  • HT3622 I need different facetime and messenger details for multiple ipods on one apple id how do I do this when in itunes?

I have an iphone and my 2 children have Ipod touch they have to be set up under my apple id to be able to purchase apps. But we all want to have separate facetime & messenger accounts. My contact list seems to have appeared on one of my childs ipod touch. How can I set up separate accounts but under one apple id.

    Answers that I know :
a, yes - I have an iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch linked to my account on the same computer/iTunes and haven't had any problems with it
b, you only need to purchase the app once, it can then be copied onto all your devices. Some of my apps are on all three of my devices. If you get newspapers or magazines then I believe that some only allow one download of each magazine/newspaper, so you may not be able to have them on each device.
c, as long as you have your own Game Center accounts then you should be able to - I've never used it
d, yes, you can have them on all your devices, you don't need to multi-purchase them
e, I think that you will each need your own email address for them - in Settings > iMessage you can link an email address with messaging, and similarly for FaceTime (Settings > FaceTime) - that way messages/calls will only go to the correct person. Using FaceTime ; there is also some info on the built-in apps in iPad's manual and iPod's manual
f, all content purchased via an iTunes account is tied to that account, and they cannot be copied or transferred to a different account. So any content purchased on your wife's account will remain tied to her account. You can have more than one iTunes account authorised on a computer's iTunes (Store > Authorise This Computer), so you can have her content as well as yours on the computer that you sync to.
    g, don't know, I've not made any in-app purchase
h, with the device connected to and selected on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, then on the tabs on the right-hand side you can control what is synced to that device. Those selections should then be remembered each time you re-connect that device, so you can have different selections for each device and you shouldn't have to re-do the selection each time you connect it.

  • Multiple iPods on one Itunes account

I have had an iTunes account on my laptop for years, and have it currently hooked in withan iTouch.
My fiance just recently bought a new iPod, and I am wondering if I can hook her new iPod to my laptop w/ the iTunes account, and not ruin anything?
Also, she is about to buy a new laptop, so if she can put music on her new iPod from my iTunes account, when she puts her new iPod on the new laptop, will it wipe it off?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Make sure each iPod has a unque name and just connect the iPods to the computer one at a time. Check the apps and other items that you want synced to each iPod.  Also see:

  • Multiple users on one apple account.  How can I see which devices were used to purchase apps?

I share my apple account with my three children.  Inappropriate apps were purchased.  Everyone denied making the purchase.  Is there anyway I can find out which device made these purchases?

If only one of them purchased the app(s), wouldn't it only be on that one device (plus the computer's iTunes library if you have automatic downloads turned on)?

  • Syncing multiple ipods to one itunes account

I have two ipods nano's and two shuffles. I'm having difficulty getting the twonano's to sync to aone account. One is recognized, when the second is plugged in, the sync ipod options is greyed out and not available. I haven't got past this to try the shuffles yet. Any help? All of the directions that I find state that it should plug and play by merely plugging the second in in and selecting sync......

Check your update preferences. Click on the picture of the iPod in the left pane of iTunes. This will bring up the tabs in the main pane to the right. In the first tab "Summary" check to see if your iPod is set to "manually manage songs and playlists" if it is remove the checkmark and the one against "enable disk use" and click "Apply", your iPod should sync automatically after that.
If it's not set to manual and still won't sync then try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Multiple iphones on 1 apple account with one apple password. and when i airdrop my mom my number shows up as my brothers number.... this only happens on airdrop

multiple ipones on 1 apple account with one password... when i airdrop my mom it shows up as my brothers contact on her phone... what should i do?

Yes, I understand. That number can't be used for SMS, however, The iPad has no built in SMS capabilites, only iMessage. The only way you can get an iMessage to show with a phone number is if you have an iPhone tied to the same Apple ID. Otherwise, the iMessages will show up with your Apple ID.
If you want to SMS from your iPad, you will need an app such as TextFree.

Yes, they certainly can. There is no limit to the number of iPods you can have synced with one iTunes library or account.
    2. Can each touch select certain items to sync or is it all of the apps?
Yes, you can set each of the iPods up to sync only certain apps. For more help on managing multiple iPods with one computer, I would check out this Apple support document. [How to use multiple iPods with one computer|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495]

    Yes it is possible.

  • Our family has one apple account, but several devices linked to it.  How do I sync my device (Ipad) without getting all my 11 year old daughter's apps on it?

I need help syncing my Ipad.  Our family uses one apple account for multiple devices... how do I sync my ipad without getting all my daughters apps?  How do I know which of my apps need to be synced to the computer?

Simply select only the apps that you want to sync to your iPad and then sync. You can control what syncs to the iPad. You may be best served by turning off auto sync.
Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Click OK.
Connect your iPad to the computer.
    Launch iTunes
Click on the iPad name on the left side under the Devices heading.
Click on the Apps Tab in the iTunes window on the right.
Click on only the apps that you want to sync in the list of apps under the Sync Apps heading.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
Click on Apply in the lower corner of iTunes.
