Multiple Index Files SharePoint 2013

Hello All,
In SharePoint 2013, is it possible to have more then one index files? I want to have separate index for one of my web application due to highly sensitive contents. What are other approaches other then creating a new Search service application ? Thoughts?

separate service app IS your option.
really, though, the security should be handled by the content... if user shouldn't have access to file X, make sure they don't... separate SSA's have other implications as well (since search results only come from one SSA, etc)... historically, separate
SSAs were (usually) created for scaling performance, which is no longer an issue with 2013.

Index on SharePoint 2013 Power view slide

Hi All,
I have PowerView Dashboard in Sharepoint 2013, and it has 42 slides. It make very bad impression in front of client to go all slide one by one. Is there any simplest way i.e We create index on my first page and according to index we create link to that slide
so that they can visit only those slide which they want.
Is there any possibility to do the same in powerview or any other way to do this.
Please help me for this.

I didn't install SQL Reporting Services, I install Reporting Services SharePoint Add-Inn from SQL media only. I did it according to below blog:

Today I found one thing that Power View feature will only work with multidimensional deployment mode after
install CU4 for SQL 2012 SP1. Today I'm going to install SP2 for SQL 2012, hope it help?
But I would like to confirm one thing, I should install it on server where I have PowerPivot Analysis instance
for SharePoint not on the external SQL from I get data to Power View report?

Multiple "Workflow Task (SharePoint 2013)" content type found

Users on one specific sub-site reported that they are unable to add site columns to content type. When user clicks "add existing site column" user get error message - upon looking up on ULS, it indicate there were duplicate column "System.ArgumentException:
No two choices should have the same ID". I came across similar issue on different site before and resolved it by deleting duplicate column, plus that site column was not used on any list or associated with any content type but this time duplicate
column is "Task outcome" column which is associated with "Workflow Task(SharePoint2013)" content type. So looking up these two specific site column and content type I noticed there are 8 occurrence of each at affected site
level (see below on image).
Similarly there are 8 "Task Outcome" columns under Site Columns. So I refreshed staging env with prod copy and tried to delete "Workflow Task(SharePoint 2013" content type and got error message as shown below. Under Site features, I noticed
"SharePoint 2013 Task List" feature was enabled, hoping this will do the trick I disabled it as we still use SharePoint 2010 workflows, but to no avail.

The content type "Workflow Task (SharePoint 2013)" is part of an application feature.
Not sure how it got started and something will try to find out but any advise on how to fix this issue?

Hi Sin,
According to your description, my understanding is that the users got an error when clicking “add existing site column”.
For deleting the duplicate “Task outcome”column, you need to go to the “Workflow Task(SharePoint 2013)” content type, click the “Task outcome” column, and remove it from the content type.
Then go to site columns, find the duplicate columns, and delete them and make sure only one “Task outcome” column exists.
After the above, re-add the “Task outcome” into the “Workflow Task(SharePoint 2013)” content type.

Search across multiple site collections SharePoint 2013

Hi Guys
I have a search center and Enterprise search configured in one site collection, I need to enable it to search content in other site collections too. I am using SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise on a Windows Server 2012 R2. Can I promote results from
a particular site collection if the user initiates search from that particular site collection..?

From your description, you want to find a way to promote result from a particular site collection when users search on
Enterprise Search site.
To add promoted result, you can create new query rule and add
Promoted Result or Result Block to highlight the results you want.
Moreover, What do you mean when you say promote results from a particular site collection if the user initiates search from that particular site collection?
A real sample? Please explain more about your requirement so that we can provide more detailed information.

Multiple File Attachment Column in Document Library (SharePoint 2013)

Hi All,
As per default, i will have only one column to attach documents in Document Library . But i need to add multiple column for documents attachment in same row.
e.g. See below column
1)Project Name 2) Attachment 1 3) Attachment 2 4)Attachment 3 5)Attachment 4
Kindly help me for creating such column (Hope there should be any coding requirements)

According to your issue what my understanding that if you need multi-document attachment is required then
then its not possible by default because As we had known, the Upload Multiple Documents option is deprecated in SharePoint Server 2013.
To work around this issue, my suggestion is do one of the following to upload documents to the SharePoint Server 2013 document library:
Use the Windows Explorer view
Use the SharePoint Server 2013 drag-and-drop functionality

Can't see 'Upload Multiple Document' option in sharepoint 2013

After upgrading Sharepoint 2010 to 2013, i can't see 'Upload Multiple Document' option under files tab. I have downloaded and place the file 'STSUPLD.DLL' into Office14 and Office15 folder but IE is not asking me to run any microsoft ActiveX control as mentioned here

According to your post, my understanding is that you could not see the “Upload Multiple Document” option in SharePoint 2013.
In SharePoint 2013 the “Upload Multiple” Options has been depreciated. As we all known, there are two alternative ways to Upload multiple documents:option
1 - Using the drag-and-drop functionality, option 2 - Windows Explorer view.
You can upgrade your IE from IE9 to IE10 then check whether it works.
You can also use the Windows Explorer view to upload multiple documents.
You will probably get the following error.
To resolve this add the SharePoint site as Trusted in your Browser and Make sure that the WebClient service is running. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then press Enter.
In the list of services, locate the WebClient service, and then make sure that its status in the Status column is set to Started. If its status is not set to Started, double-click WebClient, click Start, and then click OK.
Once done restart the browser and try opening the Windows Explorer again. In the Windows Explorer you can copy and paste Multiple documents as done in earlier SharePoint versions.

Get Document ID based on specific folder in SharePoint 2013 document library

Hi,
I have created document library with multiple folders in SharePoint 2013.I have created workflow to assign file name convention like this "attachment name-ID".When i created document in one folder the ID is 1 and when I created document in another
folder, the Id is 2.
But my requirement is to create Id based on the folder means if document is not there in the folder then the document id should start from 1 and Id should ends within that folder and in another folder it should start from 1 again

Ribbon disabled on Publishing Pages in SharePoint 2013

When using a blank web part page in a Pages Library (Publishing Feature actived), the ribbon is disabled for a document web part on the page.
After adding the document web part and saving the page, I click in the document web part to activate the ribbon. Clicking on the Files tab in the ribbon display the document library ribbon but it is disabled. Clicking on the library tab also displays a disabled
ribbon.
We have been able to reproduce this in multiple instances of SharePoint 2013 Enterprise including on a client site.
This works in SP2010!
In a site pages library this also works in SP2013...
Is this a bug in SharePoint 2013 or is this working as designed in SharePoint 2013

Attach multiple files to a List Item in SharePoint 2013

Hi Guys,
I have a customer that want to attach multiple files to single list item in a dialog box. like Datasheet View, if we set up a Datasheet View and click on the Attachment cell, it opens a dialog box that allow to select and attach multiple files as one operation.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
As we know, if we want to attach multiple files, it only allow me to attach one file at a time, then repeat this process for every other file.

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to upload multiple files in SharePoint list.
There is no out of the box way to accomplish this with SharePoint.

Multiple file upload in SharePoint 2013 using AjaxFileUpload

Hi all,
I want to add multiple files using file upload control in our visual web part SharePoint 2013. I tried to use AjaxFileUpload (from Ajaxcontrol toolkit) in my visual web part and also added the handler in web.config as described in article (http://www.asp.net/ajaxLibrary/AjaxControlToolkitSampleSite/ajaxFileUpload/ajaxFileUpload.aspx).
But, it’s not even opening the browse dialog box.
I also tried to see if any third party control is available to achieve multiple file upload in SharePoint 2013 Visual web part, but without any success.
Please help.

Files are not getting updated in sharepoint 2013 because of office upload center error

Dear Team,
I am getting upload failed/upload error in Office Upload Center.
Scenario: I opened excel(version is 2013) file from sharepoint 2013 application and closed and after updating. Later when I opened the file I got error like "UPLOAD FAILED We are sorry this didn't work. Try saving again later and if that still doesn't
work, click save a copy."
I found the error is because file is getting upload failed / upload error in microsoft office upload center2013.
Please let me know if anyone know the solution for my issues

Hi Girishkg,
The default IIS limit for the upload file size is 30MB. If the selected files are larger than 30MB, the files are not uploaded.
The limit can be set in web application’s web.config file or in IIS .

Please check the following similar post suggested that each developer could deploy his dll file to each separated web application bin folder by setting Visual Studio property "Assembly Deployment Target" to "Web Application".

How do I add multiple audio webparts to a page in SharePoint 2013?

I need to add multiple media player webparts with audio files to a page in SharePoint 2013 so users can click the play button, listen to the file, then vote for the audio they like best. The problem is I can only get one audio to play at a time, and only
in certain browsers. I can get them to work intermittently in a Chrome browser, but not IE 10. When I publish the page and click the play arrow, it played the first time. Then I added two more audio player webparts to the page, and linked them to different
audio files (m4a and mpg). Now only one audio player will work, not the other 2.

Only Able To Add One File At A Time From Mapped SharePoint (2013) Drive to Outlook (2010) E-mail

I am using SharePoint 2013. I have mapped several network drives. When adding files off SharePoint to an Outlook email, I can only add one file at a time. I can add multiple files IF they are not on SharePoint (e.g., stored locally, or on Dropbox); Previously,

Hi,
There are two methods to add multiple files from SharePoint library to outlook emails:
Sync SharePoint library to outlook via “Connect to Outlook”, then you will find SharePoint Lists in outlook. Locate the library folder, you could select multiple items and drag them to an email.
Open SharePoint library via “Open with Explorer”, then you could selected multiple files and drag them to an email.
