Multiple IP Address Issues

This has been driving me crazy for a while now. Mainly because I solved this once for myself earlier this year! I cannot find the solution again and I need help. Two Snow Leopard clients I have, (10.6.6) are returning three IP addresses in DNS. One for each is their correct static IP, the other two are odd.
For example (not actual IPs):
PowerMac1.domain.com is returning 192.168.1.38 (correct), 192.168.242.1, 192.168.138.1
iMac1.domain.com is returning 192.168.2.13 (correct), 172.168.28.1, 172.168.16.1
This happens with Windows nslookup or Apple's dig, of course.
Like I said, I managed to fix this on another system (running Snow Leopard server) a while back. I believe it was an SMB issue? Don't really remember.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Multiple Email Addresses in Apple Mail...HELP

Ok so I have finally set up apple mail with my gmail account but am having a minor issue...My hotmail email is forwarded to my gmail account, which is what I use in apple mail...So i receive all my mail through IMAP settings..Now, when I'm reading my mail through Apple mail, it tells me what email address it came from..My question is, when replying, i am able to pick my hotmail address in the "from" field from the drop down menu, but there is another box to the right of it with the "outgoing server" information...So when they receive my reply message it reads, From: Me ([email protected]) on behalf of ME ([email protected]) Is there a way to change this so it just shows the msn address and leaves out the gmail??

I understand that you have multiple From: addresses set up, all your email goes to your gmail account, and then to your Mac. When you reply to hotmail-received messages, you select (or rather it, Mail, selects-- I think that is the behavior I see) you hotmail address for the sender address, and when it goes through the gmail smtp server, it adds a comment indicating this to the header.
Even though some other email gateways might not do this, the information us almost always stored somewhere in the Received: headers? Gmail just calls it out.
There is no way around this except to add your hotmail account as another mail account and send hotmail via the hotmail smtp server... or find another smtp server that doesn't do this. (But, again, the information will usually be in the header fields.)

This sounds like the age old problem with keychain & Safari. I don't know of a way to solve it without using something like 1Password.
The iOS app has it's own built in browser, so it has more control over what gets autofilled. Safari on OS X has an 1Password extension that handles account selection & autofill etc.
Keychain is great in principle, but it quickly falls down when you need tight integration with many ID's & different use cases (work, home etc).
I'd suggest you submit feedback to Apple about your thoughts. I did so years ago about this issue & this is how far we have come (back to the point where me.com synced passwords) :^)

Other tools like lastpass or keypassx may also help if you want to truly segregate password storage, but that doesn't fix autofill, the way around that issue is to dedicate one browser for work.

you are correct, the only way to be able to send to multiple addresses for the same person in a group is to create one card per email address, with a code for the name as in john doe1, john doe2, or play with prefix, suffix or middle name fields to differentiate each card. to date there is no other way around this issue.

Do I need Open Directory for multiple email addresses for Calendar users?

Hey all,
I have a single mac mini which I use simply as a calendar server for +/- 20 users. One day I might use Profile Manager to manage their iOS devices too. On the initial installation, we enabled Open Directory, although I'm not sure that it's required, and we have no plans re using it to manage network logins etc aside from existing calendaring.
I'm working through a migration from a Lion Server.app install to Mavericks, and due to some data corruption issues, we'll probably just rebuild the server and reimport the users calendars.
On my existing Lion Server installation, I can still use workgroup manager to assign multiple email addresses to calendar users, so that when a user invites another user to a calendar event using any of their email addresses (we have several variations), the invitation still gets pushed to the correct calendar user.
On Mavericks, without installing Open Directory, it seems I can't do this (I've downloaded Workgroup Manager for Mavericks, but it obviously can't connect to a local open directory). If Open Directory is optional, I'd rather not install it, to avoid overhead and complexity, but I still need a way to manage these multiple email addresses (aliases doesn't cut it).
Any ideas / suggestions?

For Calendar server to send actual email invitations to an attendee, two things must happen:
First, you need to configure Server.app > Calendar > Enable invitations by email. Enabling that will bring up a wizard dialog that will step you through the IMAP and SMTP account settings. The default values in that wizard will tell Calendar server to use the local Mail server (which you then would have to configure to use the appropriate SMTP relay, etc.). Or you can change the wizard settings to refer to an external IMAP and SMTP server. It is wise to use a dedicated IMAP account for Calendar server's use -- don't go using someone's personal IMAP account because there might be some "undesirable interactions", let's say. If you need help configuring this for, say, a Gmail account, I can help with that.
Second, the email address for the attendee must *not* be known to Calendar server, i.e. it should *not* be in the Directory. As you probably found out, if Calendar server sees that the attendee has an email address that is in the Directory, the attendee is considered to be "local" and the invitation will be delivered directly to the attendee's calendar client. If you simply leave those other email variations out of the Directory, Calendar server will consider that attendee "remote" and will send an actual email with a special attachment that calendar clients can understand.

Multiple email addresses in Yosemite problem

has anyone else experienced this :
I have a list of workshop attendees who have supplied me with their email addresses. About 60 ppl in all.
I am trying to send an email to thank the attendees via OS X Yosemite Mail Application. I insert all the email addresses in the BCC field. However, when I try to edit the address field in the BCC field (removing invalid email addresses) the email freezes. and I have to force close the mail app, and start again.
If someone could try it out and let me know if they too experience this issue.

Oracle support comma to specify multiple email address.
I have tested the same in R11i instance and specified multiple email address with comma as separator.

E4200 v2 - Uses multiple MAC addresses for the same device

This unit seems pretty good at first but on looking at the Web interface I noticed that it was using multiple mac addresses for the same device and showing devices on the lan on the Wireless side and other odd things.
After a week of running it the home server network started to get erratic, it would seem to all point to dns and dhcp issues in the router.
Seems the V1 had the same issues that they did not fix on this.
The Cisco connect software shows 5 devices the Web based utility shows 3??.
Its pretty bad that they charge nearly $200 and cannot be bothered to finish the unit or address the issues that were in V1.

I am afraid I didn't get the clear picture of the issue mentioned in the post. Could you please elaborate a little bit? If you connect a device/computer wired and then later you connect it wirelessly. It is obvious that you would get to see two different MAC addresses for the same device, one for the LAN adaptor and other one for WLAN adaptor. If that is what you are referring to?
Secondly, may I know, what issues did you face with DNS and DHCP in the router? Is it not able to resolve the DNS or something else or DHCP is not sending IP address to the clients?

Multiple ethernet addresses vs. IP addresses

Hi,
Using Workgroup Manager on SLS 10.6.4, I have successfully mapped hosts and their MAC addresses to fixed IP addresses within our LAN. All is well, until someone works on the back of one of the Mac Pros and ends up plugging the ethernet cable into jack #2 instead of #1. Now the MAC address is unintentionally different.
I suppose I could make a secondary set of hostnames for ethernet2, but that seems ugly and if you're depending on host foobar being available for a particular printer, but it's now foobar2, that seems unpredictable.
How do you deal with this? I assume this is in the same realm as having a laptop that connects via wireless one day but via an ethernet cable the next day? It's the same host, just not the same MAC address. Does WGM have a way to deal with multiple ethernet addresses?

ahh, i see.
you're running up against a few limitations here.
bootpd uses MACs to define static mappings.
OD uses MACs to identify nodes/clients.
your client machines have multiple MACs and may present one or the other on the network, depending on whether someone plugs in the wrong port.
here are some options/workarounds off the top of my head:
1. disable the second interface. if you need it for some reason, you'll have to deal with this situation another way.
2. bond the two interfaces. the downside is that you'll need to have both plugged in for optimal results, but you'll have one MAC, i believe.
3. use another dhcp server configured to deny all dhcp requests except those from your approved MACs (en1, let's say).
4. use local MCX and not deal with changing MACs at all. this is a little more difficult to manage, however.
5. manage prefs in some other way, like with puppet or casper, that don't strictly depend on MACs.
i'm sure there are other ways to deal with this situation, but if you're managing these systems, i'd probably just disable the second interfaces. people will learn quickly when they can't access the network. determine if this is more of a technological or a policy/personnel management issue.

Adding Multiple Email Addresses in one field

Dear Staff,
My staff submit progress reports that include two separate fields:
Their own email address is requested so the staff member could receive a receipt of their progress report
The email address of the recepient of the progress report requested, as well. We would like to include multiple email address in that field because often, multiple individuals need to receive the progress report.
Is there a work-around to including multiple email addresses or is this something you must accomplish on the development side?

How to configure multiple IP addresses on one NIC?

Hi,
I just installed a OVM Server in version 3.2.1 and the according VMManager. Now i wanted to try to configure the Server/Server Pool. Now i come across a problem, which was already a big problem in OVM 2 while configuring the Networks.
All our OVM Servers have three NICs in them. One is for VMs and Management, the others are for connection to our SAN (Dell PowerVault MD 3220i). My problem is, that due to the network setup, the two NICs for storage need two IP addresses in two different networks each. This shouldn't be a problem, because usually in linux all you have to do is configure something like eth1:1. I remember having huge trouble configuring it in our OVM 2 cluster up to the point where I had to write a shell script to configure the second IP.
Anyways, I have configured two of the storage networks on eth1 and eth2 of the VM Server. Now i cannot configure any more IP addresses, because eth1 and eth2 are not available anymore for configuration in a third network. I really hoped that it would be possible in OVM 3 to configure multiple IP addresses. And probably it is only my lack of knowledge of how to configure it.
So any advice is well appreciated.

You should be able to do this by using "VLAN Groups".

Check out the VLAN groups section. You must great the VLAN groups before you can assign them to interfaces.

Is it possible to send invoice(copies) to multiple email address? how?
Understand that we can maintain multiple email add for a customer. Example if 5 email add has been maintained for customer A, let say if I need to email 1 original invoice to email add 1 and email the other 2 copies invoice to email add 2 & 3 , how do I select the email add 1, 2 & 3 from the customer under the OUTPUT of change invoice (VF02) when we only input the customer code under Partner?

Sorry, but Address Book does not allow you to select more than one email address to send to in a group. There's really no reason why people need multiple copies of a message, anyway; they have the option of forwarding email to another email address of theirs.
