Multiple IOS

Hi All;
I have 2801 which I downloaded second IOS image. How can I load the router with second IOS image but keep the old IOS in the flash?
Thanks
Alex

If the flash has enough room for both you can store it on there and config the router using the boot system command.
You could also use the boot system command and have it get the new image from another server like TFTP etc.
Hope this helps

  • Please help - multiple IOS devices, Apple ID's and synching

I have an iPhone and an iPad Mini that belong to me.  Two of my kids have iPod Touch and soon a third will have one.  So there are multiple iOS devices in the family, two of which are used only by me.  Up to this point I've been managing them on one laptop running one iTunes library.  I've made various playlists for the kids music, and I gave them each the specific games they wanted, and I put the games I wanted on my devices....certain games for the iPhone and larger, more involved games for the iPad Mini.  I don't put music on the iPad because I only use music on my iPhone.  So all 4 devices have a different selection of games, apps, and music on them.  I've purchased everything with one apple ID....mine, and set each device up with it. Only I know the password so if one of the kids wants something, they still have to bring their device to me so I can put the password in for that purchase.
What I'd like to do is separate my kids apple ID's from mine.  This way, they can use their apple ID's to sign up for other services, have their own saved game data in the cloud, etc.  I'm running into situations where my son and I play the same game, but we keep overwriting each other's game progress because it's stored to my apple ID.  But I still want to be able to control their purchasing, so I figured I'd have to attach my credit card to their new ID's as well, but just not give them the password, so they still will have to come to me to punch in the password to download something.  But hopefully with this new setup, they'll have their own saved game progress that won't interfere with mine, even if we play some of the same games.
But how will this work if we synch them off my laptop?  I don't want to get into creating separate libraries or anything like that, and I'd still like to be able to download some apps using iTunes and put them on the devices manually if I need to.
What is your recommendation on how to handle this???  How will it work exactly?

You can do anything you want with one iTunes, but:
    Devices names must be different.
Don't sync anything under "Info" tab like Contacts Calendars etc. These info must be synced over iCloud. (Use a different Apple ID for each device)
Use the Same Apple ID for iTunes and App Stores settings in all iOS devices.

  • Multiple iOS devices on same apple id

I have a an iPad and two iPhones on the same apple ID. Unfortunately iMessage and face time show I am taking with myself. Is there a way to separate the communication to sub accounts or by device?  I would like to keep control of the apple ids as a child is involved.
Perhaps there is a recommended way of setting up multiple devices for a family, maybe a KB article?
    Thank you.

  • Screen ipad doesn't respond during video viewing home sharing with multiple iOS devices simultaneously

A have a problem with the videos app and iTunes home sharing on multiple iOS devices.
This is my setup. On my iMac 2006 with Snow Leopard I have:
    - 100+ dvd's ripped in my iTunes movie section
    - 600+ episodes ripped in iTunes TV-section in 35 TV-shows
    - 1 apple tv, 1 iPad 2, 1 iPad mini
On an average evening my family is watching different tv-shows simultaneously on the apple tv, the ipad, an iphone, and an ipad mini.
This is done through home sharing on the one iTunes library.
    All updated apps, software etc..
What happens on the ipads, after viewing for more than 10 minutes, the user interface doesn't show up when tapping the screen. The touchscreen doesn't respond, only the home button works. Clicking the home button closes the app, but the sound of the video keeps on playing. Opening up the videos app again gives a black screen with sound still playing and still no button or UI.
The only workaround which currently works is killing the videos app. Power off the ipad and power on again, reconnect to the shared library, wait until it has found all the content (1+ minutes) and startup the tv show again.
All in all, a nasty way to pause your viewing or switching to another movie of tv episode, or even wanting to finish viewing.
The problem has haunted me for a year now, patiently waiting and hoping software-updates would fix it. They didn't.
A fix would obviously hugely improve my user experience, getting it on par with Apples usual quality of service.
Anyone familiar with this problem? Apple: is it possible to fix it in an update?

Same here for over a year now.
You cant imagine how happy i am that im not the only one with this problem.
many of frinds have the same setup as me (ipad 2, 27"imac, express, apple tv 2)
    No problem
I had the problem on Snow Leopard, lion and now on mountain lion.
I'am also starting to get a new problem - sometimes when waching a movie on iPad or ATV it just quits the movie and you have to start it again
on the iPad most of the time it also shows the wrong cover art. I tried all the hints here, and i works for a day or two then its wrong again
I store my itunes library on an external drive - you ???

  • Managing multiple iOS devices on different Apple accounts from the same iMac

May be a very simple question to answer, but can I manage multiple iOS devices on different Apple accounts from the same iMac?
I ask as whilst I'm totally Mac'd, my partner who has her own Apple account has a Winows laptop and experiences problems updating iOS software on her iPhone 4S and iPad 3 Gen via the laptop. I'm thinking the problems may be overcome if we manage her iOS devices through my iMac.

Thanks dwb .... I thought there'd be a catch .... not to keen on all that media and apps on my iMac!
The specific problem is that whenever she updates to the latsest version of iOS using the latest iTunes for Windows on her PC laptop she seems to lose something in the process. One time she lost all her texts and the other day when updating to 5.1.1 she lost all her reminders. Not the end of the world but frustrating and shouldn't really happen and doesn't happen to me using the iMac and OSX.

  • Multiple ios products with the same name.

    Hello guys,
We have multiple iOS universal products with the same name for different countries. Will it cause any issues when the user installs them in the same device? Using Xcode to push them to my device, i noticed that they are all installed in the same place, i.e only one app is available. So my question is how should we do to use the same name for multiple apps and is it possible?

Go ahead and doubt if it makes you feel superior.

  • Unable to use AirPlay from multiple iOS and MacBook pro

HI, I seem to be having issues using AirPlay From multiple iOS devices.
I have the following devices, iphone 6 plus, iPad air (both Gen 1 and 2) an iPad 2 and a MacBook Pro running Yosemit. I also have 2 Apple TVs (both gen 1 and 2).
Recently I have found that I am unable to use AirPlay on any of the iOS devices to either Apple TVs, the MacBook Pro will Airplay mirror ok, I am however able to use iTunes shairing from a Windows 8PC. I have restarted and also reset both Apple TVs and my router, I have also reset the connection settings on all the iOS devices but still can't resolve the issue.
The Apple TVs have Internet connection so I can't see any issues network connections.
ANyone else got got any Ideas?
    Thanks

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Synchronizing playback to multiple iOS 4.3 devices (a la AirTunes)?

I recently had my Airport Express die on me. What I liked about it was playing the same songs in different rooms of my house and controlling it all with the Remote App from my iPhone.
So I just set up the Home Sharing and AirPlay (4.3.1) only to discover that I can no longer have the same music playing at the same time on several devices like I could with AirTunes (4.2.1).
I don't want to buy more AirPort Expresses simply because I've had two burn out on me and a used iPod Touch isn't much more expensive and uses less energy if just sitting there accepting music streaming. Is there a way (with third party software or native) to get AirTunes-like streaming back on multiple iOS 4.3 devices?
    Thanks

Airfoil may be up to the task.

  • HT1386 Can i sync multipler iOS devices like iPad, iPhones on the same iTunes? Can each iOS device have different contents which are subsets of the iTunes complete library

Can i sync multipler iOS devices like iPad, iPhones on the same iTunes? Can each iOS device have different contents which are subsets of the iTunes complete library

You can share a library with as many devices as you want but they cannot have seperate subsets like you wish. They would all have access to all information in the library. You could "Manually" sync content to each device by doing the following:
On Mac: iTunes > Preferences > Devices Tab > Put a check in the box next to sentence that says "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically > Then click ok.
On Pc: Edit > Preferences > Devices Tab > Put a check in the box next to sentence that says "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically > Then click ok.
To manually sync data from iTunes to devices see article below:
If you do not want all devices to have access to all the media from the main library, you would need to create a library for each device. See the article below for more info:

    Hope this helps.

  • My family has multiple iOS devices, all with 1 Apple ID. With iCloud coming, should I create separate Apple IDs for each member of my family?

    Hello,
Between my family, we have 2 iPhones, multiple computers, iPads, and an Apple TV ALL tied in to the same Apple ID (the one I created when I got my first device). With iCloud coming, I wanted to know if I need to create separate Apple IDs for each family member (for emails, contacts, calendars, etc.). For instance, I would like to share certain contacts and a calendar with only my wife, all media between all family members, and have home sharing so that I can play/stream content on my Apple TV. Will there be a way to have multiple and distinct me.com accounts and yet share the same Apple ID?
Apologies for being verbose — just wanted to give ample info/background.
    Thanks,
    Jay.

I happened to stop at the Apple store yesterday for a separate issue and had a discussion about iCloud. Seems like this is how iCloud works (also, there's another thread on this forum that explains it well).
Each member of the family can have their own iCloud ID, which will be used for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Apps, Bookmarks, Media, Photos, etc. and having this content synced automatically with a Mac (computer). The iCloud IDs work in tandem with the associated Apple ID — so while you cannot have multiple Apple IDs, you can certainly have multiple iCloud IDs tagged with a certain Apple ID.
While all this makes sense from the iOS device standpoint, I'm unclear on how things will sync with a Mac computer, especially if the family uses a single iMac with multiple login IDs for various members. For instance, I currently have an iMac and iTunes content resides in my Public folder, which my wife can still access when she logs in with her login ID. I'm guessing that I'll be able to set up her iCloud ID using her login, set up my iCloud ID using my login, while both our iMac logins will retain the same Apple ID. This would take care of syncing Photos, Contacts, Calendars, etc.
Another (not sure if unique) problem I face is our Address Book — right now, we have one GIANT address book with different groups set up. Certain groups sync to her iPhone, while others to mine. Some contacts are common between both of us. I'm hoping that if she/I updates a common contact, then the change will be reflected in both our groups of contacts. I hope this makes sense — for instance, I update a contact named Joe, and he's on my group of contacts in my iPhone. Hope iCloud updates the master contact card for Joe on the iMac, which would then automatically trigger the update on my wife's group of contacts—that Joe also belongs to— leading to an update on her iOS device as well.
    Apologies for the lengthy response..

  • Export video from multiple iOS devices to a Mac without using iTunes

I am tasked with importing video files from multiple iPads to a single Mac to aggregate for editing.
The file sizes on each device are many gigs large. I don't want to use iMovie on the Mac or iOS.
I don't want to use iTunes (since there are many iPads not owned by me to import video from).
    Suggestions?

iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.

  • Same itunes library, multiple ios devices from different people?

before anything, let me tell u that i followed the advice here...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
and i lost all 3rd party apps and app data on my dad's ipad.
we have two ipads at home. the one belonging to my dad was never synced to an itunes library ever! it was set up as new right from the ipad. now, to install ios 7 on it i followed the instructions above and 'made a new library' in my user accound on the mac. my dad doesn't have any user account on our home mac as he never uses the computer at home.
so then i 'backedup' everything from my dad's ipad to the library and then updated it. upon restoring it brought back everything inside the bundled ios apps but the 3rd party apps and its data was gone!!!
i disticntly remember 'syncing' it before restoring it but itunes 11.1 didn't 'transfer' the purchases on its own. i should had known. now my dad has lost considerible data like saved articles in various news apps, game data, etc...
i dont know what to do. i dont know of this is reversible but if i could atleast know the best way to manage ios devices from multiple users with ONE ITUNES LIBRARY, that would be great!
    Neerav

is this a bug or by design to not transfer purchases during sync?

  • Can you sync multiple IOS devices to one Mac?

Is it possible to sync, say, both an iPod Touch (or iPhone) AND an iPad to the same user account on one Mac? I assume it must be possible, otherwise what would folks with an iPod/iPhone and an iPad do?
What are the caveats, if any?
How about two different IOS devices associated with the same MobileMe user account? Any issues there?

No problem with any of this at all, including mobile me
You can choose different sync options for each device if you wish, and MobileMe can be set up on multiple devices with no problems, they will all keep in sync with each other.

  • Multiple IOS images in flash

I've managed to get my hands on a 7200 series router at the company I work for that isn't currently being used. Just to test a few things out on pretty much. The flash memory on this router has two versions of the IOS loaded and I want to know how to tell the router to boot a specific one. Found something that says they are booted in the order they are listed until one is loaded successfully. The older version is listed before the newer one. How would I change the order they are listed in so it will try to boot the newer image first?

    Jared
The command that you are looking for is the boot system command. The boot system command will specify the particular image to try to boot and over rides the default behavior of booting the first image listed. You can configure multiple boot system commands, so that you can specify which one to try first, which one to try second, and so forth.
The syntax of the command may vary a little depending on where your flash is. On a 7206 router I have this command: boot system disk0:c7200-ik9s0mz.123-8.T4.bin if your image is not on disk0 then you would substitute whatever device was holding the image.

  • Idea to reduce multiple iOS download time

I am among many iUsers who face the same issue of having to download OS updates for multiple devices.  In my case, we have iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iTouch and iPod Nano.  Realizing that each has different firmware thus requiring their own downloads, I'd like to suggest an automated OS download to the PC / iPad / MAC from iTunes.
Details: iTunes has profiles regarding each device.  If iTunes is running on the PC / iPad / MAC, it knows the current OS on each iDevice and can query once per day to see if there is an update available.  iTunes can have a preference to schedule this at PC / iPad / MAC startup, or a certain time per day / night.  If an update is available, the download runs at a lower priority with no user intervention required.  Once the download is available on the PC / iPad / MAC, the next time the device is synched, any purchases on the device will synch first, then the user will be prompted to Update OS now? (Since it takes a while to complete.)
iDevice users may continue to use iTunes as it is done today if they wish.
If the iDevice synch is selected before the daily iTunes OS Update Check, the update process will perform the same as it does today.
The iOS Intelligent Updater process can also have a preferred order for the iOS updates, where the user may decide which devices to check and how often (Daily, Weekly, Each Synch).
For me, I would create the following settings:
    - Daily at 2am Eastern Time
    - iPhone 4, then iPhone 3GS, then iTouch, then iPod Nano
If you like the idea, please reply, and if we get enough replies, maybe Apple will implement this idea.

Apple likely do not read these forums. If you have feedback you can do so via the link

  • Multiple IOS upgrade

    Hello Cisco Gurus,
We are currently buying Cisco equipment in bulk.  It's all used, so the IOS is slightly out of date (12.1 for the routers) and needs to be updated.  I was wondering if there is a way to upgrade multiple routers/switches at the same time.  The only way that I know how to do an upgrade is through the console cable using something like Hyperterminal which only does one at a time and takes about 3 hours each.
Any help offered is much appreciated.
    Gary

You can deploy devices in your network and so use TFTP procedure to upgrade IOS:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1828/prod_release_note09186a00800810f3.html
You can also use the command boot tftp://ip_address/file_image.bin:
    boot
To boot the router manually, use the boot ROM monitor command. The syntax of this command varies according to the platform and ROM monitor version.
    boot
    boot file-url
    boot filename [tftp-ip-address]
    boot flash [flash-fs:][partition-number:][filename]
Cisco 7000 Series, 7200 Series, 7500 Series Routers
    boot flash-fs:[filename]
Cisco 1600 and Cisco 3600 Series Routers
    boot [flash-fs:][partition-number:][filename]
    Syntax Description
    file-url
URL of the image to boot (for example, boot tftp://172.16.15.112/routertest).
    filename
When used in conjunction with the ip-address argument, the filename argument is the name of the system image file to boot from a network server. The filename is case sensitive.
When used in conjunction with the flash keyword, the filename argument is the name of the system image file to boot from Flash memory.
On all platforms except the Cisco 1600 series, Cisco 3600 series, and  Cisco 7000 family routers, the system obtains the image file from  internal Flash memory.
On the Cisco 1600 series, Cisco 3600 series and Cisco 7000 family routers, the flash-fs: argument specifies the Flash memory device from which to obtain the system image. (See the flash-fs: argument later in this table for valid device values.) The filename is case sensitive. Without the filename argument, the first valid file in Flash memory is loaded.
    tftp-ip-address
(optional) IP address of the TFTP server on which the system image  resides. If omitted, this value defaults to the IP broadcast address of  255.255.255.255.
    flash
Boots the router from Flash memory. Note that this keyword is required in some boot images.
    flash-fs:
(Optional) Specifying the Flash file system is optional for all  platforms except the Cisco 7500 series routers. Possible file systems  are:
•flash:—Internal  Flash memory on the Cisco 1600 series routers and Cisco 3600 series  routers. This is the only valid Flash file system for the Cisco 1600  series routers.
•bootflash:—Internal Flash memory on the Cisco 7000 family.
•slot0:—Flash memory card in the first PCMCIA slot on the Cisco 7000 family and Cisco 3600 series routers.
•slot1:—Flash memory card in the second PCMCIA slot on the Cisco 7000 family and Cisco 3600 series routers.
    partition-number:
(Optional) Specifies the partition number of the file system the file  should be loaded from. This argument is not available on all platforms.
In latest releases there is an IOS auto upgrade function but requires 12.4 IOS alredy installed.
