I am getting an "unrecognized response" error when setting up a residential IMAP Account in Outlook 2013 connecting to my Vz email account.
    the account specifics are using
    incoming.yahoo.verizon.net on 995 SSL
    outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net on 465 SSL
    Outgoing requires authentication.
Anyone who can has the right answer to set up an IMAP Account in Outlook 2013?  I think I have the right settings, but I cam getting this crazy error.  And of course, Vz help was not helpful as they do not support IMAP.  They only support easy items that are cheap to support not valuable and functional things clients want/need.
    Carey

Still more POP email accounts in the world then IMAP.
I was never a fan of leaving my message on a server, and like being able to access my email when I don't have internet access.
Imap is of course popular for those with smart phones/devices and not enough memory to store all their messages/attachments on them.

  • ICloud issues using Outlook 2013 calendar

I am running win7 (64bit) and Outlook 2013, using gmail / IMAP. I successfully installed and configured the iCloud control panel 3.1 and I am able to sync up my outlook calendar with my iPhone and iPad. However, I now can’t receive or send invites from/to other people from Outlook or my i-devices. If someone sends me a calendar invite, it never shows up on the outlook calendar/i-devices and conversely if I send an invite to someone other than myself from either Outlook or any of my i-devices the recipient never gets it. I noticed after configuring iCloud that my local Outlook calendar disappeared and ended up in my gmail “trash folder” after the iCloud program uploaded my calendar to iCloud.
I followed all available tips I could find to solve this problem but no luck. If anybody has a similar issue and found a cure, please let me know – any help is much appreciated!

  • Unable to configure multiple Exchange accounts in Outlook 2013

This is a complicated issue so I will try to describe it the best I can.
I have a client with two SBS servers for two different organizations in two different locations.  Each server handles completely different domains.  Let's call them A and B.
The issue is this...using Outlook 2010 or 2013 on clients at location B, I can configure Outlook for the users mailbox on server B just fine.  Some of the users at location B also have mailboxes on server A.  When I add a 2nd Exchange account for
the users mailbox on server A, things get weird.
Sometimes, when I start Outlook after adding the 2nd Exchange account, Outlook will show only one mailbox, but it is incorrect.  The top level will show it is a mailbox on server B, but it contains email from server A.  When this happens, email
actually transfers from one mailbox to the other.  I have to close Outlook quickly before things get out of hand. About a year ago, I determined that if the user has the same username and password for their mailbox on server A and server B, this would
cause the problem.  So I changed the users' username on server B and it seemed to work with Outlook 2010.
Now, a year later, we have a new user with Outlook 2013 with a mailbox on server A and server B, who works in location B.  I setup Outlook 2013 with mailbox B and it's fine.  I add a 2nd Exchange account for mailbox A to their Outlook Profile,
and when I launch Outlook, it shows both.  BUT, the mailbox A has nothing in it, and the status shows "This folder has not yet updated.  CONNECTED".  Mailbox B shows "All folders up to date.  Connected to Microsoft Exchange".
Also, existing email from mailbox A starts showing up in mailbox B.  If I go into mail account settings, I get the "Outlook is using temporary mailbox" dialog, meaning something has moved.  If I look at the two accounts, both look
to be using the same OST file, even though under data files, there are two OST files, one for each mailbox account.  If I delete the 2nd Exchange account (A), Outlook works again for the single mailbox on server B.
I've tried configuring the accounts without cached mode, but that doesn't work either.  Mailbox B had a delegate account (Full access permissions) to another account on server B, but I have tried removing that also, but no change.
I cannot figure out why I cannot have two Exchange accounts, one from each server (A and B) in Outlook 2013/2010 at the same time.
    HELP!
Thank for any ideas.  I hope I haven't made this too confusing.  One last thing...when I add the 2nd Exchange mailbox, I authenticate with the username on server A with domain\username and their password.  The authentication seems to be accepted
fine and without error.  I have also tried configuring the 2nd account using "automatic" instead of configuring manually.  Same problem.

OK, I have done some more testing as you suggested.  I created yet another new profile with just mailbox A.  When I start Outlook, I see the users mailbox, plus a mailbox that the user has been given Full Permissions to (a delegate?).  There
is one more mailbox that this user has full permissions to, but it did not auto-add itself, so I added the mailbox through the account properties.  Now, all three mailboxes at location A are in Outlook (users mailbox and 2 delegate mailboxes).  In
Outlook, on the left, has at the top the users main mailbox, and then below it are two other "branches" for the delegate mailboxes.  I did NOT use cached exchange mode, btw.
I quit Outlook and edited the profile, adding another exchange account for the users mailbox at location B.  I did a "check-name" and authenticated OK.
I launched Outlook, and the same (wrong) thing happens.  On the left pane of Outlook, at the top, it shows it is the users mailbox at location B (the main branch says Mailbox name -- location B), but all the folders and content are from mailbox at location
    A.  Outlook has mixed it up, and it is at this point that email starts moving between mailboxes, so I quit Outlook quickly.  It did show the two delegate mailboxes from location A, but there were just three "branches", and nowhere is there
    the real mailbox B.
Can it have anything to do with the fact that these accounts have delegates (or are given full manage permissions to other mailboxes on the  server)??
UPDATE:  I just determined something.  When looking at the Outlook email accounts dialog, for each account it shows the default delivery location.  For the first account (location A), it shows:
"Selected account delivers new messages to the following location:  usersemail@locationA\Inbox".
When I add the users mailbox for location B, it shows:
"Selected account delivers new messages to the following location:  usersemail@locationB\Inbox".
However, when I start Outlook, and see that things are wrong and quit, I go back into the accounts dialog, and BOTH accounts are set to deliver to the SAME location:
"Selected account delivers new messages to the following location:  usersemail@locationA\Inbox".
So now, the 2nd exchange account has changed it's location to deliver to mailbox A instead of B.
    Crazy stuff.

  • Icloud calendar issues in Outlook 2013

I have I cloud to sync email/contacts/calendar between my HP Desktop/IPad/Android.  When I enter an appointment in the I Cloud calendar within Outlook 2013, the pm option in the time drop down box always reverts to am.  I have to correct the time on I pad or phone (this then syncs correctly to Desktop). Can anyone shed any light on this?

  • Issue with Outlook 2013-Notifications from published Calendar

    Hi Every body,
I'm setting up for my little company published calendars on a Webdav servers (i'm using IIS on a 2003 server and Office 2013).
Publishing calendar works fine so far.
But i'm facing up a real issue:
When a user add other's published calendar the first user will also recieve Calendar alerts (appoitement alerts) from the added calendars (others users). Since i have arround 10 Shared calendar it's very frustating for users to be disturbed because of other's
    calendars.
I've been looking for a way to disable those alerts but i can't find a way. on the Outlook settings.
(I also want to keep personal alerts up)
Please help me i'm becoming very frustaded.
    Best regards
    Fred

Well that's not the same calendar in outlook it's a realy different calendar that you get from your webdav server.
so i remind the whole process just to be clear =)
10 differents users are publishing their own outlook calendar on the webdav server.
So there is 10 differents ICS calendar into the server. But remember ICS calendar are copy from the originals calendar they need to be kept up to date.
Then some users pick the calendars they need from the server and add it into they own outlook.
in this way it appears as a whole different calendar in outlook.
When you publish a calendar from outlook,(right clikc onto the calendar => share => publish into webdav server) your have 3 ways to publish it, 3differents options. I can't translate properly since my version is in french. But just to make it short:
    1)
The first way to publish it is not useful in my case because it doesn't provide enougth information into my ics calendar. about my appoitements.
    2)
The second option looks good to me because it does'nt provide VALARM option Inside the ICS calendar.
But  with this option the message inside appoitements are missing.
    3)
The third option Include everything about the appoitement (and the VALARM). An thats actualy my problem.
And Yes i'm editing the ICS file that what make me understood how the whole process works.

  • EAC and IMAP Issues after Exchange 2013 CU6

After deploying CU6 to Exchange servers there is no way to perform activities on Exchange Online (cosidering hybrid deployment). I noticed that there is a fix for it in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2997355 but
it seems that it doesn’t do the trick. After installing CU6 file which is altered in the script cannot be found (RemoteDomains.xaml).
Also after installing CU6 I've noticed issue with IMAP and Thunderbird. It seems that commands like move are interpreted by the server as bad commands (error 12).
Did you encounter with any of those problems? Do you have/recommend any workaround or fix?

No, Exchange is in default direcotry. I've even tried v2 of script which gets Exchange path from registry.
This file does not exist (I've looked on both CAS na MDBs)

  • Outlook 2013 not syncing subfolders - IMAP

    Hello,
Currently having issues with Outlook 2013 / Office 365 not syncing subfolders correctly.
    Example.
Receive email > answer email > move email over to new subfolder > goto subfolder and email does not show?? > go to webmail and both email and subfolder show correctly.
Read lots of articles on this but no solution to the problem.
    article 1 - http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/email/email-troubleshooting/imap-issues-affecting-outlook-2013-and-office-365-functionality
If this carries on then a move back to Thunderbird is on the cards as i've imaged this along side outlook and do not have any issues with thunderbird.  it works perfectly... unlike Outlook.

goto subfolder and email does not show?? > go to webmail and both email and subfolder show correctly.
As per the description above, it seems the subfolder and email message got uploaded correctly to the server, it's just not display in the subfolder in Outlook 2013 client side. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
Does this only happen to this specific subfolder?
To troubleshoot this issue, I would suggest we first check what view settings you have of this faulty folder. Maybe you have it set for Unread Messages Only or something that is filtering out the messages you just moved:
Select the folder, go to "VIEW" tab on the ribbon
Click "View Settings" button. On the "Advanced View Settings" dialog, click "Filter..." button
Check if you have any filters which might filter out the message. Clear it, then try again.
Hope this helps, please feel free to post back with any findings.

  • Emails show up on web but not in Outlook 2013 inbox

I have several email accounts and one of them that is working fine on Outlook 2013 is set up as a Microsoft Exchange account. But the other ones are set up as IMAP/SMTP accounts and the emails don't show up in the inbox, only on the web. When I check the
settings and run a test, everything goes through fine. Why don't the emails show up in my Outlook 2013 inbox? Help!

    Hi,
What's the build number of Outlook you are using? Please first make sure you have installed all available updates. This is because Microsoft has released an update before which has fixed several IMAP issues in Outlook 2013. See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2837618
If above doesn't fix the issue, we may also try the following steps to see the result:
    1. Open Outlook, click File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings.
    2. Double-click your IMAP account to open the Change Account
    wizard.
    3. Click More Settings button, click Advanced tab.
    4. Under Folders heading, type Inbox in the blank box.
    5. Click OK and then click Next to complete the configuration.
Please let me know the result.

  • SBS2011/Exchange 2010 + Outlook 2013 Flow Issues

    Hi everybody,
Some time ago I've configured a SBS2011 server for one of my customers.
The SBS2011 has exchange and sharepoint, these services work fine.
The exchange server is only being used for the calendars, no e-mail flow.
The company uses IMAP through an external hosting-server.
So in Outlook 2013 we configure 2 accounts, one exchange account and one IMAP account.
Configuring the clients isn't a problem, and all seems fine, the calendar works.
But when the e-mail flow starts, users wil receive the same email multiple times and it seems the system is in a loop. E-mail flow will stop or the users get the same e-mails multiple times.
I've checked multiple solution regarding Win8+Outlook 2013 and IMAP, (issue about an update and setting the right root folder), but nothing seems to help.
We installed Outlook 2007 on the clients and configured them with both of the accounts and the system works like a charm! E-mail and the calendar are working like it should.
But the company bought about 20 Office 2013 licenses, so we need to get this to work on the new Outlook.
I don't think there is a problem in the Exchange Server, but in Outlook 2013, possible because both of the accounts share the same OST file.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Been running my mind for months.
    With kind regards,

    Hi,
Based on the description, I understand Outlook uses the calendar via Exchange and email via IMAP, so there are two accounts setup in Outlook 2013, correct? Then how come they share the same .ost file? Please try to configure an individual .ost file
for both accounts, check whether the issue persists.

  • Outlook 2013 IMAP connecting to Cisco Unity Voicemail

The ability to use IMAP in our Outlook 2013 stopped working back in November updates, we worked with MS Support for the other Outlook issues that were broken thinking that whatever fix would also resolve the IMAP issue. This was not the case.
Our voicemail is hosted on a Cisco Unity Server by our provider that we connect to using IMAP. Initially I was unable to connect to their server using IMAP because the November update sent their server to 100% CPU. After a Cisco patch I'm now able to
connect, however functionality is still not there.
Outlook 2010 clients seem to work fine. Outlook 2013 clients will sync the inbox the first time connecting but never after that, you are also unable to delete messages from the reading pane (able to open message and delete).
I'm aware of the root folder "Inbox" and the subscribe methods for troubleshooting this, however neither work.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go from here?
    Thanks much

So what eventually solved this was Office SP 1.
Below is a set of packet captures with Outlook 2013 interacting with a Unity server both before and after the SP was installed.

So the connectivity is work and the Outlook client now maintains functionality. The last thing I've noticed is that if you try to delete a message from either the view/reading pane or the home ribbon from Win 8/8.1 Outlook 2013/2013 SP1 it fails, you need
to go open the message to delete it.
On a Win7 machine Outlook 2013 you experienced the same thing, however after the SP1 is applied all deletion options work.
When you press the any delete key it seems the client is suppose to send an expunge command (noticed through wireshark). With the delete keys that do not function this command is not sent, those that do work the command is seen with wireshark.

  • Outlook 2013 IMAP Email Account Setings - What Is The "Mail To Keep Offline" Slider

I've just set up some IMAP accounts in Outlook 2013 and in POP And IMAP Account Settings there is a sliding control called
Mail To Keep Offline which is currently set to All.
I'm a little confused as to what this slider controls and how? Presumably it controls which emails are synced to the server but if for example I set it to 24 months does it mean that all email up to 24 months old is synced to the server or
all email over 24 months old is synced to the server.
The lack of help in the product on this is not very good.

This new feature is called Data Based Sync Slider. This allows you to limit the amount of data that is synchronized locally to your OST.  The purpose of the slider is to make Outlook usable on devices that have limited or small amounts of local
    storage.  ---- (1/3/6/12/All month)
If you set it to 24 months, the email up to 24 month would not sync/cache to your local OST file, all old messages would stay at server.

  • Outlook 2013 continually prompting for credentials on new domain

    Greetings,
I first posted this in the Office365 community forums and was directed here.
We are experiencing an issue where Outlook 2013 (Office365 install) is prompting for user credentials every time it is opened, despite checking the option to remember the credentials. So far we've tried a number of troubleshooting steps, but nothing
has resolved the issue. The issue is happening to multiple users on multiple computers.
    We are running:
    Outlook 2013 (32-bit) (Office 365 install)
    Windows 7.1 Professional (x64)
Computer is domain joined (Server 2012 R2 Domain Controllers)
Mail is hosted on Office 365
    We've tried:
Clearing the Outlook and Office credentials from Credential Manager.
Removing the mail profile and the saved credentials from Credential Manager, then re-adding the mail profile.
We've tried adding the mail profile with both a manual configuration of the server settings and allowing Outlook to automatically configure them.

both domains have been set up to be identical. The issue occurs on computers that were built directly on the new domain as well as computers built on old domain and migrated over. Machines that are not domain joined or are still on the old domain are not experiencing
    the issue.
If any of you could provide any insight or other steps that we could try I'd greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks

    Hi,
For the issue that Outlook keeps prompting for password, I usually suggest users follow the steps in this article below, but apparently you have tried almost all the steps:
Why does Outlook keep prompting for password
I've seen some similar issues that were caused by an old "network driver", which for some reason caused a wrong server name to propagate up from the network layer to the application layer. Updating the network driver would fix the issue, I'm
not sure if this works in your scenario though.

Following the Faulting Module Path, there are only about 4 files in that Folder and none of them are the mso.dll.  The only place I found the mso.dll was in
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\vfs\ProgramFilesCommonX86\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE15
Both users have all their Office and Windows updates.  I confirmed that they weren't running Outlook in compatibility mode.  I have recreated their Outlook profile,
done a quick repair and an Online Repair.  I have done a full uninstall via Microsoft's Fix-it and resinstall and update.  I copied the mso.dll file from an up to date system that isn't having the issue.  The users still report the issue and
are getting increasingly frustrated when it pops up.

I am having the same issue with outlook 2013.  It is very random.  Like today I was trying to send out a meeting request and outlook kept crashing with the error below.  I literally had to add each person one at a time in order to keep outlook
from crashing.  This is very frustrating.  Other times it is a simple reply to an email that will cause this crash.  After a reboot it may not happen for days.  Very strange.
