Multiple Keynote presentations onto iDVD?

I am trying to create a DVD with multiple keynote presentations? I first created multiple QT files and created a DVD that worked well, but did not allow for manual progression when played form the DVD (even with the option selected on QT file creation). Manual progression works when the file is played from my computer but not when played from DVD.
Next, I tried to export the files directly from Keynote to iDVD. However, I can't figure out how to get multiple files onto the same iDVD file.
Any thoughts on how I can get accomplish:
1) Multiple Keynote files onto the same DVD, with
2) manual progression through slides when running from the DVD?
Thanks!

You have some great suggestions here. Very good info from both the above posts.
There is a workaround but it doesn't involve iDvd. Rather it involves Keynote => iMovie as a .dv stream => minidv camcorder/ tape => set top DVD Recorder in sessions.
Here’s a possible solution that involves exporting each individual keynote movie as a QT file / Movie to the desktop.
From there you export each file as a .dv stream to your camcorder (assuming you have a minidv camera and iM6 which allows you to export back to the camera. Like this:
You record all the movies to minidv tape.
Connect the camcorder to the digital FW input on a set top DVD Player / Recorder (in my case a Daewoo DVR07). Set the recorder to record in Sessions to rewrite able DVD-RW media and export one QT movie per session. Each session will have it’s own Basic Menu.... like this:
You’d have to use the remote control to play each movie and pause when appropriate.
Btw .... it might also be possible to use Toast to record these QT files/movies in separate sessions onto one DVD.

  • Keynote Presentation in iDVD

I have a Keynote presentation from iWork 08. It has a video clip on one of my slides. I'd like to manually click through the slides. I export as Quicktime. But when I bring it in to iDVD and burn, I am not able to click through the slides. Rather, the DVD player tries to play the slides like a movie and quickly goes through the presentation on its own. How can I fix this?

I'd try exporting all the 'static' slides as individual still images and export the slide with the video clip as a movie.
Create a slideshow in iDVD and add all your slides and the movie in the sequence you want them to play. Set the slide duration to Manual. I suggest you NOT select any transition. You probably will need to use the Chapter button on your DVD player remote to advance the slides.

  • Error message trying to burn keynote presentation in idvd

I know this has been posted before - but I can't seem to find an answer to fix my problem. I am trying to export a 30 slide presentation from Keynote 3 to iDVD 6 - the presentation is using slides which should be the optimum slide size for iDVD (according to help files) it has an sudio file with it, but when I go to burn it using iDVD i get the following error message:
    Error During Track Initialization
There was an error during track initialization and iDVD
cannot continue burning this DVD 'the disc has not been
touched yet!). Please select Delete Encoded Assets'
from the Advanced-menu and try burning this project again.
I tried exporting the presentation to QT, which then worked and allowed me to burn the dvd, but the picture quality was completely rubbish.
Am at a total loss what to do next as have spent last three days trying various things with no success... idvd now keeps crashing on me as well. I have an urgent deadline I need to meet by next week

Does your slideshow in Keynote have audio associated with it?
Exporting from Keynote to iDVD6 will essentially strip the audio from said presentation. As as you may have noticed, the results aren't all that great in terms of visual quality either .... and it will get even worse once compressed into mpeg2 /iDVD which is less than a third of a megapixel in resolution for still images). It's just the nature of the beast until we seen Blue Ray firmly established. This begs the question .... then why use this particular option for a slideshow presentation ??? Not the approach I'd use at all.
Suggestion: Find a better way to present your 30 slides /presentation that will do some measure of justice to the original image. Here are two apps I'd recommend looking into:
    http://lqgraphics.com/phototomovie.php
    http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/overview/
Btw ... most Errors During Track Initialization tend to point at user's choice of media and or read/write speed when burning. I recommend using only Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R for troubleshooting purposes on this forum. Take the time to lower the burn speed to 4x or lower using apple's disc utilities or Roxio Toast. (Slower is better).
Hope this helps but if not come on back.

  • Controlling multiple Keynote presentation machines at once.

Does anyone know of a network based program that will allow me to control multiple machines running Keynote? I have a multiple screen application that needs to have 3 Keynote presentations going "in sync".  I found mention of a 2006 program called Keyshowx from a website called keywebx.com. Unfortunately, it looks like this website no longer functions, so I am unable to purchase the program.
Does anyone have an idea of how this might be done?
    Cheers,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
Did you ever find a solution to this?  I'm in the same boat, looking for a solution to sync Keynotes runnings on multiple macs, and everyone on the web points to that KeyshowX application, which is not longer available.
    Cheers,
    Peter

  • How do I fire multiple Keynote presentations on a Network?

Hi I work for a small theatre. We are running three projectors each with it's own different keynote slide show. We need to fire all three slideshows at the same time. The computers we are using are Mac Minis.
Can this be down using a router and a local network connection? Maybe a fourth mac firing the other three?
Will the apple remote or a kensington remote trigger more than one computer? Something like a tv remote does with the same brand tvs.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums!
This Apple help article says that one remote can indeed control multiple computers.

  • Launch multiple keynotes presentations each on different display

I have a Mac Mini connected to 2 displays and would like to present two different presentations one on each screen.
I know how to write a script to launch each as a separate instance of keynote. My question is how can I assign it to a particular display.
    #!/bin/bash
    open -n /Users/user/Desktop/Presentationname1.key
    open -n /Users/user/Desktop/Presentationname1.key
So I wind up with presentation 1 on display 1 and presentation 2 on display 2.
    Thanks
    James Denney

This can not be done it Keynote because of the way it takes complete control of the graphics system.
If you need two separate presentations running, you will need two Macs to run them.

  • How can I embed a Keynote presentation on a web page?

I created a Keynote presentation using Keynote version 6.5 (OS X Yosemite). I found the "export as html" option, which creates an entire web page named index.html. I opened that web page in Dreamweaver, but I'm not talented enough to figure out how to turn that page into a proper index.html page, including the graphics, background, and links (etc.) that I want on my sites home page.
I have also tried to embed the presentation onto a web page that I've already created, but I can't figure out how to do that, either.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to embed a custom-sized Keynote presentation onto a web page and, if so, how?
OR can you tell me how to edit the page that Keynote created when I open it up in Dreamweaver?
I think the former would be easier, given what I've seen when I try to do the latter.
I have been using Dreamweaver for many years - since before Adobe bought it - and the site I'm currently updating is already in Dreamweaver. That's why I'm asking about Dreamweaver (if you were curious).
Of course, I've probably not provided all the information you would need to help me, so please ask questions. I won't be offended if they point out my ignorance!
Thank you for any help you might provide.

The only workaround I found was to use the desktop version of Keynote, which allowed me to export the presentation as a set of images to iPhoto. From there, they show up as an album and can be brought back to the iPad, and then played as a looping slide show in the pictures app. It worked perfectly.

  • Import keynote presentation into iWeb?

I was thinking about adding a keynote presentation onto my web page as a slide show. Is this possible?
    Thanks!

You CAN add a Keynote presentation into iWeb (exported as a QuickTime movie), you just have to be aware of some minor issues. One of the issues you'll run into you can see on this page.
    http://web.mac.com/makentosh/iWeb/tipsfromtheiceberg/Blog/9BD2E7B5-AE3D-4698-A7F 7-CB8155D7AAC9.html
Depending on the speed of your connection, if it starts playing early, it will do the first slide over and over until the full thing has been downloaded. Give it a try and post back here or in the Keynote discussions if you have any problems.

  • Sides of Keynote presentation cut off when exported to iDVD

    Hi,
I have a keynote presentation with the slides set to 800X600 that I am trying to burn to a DVD. I am able to burn fine but when it plays on my DVD player and CRT Samsung TV, the sides of the slides are cut off so that the first and last letters of many lines are not viewable. I also tried on a friend's TV with the same results The DVD looks fine when playing on my iMac but it's widescreen.
I first tried exporting the keynote presentation as a quicktime movie set to full quality 800X600. The next time I exported to iDVD which first exported to a quicktime movie with a size of 720X540. I thought that would fix it but that presentation also has the sides cut off. The iDVD project is using a standard 4:3 aspect ration. Should I try a widescreen project or won't that make more of the slide disappear. Any help would be much apprecitated.

Your problem is that while on a monitor, you can see the entire picture. Any DVD player connected to a standard television is going to show, at most, 90% of the image...some may only show 80%. This is due to something called Overscan on televisions. To account for this overscan, you have to make sure that as you're creating your presentation, you have nothing near the edges.
A good rule of thumb is to create an area that's 80% of the size of your presentation (in 4:3 resolutions, widescreen, you only have to worry about the right and left) and, as you're creating, keep dropping this shape onto your presentation slides to make sure you're inside it. Then, you'll be pretty sure that even on the worst televisions, all you information will show.

  • ?? burn multiple iMovie movies onto one dvd with iDVD

I understand how to burn a single iMovie project onto a dvd by using the share menu to share with iDVD. But how can i burn multiple iMovie projects with iDVD onto one disc??

You can share the first movie from iMovie, but all the others will need to be exported from iMovie as movies and dragged into the iMovie project.

How can I scan documents onto a Keynote Presentation?

You don't. You scan the document with another app (eg, Image Capture), save it in a compatible format (eg, TIFF, JPEG, etc), then import the resulting image in your presentation in the usual manner, ie,
    Use Media Browser…
Choose Insert > Choose, select the file, and then click Insert.
Drag a file from the Finder.
Drag a file from another application.

  • Multiple audio files in Keynote presentations

While working within a Keynote presentation, I wanted to create a presentation that had background music. However, at one point in the presentation, I wanted to simultaneously end one audio file and begin the next audio file. I added the audio files as objects, and in Build Inspector, ordered all objects. I succeeded in building out the first audio file and building in the second audio file, however, instead of the second file beginning immediately, there is a 7-8 second delay even though I started the build immediately after the build before to end the first audio file. Is it possible to do what I am trying to do?

Try the following; it works for me.
First Audio clip: Build-in (Start Audio) will begin playback
Build-out (Stop Audio) will end playback.
Second Audio clip: Build-in (Start Audio) will begin playback
To have first clip end when second begins, create a Build-Out (Stop Audio) and have the Build-In (Start Audio) of the second clip occur simultaneously with the Build-Out of the first clip.
By the way, you can have these audio clips associated with a slide and still have an audio track running in the background as a Soundtrack. Be sure, however, that you record the various audio tracks at an appropriate level before you import them into Keynote because you cannot balance them while in Keynote.

  • No Audio on Keynote exported to iDVD in quicktime

I am at my wits end with this! I just got this mac in May so bear with me (recently converted PC-er). This is my problem, in a nutshell:
    1) I created a keynote presentation
    2) I created a soundtrack for it in Garageband (blending two songs together to play out nicely over it) and then placed it in the document. It worked fine.
    3) I exported the keynote presentation (making sure to include audio) to quicktime and put it on my desktop
    4) In the meantime I had created an iDVD project to place this presentation in...everything is working fine audio wise on the menus
    5) I dropped the presentation into the project--it encoded, I previewed it to make sure it worked, it did.
    6) I burned it onto a dvd
    7) tested it this morning by putting it in my dvd player at home and the movie plays, but there is no sound! Help!
Interesting things that might be significant
    1) when i exported the keynote to quicktime and saved it on my desktop--it actually created two icons-one of the movie (that played the movie w/the soundtrack) and one that looks like it was just the soundtrack. Is that significant?
    2) the tracks I used to make the garage band mix were purchased from iTunes but to make sure I didn't run into any DRM issues I burned them onto a disc and then re-imported them-making sure to use the 'burned' songs in my mix.
I am trying to get this ready to show for a presentation on Saturday and it's getting down to the wire.
thank you in advance for your help.

Thanks for the link, it looks like this is just a bug in b/w Keynote and Quicktime and I'd need to upgrade to Quicktime Pro in order to make it work--that's not an option for me right now so instead I took the slides from Keynote, imported them as an album to iPhoto and tried to send it as a slideshow to iDVD, but that made the video jumpy (although I did have my soundtrack). My final solution was to take the slides from iPhoto, drop them into iMovie, add transitions b/w each slide to emulate the feel I was going for--and adding my soundtrack there. I exported it to my desktop and then dropped it into iDVD. It works great. I am disappointed that I could not have the builds in the slides that I wanted-but this current state works.
I wish I'd just started with iMovie. Next time I definitely will!

  • Highlighting text box for multiple choice presentation.

I'm making a multiple choice presentation and need help highlighting the correct answers.
I'm using Keynote v5.3 and here is the format of my slides:
    Text box - Question
    Text box - (A) Answer A
    Text box - (B) Answer B
    Text box - (C) Answer C
    Text box - (D) Answer D
When I click to advance, the desired effect I'd like is for the correct answer to turn red in order to let the class know that it's the correct answer.
I looked on the Build Inspector tool but the only Effects that appear in the Action section are Move, Opacity, Rotate and Scale. None which I don't want.
Is there a way to animate the correct answer/text box to change color?
    Please help. Thanks!

builds only work in  linear order ( 1, then 2, then 3,  then 4 ) they don't run in a random access selection,
( 4, 1, 2, 3 ) which is what would be required in the method you describe.
the  way to do this is to use hyperlinks from the first slide to four other slides
    on slide 1:
type the question and  the multiple choice statements
draw a shape beside each statement and use this as a hyperlink button to the  respective slide number
    select each shape in turn:
inspector > hyperlink > enable hyperlink > link to slide and select the respective slide number
when you click on   button A, it will display the the responce to choice d
by the way, viewers have been taught that colours have  certain associations ( country dependant of course)
such as red for danger so
the traditional colour to use for a correct answer is GREEN
the traditional colour to use for an incorrect answer is RED

  • How can I find a font in a Keynote presentation?

Is there a way to do a "find" for the places that a particular font appears in a set of Keynote slides?
When I opened a Keynote presentation I'd created last year I got a warning that it could not find "MS PGothic" -- which is likely true since I don't use that particular font.  The warning told me that this font was on the 2nd slide but all I see there is the standard TNR font that I use for text blurbs.  I'd like to search for where this random font appears but I could not find a way to include a font-spec in the Edit->Find parameters.
Is there some place where I can see all the fonts in use in a presentation and, more specifically, pinpoint the places were a given font is in use?
This is Keynote on my computer, not the iPad rendition of Keynote.

The Replace Font wasn't useful because the rogue font was not visible and, thus, a change to some other font (even when I picked one that should have been a stand-out) didn't help me locate the bad spot(s).  I did use your suggestion and created a new slide, moving bits onto it from the 'bad' slide until I got that new one to 'break' also.
I eventually narrowed it down to the 'soft' line breaks I'd inserted in some of the text blocks.  For some reason that I can't explain those line-break characters had rendered in that MS PGothic font, which I don't use (and which I had disabled). Once I knew the pattern, it was a fairly simple matter to select the text block (including the line breaks) and reapply the paragraph's font.  And, viola!, the warnings are now gone.
