Multiple Mail and SMS Notifications Even After Reading

Is it normal to get repeat notifications of Email messages and SMS messages?
The "repeat alert" setting under Settings>Messages is set to off, but I nevertheless receive two distinch audible or vibratory alerts (per message) whenever I get an email or SMS.
The second message occurs *even after I read the email or sms*.
Thanks for any ideas.

switche of stamnia did not help, but i think i found the troublemaker:
i disabeld every app to get the notifications (security->notifications) and then it worked everytime - then i activated all the apps that i need (there where two left overs - apps that i allowed to fetch notifications that i don´t use anymore....) and it still works.
the two apps are:
-floating notifications
-Garmin connect
i don´t like to test the both if one is the bad boy and the other one not...but now it seems to work!

I have the 4s. Constantly apps are asking to allow notifications, even after allowing them. It seems to not remember my choices. I have restarted the phone and restored it twice. Same problem. Also, all of the newstand app subscriptions have to be restored constantly almost daily to download my issues. The Zinio app does the same thing. This is why I suspect it's not just an issue with individual apps, but a deeper issue within the phone or it's systems. It's kinda frustrating to redownload subscription content over and over again. I checked account settings and passwords, etc. nothing seems to fix it. Anyone else having these issues? I am on AT&T,64gb iPhone 4s. if anyone knows of a fix, please let me know.

If no change after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, more than likely your iPhone has a major hardware problem.
If your iPhone remains under warranty, you can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby. You can make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby regardless if your iPhone remains under warranty for a diagnostic check to be run on your iPhone to determine where the problem lies. There will be no charge for this.

Email and SMS notifications stop working occassion...

I recently updated the firmware on my E71 to the latest. I now have an issue where the email and SMS notifications on the home page periodically disappear. Once the notification icons have disappeared, I need to restart my device in order to get the icons back again. This never happened with the old firmware.
Is this happening to anyone else? Thank you.

Sounds like an software issue..
Perhaps you may wanna try reinstall the firmware on your phone or do the following:
- A soft reset by keying in *#7780# when on standby - This will not delete any data but will restore all the settings back to default.
If that does not help then you may wanna try doing a hard reset by keying in *#7370# when on standby - This will reformat the phone. DO NOT FORGET TO DO A BACK UP AS THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ENTIRE PHONE MEMORY.
The security code by default is 12345

why do I continue to receive notifications, even after I change my preferences? I had about 100 or so today. I switched all of my notification anwers to NO, as in , I don't want to receive any email from apple communities whatsoever. ??? Thanks.

You need to double check that you aren't subscribed to the community, not just to the question you asked. Go to the community that you are receiving the emails from and the same box called "Actions" will appear there just like it does next to the individual question. Make sure that you are not reciveing email notifications for that community. Probably the community where you asked your question. Typically that is what causes people to get 100's of email notifications. I think that this is not included in the tutorial so a lot of people miss it.

Sorry, but I have already tried this too and verified that the web addresses are listed as Allow, rather than Block. After restart there was no difference, I still get the disappearing pop-up windows.

Have you heard of any issues like this occurring based on the number of tabs that are open in Firefox?
Just a thought, even though I have not heard of this as an issue before. I keep about 80 tabs open regularly, because of research that I am always conducting (I am a blogger, a writer/author, a technophile-especially Green Tech.,), email, work, etc.?
I do have a check in the box for Firefox to let me know if the number of open tabs is causing slow down or other issues.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

Start synchronizing, ran fine for a while, stopped again with error with different exact sequence number, repeat again same as step 1.......
how can we stop this and make it run without this error?

This means that your database is out of sync. You can use the continue on data consistency error profile to skip errors. However, Microsoft recommends that you use -SkipErrors parameter cautiously and only when you have a good understanding of the following:
What the error indicates.
Why the error occurs.
Why it is better to skip the error instead of solving it.

check and make sure that an alert style has been choosen for certain alerts, and make sure you check your sounds in settings

When i open reader two AcroRd32.exe*32 processes open and never close even after exiting the reader.

when i open reader two AcroRd32.exe*32 processes open and do not close after closing the reader. i have seen 10 AcroRd31.exe*32 processes open. do I have an undetectable virus or is the software just poorly written and tested. I am running Windows 7 premium that is fully up to date and the reader is up to date also. i have even deleted reader and reinstalled it.
All 8 Processors activity jumps really high while AcroRd.exe*32 is running with no pdf documents open and as soon as i end the processes the processor activity goes down to near 0 according to the performance tab in task manager. My fan also kicks on because of all the heat from the processor.

open acrord32.exe and go to edit, preferences, internet, and then uncheck "Allow fast web view" and "allow speculative downloading in the background". This will save your processor and keep your system from locking up from all of the acrord32.exe processes running.

I tried to reload my Ipod touch. I accidently selected "start new ipod" icon on the Ipod and then "back up existing ipod" on Itunes. Now the Ipod is unresponsive, constantly shutting down and restarting. Even after multiple "forced" shut downs. Help!

After updating the os, I tried to shut down, clear and reload my Ipod touch. Here's where I goofed: at the prompt for starting the reload process, I selected "start as new Ipod" on the Ipod, but in Itunes, I selected " back up existing Ipod from computer" or something like that. Now the ipod is constantly shutting down and restarting and no controls can be accessed. All I can do is the "forced shut down" which I have done multiple times and let sit for a half hour off.

Disregard, hooked up to itunes and clicked on summary, selected restore, all is well.

Q10 SMS Notification failed after update 10.2.1.3062

Hi, I performed a small 31MB update to 10.2.1.3062 on Fido (Rogers). SMS notifications stopped - no LED, audible, Vibrate or spark. Other notifications are fine, performed battery pulls, hub reboots, no luck. SMS shows up in the hub with no notification.

Sad but not surprised to hear of yet more problems with Blackberry software, which is hopeless - the only time I tried to install an update as invited - on the phone - it messed my screen up, which led to my having to have it set back to factory condition. That meant of course that all my 900-odd contacts (I am a TV journalist) were erased. They were of course backed up on my PC - but on restoring my contacts, Link messed them up, putting phone numbers under the wrong name, storing some numbers as many as 5 times, and even deleting whole contact files. Once it also corrupted the backup (I have had to do this 5 times now, because of other faults - notably keyboard failure.) So I uninstalled Link as being dangerous and unstable, and now simply share files one by one (but the system won't share BB10>Outlook Calendar, though it will do Outlook>BB10 Calendar. Bizarre.) The solution is clear: don't touch Blackberry's software with a bargepole - especially as they make no serious offer to help with any problems, unless you pay them - pay them, in other words, for their failures. Roll on my upgrade, and adieu Blackberry. A pity in a way as some parts of the phone (e.g. the browser) seem to work pretty well. The key thing is - don't let the 10 series anywhere near backup data you value.
PS: My BB10 also corrupts contacts internally, but this vandalism seems to be occasional, not wholesale as with Link. Fingers crossed, mind you...

Problem opening mail and SMS in E71

I’ve just recently installed Mail for exchange. It worked great for a day or two.Now I can’t open any messages. My mails and SMSs arrive, I see the subject, put I can’t open them. It is possible for me to delete messages. I can even reply to emails. If choose reply everything works as it should (I can see the received message and are able to write a reply and send the message).So the only way for me right now to read a received mail is to start at reply of it – very irritating.I went to the store where I bought my phone. They first tried to restart (removing the battery) and start again – didn’t work. Next they suggested to update the software, went home and did that – didn’t work.I have tried to reinstall Exchange, but the problem is still there even after that exchange is deleted from my phone.Does somebody have a solution for me? I read one solution to a similar problem here with the subject “E71 email issues”. There a solution was to install new software (Emoze or Profimail). I did not understand that and I don’t understand why there is a need to install new software. Do you really need to install new software to be able to read your mails?Thanks a lot for any help.

IOS4: Texts, mail and cal notifications

I think I found a possible iOS4 bug..I have a one year old 3GS running iOS4. When I get a text message, new mail, or calendar reminder, the music volume dips, the audio reminder (chime) rings and then the music volume comes back up (ok fine no problem there).. but then a few seconds after, the music volume dips a second time - no audio chime this time- and comes back up.
This happens both with the ipod function and when listening to pandora.
Happens on both 3G and wifi.
I did a reset and a full clean restore. Didnt fix it.
Does it both with phone in speaker mode and with headset.
I do not have my text chime to ring twice and even so this problem happens with mail and calendar things too.

You can see if this applies to the Droid 3 as it should be similar because both are Gingerbread. I'm listing the procedure for the Droid X2.
Open Gmail, then hit the menu button (there should be one of those on the Droid 3, too, at the bottom left of the face of the phone. I don't know if it's a hard or soft button).
A set of options will open and select "more", if it's there (I hope it is, otherwise, this post just got really short). You should now be able to select "Settings". This choice should be at the top of the list. Now select your account ([email protected]).
Here is where it gets weird. Pressing your account name should open a page full of options. Scroll all the way down to "Labels to Notify" and press it. A box will open with two choices, Select "Inbox". A box called "Notifications for Inbox" should open.
Whew! From here, you can turn off or on notifications, select a "ringtone", oddly enough and select "vibrate" options.
