Multiple languages in Single Edition DPS

Hi,
We have just finished a single-folio application for a client in English and are about to publish it to the App Store. But our client has requested that we add 5 languages for the second version of the application, to be published in a month or two.
We've tried looking around for the best way to do this using Single Edition DPS but have not been able to find any documentation about how to do it. We know it's possible to do it using multi-folio applications, but our client doesn't want to publish a multi-folio app.
Has anybody here tried publishing a multi-language app using Single Edition? Any tips or links to documentation about it?
Thank you in advance for any help on this!
Diana

This is not possible with DPS Single Edition, you will have to either create separate apps for each language or you will have to include all languages in one app however that will make your app very large and also will create confusion in navigating. The best option for you would be to create separate apps for each language and publish them regionally.

  • What cloud solution includes single edition DPS publishing?

    hi,
when you subscribe to Cloud there is an option to choose "SINGLE APP" (instead of the whole cloud which gives access to included all adobe software).
So, if you choose "single app" and INDESIGN as that application, will you be able to publish single edition DPS apps as much as you want???
    thanks for clarifying.
    best regards, janne

No. You must get a full Creative Cloud subscription to publish Single Edition apps.

  • Technical support for single edition DPS

    Hi
I'm hoping somebody can help me. I'm trying to find the answer as to why I keep getting the 'folio missing error' when I try to create my app.
I've already submitted it to apple and it's been approved and appears in the app store. However, I have made a couple of text amends and now can't seem to test the new version or download the distribution zip files to re-submit to apple.
I'm quite up against it in terms of client deadline and I was wondering if somebody can maybe try and help... or is there a technical support number I can call to speak to somebody and hopefully resolve my problem?
I've tried the number on the website but I'm uk based and the number appears to be invalid every time I attempt to call.
A few things that may help:
    • I'm on the same computer as the original app was built and submitted, however the indesign files (although in exactly the same location) are saved on our server. Could this cause a problem?
    • I have used a single edition serial number, so the delete button is greyed out in the DPS app builder app
    • All articles are updated and I have tried launching DPS app builder both independently and from the workflow menu in Indesign but keep getting same error message.
I'd be really grateful if somebody could shed some light on the problem. I'm assuming this is a pretty common problem unless I'm doing something wrong / missing something really obvious??
Looking forward to hopefully getting a reply soon.
    Many thanks,
    Pete

  • Single Edition DPS et Creative Cloud ?

Comment obtenir le niveau Single Edition de DPS avec un abonnement Creative Cloud ?

No. There are requirements for Apple that force some of this into Mac-only. In case it matters, I’m not thrilled about it either since I’m primarily a Windows user but I have a Mac, too, which I use when I have to create an app.
But all of the initial work is done on Windows. You will find the same issues with other systems as well.

  • The Single Edition DPS License is include in CC subscription?

As I told in title, i would like to know if the Single Edition License DPS is already included in CC subscription.
    TY.
    Enrico.

Yes, DPS Single Edition is included with Creative Cloud Complete Subscription and Creative Cloud for Teams Complete subscription.
Using this you can create unlimited Single Edition Apps for iPad and publish to App store.
Complete refers to a subscription plan which includes all CC products. For more refer to the buying guide: http://www.adobe.com/in/products/creativecloud/buying-guide.html

  • Single Edition DPS adding articles, FEES?

If I publish a folio with my single edition through the cloud that has 5 articles, can I add 4 more articles to that same folio at a later date? And then add 2 more articles at another date? And if I can, do I just delete that folio and upload the new one? What would the workflow be to do this? and MOST IMPORTANT, what if any fees/costs are involved in doing this.
Would love an answer to this. Thanks everyone

You cannot add articles once your app is approved by Apple but yes can add articles even after publishing folio. There is no need to delete folio and can use same folio.
The workflow of DPS Single edition is different from other editions thus there is difference in publishing process.  You can only publish as private and then you will have to export the Zip file from Folio producer which you already did as you wrote. Now that same zip has to be imported in Viewer Builder while building your custom viewer.
You need first use your Serial key to activate the build, then you can download the developer.ipa to test it on your iPad, remember that your Mobile provisioning file should have your iPad’s UDID added to make it work on your iPad. You can only use the serial key one, you would not be able to reset or make changes after you have used the key, thus for basic testing, use Adobe content viewer and use the serial key only on finalized content.
With Single Edition, you do not pay download fees. Download fees apply only to multi-issue apps created by Pro and Enterprise customers. Since the content is embedded inside the App, and Adobe does not host your folio or content. DPS Single Edition is 395$. That all you need to pay. You can also purchase CCM subscription in which you can build unlimited single issue apps.

  • Can't update Single Edition DPS app

    Hi,
I have created an app following this process:
Created inDesign file. Added folio overlays.
Added open document as Article in new Folio.
From folio builder panel, clicked on Create App which then opened the DPS App Builder.
Created the App in the DPS App Builder.
Activated the app with a Single Use License.
Now I need to update the app. I don't have the option to update the folio in the DPS App Builder. So I found this http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ppcompdoc/Step_by_step_guide_to_dps_se.pdf which says that I can create a new app and delete the other one, but:
I can't delete the active app
I can't activate a new app because the license is in use
How can I update the app using the Single Use License that we purchased?
    Thanks
    Rafael

You can use the serial number only once. If you need to update your app, contact Adobe technical support and ask them to reset the serial number.
By the way, if you have a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud, you can use that account ID to update or build an unlimited number of single edition apps for the iPad. A Creative Cloud license is easier to use, more versatile, and more cost effective than purchasing a single license.

What changes do you wish to make? Single Edition Serial can be reset by DPS support team on 'Approval Basis' upto 1 year from the date of purchase. Contact DPS Support regarding the same with the reason you wish to edit the app.

  • Single Edition DPS Apps Crashing in iOS 8?

    Hi Guys,
I've just been told by some readers that as soon as they have updated to iOS 8, past apps I have released - single editions, not multi-folio for iPad - just crash. They either open and crash as soon as you scroll, or crash straight away.
What is going on? Is this an update that needs to happen on Adobe's end and has yet to occur?
    Cheers
    Chris

    Hi Neil,
I think I am having the same problem as the OP. This is the error I got:
    ----- 2.2 -----
We found that your app exhibited one or more bugs, when reviewed on iPad running iOS 8, on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
Content does not load. This occurs upon launch.
If I just recreate the app with the "create app" in the folio builder will this correct the problem? Would I need to also change the provisioning profiles or anything or just a straight rebuild will fix this? Are their any updates I need to download first before I rebuild?
If it makes any different it's a single edition app. I know being a CC member would be better. The owner of the app refused to go that route. Dumb, I know.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Simulator build needed for Single-edition DPS App

    Hi everyone!
We're trying to embed our App into our site with one of those sites that offers that kind of service, but they're asking for a simulator build and won't accept .ipa files or even the distribution .zip for the App store. They do offer a plugin for Xcode that helps you take it over staright from there. Problem is, nothing except the transfer was done from within Xcode, so there's nothing there, obviously.
So, the question is, how do we get a "simulator build?" Presumably, that's what you create in Xcode for iOS simulator..? Is there a smart way of getting this from any of the builds I'll have after creating the App with DPS?
I've asked the company in question for support, but they seem a little busy setting up new offices and getting funding to answer the question or even provide some sort of troubleshooting page on their site. SUPER HELPFUL.
I've searched the DPS forum for something similar, but not found anything. If someone does have a thread link for this type of problme, please do post that, of course. Otherwise, any proverbial sharing of greymatter would be hugely appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Buying multiple single editions

    Hello
I'm a freelance designer working in the UK. Can someone at Adobe please confirm that I can buy a DPS single edition in the UK? I think I can, but it still says I can't in the DPS opening page.
Also, I understand that by buying a single edition, I'm able to publish a single app, but I'm unclear about buying multiple single editions and the relationship with the viewer builder. If I have a client who wants to publish four digital publications per year, can I buy 4 single editions and place the 4 folios in a client branded multi-issue viewer builder, or will each folio have its own viewer builder?  I feel that I need to properly understand this before I approach prospective clients.
Thank you for any guidance you can give.

    Hi,
DPS Single Edition is available in the UK. See: https://store2.adobe.com/cfusion/store/html/index.cfm?store=OLS-UK&event=displayProduct&ca tegoryPath=%2FApplications%2FDPSSingle
You have the ability to purchase multiple licenses for Single Edition per year.  You have to create 4 individual viewers.
From a customer experience, you are talking about a periodical publication (published 4 times a year). A multi-folio viewer (kiosk) with 4 folios would be a better route / solution. This will require a DPS Pro subscription.
When you go down the road of using four 'single' applications, there are chances that Apple will ask you to convert this into a multi-folio app anyway after some time (because of the customer experience); I have heard about this happening in Europe.
    With kind regards,

  • Changes to single edition with DPS May 1st 2015

Hi, we have received an email telling us that from May 1st 2015 we will not be able to use the single edition DPS. We have created an iPad app of our printed publication and it was a very long process. Can someone please tell us if we can continue working with the app we have, if so what do we have to do, and if not, do we need to redesign everything again from scratch using another method?
    Many thanks.

You will either have to upgrade to a DPS license, or find an alternative solution. Professional is no longer available, and a contract must be established on a per-case basis by contacting Adobe. It can be quite costly, depending on your situation.
DPS is licensed on a per-app basis along with a fee for access to developer tools and support. License fees are charged as an annual subscription. App fees scale in price based on audience size and use case. Once established, app fees remain fixed for the term of the contract. The app fee entitles you to produce the same app on all supported platforms, such as iOS, Android, and Windows.
The DPS Professional and Single Edition SKUs are no longer available to new customers. The app-based license model scales in price with use case and audience size to accommodate a wide range of customers and budgets.
There are alternatives, ranging from direct DPS competitors to converting fixed epubs through html5/css to apps.

  • Clarity on Single Edition vs. Professional Edition

    Hi Guys,
    I am just trying to make the decision on whether I need the professional edition or whether it’s not worth it. I was hoping some of the regulars here might be able to answer a few questions;
What happens if you buy 10,000 folios and you sell 10,001… does it automatically top up, do you get billed later, or is that extra person blocked from downloading the app until you buy more folios?
What happens with your unused folios – do they simply become available to the next product you release? What happens if you cancel your subscription, or never sell more than 10,000? Are they refunded?
If you have the Professional Edition, can you choose to still release apps as a single edition (as in free of the folio download costs) when required?
Is there any way you can release an App through the single edition service, whereby it has an expiry date. For example, if the user downloads the app and in three months you want to make it so they can’t open the app again (they have to buy a new issue, for example) can you do that?
I currently have a Creative Cloud membership, which comes with the Single Edition DPS. If I roll over into the Professional Edition, does it replace my existing package? So I have Creative Cloud plus the PE features?
    Many thanks
    Chris

I'll answer the ones I know for sure off the top of my head.
    2. Unused folios are available for any issues and publications you produce under your professional edition account. You can have multiple titles available, for example, and they all share the same bundle of folio downloads. If you cancel your subscription they are gone and are not refunded.
    3. Yes.
    4. No.
    5. They are separate. Professional Edition *only* gives you DPS publication capabilities. You still need to maintain your Creative Cloud subscription if you want access to Adobe software like InDesign, Photoshop, etc.

  • Testing Retail Single Edition?

    We have a Pro account.
I have created a Single Editon app thru App Builder and setup in-app purchase thru iTunes Connect. I have downloaded the .ipa file to my iPad. The folio functions correctly. How do I test the retail purchase of this Single Edition app?
    Tom

Why do you have to setup In-App purchase for a Single Edition App? In A Single edition DPS app, you cannot have an in-app purchase. In-app purchase is for multi issue folio. In a single edition app, your folio is backed into the app and the whole package is send and stored at Apple.
By the way, there's no purchasing test environment for a Single Edition App. You can only download the .ipa and test it on your device before sending it to Apple for approval. Apple already knows that as long as your Single Edition app is working fine for you through the developer.ipa on your test device, purchasing should not be a problem for end users. Therefore, there is no need to test the purchasing workflow
