Multiple instances of OBIEE11g in same server
Hi Experts,
I need some advice on Creating Multiple instances of OBIEE11g in same server.
the following are the details
i have got windows server R2, installed weblogic 10.3.6 with 64bit JDK, then oBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 software only install and configuration
till here everything is up and running without any issue.
now i want to set up second instance , need some clarifications on points mentioned below:-
1. same home directory can be used (c:\Middleware in my case) for second instance.
2. to start second time software only install shall i mention same c:\Middleware\Oracle_BI1 or shall i mention c:\Middleware\Oracle_B2
3. do i need to mention Bifoundation_domain and weblogic (userid, portno) separately
Awaiting your reply.
Cheers,
Ankit
Hi,
Once completed instance1 installation then try to another installance2 with custom port option.
*1. same home directory can be used (c:\Middleware in my case) for second instance.*
Yes
*2. to start second time software only install shall i mention same c:\Middleware\Oracle_BI1 or shall i mention c:\Middleware\Oracle_B2*
Ensure that you install each instance into a separate Middleware home on that computer.
*3. do i need to mention Bifoundation_domain and weblogic (userid, portno) separately ?*
No need,1st install WebLogic Server first and then perform a Software Only Install then try to do the Configuration Assistant multiple times (or once for each instance) to configure each instance in the same, or shared, Middleware home.
for more, Refer section 2.2.3.2 - Installing Multiple, Standalone Oracle Business Intelligence Instances on a Single Computer - of the Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) E10539-02

How to create multiple instances of jboss on same server ?
Hi Friends,
I want to create two servers ( two instances of same server ) running on defferent ports , except default server in jboss.
I do not have any idea, will you please help me?
My server is jboss-4.0.0
e.g. "web" or "business" servers in
/jboss/server/web and
/jboss/server/businessHi Kcounsell,
Thank for your suggestion.
I have put bindingservice-plugin.jar in each server's lib directory.
But still i am getting the exception, because it is not getting the path of "bindings.xml" . I have given the hard coded path here.
Please look into the exception bellow.
How should i mention the path?
OR any other mistake is there?
Regards,
Prashant.

How Can I create a cluster of two instances running on the same server?
Hello,
I can't find how to create a cluster or even a failover rule for my two instances running on the same server ODSEE 11gR1.
Could you please help?
Thanks,Hello,
Clustering (intended as Sun Cluster, Veritas Cluster, etc... ) IS NOT SUPPORTED since 7.0:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E20295_01/pdf/821-1216.pdf [page 20]
and, based on my own experience, is the WORST way of achieving high availability of an LDAP Directory Service and an almost GRANTED way to get replication issues in your topology (lock, split, re-init, etc...).
Please use instead the 'application-level' clustering that you get out of the box with the Multi-Master Replication.

Multiple wiki's on the same server
Is it possible to have multiple wiki's on the same server. I do not mean having 2 wiki pages. however more like having 2 websites from the same server and each having their own wiki sites.
From just a quick play with the possibility both sites still reference from the same place so both sites would see the same wiki pages.
I was thinking of trying to use realms however the wiki info is not kept in the folder that is managed by realmsThis can be done, but it really depends on the load balancer you use.
There is no recommendation from BusinessObjects and you might want to consult the load balancer vendor for instructions and support.

Problem with multiple Toplink/JPA apps in same server
Anyone have experence of running serveral Toplink/ EJB-3 Web apps in the same server (OC4J, alas)?
We seem to get a problem with the second app failing to initialise toplink, with an entity not found message. Each app runs OK on it's own.Yes, they access the same datasource and most of the tables overlap.
We're thinking it might help to have common entity classes and put them in a shared library, but I don't know if this is relevant (setting up shared libraries complicates testing and tends to snowball, I reckon we need about 15 jars all told).
I''ve had some funnies on OC4J before which I think may be to do with it's use of ClassLoaders, for example I initially put persistence.xml in the libary jar with the data model, but for some reason I get the entity not found error that way. It only seems to work if it's in the classes folder.
For the moment we're getting arround the problem with multiple OC4J instances in the server. -
Running Multiple Web Dispatchers On The Same Server
Is it possible to run multiple instances of Web Dispatcher on the same server? I want to have one instance pointing to my WAS 6.40 system and the other instance pointing to my BW system. I have set up two services on the NT server: One named the standard sapwebdisp.exe and the other named sapwebdispbw.exe. I am using two separate profile files, one for each instance. The services start O.K. However, when I attempt to access my BW system using the HTTP port as defined in the BW profile and the Web Dispatcher profile, I get a message back saying that "The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the server." I have double checked that the service is running and that the BW system is up and available.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
DougHey guys,
it seems you are web dispatcher specialists
I have problems connecting even one server
I would like to add an Enterprise portal (DEP) to the web dispatcher.
My config file :
SAPSYSTEMNAME = SDM
SAPGLOBALHOST = webdispatch
SAPSYSTEM = 00
INSTANCE_NAME = W00
DIR_CT_RUN = $(DIR_EXE_ROOT)\$(OS_UNICODE)\NTI386
DIR_EXECUTABLE = $(DIR_CT_RUN)
Accesssability of Message Server
rdisp/mshost = 172.20.40.6
ms/http_port = 8101
Configuration for medium scenario
icm/max_conn = 500
icm/max_sockets = 1024
icm/req_queue_len = 500
icm/min_threads = 10
icm/max_threads = 50
mpi/total_size_MB = 80
SAP Web Dispatcher Ports
icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=80, TIMEOUT=120, EXTBIND=1, TIMEOUT=120, PROCTIMEOUT=120
Is it possible for you to paste your config file here ?
With explanation what the portal name is en waht the web dispatcher name is ?
The error I get :
no valid destination server available for '!ALL' rc=7
Where can I adjust this !ALL and !J2EE group ?
Where can I manage the /link/ ? (like /irj/portal)
If you need any info please let me know.
THank you for your time & help

Running multiple instances of program at same time problems
I have a c++ program that uses BerkeleyDB 4.8.26 with transactions. Program works well, and I can run multiple instances of program and they cooperate on database very well. Problem arises when I run a small test program that runs 10 instances of the same program at same time.
Test program opens database with transactions, it does some database reads and writes and quits. This test is run in 10 instances of the same program at the same time. Some instances run and finish well, other instances end up with some of these errors:
unable to allocate memory for the lock table
PANIC: Cannot allocate memory
Error opening environment: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
another with:
db_files/__db.001: No such file or directory
db_files: No such file or directory
Error opening environment: Invalid argument
others with this one:
Log file corrupt at LSN: [1][84474]
fileops: close db_files/log.0000000001
PANIC: Invalid argument
unable to join the environment
db_files: No such file or directory
Error opening environment: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
I don't understand reason of this error, as I thought (and read) that BerkeleyDB should be able to handle multiple instances accessing database and is thread-safe.
I tried to run the test on both NFS and local disk drive with same results.
Is there anyone with ide what could be causing this problem ? My platform is x86_64 GNU/Linux 2.6.18-164.el5

Running Multiple ODI Agents On The Same Server
Is it possible to run multiple ODI Scheduler Agents simultaneously on the same Server?
As we provide Work repository name in ODI params file and if we have different work repository
and we want to run schedular agent on same server how can we point to the other work repository.
Do we need to create another installation of ODI agent files on same server?
Thanks
KashiHey Kashi,
You do not have to instal a separate Agent files again. All you need to do is to make sure that each set of agent has all the required parameter files which inclues, odiparams.bat , agentstart.bat and agentstop.bat(names may not be exactly same). Here is a website that gives you more details regarding creating multiple agents on same server

Installing multiple Oracle intellgent agents on same server
I am going to use Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4) on HP UNIX 11i (11.23). We will setting up development, qa and failover enviornment on the same server. There will be a separate server for production.
Is it possible to install multiple insances of Grid Control including intelligent agent on the same server. We will be using different UNIX logins for different enviornments. We can also use different ports (tcp/ip) if necessary. One of the things that is confusing me - you say you will be installing Oracle 10.2.0.4 ... that describes both the Grid control version and the Database version, so I have absolutely no idea which product you are installing.
If your question is entirely about Grid Control, you might ask in the Grid Control forums. -
We have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro- English,Francais,Deutsch version 10.1.9 in our test environment and tried testing it for converting SAP pages into PDF with a few pilot users. In doing so we faced a challenge, where only one user at a time can use Adobe Acrobat PRO to convert SAP pages in to PDF.As long as the first user who is connected to Adobe Acrobat Pro via SAP isn’t logged off, other users connected to the same server are not being able to get the “Save As” dialog box to save the PDF in their preferred location.
This is a business requirement and we need an urgent solution for the same. Can anyone help us in telling us if this is possible and if yes the how to go about? It's not something we deal with here, the LiveCycle products are a different world. Key points: Adobe LiveCycle is a range of products, some desktop, some server. LiveCycle PDF Generator is the one you should look at, it comes in 3 editions. License terms are by negotiation. Key management is via its Java API.

Multiple users connected to the same server
Hi there,
I was wondering if this scenario would be possible to be implemented on a Snow Leopard Server installed on Mac Mini 2.66:
- one iphone developer that needs to be remotely connected to the server to develop apps
- one project manager that will handle the project files and documentation. He will login to the server and upload/download files
- one app GUI designer that will login from time to time, to make the design in photoshop.
Can these 3 users be logged in the same time on the same server without any lag? Or this version of server will only support one user at a time?
Thank you!Yes, you can do ssh and terminal connections, but I'm guessing that's not what you want here; I'm guessing you're headed over from X Windows or (more likely) Windows Terminal Services.
Google for Aqua Connect and related for the path that you're headed toward.
In general, Apple Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server runs one seat and one keyboard and one display per station, whether it's an Xserve server or a MacBook or whatever. -
Multiple Instances of OIM on same Oracle Application Server
I want to install two instance of OIM on the same machine.
I want to create two oc4j instances on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (Patch 4) and install two separate instances of OIM 9.1 on top of it. Database is on a different machine.
Has somebody done that before?? Is it possible??
Thanks
MSIf you use two different XELLERATE_HOME , and two different ORACLE_HOME for oas it is possible, always you must use different rmi, http, https port for both oas installations.
