Multiple IMAP Path Prefixes in Mail

Is there any way I can put mutiple IMAP Path Prefixes under Accounts in Mail? Furthermore there is a pulldown under my INBOX full of mailboxes that are already deleted on the server... when I select delete there is a popup that says they're already deleted... ok...

This being an IMAP account, you may just delete it and set it up again -- beware that doing that with a POP account would cause all your mail stored in the account’s mailboxes to be deleted as well, though.

  • Where can I find my IMAP  Path Prefix for MAIL?

I am unable to send mail from my IMAC OS X v 10.6.8. I use Airport Extreme and Use a WiFi Network.  This only happened recently but whenever I try to sent a message it says “Can’t send message using the server smpt.aol.com" This is what I use and if I hit connection doctor both aol mail and smtp.aol.com are both green and says able to connect to the interenet. So what is the problem with my Apple Mail or what am I doing wrong.  I also tried setting on mail on my IPOD Version 6.1.6.  I am unsure what is causing this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Would this have anything to do with Icloud.  I have Icloud mail but right now it’s shut off on my ipod.

Settings match below. Have you tried deleting the account and adding it back?

  • Emails from camera roll saved to wrong folder -- IMAP Path Prefix Problem

I think there's a problem with the behaviour of the way picture emails are saved when you have an IMAP Path Prefix.
I have an IMAP Path Prefix of "INBOX"... i.e. my sent folder is Inbox/Sent. Any plaintext emails I send from the email application from the iPhone are correctly saved to that folder and I can see them in that folder immediately via the iPhone's interface.
When I navigate to the camera roll or photo album and send a picture email to somebody, and use the iPhone to go view the sent folder, they never appear in the sent folder. For a while I thought they weren't being saved at all, but I just discovered from my home PC that the camera roll app is indeed saving them somewhere: in Inbox/Inbox/Sent.
That's right--I now have a new Inbox folder inside my Inbox folder, with just a Drafts and Sent folder. Drafts is Empty, Sent has all the picture emails I've ever sent with the iPhone.
Bug? I think so... Emails emanating from the camera app are taking the IMAP Path Prefix twice instead of once, and then creating that Path Prefix folder if it doesn't already exist.
Anybody else with an IMAP Path Prefix experiencing this with picture emails from the camera roll?
    Thanks,
    Andi

Ahhh interesting to find someone else with the same problem! It definitely happens when you send a photo message. My mac mail it shows my Inbox with a new nested sent items folder. I am using fusemail and the iPhone seriously messes with the folder structure. All sent items folders vanished for some reason on the mail server (but not in mac mail oddly) and I had to call technical support to make them reappear. I think this happened when I altered the Settings, Mail, Advanced settings, Mail box behaviour folders after having this problem with sent photo messages.
Now fusemail's webserver shows TWO Inboxes, one nested inside the other, and a "Sent Items" folder within the "new" inboxes.
Totally strange. I think there is a bug or two in the iPhone's IMAP software. Hoping for a bug fix soon, but until then perhaps a good work around might be to set the iPhone to store sent messages locally?

  • IOS7: IMAP path prefix is not saved

After updating to iOS7, at first I could still see all the folders on the IMAP server (Sent, Trash, etc. which are all on the level below Inbox, e.g. Inbox/Sent Items, Inbox/Deleted Items -> therefore the IMAP path prefix is "Inbox" - without quotes of course), but then at some point they randomly disappeared. So I checked the IMAP path prefix, which was set to "Inbox" (which worked just fine on iOS6, as it should because of the folder hierarchy on the IMAP server). I tried deleting the Mail account from the iPhone, rebooting, then creating the Mail account again. I tried INBOX, inbox and Inbox/ for the prefix. I noticed that the settings frequently delete the IMAP path prefix (I would type it in, save the Mail settings, check if the prefix was still there and it was gone).
This is the really the first time the IMAP settings on the iPhone are giving me so much trouble and I have no idea what else I could do. The exact same Mail account with the exact same settings worked perfectly with iOS6. Any advice is much appreciated.

Also, the iMAP Path Prefix is entered, but is grayed out, so I get the error message, as above, that the window "cannot be empty."  Very frustrating.

  • How to use a subscribed IMAP folder list in Mail?

Macbook, 10.8.2 (upgraded from 10.6.8.), WU-IMAPd, Unix host.  Multiple IMAP clients from OSX and other devices, but this is a query about the Macbook.
I used mail filtering tools (e.g. procmail for inbound stuff) to auto-magically file much stuff in folders at /home/cookie.hunter/Mail.
Mail.app shows no signs of recognizing ~/.mailboxlist (a T-birdish convention for identifying "subscribed folders" on a remote IMAPd host and occassionally other MUA clients).
If 'IMAP Path Prefix' (Preferences / Accounts / Advanced) is set to '/' (the default), Mail.app tries to read every file below /home/cookie.hunter looking for things that appear to be mail folders.  This is undersirable.
If 'IMAP Path Prefix' is set to 'Mail' (corresponding to /home/cookie.hunter/Mail), Mail.app constrains it's search to that territory.  While this is an improvement over trying to examine many G's of data, the result is the inclusion of many e-mails (the vast majority) that are retained only so that I can reach back in time (using tools other than Mail.app)  to locate historical details.  A smallndser subset of folders contains mail of current interest.
That's the dilemma.  Does Mail.app contain any mechanism similar to .mailboxlist file?
Haven't yet tried fooling Mail.app with a sym-link structure for the path prefix.  You'd prefer that these things work the way they're "supposed" to work before inventing kludgey work-arounds.
No, I can't imagine why I'd want to let my Macbook (which I love) be the primary mail store for my life.  Although I use the Macbook more and more all of the time and it's probably my primary platform these days, it will never be my only platform ..
Suggestions welcome.  My expectations are ... low.
    Thanks.

I long ago (10 yrs?) complained that the Subscription List window seemed broken as it showed no folders (after spending time asking for them) and there was no way to alter subscribed mailboxes.  Although my feedback fell on deaf ears, maybe you might find someone willing to fix this for one of Apple's main apps.
Since you didn't mention this, and it is hard to find, here's how:
In the usual left hand window, Control-Click on one of the occurences of your IMAP account (for instance, under Inbox).  In the "Account Info" window that pops up, choose the "Subscription List" tab.
But, I find that window to be empty always.
I believe that the .mailboxlist file would be managed by the IMAP server, not any client, but I haven't checked the code.  I had always thought the subscribed folders should be unique to each client, but when I've added new clients, I notice I've got my "standard" set of subscribed folders.
You may have wanted to have
       set mail-subdirectory MAIL
in your /etc/c-client.cf  file instead of having your mail prefix as MAIL.  But don't do that without researching it on your own.
A corollary to this issue is that Apple Mail does not allow you to choose which folders are stored on your client.  Either you get all messages of all folders for an account, or none.  Having subscribed folders would make this a little more bearable since you could unsubscribe from folders you might not read for a year.

  • "Import Mailboxes" can't see IMAP inbox in backup Mail folder

So, a friend of mine thought he'd be efficient and, via the webmail interface, deleted all the messages in the Inboxes of two IMAP accounts (hosted by Fatcow). He did not understand that this would delete all the messages in the inboxes on his computer, too. He understands IMAP better now that we've had a talk!*
We have a backup copy of his ~Library/Mail folder, and I thought it would be a piece of cake to use Import Mailboxes to reimport those missing messages back into Mail, from where he could drag them back into the Inboxes in the cloud. Being a Mac consultant, I have done this very thing many times.
However, no matter what we do, the Import Mailboxes dialog will not offer those two inboxes in the list of mailboxes to choose from. We see all the other boxes, including two inactive POP accounts. When we look inside the backup Mail folder in the Finder, we can open the IMAP folder for each account and burrow down to the actual messages. The hierarchy there is kind of too deep, perhaps because the IMAP Path Prefix in his account preferences is incorrect--one of the accounts has the final Inbox with the messages inside another Inbox folder inside the IMAP account folder**. This is the only reason I can think of that Import Mailboxes would not be able to see those inboxes. Does anyone know if it would work if I moved the final Inbox folder higher up in the hierarchy?
Thanks very much for any assistance.
*Please don't ask why he wasn't using Time Machine. He will be, very soon.
**I can't reproduce it exactly here because I was working with him over a LogMeIn connection, as he's in another state. Geographically speaking, not emotionally.

in finder rename the backup imap inbox from INBOX.imapmbox to INBOX.mbox. then Mail will let you import it if you choose it directly when importing mail.

  • Mail.app handling multiple IMAP accounts

    Hi,
I find it really hard to use multiple IMAP accounts with Mail.app. The way it displays IMAP accounts is really ugly and very confusing. At best you have one Inbox which displays all the Inboxes on your accounts. Then you have separate drafts, sent, trash treelike view for your accounts "special" mailboxes and then again some-kind-of-tree-view of your IMAP account - which by the way doesn't always even display! It depends if you have checked save trash/sent/junk/etc. messages to server or something which really doesn't have any logic in it. Also it doesn't display all the folders like Inbox (which is combined mailbox at the top which I explained). Then you can drag mailbox from your IMAP account to the "panel" which I think only copies and is not shortcut.
Could you please do something to this instead of adding some ugly templates for sending your holiday pictures to your mom. I think that Mail.app should be developed to more "professional" usage, rather than develope features that teaches people to use their mailclient as a personal spamming tool for horrible HTML-mails.
ps. I'd also like to turn off that stupid embedded-attachemts. Attachments are attachments and not a part of the email content thanks.
    -edit-
you can see a screenshot of my Mail.app at work. I use more mailboxes at home and it's way more ugly. There should also be somekind of "don't display" -options as it displays some horrible Exchange-folders also.

  • Mail - Multiple Imap Accounts - Sent Folders

I have multiple Imap accounts set up in my mail.app. I know of the feature to set the the sent mail folder. But what do I do with multiple imap accounts and multiple sent folders? When I would like all my accounts to have the correct sent items.

Not every IMAP server requires that you use that command -- if not needed, then the options for that command will be gray when you select an individual Sent mailbox from the Sidebar. Are you saying there is no black triangle beside the Sent icon, even though you have sent a message from the account?
Control click on the Inbox of the second IMAP account, and choose Get Account Info -- there, under the Quota Limits tab you will see all the folders that currently exist on that IMAP server. What do you see?

  • Mii attach multiple files in one e-mail

    Hello everyone
    This is Yuko.
There are two MII may have a problem with email attachments.
    1. Once you attach multiple files in one e-mail
    Please tell me how this
    2. Can not be above 1, and compiled into a single ZIP file.
Now, I can attach multiple files in one e-mail,
When you extract the ZIP, just made away with the file directory path is created,
you can not open the attachment and open the folder several times.
Anyone know a solution to this problem, please tell me.

    Kevin, Thanks for answers.
    My English is poor. Sorry.
Your answer is, we assume that the permit issue, and probably would not matter. Again, write the points in need.
For example, the two CSV when put together in one ZIP file, the workbench in the CSV file to specify the full path. CSV file, the workbench under the Web folder and then five in the second tier. At this time, who received an email with this attachment is to open the attachments, ZIP and open the file, open the following folder hierarchy, the next ..., and, many times to open the folder , will finally open a CSV file. Many times without opening the folder you want to open a CSV file.
    We look forward advice.

  • Multiple Email Accounts using MS Mail

I want to setup multiple email accounts using MS mail.  My already has an account, but I want to add an account for my son.  I've added the account on verizon and in MS mail.  However, I want to have completly separate accounts so that when my son opens his email  he only see his email and when my wife opens her email, she only sees her email.  Right now, when MS mail is opened both their emails come up and when they send an email, they must select which email account they are sending from.
Does anyone know how to do this?

One option would be to not use MS Mail (I assume you really mean Windows Live Mail?).   You could create accounts for them and have them just use the Web mail interface to get to their mail.
Another option would be to give each person their own "user account" on your machine instead of all logging into the computer as the same userid.   If you do this, any mail settings will remain with the individual account.

  • How to build the "Path Prefix" HTTP Adapter at run time

    Hi All,
I have a scenario wherein I have to call the HTTP Url of a thiird party system from R/3 via PI.
The third party url looks liike this:
    http://gis/ias/cgi-bin/siscgi.exe?request=batch&command=<requests><request><name>sis_neighbouring_knos_for_sambandh_service</name><buffer>20</buffer><same_premise_kno>123</same_premise_kno><l
    eft_kno>331</left_kno><gis_id>4019589</gis_id><priority>same_premise_kno,left_kno,right_kno,gis_id</priority></request></requests>&user_name=sambandh.sias&pa
    ssword=sambandhsias
I have successfully created a HTTP Recevier comm channel and provided the following in the "Path Prefix"
    /ias/cgi-bin/siscgi.exe?request=batch&command=<requests><request><name>sis_neighbouring_knos_for_sambandh_service</name><buffer>20</buffer><same_premise_kno>123</same_premise_kno><l
    eft_kno>331</left_kno><gis_id>4019589</gis_id><priority>same_premise_kno,left_kno,right_kno,gis_id</priority></request></requests>&user_name=sambandh.sias&pa
    ssword=sambandhsias
But If I need to pass the values inside the xml tags specified above e.g. "name" at run time, How do I do that?
I have explored the "Apply URL Parameters" option in the HTTP Comm channel but it has fixed names for the HTTP URL parameter.
Please let me know how is this possible hopefully without a UDF

  • Changing multiple texture paths in Adobe Flash CS5

    Hey everyone,
I'm desperately searching for a way to swap out multiple texture paths of images in my library.
For instance, say I put a set of 5 textures in Adobe/Bitmaps. Later I decide to move the 5 textures to Adobe/Textures and delete the old directory. What I typically have to do is go into each texture file's properties and re-import the image with the new path in place.
This is fine if I were only dealing with a handful of textures, but as it is, I have nearly 75 or so textures to re-path! If anyone knows of an out-of-the-box way around this or knows of any Flash extensions that could get around this issue and wouldn't mind sharing it here, I'd greatly appreciate it! I've searched around on google and have, so far, come up completely empty.
    Thanks in advance.

Well I did use actionscript for creating the actual index and effects, but AS3 was used no further for the index. I created an index which had links Part 1, Part 2 ,3,4,5 and clicking on each of them lead to different frames (using the mouseclick, goto and stop at frame (x) function.) Clicking on part one for example would lead to list of documents in that part. Sorry I can't be of any help, I'm totally new to this
