Multiple mail accounts hangs at retrieving

I have four mail mail accounts, one is my ISP mail and the three others are No-IP.com mailboxes. When retrieving mail and there are incoming mail, the No-Ip.com mailboxes hangs, the little spinning things next to the mailboxes stops spinning and Mail hangs and I have to force quit. I have to do this for every other incoming mail and they get retrieved at least twice.
When I only had two mailboxes this wasn't a problem. I have repaired permissions and run weekly scripts.
Thanks!

If the HD is not partitioned, then this is certainly enough free space.
It may be a good idea to refresh the preferences. Quit Mail, and in the Finder open Home/Library and locate the Mail folder. Control-click over the Mail folder, and choose Duplicate -- then drag the resulting copy to the Desktop for temporary backup. Next, open Home/Library/Preferences and find the com.apple.mail.plist file and drag it to the desktop.
Relaunch Mail, which will open as though new, and when prompted to import anything DECLINE. Instead, re-enter your account info for each account, and Mail will re-discover the account folders for all your existing accounts.
Ask any needed questions, and keep us posted.

I don't think that you can. Yahoo's basic email features do not include mail forwarding.

  • Multiple mail accounts - how to get around default 'send' account

I have multiple mail accounts on my iphone - personal, work, etc... No matter which account I send from, the recipient always sees it as coming from my personal mail account. I was told this is a apple restriction - that the 'default' account in your mail settings means that only one account can be set. This is not how it used to work previously...? Any suggestiongs ?

Hi DavBMan, thanks for your reply. Yes I do know about seeing the 'from' address and manually changing it. Even when I do that, even though the phone shows the correct from address (even shows in the correct sent mailbox on the iphone), the recipient still sees another (my personal) 'from' address no matter what.
Do you know of any info on the Apple support site for this? I haven't been able to find anything.
    Again, thanks for your help

Each family member and regular user of this iMac family computer should have their own computer login account without admin privileges. You can disable automatic login so each user must manually enter their login password to login to their account and gain access to their Home folder/directory including all their own data stored within. Each family member creates their email account only with Mail under their login account.
OS X was designed for multiple users of the same computer in this way with each user's home folder/directory and any other data stored within kept separate and protected from other users.
You can enable Fast User Switching to make the process of switching between multiple login accounts a fast and easy process.
When one family member is done using the computer under their login account, they can simply log off or select another user via Fast User Switching. With automatic login disabled, no one will be able to login to someone else's account unless they provide their password.

  • Accessing multiple mail accounts comming from same incomming mail server

What is the trick to accessing multiple mail accounts comming from the same incoming mail server with the same user ID and password?
I have a website that I run all of my mail through and I have never been able to check more than one configured mail account using "MAIL".
    Thanks

    Hi Sparky,
You can configure mutliple accounts easily enough. Preferences > Accounts, then the Account Information tab. You are providing email address, incoming server, username and password for each.
First account: [email protected]; mail.host.com; sparky; sparkypassword
Second account: [email protected]; mail.host.com; sparky; sparkypassword
Check, as noted above, that all accounts are set to enabled and to autocheck: Both settings are under the Advanced tab. Then exit and save. Now your inbox will show a disclosure triangle. Click it and you'll see both accounts.
Does that explain enough? Are you haveing a problem doing this or just weren't sure how?
    Let us know!
    Good luck,
    John

  • Multiple mail accounts and contacts

I have multiple mail accounts and too often it happens that I find out that I did not use the correct mail account for the person I mailed to. Wouldn't it be nice to indicate for each contact which mail account shall be used to mail to? Almost always this is contact related, isn't it? And of course this would have the required effect in OS X and in iOs.

In Mail app you can set which email account will be default to start new message (Mail->Preferences->Composing tab->Send new message from) OR if somebody sent you an email, if you will replay to it, then your email will be sent from the same email account on which you received email.

  • Creating multiple mail accounts using 10.5's mail program

Just bought a MacBook, my first, so I'm sort of stupid regarding Mac stuff. I'm having a problem with E-mail aliases, I have a main BT E-mail account and several aliases where I use 1 username and 1 password to retrieve ALL the mail, I cannot create multple alias accounts on the Mac using the main account name and password, any ideas?

    Larry,
thanks for replying, I have tried that but it only allows me to send using the aliases, not retrieving my mail. Basically I have 1 account with several sub accounts all using the main account username and password, I get the main mailbox mails but no others, if I use the webmail facility I can read all the sub account mail in the inbox but it does not get delivered to my Mac and it does not search for any new mail other than my main account

  • Multiple mail accounts w/ passwords?

Have the imac family computer. Everyone wants their email accounts on "mail". But, as pesky children do, they go into each-others email accounts and mail silly things to their friends or subscribe them to 100 junk emailers.
So, is there any way (or any other software) that can handle 3-5 email accounts, and each account have their own password so nobody can use eachothers accounts???

  • Can't access multiple mail accounts through mail access through the web OK

Mail will not let me access more than one web mail account. The error message reads that the server will not accept my password. When I go to the web mail site, I have no problem with any of the accounts. I have checked and rechecked the mail preferences, checked with my IP service and reset all the passwords just to start from scratch. Same results. Mail will not accept the changes I have tried such as viewing the header. I have tried to delete the "to" column and add "from" but it will not accept the changes. The one account it recognizes does not function properly. It leaves mail on the server and I have checked any preferences for that also. Even when I have the "functioning" account highlighted, menu options such as "long header" are grayed out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

would that be the com.apple.mail.plist preference file located in the users folder then inside the library folder then the preference folder? I currently have no mail so i could do this. Thanks for any help

  • Is there a way to default send from one mail account across multiple mail accounts?

I have a user who has her own Exchange mailbox account. I have added two separate Exchange mail accounts. I want to be able to force her (even if she is in one of the other two mail accounts) to send from her own Exchange account. I know you can manually change it every time, but is there a way to force it automatically? Thanks.

Nope. There is no universal mailbox on the iPhone.

  • Apple Mail, multiple mail accounts, setting a default.

    Hi,
I have a client using Apple Mail under Mac OS X 10.6 and it is configured with two different email accounts, one account being the users email address (I will refer to this as EMAIL1), the other account being her bosses email address (I will refer to this as EMAIL2).
Everything is working fine apart from an occasional bug where by the user selecst the Inbox of EMAIL1 and then composes a new email which should by default list the sender as EMAIL1 but shows as EMAIL2.
As I said previously this only occasionally happens and hopefully the resolution will be to ditch the file "com.apple.mail.plist" from ~/Library/Preferences, and rename the "Mail" folder to "Mail.old" within ~/Library and recreate, and lastly recreate the account from scratch. Any other suggestions here would be appreciated.
My question to this thread is how do you permanently set the default mail account. There's nothing obvious within Apple Mail's Preferences so I'm guessing that a plist file would need edited. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My question to this thread is how do you permanently set the default mail account.
Go to Mail -> Preferences, click the Composing icon and set the desired account in the "Send new messages from" pop-up. This does not prevent mail being sent from other accounts, it simply changes the default. By default, it sends from the account that owns the currently selected mailbox, which is why new messages sometimes come up with EMAIL2 as the sender.

  • How to sync multiple mail accounts contacts

    Please help
How could you sync a pop mail account 2x gmail accounts and a imap accounts contacts is this possible?

Scroll way down Mail's side bar. You should find the sent-mail folder down there somewhere. To bring it up to the top with your other accounts' sent folders, select it, and choose Use this mailbox for -> sent under the mailboxes menu.

  • Setting signatures for multiple mail accounts

I have two mail accounts and would like to use a different signature for each of them. You seem to only be able to select "in random order" or "in sequential order" or to add a drop down menu that allows you to make the choice each time. I have not been able to just go to each account in preferences and select a signature. This is mail v. 1.3.11. Any ideas? Thanks.

I believe this feature is available in Mail 2.x only (Tiger) -- and it doesn't work very well there either, so don't upgrade just because of this.

  • Sync & multiple mail accounts???

I know that sync is capable of syncing .mac mail accounts when using the mail app, but I was wondering if it was possible to set sync up so that it can also sync my earthlink email too. If so, is there a way to have the folders that I use in the mailbox window to save old messages to sync as well?
    Thanks

    Hello Steve.
    The answer is no.
The sync function can be used on server stored mailboxes for .Mac or IMAP type accounts only since server stored mailboxes in the Mail.app and with other email clients are synchronized with the server.
Incoming messages sent to a POP type account are downloaded from the server only. You can select to keep messages on the server when downloaded by the Mail.app or with another email client but you cannot save Drafts, Sent, Trash, Junk or user created mailboxes on the server with a POP type account.
