Multiple Instances not responding

Whenever I have the number of instances set to more than 1 for compressor, they do not respond.
For example if I set 1 instance, the export works fine.
If make 3 instances the first 1 works but the other 2 do not.
Here is what the activity viewer is showing so you get what I mean.

What is the operating system on these computers? What browser are they using?

Hi,
We have two Oracle instacnes installed in same oracle home. They are not starting using windows 2000 service manager.
I have to go to svrmgrl and set the ORACLE_SID environment variable to startup each instance. How can I make them start through windows Services instead of manually doing it.
Is installing multiple instances in same home a good idea?
These multiple instances are not part of paralell server.

I have checked the registry keys and everything looks ok.
ORACLE_instance_AUTOSTART is true
ORACLE_instance_PFILE is correct
ORACLE_instance_SHUTDOWN is true
ORACLE_instance_SHUTDOWNTYPE is i
Above values are right for both instances. I even have recreated the services using ORADIM. I can start both instances by going to command prompt set ORACLE_SID and start the instance using SVRMGRL. But they'll not autostart when the machine is rebooted.

my GM has multiple account in Outlook 2007, in process of automatically send/receiving entire outlook shows "Not Responding" for 10-15 seconds.

There are a couple of common causes for this issue:
1. Virus scanner integration. Please try to disable its integration components and then test the issue again. Please consult the documentation of your virus scanner on how to properly disable its mail integration components.
2. Corrupt send/receive settings. Try go to %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook and reset the send/receive settings file (<profilename>.srs) to verify this.
3. Pst-file corruption and size. Try using the Inbox Repair Tool to scan and repair your pst-file to check if it helps.

I'm having a problem with my imac when i log in everything freezes up i have managed to get the activity monitor working before mail and safari get stuck with the dreaded spinning ball ( they both open at log in ) .The monitor eventually comes up with the message program not responding.when I click on the finder it also comes up as not responding and I have to switch off with the power button. I have logged on in safe mode and gone into disk utility and there is no problem with the hard drive i have also repaired disk permissions and i am still having the same problem. When i log into my wifes account everything is working fine .I was wondering if anyone could help me!

Multiple applications not responding, will not shut down

I own a mini from late 2007, 2 ghz model running 10.5.8.
Recently I started running into problems running ProTools 7.3.1 and plugins. The machine had a lot of different software on it, probably too much for its own good. So I decided to do a clean install. After the install I re-installed only ProTools, its plug ins, and a couple of other useful applications. Everything seemed to work well for the first week, and then yesterday I started noticing that programs were not responding. It seemed as though every single program that I tried to use would hang indefinitely and then resist force quitting. It would even happen to finder, and upon relaunching it the same things would start to happen. Restarting the machine made no difference. The hanging programs would actually not allow me to properly shut the machine down, so I had to hard boot it with the power button. This continued for 4 or 5 restarts, then I gave up on it.
Has anyone had a similar issue in the past? I am not sure what could be causing the problems.

So I unplugged all peripherals besides the keyboard, mouse and monitor. I ran some applications, open and closed some things, moved back and forth between programs, no problems whatsoever. Then I plugged my ProTools MBox back in, ran a ProTools session, saved things and closed it, also with no problems. I gave it a fresh restart just for the **** of it.
Everything seems to be working. I think that the problem may be the 1 terabyte external drive I had plugged into it. It's got about 430gb left of space on it. In the past I had a different drive that was 320gb, which burnt out on me after a while.
I used to work on files directly on the external drive, but I think I will stop doing that in order to preserve its functionality.

DG4MSQL: Multiple instances not working (only single instance)?

Hi I've been successfully using DG4MSQL for months to extract data from a local SQL Server 2005 instance to our 10g Ent 10.2.0.3 instance.
Today I was asked to add two more SQL server DB links on separate servers running the same version of SQL Server. Using the directions here seemed pretty straight forward, but I still can't get my two new SIDs (defined in the same listener) to respond. Every query over one of my new database links yields the usual

Yes I did restart the listener using an /etc/init.d/oracle_dg4msql script I created when I established the original instance. Interestingly, the output mentions only the one dg4msql instance with one service. It's like my listener.ora isn't even being used or the oracle_home isn't set correctly... D'oh!! Thanks for making me take a closer look. The correct listener.ora is not +/export/app/oracle-ee/product/dg4msql/dg4msql/admin/listener.ora+, it's +/export/app/oracle-ee/product/dg4msql/network/admin/listener.ora+. Yet another headache averted. Talk about annoyance! I'll put a big fat README reminder in that faux config folder. Thank you again.

Adobe reader XI not responding, multiple instances in the task manager is XI junk?

Hey everyone!
I need some help, I have about 175 computers that im working on and a hand full (more as the days go on) of them are having a problem with adobe reader XI.
Here is what is happening.
If im online pulling up a pdf from a finance company we use the pdf will begin to open (within the browser) and then you will get the blue loading bar
and then it gets almost to the end (somewhere between 80% and 99%) and then it will just freeze up or just display a white page where the pdf should be. It is doing this across a bunch of sites not just one or two.
The other thing i have noticed is that there are multiple instances (10 - 20) of the adobe reader xi in the task mananger if you close all them out some times it will start working some times it wont.
Here is what i have done.
1. removed adobe XI
2 reset the browsers
3 changed the settings with in reader XI
4 used the removal tool
5 tried a different browser
Im runing out of options!

Why Are There Multiple Instances Of Firefox Preparing To Access Internet According To Firewall Log When I'm Not Launching Them And Nothing Appeared On My Screen

I had closed Firefox after briefly running it and then tried to reopen it anew but got a message that said "Firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
I logged off my computer, and later restarted. However, when I checked my Firewall log it showed that during the minute I had my computer on earlier there were about a dozen instances of "Firefox is preparing to access the internet" which were recorded just seconds apart.
I don't have the problem now -- restarting apparently took care of the issue -- but I don't understand why there were so many instances of Firefox preparing to access the internet when I was not clicking on it all those times, the one time I did I got a message that it already was running, and there were no tabs on my screen to reflect all those supposed instances.
Thanks for any insight that folks can offer.

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes", try to exclude the cookies in case you currently have selected this.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Firefox will try to remove cookies created by plugins in case you clear the cookies and that can result in plugin-container processes getting created.

Multiple copies of same email and "Not Responding"

I have been fighting with Thunderbird for about a week now and have not had any luck resolving my problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have tried all of the suggestions on the FAQ page.
Here are my symptoms:
-Getting multiple copies of the same email with the same time stamp.
-Not pulling new emails.
-Whenever I try to navigate up or down through the inbox or open an email TB goes to Not Responding.
-I have gotten the following script warnings:

Here is what I have tried:
-I have totally removed and reinstalled TB (and recovered my profile).
-I compressed the folders.

Fortunately I have access to webmail through my ISP and it works fine.

McAfee have release a defective update, please contact them for support on changing the setting to something that actually works.
I have seen one poster here today that used their chat support and they "Fixed some setting" and all is now good.

Firefox is already running but is not responding - Cannot run Firefox on multiple machines with in a network (parent.lock)

Environment - Single File Server & 6 workstations.
I have a single generic user account/profile and log on to all 6 workstations at the same time (1 user, 1 password, 6 workstations).
I need to run firefox on all the workstations with the same user and user profile.
However, as soon as one user opens firefox all the others get the message "Firefox is already running but is not responding" and can not open the browser. No other workstations can open Firefox. I can only run 1 instance of Firefox in this scenario. How can I run it on all 6 with a single user account?
I have been back to the server and deleted the parent.lock file but it is recreated again as soon as someone open a firefox browser and the problem starts al over again.
Please - How can I get a single user with a single profile to run firefox on 6 workstations simultaneously?

hello timfarr, you cannot do that - many essential databases (like bookamrks, passwords etc.) in your profile are not designed to be accessed by different processes at the same time...

Firefox hangs with a "Script not responding" error message; in the meantime there are more and more flashplayer instances running

Recently I receive errors from Firefox at sites that were working fine before, always the same: a script is not responding, and I can wait, debug or stop. Waiting doesn't help (therefore pointless to change the 'dom.max_script_run_time' setting in the config); and also pointless to debug because the problem is not with the script. "Stop" eventually gets firefox to work, until the next error message which comes very soon.
I tried to reinstall both Firefox and Flashplayer, even manually wiped the traces from the user profile and program files. They are the latest 35.0.1 and 16.0.0.305 available now.
=> In the meantime, there are reproducing instances of flash players are spawned and running. They stay running even after firefox is closed or terminated.
=> if I disable the flash player plugin everything's fine except of course flash is not working. If I re-enable it, the problem starts over.
OS is Windows 8.1

I have a Problem, after the installing from Acrobat Testversion and acrobat reader in version in "all Combination" 8 an 9.
I get this misstake information "you can not use multiple instance of Program at the same time" if I want open more then 1 .pdf.
If I have no pdf open, but acrobat/reader so i can´t open with the same Misstake.
I have deinstalled and installed, Allways I bekame the same information. I tryed all things to clean and know i don`t know forward.
Important: by Drag an Drop in the Acrobat Reader it is going, but by direct click on the pdf i get mistake.
Maybe, you know what I can do!

Installation of both Acrobat and Reader in the same Windows machine is not advisable. If I were you, I would remove both completely and then reinstall the one you want to keep.

Multiple instance SQL Server not working between VM's

I'm working with SQL Server 2014 running on Windows Server 2012 R2 Azure VM and having problems connecting to the SQL Server instance from a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM running IIS. The connection string and setup is the same as I have been using for several
years. The main difference is I am now running multiple instances on the SQL Server. Firewall is configured properly, SQL is in mixed authentication mode, configuration is identical to all the servers as ones configured in the past. Would there be anything
in the Virtual Network or in Azure that needs configured?

Is this VM deployed in a Virtual Network? If so, make sure to use static IPs, so that, in case the VM is rebooted, the IP remains constant. If not, this may be the cause of your problem, the IP will change when the VM reboots.
If you've tried to connect to the VM from outside the Virtual Network, then you need to create an endpoint for the SQL port. This needs to be configured for each instance of SQL Server on the VM.

The drop drop down box from Yahoo that says "Do you use the Yahoo! Toolbar on multiple computers? will not respond to clicking on it. It Stays in the drop down position covering other tabs and makes them unuseable.

this box with three options: learn more, save to my Yahooa1 ID, No thanks, just save to this computer, will not respond when any option is selected. It will not go away. It covers other tabs making them useless.

Did you ever figure this out? I bought my iPad last week to use in my business as well. I assume you are trying to use alldata? That is where I noticed this same issue. I had problems with identifix working with safari but downloaded a different browser and that works fine. Alldata does not work with either browser. The main difference is that on identifix if there is only one engine selection, it automatically selects the only option and continues to the home page. With alldata you have to make the selection manually even if there is only one option. Honestly if I can't get this to work I am going to return the iPad as it looses a significant amount of usefulness to men
