Multiple iPod's/Multiple Apple ID's

I have multiple iPod touch.  I have given one to my 10 year old son.  Is it possible to have multiple accounts to manage for my 10 year old.  Can i create his Apple ID within my own to monitor?

You do not need unique Apple ID's for FT. First setup FT on each device with the same Apple ID.  Then add another calling email address to each iPod  Then delete the Apple ID calling addresses from the iPods.  Each iPod must an unique email calling address. To call the iPhone, the phone's dialing number is used.
I have FT on my Mac and my iPod but onle one Apple ID.

  • One Computer - Two iPod Touches - Multiple Apple ID's possible?

Can you have multiple Apple ID's on one computer with one iTunes account so that more than one iPod Touch can activate Face Talk and email?

Each iPod needs a unique email address to used for calling the iPod via FaceTime. It does not have to be an Apple ID email address. I originally set up my iPod to use my Apple ID email address and a different GMail address. I set up my Mac to use FaceTime with the same GMail address. I could call my computer from the from my iPod but not the other way around. I deleted the GMail address from FaceTime on my iPod and am now able to call from either.

  • HT1911 Multiple Apple ID's with my one iPod

I accidentally have multiple apple ID's with my one iPod. Everytime i updated my email account, it created is an entirely new ID. Now, I want to transfer music between computers and songs purchased under old ID's can't be transferred because I don't recall old passwords. When I try the password reset process, it asks for my birthdate. I answer that correctly but it says that my answer is incorrect. now what?!?!?!?! HELP please!!!

You must use the same Apple ID on all devices for all of the downloads and content to sync across all devices. If you each have your own Apple ID - you cannot automatically download content from your phone to his or the other way around. If you share the same ID - you can.

  • My daughter just got her ipod and she begam multiple apple id's. she entered her itunes card code into one of these and we dont know which one

my daughter received an ipod and  an itunes card for christmas and began multiple apple id's with a few different email addresses. she entered the itunes card code into one of these. i have all the card info and receipt. is there anyway she can still use this card?

As long as you are signed into the account which she registered the card with, you will be able to use it. I'm guessing you just don't know which account that is. Logging into all of them would be the only way to find that out. Hope that helps :)

  • Multiple Apple Remotes no longer work with Apple TV!

I've been using Apple TVs since the minute Steve Jobs introduced them in 2007. I bought the 2nd and 3rd Generation Apple TVs the minute each of them were introduced. I've been watching every Apple Keynote Address since they were available online or on CDs from the early 1990s, on my HDTV via my latest Apple TV when that was possible. I watch far more TV through my Apple TV than via my Cable Box, much of it music and music videos from iTunes on my 2006 Mac Pro! But as of YESTERDAY I am seriously thinking of getting another, ANY OTHER manufacturer's similar internet streaming box!!!
WHY??? Because YESTERDAY, for no apparent reason except some programmer's or software engineer's stupidity, my Apple TV stopped working with all but ONE of my Apple REMOTES!!!
Why is that stupid? Because, in my household there are three people who use Apple TV all day, and each of them have an aluminum Apple Remote which they all use to control what the Apple TV is streaming. We have two other Apple Remotes lying around in case one of us misplaces his or her Apple Remote, which happens occasionally. ALL FIVE of the Apple Remotes, just like the beige plastic Apple Remotes that they replaced, always worked with all three of my Apple TVs! Then yesterday, suddenly, only the LAST Apple Remote that was paired with this 3rd Generation Apple TV is able to control it.
I've spent HOURS trying to fix this. This wasn't caused by an Automatic Update to the Apple TV's iOS; there has been no update in recent days. I've got Automatic Update turned on, just as I, a good Apple citizen, have my Apple TV set up to automatically send back Usage Data to Apple. I've rebooted my Apple TV. I've put brand new 2032 button batteries into my Apple Remotes. I pulled the power cord out of my Apple TV for 15 seconds and again for five minutes and then restarted it. As per instructions, I have Unpaired and re-Paired each and all of my 5 Apple Remotes. All to no avail. Only the last Apple Remote that was paired with the Apple TV works! Horrible. And STUPID, if it was a deliberate programming decision and it was introduced in a minor automatic update.
Worse, I've been using the Remote app on my 5th Generation iPod touch to replace ONE of the unusable Apple Remotes, and as of a couple of minutes ago even THAT stopped working with my Apple TV! Well, I was able to fix that fairly easily by pairing the iPod touch Remote app with my Mac Pro and then pairing it again with my Apple TV. But I don't think that solution would be so easy for many non-technologically-inclined users. I also don't think that a $200 or $300 iPod touch is a very acceptable replacement for a $20 Apple Remote, especially since everyone buys iPod touches for totally different uses (I use mine primarily for taking notes using voice-activated audio or video -- it is by far the best device for that purpose out there -- police departments should take note).
I'm hoping that this multiple Apple Remote problem somehow resolves itself, unless it is a hardware problem with my Apple TV. If so, I can hold out until Apple's media event next week, which I HOPE will premiere a new 4th Generation Apple TV, hopefully which will once again allow my five Apple Remotes to all control my Apple TV interdependently, without having to Unpair and Pair each one each time you wanted to use it, requiring you to quit whichever Apple TV app you were using each time, or alternatively to use Sneaker-Net to deliver the one working Apple Remote to each person who wants to use it, which can be difficult since at least one of the users is very ill! (Whew! A long sentence. But I hope you get the point.)
Two days ago, I could never have imagined myself getting a Roku or an Amazon, Sony, Microsoft or some other streaming device. It just proves how fast a stupid little decision (if it was deliberate) can turn EVERYTHING around!

People have a misconception with remote pairing (as does the description on this page -> Pairing your Apple Remote with your computer - Apple Support).
    The 1st paragraph is incorrect.
    The 2nd paragraph is correct.
"If you have several Mac computers or an Apple TV that use the Apple remote, or other devices with integrated infrared ("IR") receivers in one room, you can "pair" your Apple Remote with a specific Apple device so it doesn't interfere with other Apple devices or IR devices nearby.
Pairing allows you to set the receiving Apple device so that only it can be controlled by one remote. Learn how to pair your Apple Remote"
Pairing sets the device to read only a specific remote.
It does not set a specific remote to work only with a specific device. ie. if you point th remote at another Apple device (that is not paired) it will control it.

  • Can you access/use multiple apple ID's on one device?

    Hello,
In our family we have been registering everything (ipods, iphones and computers) all under one apple id. We have made purchases with the family apple id which we have been accessing on multiple devices. With everyones different needs I am wondering about setting up new apple id's for different family members. Can I use multiple apple id's on devices like my iPhone and still access apps/books/music purchased on the family apple id's and if so how do I do this.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Why do you have 3 Apple IDs?
Apple IDs cannot be merged and items bought with one Apple ID cannot be transfered to another. A computer can only be associated with one Apple ID every 90 days for automatic downloads, re-downloading of past purchases or iTunes Match. There is no getting around this restriction.
One computer can be autorized to play content purchased with multiple Apple IDs, though.
My suggestion is to pick on Apple ID and stick with it for the future. Once you have decided, log into one of the other Apple IDs and download every avialble item you bought with that ID to your computer. Wait 90 days. Log into the other ID and do the same thing. Wait 90 days. Finally log into the "main" Apple ID and stay logged in. Keep current backups of all your purchased items on a local, external HDD.

  • One PC, Multiple Apple ID's, how to integrate?

Im not sure if this problem of mine is as a result of the latest iTunes update, but suddenly Im getting told that I can't download my purchases as for some reason my son's apple id is now the only one that can be associated with the pc (for 90 days..).
    We have:
    3 Apple id's
    -Main/parent id
    -Child 1 id
    -Child 2 id.
The kids are each responsible for their own purchases.
Up until my last attempt to download my purchases I haven't noticed any problems sharing purchases on the single computer.
Today, I was warned that to download I would need to change authorisations or somesuch, which couldn't be changed again for 90 days.
Either I haven't noticed this restriction before, or the updated iTunes is imposing restrictions.
We all have our own playlists, and when syncing our devices (iphones/ipods) we simply choose our own playlist, but the playlists are made up from everyone's music, no restrictions.
Why is it now that I am finding restrictions on downloading music? How can I get around this in future?

    Thanks Limnos.
    Crisis averted.
Im not sure how/why I encountered the problem yesterday, but today I selected the 'transfer purchases from xxx' in the File menu, and it transferred my purchases to my music library without a problem.
I am signed in to itunes at the moment, but I haven't re-associated the computer with any particular ID (was previously mine, but showing its associated with my sons since last year, but I've not even noticed until yesterday).
For future questions on multiple ID's on a single computer, we run ours with multiple Apple IDs, all our contacts are shared (which I've discovered is useful when I get a message "Im at so and sos" and I look and 'so and so' is in  my contacts without me even knowing) on our Apple devices, and a purchase is downloaded from a device on first syncing.
We keep a playlist per child in itunes, which we can update anytime and select to sync. Any playlist they create is downloaded into itunes and saved, and kept by default on their device anyway.
Aside from the 'check for available downloads' yesterday I don't seem to have a problem. BUT I can't just borrow someone's ID and log in then download all their purchases. I have to plug in my device, then download purchases, and then I can manouevre them as i wish between playlists.
I hope this helps someone else, but feel free to answer my 'check for available downloads' doesn't work!

  • HT204053 using multiple apple ID's

Should a family with multiple apple devices all use the same apple id in order to put music downloads and AP's all all devices?  We currently have 3 iphones, 1 ipad and 2 ipods!  we manage this with playlists but what about AP's?  We manage the music with individual playlists, but every time I open itunes, all of my daughters ap's begin downloading.
wodnering if there is a better way....I don't know alot about managing all the devices and using icloud.

If you don't want to pay multiple times for each item you purchase, for each device, then define the Apple ID in settings>iTunes Store...  the same for each device.
However, when you sync each device to itunes, you can control which apps are to be synced to the device, same for music.  Just look at each tab in itunes (for any given device) to set the items you want.

  • HT5625 Can you deactive multiple Apple ID's?

Over the years I have set up multiple Apple ID's for my one apple device. Unfortuntley I used email addresses for the companies I was working for at the time. I know that I need to authorize those multiple ID's in order to transfer my music to the computer I am using, I get all the way to the point of reseting the password for each ID. But the problem is they need to be authenticated thru email, well I cant get to those emails anymore. Long story short, would it be easier just to deactive these accounts and restore my ipod back to factory and start over with my music.

Wouldn't you only need to create a new apple ID and put that on your phone instead of your old apple ID that is merged?

  • Can I have multiple apple ID's?

I have 4 devices on the same Apple ID.  I would like to seperate them and create a new Apple ID for 2 of them.  The 2 I want to seperate are my kids and I no longer want to get their silly apps and music.  2 are iPods and 2 are iPhones.  Can I do that without causing other problems?  Can I use the same computer and just log in for either or?  Will they lose everything they have so far?  Help!

It is possible to create as many Apple ID's as one desires.
Keep in mind that content acquired with an Apple ID is permanently tied to that Apple ID.
Content from multiple Apple ID's can exist on a single iDevices.  This article provides helpful information for using multiple Apple IDs on the same device: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895

  • Using Multiple Apple TVs to stream iTunes Music

    Hey there All,
I'm considering using multiple(at least 2) Apple TVs to stream iTunes content around my home. The layout is ranch style and I'd like to put 1 in my Media room where I have my main HT set-up and another in the dining area. Will I be able to have these act like Airport Express units and have same music playing on both, if both are on? I'm considering this as I often entertain and am looking for an inexpensive solution to a Crestron or Sonos system and I'd also like to be able to move 1 Apple TV unit to a different location like the Deck in the Summer & just connect my old boombox with RCA inputs.
TIA for any assistance or suggestions.

    Hey there BCFind,
Thanks for your response and good wishes. I've tried a couple of AE stations with limited success(dropping connection--still have them, any thoughts there? I'd appreciate them) and I would like to have the video option, have over 100 DVD rips stored on my iMac CD's external drive that play through iTunes(converted to H.264), a Netflix sub and we love the Jazz stations on iTunes radio. I use my 1st gen iPod Touch and Apple's Remote app with my iMac for music in my bedroom/office but, we'd like to occasionally also eat & watch a movie together as well have the music, get a 2 for 1-- music for entertaining and movies for the family. So, the original question... you're saying 2 ATVs will play the same music if both are on, in the same way that the Airport Express does?
Your set-up seems sweet. Thanks again.

  • Can I add multiple Apple ID to my account for face time

I'm trying to set up iPod touches that my 2 daughters received as Christmas presents. I would like to add multiple Apple ID to my apple account so they can use the face time features. How do I do this?

They just need different email addresses. See:
MacMost Now 653: Setting Up Multiple iOS Devices For Messages and FaceTime
    If you want:
Create a NEW account/ID for them using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results  being 13 year old or older
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on theniPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

  • How can i identify multiple apple devices under a same appleID for Facetime usage ?

    hi
i have an apple ID and multiple apple devices
i want to be able to use facetime to communicate between my various devices
so, how can i identify my ipad from my ipod from my mac, so that i can do facetime between the three, using the same appleID ?
    thanks

I found this discussion because I need to create dozens of Apple IDs for the faculty and staff of the school for which I'm the IT Director.
    This is weak.
Apple, PLEASE upgrade the Apple ID system so it represents the current needs and paradigm.
What am I thinking, Apple (like Google) don't follow user discussion forums, except by accident when an employee sees something and is motivated enough to carry the water for users in need.

  • How do I use the time capsule to share itunes music between multiple apple devices? Also, is it possible to control the music on one device using another, and how do you set this up?

How do I use the time capsule to share itunes music between multiple apple devices? Also, is it possible to control the music on one device using another, and how do you set this up?

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups
