Multiple ipod users on itunes how prevent auto load

i just received ipod i have itunes on computer already

how do i get registered without their songs automatica;;i loading to my ipod
would like manual download

You could also create multiple user accounts. iTunes libraries are separated by uer account, so a new account will have an empty library.
To set up another User Account in Windows, open Control Panel, and select User Accounts. Create a new account (see the sidebar for help) and then log into that account. (You can use fast user swiching to leave yourself loged in and switch between the two accounts. Just go to Start -> Log Off -> Switch User) Once you are logged into the new account, open iTunes and you will see an empty library ready for you to fill with music. Hope this helps!

  • Multiple iPod users on one computer, one iTunes

    Need help.
We have 3 iPod 5th generation using one computer and each of us have different tastes in music/movies/games etc. I just spent 6 hours redoing my personal setting to resync my iPod after my son reset it for his tastes. Is there any way of setting up preferences within iTunes for each iPod to prevent or elivate this total waste of time. When adding new music, audiobooks, and/or movies it should be a no-brainer to resync them but it is a total pain-in-the-arse.
    Thank you

When the iPods belong to different people, there are basically three ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library
    b) Creating Multiple Libraries in a single user account
    c) Creating multiple user accounts.
Note: When you are sharing an iTunes library, you don't have to set each iPod to update in the same manner, you can mix and match from the options below as each iPod has it's own update settings
Sharing a Library and/or User Account
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish): iPod - Syncing Music
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
Loading the iPod shuffle differs slightly but it can still be used with the others, for details have a look at this page: Adding songs to iPod shuffle - Windows
    Multiple Libraries
It's also possible to have multiple libraries in a single account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. This can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
    Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists
I don't use Windows so I can't give you a step by step on that one, however I can point you to another web page which should help you out. You can read about Windows user accounts here: Using Windows XP User Accounts

  • How do I synch multiple ipods to my iTunes

I have 3 iPods - a mini, a nano, and a regular kind. How can I synch them all to the same computer containing iTunes? I also want to download different contecnt on each, as I have far more content than the amount of space on the nano...and of course, I use them for different purposes.

I know it's possible as I've done it before but I've forgotten how to do it, can anyone help please? :-(

  • Multiple ipod users

there are 2 new ipod users in the house now, how do we keep the music seperate. i'm really lost!!! we connected both new ipods to the computer and cant figure out how to get music on them. also... how do we delete songs from a shuffle?

There are basically two methods for managing multiple iPods with one computer. See them here:
Method 1 - Create different Windows users accounts for each iPod on this computer.
Method 2 - Create a playlist in iTunes for each iPod.
To make Method 2 work, connect one of your iPods, and click on it in the left-source panel.
Under the "Music" tab, and set your option for a specific playlist(s) under the "Sync Music" option.
Do the same with your other iPod; not connected at the same time as the other one, though.
For more details on this matter, check out Apple's Support article about it:
How to manage multiple iPods using one computer
also... how do we delete songs from a shuffle?
If you're on manual managing mode in iTunes, all you have to do is:
Connect your iPod to your computer.
Click on its name in iTunes' left source panel when it gets recognized (after a few seconds).
Click on the iPod music library, select a song, then click on "Delete" key, or drag the file to your Trash bin on your computer.
If you're on automatic transfer option in iTunes, you'll need to remove the song from the playlist you're syncing to your shuffle, or just the whole library; depending on that you're currently set for.
Then, re-sync the iPod again, and the song should be deleted on this sync.

  • Multiple iPods on one Itunes account

I have had an iTunes account on my laptop for years, and have it currently hooked in withan iTouch.
My fiance just recently bought a new iPod, and I am wondering if I can hook her new iPod to my laptop w/ the iTunes account, and not ruin anything?
Also, she is about to buy a new laptop, so if she can put music on her new iPod from my iTunes account, when she puts her new iPod on the new laptop, will it wipe it off?
Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Have IPOD and partners Itunes - how to use it for me?

I am not good with technology and easily confused! I have an old IPOD that is full with about 2000 of my songs. We have moved overseas and I use my partners computer. He has Itunes installed with all his IPOD details on it.
My question is - how do I get all my info on it so I can edit my songs, put new downloads on etc. At the moment I am listening to the same stuff i loaded on 4 yrs ago when I got the IPOD and it drives me mad.
I dont want it to delete his stuff - just want the facility to run my own Itunes with my Ipod.
    How so i do this????

    Hey there,
One solution is to copy all the music currently on your iPod to your partner's computer and then restore the ipod through iTunes and resync all the old music back to it as well as the new music. This way, you can update the ipod with new songs and play counts and such.
You could even create an entire new empty library for just your Tunes on his computer. Instructions on how to do this can be found in this Apple support document, which actually provides several methods on how to manage multiple iPods with one computer.
[How to use multiple iPods with one computer|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495]
As to how to copy music from your iPod to the computer, there are several ways you can accomplish this. The first link after the Apple support document below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

  • Multiple iPod Users on the same computer & Music Sharing

Looking for some help...1 computer, 4 individual users. I originally purchased my iPod, ran the iTunes software of have a substantial library.
Chirstmas-time, 3 iPods purchased for wife and two kids (the other three users). Am I supposed to load the iTunes software for each user (each time I try it asks if I want to uninstall the prior versions).
I have tried to share music and set them up as "Playlists" on my iTunes, but they then lose their own Playlist functionality.
    Help!?!
    Dell   Windows XP

This is what I would do.
1- if you computer has a d: or e: drive create a new folder on e:\myipodmusic
if it does not create a new folder on c:\myipodmusic
change the folder on you ipod advanced-general and select change the folder to c:\myipodmusic or whatever name you chose for your new folder, select ok.
2- export your library to c:\myipodmusic or to a safe folder and remember where you put it, you will use it later.
3- login as a diferent user your wife name for example.
open itunes. It will start detecting music on her profile.
if you do not like this music deleted.
4- on itunes go to file-import and select the library that you export on step 2 c:\myipodmusic the music that you have on you profile o library will be on your wife as well too.
I did the same steps on my daughter computer, I exported her library and then login as administrator and import her library and now I had her music. We sharing music.
I hope this help you I not apple technician neither I represent them, I am a regular user as you. My daughter has a xp professional service pack and using ipod 5th generation. firware 1.1.2 itunes 6.0.5
    Good luck.

  • Multiple ipods on 1 itunes (ratings)

    hello,
as far as i found, this isn't asked for in the past but,
i have multiple ipods + iphone that have to be synced on 1 pc.
everything works perfectly, like expected from apple but i found out one thing.
when I change my song-rating on one ipod and resync it to itunes, itunes changes the rating. ok so far.
on my other ipods, when i resync them , they restore the rating in itunes back to theirs.
let's say ... tom waits - martha 4 stars on everything.
change it to 5 on 1ipod -> itunes changes after sync to 5 stars.
second ipod sync -> martha back to 4 stars...
    anyone got some ideas?
    thanks

    it actually doesn't matter.
you don't have to download a song but it was in the "mental assumption" that if you do not add a new song, you're not in need to sync the other device...
    it's just
change the rating on 1, sync with pc, sync 2 and the rating is back to the rating before 1.
(sorry for the late replies, working all days now... )
