Multiple IPOD touches

My kids got IPod touches for xmas.  I gave them my apple ID and now I realize they need to have their own ID.  How do I go about getting each a apple ID on their IPODS and not erasing my apple ID?
Help please

I would consider yourself lucky and go with it. Or if you feel its wrong, report it. As for installing on multiple iPods, iTunes is programmed to believe that there is one iPod per account. When you plug a second one in, it justifies it as that same iPod since it makes the same purchases on the same account. When you try to upgrade, it most likely identifies that there was a problem with the original and lets you do it again, believing it to be the same iPod. Nice loophole. And as for apps, once you download it, just use a usb drive to transfer apps from one Profile on the computer to another, and if you need to, use the account info to verify.

  • Multiple iPod Touchs with Facetime linked to a single Apple ID

I have Multiple iPod Touchs (7 to be exact) with Facetime linked to a single Apple ID using different email addresses but all connected to the same WiFi network. Problem is that when I try to call one from another, multiples ring. I can call my iPhone4 with no problems even when the iPhone4 is on the same WiFi (iPhone4 is also linked to the same Apple ID). From what I have read, this should work and, in fact, it does.... sorta. Does anyone know how to get the calls to be answered by only the iTouch that is associated with that email that I am calling?
    Thanks in advance....

    Hey EZ Jim,
Thank you so much for your responce.
    You're welcome.
But, actually, that is exactly what I did. For example, I assiged the email address itouchone ... to the first one and itouchtwo ... the second and so on for all seven. Still, they are answering each others calls (usually multiples). For instance, I call itouchone... and itouchone, itouchthree, itouchfour, and itouchseven answer.
    (1) If some or all of the seven emails you used are Dot Mac or Mobile Me email addresses, they may be aliases that will not work.
Info about dot Mac or Mobile me addresses:

    (2) If the seven emails you used are literally those you posted, perhaps creating more and using each as a separate iD rather than merely caller iDs associated with only one iD could get FaceTime working.
I would start with only two iPods. Once you can make two work, you can replicate the solution five more times.
    (3) Did you consider all relevant info in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319
I am totally confused. Could it be that facetime is sending out both the primary ID and the associated id? Help!!!
    Thanks again,

  • Why does my Windows Vista computer say the wrong iPod Touch name? I have multiple iPod Touches and after updating one of them, Windows Explorer says they are all the same name now.

Sorry for the exceedingly long title...
I have multiple iPod touches, and I just updated one of them to the newest iOS (5.0.1). Now whenever I plug in any of the others, the name of the one I updated appears in Windows explorer. How can I make Windows able to determine which iPod is which again?
    64 bit vista home premium.

iPod Classic are high drain USB devices, I hope you are not trying to connnect them simultaneously to iTunes, which will definitely hang your USB Host controller, thereby freeze iTunes.
But here is an Apple Support Article on using multiple iPods for iTunes.

  • Wifi for multiple ipod touches

Trying to get multiple ipod touch units online with a single Apple router. I can get 5 connections and then the 6th+ won't allow a connection. Tried different routers that will run 20+ computers wirelessly but still stuck on only 5 ipod touches allowed at a time. Help!

You need to make sure the DHCP range is wide enough for all the devices you are running. I can think of nothing that would prevent you from running as many as you want at one time. Go to an Apple store - they probably have 50+ iPhones and touches on line at any given moment.
Anyway, more information about your network setup would be helpful. You didn't really post enough information to come up with any kind of meaningful help.

  • Using multiple iPod Touch units with a single instance of iTunes.

My wife and I both have the iPod Touch. She syncs hers on her computer, I sync mine on my computer... If I want to transfer an .mp3 or .mp4 video from my device to hers what's the best way to do that?
I tried to plug hers into my computer and iTunes opened but iTunes will not let me drag and drop music or videos (not even .mp3s) into her iPod Touch and she can not transfer anything into mine.
What is the work around to this? Why is this so?

*Apple doesn't allow you to sync multiple iPods*
    Sure they do.
Plug it in and it will sync. Plug in another and it will sync.
iTunes does not sync from the iPod to the computer (except for iTunes purchases).
If I want to transfer an .mp3 or .mp4 video from my device to hers what's the best way to do that?
You can't go iPod to iPod.
Copy the music from her computer to your computer.
Or set your iPod to Manually manage music, plug into her computer and drag the music to your iPod.
I am unable to manage the other iPod.
You don't need to do it on both and you cannot go iPod to computer.
You can if you copy the files into the iPod in the Finder, then plug into the other computer and drag from the iPod in th eFInder to the desktop, then add to iTunes.

  • Multiple iPod Touch issues

I received my iPod Touch last Thursday and then spent most of Friday just trying to get the blasted thing to accept my wireless password. Note: I have multiple wireless devices, (one router) all of which use the same password with no problems. Finally, it accepted the password, allowed me to set up my ID and account, only to almost immedialy lose the wireless connection. Over the weekend, the iPod couldn't even find the wireless network. Finally, this morning I lugged myself to the Apple store (40 minute drive), waited for 45 minutes and finally got someone who knew what he was doing. Surprise - the iPod couldn't find the store's wireless network! After messing around a bit the "genius" (not a slam, this is what they call the techs) accepted that the problem was with in the iPod, not the user. He then replaced the iPod. Flash forward a few hours: I'm at a Panara Bread and decide to see if the iPod will work - nope, nada, nothing. It could not find the network! Came home and tried again - nope, nada, nothing! I keep getting the same error message: cannot connect/wrong password. I use the same password for multiple devices, none of which have this problem. My wireless router (Linksys) has only this one password programmed. My laptop (Windows), printer, phone all recognize and accept this password. The iPod will not. What do I do? I'm getting ready to scream because this is taking way, way, way too much time. I've never had this much trouble with a device before and really have no clue as to how to resolve this issue once and for all. Any help, any one can offer will be extremely appreciated. Thank-you.

I am so incredibly disappointed in Apple!! I have owned my Touch for less than a week and have already been given two replacement units - neither of which have worked. I have visited three Apple stores, worked with 4 different techs and had two long telephone contacts with tech support. Yet, I still am unable to get a Touch that actually works!
I did manage to get the third iPod to recognize the network, but the way I did it makes no sense to me - perhaps it will to someone with more knowledge. This is what I did after the store appointments and after the long phone tech support incident: Using the USB cord, I connected the iPod to my PC, accessed the Apple site, registered with my user name/password, went to the i-Tunes store, attempted to set up an account (more on this in a moment) and when the store recognized the iPod and accepted the registration, I unplugged the iPod from the PC and suddenly it found the network. Incidentally, I did this myself, with no input from the experts, it was simply an idea and it seems to have worked, at least somewhat. Now, as to why I say "somewhat": while the iPod can find my home wireless network, it cannot find any other network, including the Apple store network. No matter where else I take the iPod, it reads "network not found" or "no network access". On the iTunes setup: I managed to get all the way through the account setup before the iPod lost the wireless network, but at the last screen, the system kicked me out saying I was using an invalid password. BTW: this is the exact same password the same system had accepted less than five minutes before this error message appeared.
The final blow to all this incredible hassle happened just a bit ago: I tried accessing tech support, using the same serial # I've been using (the latest serial # from the latest iPod they have given me) and received a message saying that I must now pay for support!! Okay - so let me get this straight: I buy an iPod. It doesn't work. I take the iPod to the Apple store, where they confirm that it won't work. I am given a second iPod - which fails within hours. I return to the Apple store, am given a 3rd iPod - that also fails within a few hours. Now, I've used up my free support?!! Interesting.

  • Software on multiple ipod touches

I purchased the current software for my ipod touch. Can I also install it on another ipod touch for a family member who has a different itunes account?

It isn't piracy. Apple allows everything bought under 1 account to be used on multiple devices.
Erm, you apparently missed the second sentence of the original posters query:
+"Can I also install it on another ipod touch for a family member who has a different itunes account? "+
Apple allows you to install iTunes purchases on as many Apple devices *as you own*. The OP already made it clear the second iPod touch doesn't belong to him.

  • OS3.0 Cost for Multiple Ipod Touches

I have 2 Ipod Touches associated with my Itunes account. Will I have to pay $10 for OS3.0 once and install it on both Ipod Touches OR will I have to pay $10 per Ipod Touch upgrade?

    Hi,
If it is like the last update, 2.0, then just once per account covers multiple devices.
    Regards,
    Dud.

  • Apps on multiple iPod touches

My wife and I are planning on each getting a 32Gb iPod touch and an 8Gb iPod touch for our son. Currently we each have our own iPods (2 Nanos and one 5g 30Gb video) and all connect to iTunes on my account and only via my iMac. We don't have multiple iTunes accounts and as we sync now we share the same library with no trouble. My question is when we get our iPod touches and purchase apps will we have to purchase multiple copies of apps or can we just use one copy for all iPod touches?

If you use the same account, then you can share the apps.

  • HT3529 We have multiple iPod Touch's in our house. If we all want our own iMessage do we have to create new Apple ID's?

My son was the first to get an iPod Touch and he set up his iMessage.
Now my daugther has an iPod Touch, but we aren't sure how to set up iMessage so she doesn't get her brother's messages/chat... and can set up her own.
Does she require a new Apple ID for this?

You have to use seperate Apple IDs to use iMessage.

  • How to have multiple iPod Touches co-exist in the same house

My five kids and my girlfriend all have iPod touches, as follows; 3 x 4th gen, 2 x 3rd gen, 1 x 2nd gen. Up until my girlfriend got her 4th gen, yesterday, they all used the same Apple ID, which was mine. This wasn't really as issue, as all the kids wanted to play the same games, and if an app was bought for one, all got it, etc. Last night I decided that this really wasn't going to be any use, going forward, so I thought that I could create different Apple ID's for at least the 4th gen user, then I would be good. One issue is that my 11 year old son, has a 4th gen and I cannot create an Apple ID for him because he is too young apparently. This situation is a mess, can anyone recommend the best go forward plan for me?

No. A single DAQ Assistant can only be used for just analog inputs or just analog outputs. You can of course have any number and any type (i.e. voltage, temperature, etc) of analog inputs in a single task and any number and any type of analog outputs in a single task. You can see this yourself when you initially create the task in the Assistant or when you click on the 'Add' button once it's initially created.

  • Syncing contacts/calendars on multiple iPod Touch using 1 Apple ID

My wife and I each have an iPod Touch (5th gen) connected to a single Apple ID.
We each have our own calendars and contacts and do not want to mix them together. Unfortunately, I had already upgraded our iMac to 10.9. Contacts and calendars now go through iCloud (grumph!) instead of the local computer.
Is there anyway to keep our calendars and contacts separate without adding another Apple ID? That would make managing our music collection impossible.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Create a NEW account/ID using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on one deviceiPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
and Settings>iCloud to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
    Settings>GameCenter
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

  • Best charging solution for multiple iPod Touches?

We have 1 iMac desktop computer and 4 G2 iPod touches. I want to know the best way to charge them. The kids want chargers for their rooms, so a recommendation for wall chargers would be good. I thought a hub with 4 usb ports might work, but would it have enough power to do the job?
    Any solutions appreciated. Thank You!

  • Update Multiple iPod touches

Okay, I have more than one iPod touch, and I wondering. When the new 3.0 update comes out, do I have to buy the update for each iPod or do I only have to buy it once?

No one can know for sure, but so far all the updates are for your account, not a specific iPod, so based on that, you could update several iPods and pay once.
    Hope this helps.
