Multiple iPads & One Account

I work at a school that is considering using iPads next year. If I have 40 of them, can I sync them all to the same iTunes account? I really don't want to track separate accounts for each.
This isn't intended to get around paying for apps, they cost what they cost. From an administration standpoint I want one account to update them all if it's possible.
Thanks,
Jeff

I found these two paragraphs in the link you provided which answered my question for the most part. I just need to read a bit more about "Program Facilitators".
"I’m at a K–12 institution, and we use carts to synchronize content from a single iTunes library to multiple devices used by students in the classroom. Can I use this method to distribute purchased apps to my students’ devices?
Yes, if your Program Facilitator agrees to terms and conditions when he or she signs up for the ASVPP. Apple agrees to permit you to use a single code to sync an app to multiple devices, up to the number of codes you have purchased (instead of having to redeem a separate code for each license), provided that you agree to the terms. You should verify the number of apps that the Program Facilitator purchased, and tell the Program Facilitator how many devices were synced with the app.
Can you give me an example of using a single code to sync an app to multiple devices?
For example, using this optional means of distribution, an institution with 100 devices could purchase 100 copies of an app and receive 100 app-specific codes and URLs. The institution could then distribute a smaller number of codes (for example, one code to each of five classrooms). These codes would be redeemed through the iTunes library of the computer used to synchronize the students’ devices. If each of the five classes has 20 devices, then, after syncing, 100 devices would each have the app even though only five of the app-specific codes are used. The remaining 95 codes may not be used but should be retained for accounting and audit purposes."

  • How to handle iTunes Match with multiple libraries (one account, 5 family members)?

How would this work, in the situation below ...
Everyone has their own iCloud account (for their own syncing purposes).
But we (family) ALL share the same iTunes account (for purchasing).
How will this work, since we all have our own iTunes libraries?

One person sets up Match on their computer using the iTunes account.  Uploads everything to match.
I would recommend waiting until that person is done, and do computers one at a time.  No particular reason, just seems sensible.
Next person sets up match using same iTunes account details.  Uploads their stuff.  They will then see everything the previous user put into the system, unless you select "Hide music not on this computer" in the view menu.  Previous user will now see their stuff too.
    Rinse and repeat.
This is how it worked with my multiple machines anyway...  As long as every computer uses the same iTunes account for the store, you all get access to the same Match account.

  • FaceTime issues with multiple devices & one account

I have an iPhone 5s, an iPad Mini and 2 iPod Touch devices, all on the same account and Apple ID. Is there any way to iMessage or FaceTime from one device to ONE other device(not all of them)? Thanks!

You can create another Appleid and use it only for FaceTime and/or messages on 1ipad.
In this manner you can maintain a parent account for all and have child accounts for messaging only.
You would simply log out of messages and log in with new id

  • Two ipads- one account or two?

We have an iPad2, and I just got an ipad3 for me. Should we have separate accounts? I don't want his apps on mine, and he doesnt mine on his.  Will one of us lose all the apps we paid for if we separate the accounts?

You will not lose the apps on the iPad that the apps were downloaded onto - in other words - whoever's Apple ID was used to purchase those apps will always be able to download those apps again for free.
If you set up a separate account for the other iPad - you will have to buy those apps again.
Like Ford Yuki - I have several iDevices - five actually - all using the same Apple ID and iTunes library - you don't even need separate libraries at all - and all 5 iDevices have their own unique content on them - and yet we can share the same apps on all 5 since we are using just one Apple ID.

  • Multiple iPads one macbook pro

    Hi,
I just purchased an iPad 2 as a gift for a family member at home. I have an iPad 1 synched to a macBook pro. I am setting up the new iPad but it is asking me if I want to:
SET UP AS A NEW IPAD or
    RESTORE FROM BACKUP XXXX
We only have one apple ID but I do not want to have an exact copy of the iPad 1 on the iPad 2.
What is the best option to have both on the same account and am I able to use the same apple ID but have completely different apps and documents on each iPad?
    Thanks.

    Super.
Thanks Penguin. Rysz, I read the thread you linked to and still had the questions regarding apps and documents.
I'll set it up using a copy of my previous iPad and delete what I don't need.
One more thing, is there a means of renaming iPads? For example, my kid's iPad would be great if I could put a personalized name on it.
    Cheers again.

  • Multiple iPods, multiple computers, one account???

I have four computers and will soon have four iPods (one model #M946OLL, three new Nanos) My main computer has iTunes loaded with all our downloaded and purchased music. Please advise as to how I set up the three new Nanos, each with their own computer, but sharing all the music. Note, all music will be purchased with the same account. Thank you!

    Start with these links:

Then post back with your desired 'end-state' vision of how all four PCs will work with all four iPods. It may or may not be possible (or even easy, if possible).

  • Adobe Digital Publishing Suite Professional Edition -- Multiple Magazines One Account

Is it possible to create multiple magazine apps under one professional account? (Each of these apps would be multi-issue)

    yes.
I would set up your master account as [email protected] ([email protected]) and for each app create an accounts called [email protected] (for example [email protected] and [email protected]).

  • Multiple devices, one account

Is it legal to purchase an app and put it on more than one device with the same account? If so, is there a way to transfer an app from an iphone to an ipod touch when there is no wifi to connect the ipod touch to the internet/app store?
    Thanks!

I understand about syncing - that is not my question. I am asking if there is any OTHER way to transfer apps if you are in a situation where you do not have access to itunes or wifi (to re-download from the app store). There are apps to transfer pictures (i.e. Bump), so I was wondering if there is a way to transfer apps.

  • Multiple ipads, one pc

Is it possible to sync two different ipads to the same pc with unique synching options for each..? i.e. Certain apps on one, not on the other?

Yes. Just assign different names to each iPad and iTunes will let you configure each differently when it is connected.

  • Multiple Ipods - One Account?

I purchased Ipods for a friend as well as my kids and they all want a copy of my complete library of songs. Is this possible?

It's possible but not entirely legal (apart from sharing with your family). You cannot give copies of the songs to a friend, that's illegal file sharing. There are several different ways to use multiple iPods with one computer, have a look at this help page for suggestions: How to use multiple iPods with one computer

  • Two IPads one Account Problem with some apps

I have my Ipad2 and Ipad mini.  For some reason when I try to download my upgrades from the apps Wow and Master FX, to my new Ipad Mini, I am asked to repurchase.  I wrote to the Developer who said to uninstall and reinstall but no luck.  I have been able to get upgrades purchased from other apps but not these.  Any suggestions?

Did the first app download use the same Apple ID as what you are trying to use for the second app download?

  • Have two ipads one account, to facetime with wifes ipad i need to make a differant id the way i understand it,my ipad has a space for another contact but on hers it only has sign in and pass. do i cancel my id on hers and enter her own email

    on her ipad there is only my id and a space for password, do I cancel my id and put in her email , then and her email to my ipad where it says another contact, confused;

Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID under which they were purchased. If your friend wants to be able to manage apps on their device using their own Apple ID, they will need to delete all the apps purchased using your Apple ID and buy their own.
Hopefully, you just updated your own Apple ID with the new email and didn't make the mistake of creating a new Apple ID. If you created a new ID, stop using it now, don't buy anything using it and go back and update the ID under which you purchased your apps.

  • HT1495 Using multiple iPads on one computer and account

How to set up multiple iPads one one computer and one account?

Not a problem since each device is distinguished by a unique name and has its own sync settings for apps, music, photos, etc.
