Multiple ipod with itunes

PLEASE HELP!!!! I have a 3G 20GB ipod and my house mate has a 4GB ipod mini and we are wanting to use the same i tunes programme to transfer songs to both the pods. it is fairly obvious that the mini will not hold as much as the 20GB pod so how do we transfer only selected songs to his pod without disrupting the updating and transferring of music to my ipod??????is there a simple way?any help would be greatly received!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, I kinda get that....But I have a bigger problem. My I just got an Ipod Nano for christmas. My sister has an older version (the 20GB) and when I downloaded my software, it no-longer alowed hers on to get on and update her songs. We want seperate Itunes, especially since hers holds more than mine, so can we do that? I don't want the hassel of checking and uncheacking songs. Can I have hers under her name and mine under my-own? On top of that, My dad just got one to. his is the same type as my sister's. Can we each have our own library of somgs?

  • Managing multiple ipods with Itunes

itunes won't let me copy songs from one library linked to a nano to a Video ipod whose library is on another computer

Assuming that all iPods, music and libraries are yours the best bet would be to set the iPods to update manually. Also try this discussion string for other suggestions: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=322004. Please let us know if any of this helps.

  • How to use multiple iPods in iTunes??

Had existing iPod touch and bought a second one, need to know how to setup in iTunes and have different libraries if possible

    Hello hog head,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can create a second library by holding down the Shift key upon opening iTunes. From there, choose to create a new library. For more and information regarding using this method and others for managing multiple iPods with one computer, see this Apple support document.

Also, you can have many different playlists set up in one iTunes library and have iPods just sync from one playlist.
I am assuming you want two different libraries?
Either way, see the link for more information.

  • Multiple iPods with Multiple computers

I have two iPods and each syncs with a different machine. Each has a unique music library. What would happen if I switched iPods. i.e. plugging two different iPods into one machine? Will they somehow merge the libraries, or will iTunes just complain that I'm confused.
    Thanks,

  • Second Ipod with iTunes

I have a regular IPod I've been using with iTunes through Firewire. I bought a nano as a second player but can't get iTunes to recognize it. It's connected through USB. What am I doing wrong?

Are you connecting both iPods to the computer simultaneously, or one at a time?
If you've been connecting the iPods simultaneously, disconnect both iPods, restart your computer, then connect the nano only, not with the other iPod.
If that's not the case, then this may be a case of Windows drive letter confusion. Re-assign your previous iPod's drive letter, disconnect it, then connect your nano to your computer.
For directions, see this article, and scroll down to the "Change the Drive letter" section:

  • Can not synchronise my ipod with itunes. the required medium can not be found

Can not synchronise my ipod with itunes. I receive the message the required medium can not be found

Is it along the lines of the "required disk cannot be found?"  What OS are you using and are you running the latest version of iTunes?  I assume you have tried multiple USB ports as well as tried using a different USB sync cable to rule out a damaged/faulty cable?
Do you have any other USB devices plugged in while you try to sync your iPod?

  • 2 ipods with Itunes

I just came back to Itunes and my wife and I both have ipods. We want to share a music library and have different music on our seperate ipods. I have done all the ripping while in my XP profile, but when I switch to her's I don't see any music in her library. I have worked around the issue by dragging and dropping the itunes folder into her library but am afraid that this isn't the best solution going forward. I have tried to get the library to share but must be missing something very obvious. Any help would be great. thanks
