Multiple master blocks populating the same detail blocks

Hey guys. Im doing something a little weirder than I usually do but I can't get it to work correctly and im wondering if any of you have accomplished this before.
I have a call center application which processes applications by either the application or by follow up. The application and follow up are each a block by themselves located on a separate pages on a tab canvas. Both these blocks are master blocks to the detail blocks which would be user_phones, user_addresses, user_bank_accounts, etc. The idea is I can use either page of the tabs and flip through either the follow up, or application master block and have it populate the user tables according to the user_id found on the master blocks. I figured I could use a when-new-block-instance trigger to switch off which block fires the on-populate-details trigger.
The problem is.... complicated. If I go to the follow up block and execute query, it brings back the right information on the detail block. The strange thing is it seems like when I move the cursor to a different record on the same block, forms is almost setting a SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY DEFAULT_WHERE action. This is un-noticeable until i go to the other master detail block. When I start using the applications block, it seems like all the detail records actually MATCH the user_id that the cursor was on in the follow up block...
phew! thats a lot of description for such a strange problem..
Anyways. Anyone encountered this before? Has anyone ever built a two master block form to populate the same detail block? Is it possible? I haven't found a thread in the forum about this subject..
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance :)

Having one detail block for two master blocks was never a use case that we considered for Forms. It sounds like you are trying to make a many-to-many relationship work with two master blocks. I suggest you think about having an intermediate block (hidden or not) that drives the detail block and make each master block drive that intermediate block instead of driving the detail block directly.

  • Navigating from two different master pages to the same detail page

    Hi. Im using JDev 11.1.1.1.0 JDEVADF_11.1.1.1.0_GENERIC_090615.0017.5407. Fusion Web Application.
    I have two ViewObjects based on a unique entity Entity1 and each VO has a different set where clause. First, I create a master view page based on VO1 and a detail page based on the same VO1. Navigation is working fine using a link in the PK of selected row and using setCurrentRowWithKey.
    Next, I've created a second master view page based on VO2 and want to enable navigation to the detail page based on VO1. I figured the key is the same (Entity has a one column PK, and the same thing VO1 and VO2) but when I tried navigation with setCurrentRowWithKey or setCurrentRowWithKeyValue doesn't work.
    Can anybody provide steps to achieve this? Is it possible to do?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    You might be using setCurrentRowWithKey method of VO2, if so, try to use setCurrentRowWithKey method of VO1(on which detail page is based)

  • Can't create multiple dependent LOVs from the same bind variable

    Hi all,
    I'm having difficulty creating multiple dependent LOVs from queries based on the same bind variable in my JSF application (JDev 10.1.3.1). Basically I have a static LOV in a af:selectOneChoice component from which users select a value which then becomes the bind variable value for two separate queries that generate two different dependent LOV. Having developed the code along the lines of Steve Muench 's blog (http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/2006/04/03.html#a685), the first dependent LOV works really well. The first dynamic LOV gets refreshed whenever the list from the static LOV changes, and I can execute other queries based on the values selected.
    The problem arises when I want to create the second dynamic/dependent LOV that has the same bind variable based on the same selected value from the static LOV. Here I would also like the functionality whereby the second dynamic LOV is also refreshed after the selected value in the static LOV changes. Thinking that all I had to do was replicate the methodology used in creating the first dependent LOV, I created the second iterator, invokeAction and other binding components in the PageDef. The executable section now looks like the following:
    <iterator id="SelectStaticQueryViewObjIterator"
                  Binds="SelectStaticQueryViewObj" RangeSize="-1"
                  DataControl="DMSApplicationModule1DataControl"/>
    <invokeAction id="refreshDynamicQuery1BindParameter"
                  Binds="ExecuteWithParams1" Refresh="prepareModel"
                  RefreshCondition="#{empty requestScope.VariableChanged}"/>
    <iterator id="SelectDynamicQuery1ViewObjIterator"
                  Binds="SelectDynamicQuery1ViewObj" RangeSize="-1"
                  DataControl="DMSApplicationModule1DataControl"/>
    <invokeAction id="refreshDynamicQuery2BindParameter"
                  Binds="ExecuteWithParams2" Refresh="prepareModel"
                  RefreshCondition="#{empty requestScope.VariableChanged}"/>
    <iterator id="SelectDynamicQuery2ViewObjIterator"
                  Binds="SelectDynamicQuery2ViewObj" RangeSize="-1"
                  DataControl="DMSApplicationModule1DataControl"/>I now have a problem whereby everytime I change the value of the static LOV, multiple HTML components for the same ADF component are being generated (the LOVs are refreshed via PPR). The surprising thing is that this duplicating behaviour applies to all ADF components listed after the first dynamic LOV in the *.jspx source. For example, I have a <af:outputText="Test Text"/> component created after the first dynamic LOV. Each time the value in the static LOV changes, a duplicate HTML component is created. This also applies to the 'related' second dynamic LOV which is bound to a af:selectOneChoice component - multiple dropdown lists are created. I've checked with the browser's Page Source and there are actually multiple html components being generated with their own unique ADF-generated IDs. I've tried all different options for the Referesh and RefreshCondition attibutes in the second invokeAction element but nothing seems to eliminate this issue.
    Any suggestions about how I might create multiple dependent LOVs from the same bind variable that get refreshed when the selected value changes would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    George

    Hi all,
    Just updating the thread on how I've overcome this issue. As it stood the manner in which I was trying to solve my use case, as described above, was creating an absolute mess. Then with a blank sheet of paper I quickly realised that a much simpler solution would be to create a whole series of master-detail VOs and build my components around them. Thankfully I haven't had any issues going down this path as yet.
    Cheers

  • Multiple Threads writing to the same stream and "Write End Dead"

    Hi, I'm wondering what is the proper method for having multiple threads write to the same stream.
    Right now I have PipedWriter that I give to several Threads.
    However the JLS specifies that when the thread writing to PipedWriter dies, an exception will be generated. Does it mean that I may get a "write end dead" exception when any of the threads dies?
    More specifically I'm trying to extract keywords from a set of pages and print out keywords with their contexts (using threads to avoid a single blocked pages from blocking entire process)

    Your topic says "stream" but your post says "writer" - there's a difference. Readers/writers use the native encoding (which is correct if, for example, you're reading .DOC files created in Windows) while streams use UTF-8 encoding (which is correct if you've got one java app talking to another).
    Multiple threads can output to the same source. You've probably seen really annoying examples as your own System.out.println()s get intermixed with other JVM output in the JVM's window. Synchronization is going to be a serious issue.
    As to the exception, why not just catch it and ignore it?

  • Cant login multiple network accounts on the same client?

    Setup:
    I have created a simple Lion Server on a new i7 Mac Mini. I have configured Open Directory in Master mode and have setup 4 user accounts. I have enabled the File Sharing service and checked the "Make available for home directories" option on the "Users" file share. I have configured each of the 4 user accounts to use this location as the home folder. I have connected my client machines (all OSX Lion) to the Network Account Server.
    Problem:
    I can log one user into the client machine, but when using "Fast User Switching" and logging on as the second user I get the following error:
    "You are unable to log in to the user account "guestaccount" at this time. Loggin to the account failed because an error occured"
    In the console if I search for that user account the related error message is:
    11-07-31 12:30:54.993 PM authorizationhost: ERROR | -[HomeDirMounter mountNetworkHomeWithURL:attributes:dirPath:username:] | PremountHomeDirectoryWithAuthentication( url=afp://inntaserver01.local/Users, homedir=/Network/Servers/inntaserver01.local/Users/guestaccount, name=guestaccount ) returned 16
    Any thoughts as to why the Home Folder "mounter" failed in this scenario?

    Historically you have never been allowed to use Fast User Switching to log in multiple network logins on the same client machine. This certainly applied with Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard. I have not yet personally tried this with Lion.
    I believe that the underlying reason for this not being allowed is down to how AFP volumes are mounted. The AFP mount becomes 'owned' by the user that triggers the login. With a network login the first user becomes the owner and this means subsequent attempted network logins are denied access to that share and hence cannot access their home directories.
    With Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard servers, one could configure network home directories to be shared via NFS instead of AFP. NFS gets treated a lot different in terms of mounting, and is done more at a system level than a user level. While again I have not personally tried Fast User Switching with NFS shared home directories, this approach is specifically recommended by the authors of AquaConnect (a Macintosh Terminal Server solution) in order to allow multiple logins on the same Terminal Server. This seems to be for the same underlying reason. Using NFS does certainly work for use with AquaConnect and also works for the competing iRAPP Terminal Server product as well.
    Unfortunately, Lion Server while it can be made to run an NFS server, will not let you configure using NFS for sharing home directories. I have actually reported this as a 'bug' in Lion server.
    Neither the authors of AquaConnect or iRAPP have actually tested this scenario with Lion server yet, but AquaConnect do plan to investigate it. It could make it considerably more difficult to use their products.
    So in summary, using NFS to share network home directories in theory would avoid the problem and can be done with a Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard server, but cannot be done with a Lion server. It is possible however to mix Lion with older server versions. This might for some people be a possible workaround.
    PS. A bonus side-effect of using NFS shared home directories was that this allowed badly written software like Adobe's applications which are otherwise notorious for having major issues with network logins and home directories to work without errors. As an example Adobe Acrobat Pro introduced a bug in version 7.0 which prevented it being able to print-to-PDF (one of the major reasons to buy Acrobat Pro). It tooks two years for them to eventually fix this in Acrobat Pro 8.1 (I know because I spent that two years nagging them to fix it and was a beta tester). Unfortunately they then reintroduced the bug in Acrobat Pro 9.0. Fortunately I discovered this side-effect got round the issue although a clunkier workaround was also possible for Snow Leopard clients by redirecting certain folder paths.

  • How to permit multiple workspaces to access the same schema?

    Hello,
    When creating a new workspace (version 3.2), I am getting the following warnings:
    "Warning: The requested schema already exists. Warning: The requested schema is already assigned to one or more workspaces. Please ensure that giving multiple workspaces access to the same schema is permitted by the security policies at your site before approving this request."
    How do I "ensure that giving multiple workspaces access to the same schema is permitted"?
    What are the advantages/disadvantages of doing so?
    Thanks,
    Gabor

    The correct answer to it would have been: I use manual provisioning.I didn't ask a detailed enough question. What I am wondering is how you are set up to to workspace provisioning at your site. In apex_admin, if you navigate to Home>Manage Service>Instance Settings there is a radio group like:
    Provisioning Status:
    0 Manual - An administrator manually creates each workspace
    0 Request - Link displayed on login page enabling users to request workspaces
    0 Email Verification - Workspace created after email address is verified by the user
    The help text for this is:
    Provisioning Status:
    Determines how the process of provisioning (or creating) a workspace works for your development instance. Options include:
        * Manual - An Application Express administrator manually creates new workspaces and notifies the Workspace administrator of the login information.
        * Request - Users request workspaces directly in a self-service fashion. Selecting this option displays a link on the Login page enabling users to request a workspace. When a user requests a workspace, each request is submitted to a queue for approval.
        * Email Verification - Works similar to Request except each user receives an initial email containing a link. Clicking this link validates the user's email address before the request is processed.
    Note: To enable users to request a workspace using a link on the Login page, you must choose Request or Email Verification. If you select Manual, no link appears on the login page.How is yours set up?
    As to the first original question (How do I "ensure that giving multiple workspaces access to the same schema is permitted"?), I still do not know.Whether it is permitted or not is a decision made by the apex site administrator who approves/declines workspace requests. Whether it ought to be permitted is a different question and is really same as your second question which involves issues you said you are now starting to understand better. So I think we've covered your original questions. If not, please elaborate.
    As to the last subject (How did the hidden workspace get created and how do I get rid of id? What happens if I don't?), this happened at work, so I can only tell you more on Monday (luckily...). Until then, here is what I remember. The work space was created, which is proven by the fact that when I want to create a new workspace with the same name, I am getting an error, which says that a workspace with that name already exists. However, I cannot delete the workspace, since it show up nowhere.No hidden workspace got created. I'm pretty sure the request is just in the queue waiting to be approved/declined. In the meantime a workspace with the same name cannot be requested.
    By the way, how do you quote some text here? I just put a '>' in the first character position before the text to quote. You can also use the " rich text icon above the text pane.

  • Multiple presentation servers using the same RPD

    Hi everyone,
    So as most people know, the iPhone has a cool app that allows you to login and look at your OBIEE content. In theory it's really cool, but as it turns out, a lot of the cool graphs default to Flash and Flash is not supported by the iPhone.
    Using a flag in the instance config file, its possible to default all graphs to png's instead of Flash. But that causes all the interactive drillability to go away since it's just a flat picture.
    It seems that an elegant solution to this issue would be to have two presentation services running; one that defaults to Flash and one that defaults to png's. Then let the OC4J container determine if the device accessing the website is a mobile device or a full client browser. Mobile devices get routed to the png's and non-mobile devices go to the standard Flash page.
    Although not supported by Oracle, it is possible to setup multiple presentation services on the same server. In fact, RNM has a great blog about how to accomplish this (http://rnm1978.wordpress.com/2009/08/25/multiple-rpds-on-one-server-part-1-the-bi-server/).
    I was able to setup two presentation services (AnalyticsWeb and AnalyticsMobile) and point them at the same catalog folder. That way you don't have to duplicate you're work.
    The one thing I couldn't figure out how to do was to point them at the same RPD file. Ideally, we would have one rpd file with the master metadata definitions, and both presentation services would drive from that single RPD. However, the BI Server throws and error of the same RPD appears twice in the NQSConfig.ini file. I also created a shortcut to the master RPD, but upon startup, the BI Servers said that it was not a valid repository file.
    Worst case scenario, I could just use copy & paste to duplicate the single repository. And then each time I updated one, I would just need to delete the other and re-copy. But that seems a little tedious and I was hoping for a more elegant solution.
    Does anyone know how I could get the NQSConfig.ini to let me point to the same RPD twice? Is there some kind of symbolic link or image I could create?
    If it helps, I'm working with OBIEE 10.1.3.4 on a Windows Server 2003 environment with the OC4J standalone container.
    Thanks for the help!
    -Joe

    Hey Everyone,
    Just to add the finishing touch to this thread, the following can be implemented to perform the redirect based on mobile versus traditional PC devices.
    In the folder: C:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\default-web-app
    I created the following OBIEE.html file
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
    <html lang="en,us">
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>Test OBIEE Redirect Page<TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var agent = (navigator.userAgent).toLowerCase();
    var weburl = './analytics/';
    var moburl = './analyticsMobile/';
    var reg_exp = /(ipod|iphone|android|opera mini|blackberry|palm os|palm|hiptop|avantgo|plucker|xiino|blazer|elaine|windows ce; ppc;|windows ce; smartphone;|windows ce; iemobile|up.browser|up.link|mmp|symbian|smartphone|midp|wap|vodafone|o2|pocket|kindle|mobile|pda|psp|treo)/;
    if( reg_exp.test(agent) ) {
         window.location = moburl;
    else {
         window.location = weburl;
    </script>
    </BODY></HTML>
    The javascript gets the USER agent variable and does a regular expression match to see if it's any popular handheld device. If so, it redirects them to the mobile address. Otherwise the user is directed to the standard site.
    All I need to do is pass around the URL:
    http://localhost:9704/OBIEE.html (instead of the standard http://localhost:9704/analytics)
    And users will be dynamically sent to the correct location.
    thanks everyone!

  • Multiple connection pools in the same DB physical source

    Hi, I have this situation in BI Admin:
    A single DB with 2 physical schema and 2 Connection Pools with OCI 10/11g.
    Clicking on any table I can see the data after selecting the right connection pool for that table.
    I created a Business Model based upon tables from one of the 2 physical schemas and a corresponding presentation layer. It is consistent and I can view the related subject area in Answers, but when I select a Dimension column (CONVERGENZA_NEGOZIO.STATO) and the fact measure ( Convergenza_Fact.INCASSO ) in viewing results I get this error:
    Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error Details
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 942, message: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist at OCI call OCIStmtExecute. [nQSError: 17010] SQL statement preparation failed. (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT CONVERGENZA_NEGOZIO.STATO saw_0, Convergenza_Fact.INCASSO saw_1 FROM Convergenza ORDER BY saw_0
    Is it caused by the multiple connection pools under the same DB?

    Yes I think that's correct, but only if you're going to use the same user to connect to them.
    If you have a single user you're using to connect to a database to read data which happens to be over more than one schema, you'd use one connection pool.
    However if you have entirely separate schemas (eg. different applications) and need to use a different user for each then you would use one connection pool per schema. Also if you thought you might move one of the schemas to another physical database at some point in the future it might be prudent to use a separate connection pool from the outset.
    If you're still getting the error that the table cannot be found and your users have full permissions then logically the table that's being looked for does not exist, or you have not qualified it. What I mean by that is if you are connecting as USER2 and SELECT * FROM TABLE_A then the database will assume that you mean USER2.TABLE_A. If you mean USER1.TABLE_A then you need to make sure the qualification is in there.
    In the admin tool check your Physical layer is set up correctly with your Physical Tables residing in the correct Physical Schemas.

  • Contract Importer - Uploading Multiple Contract Documents for the same MA

    Is it possible to upload multiple contract documents against the same master agreement when using the contract importer tool.
    If so, what is the format for specifying the various filenames that represent these documents.
    Thanks,
    Tanmaya

    Hi,
    Yes this is feasible.
    What we had done is uplaoded the MA first and then loaded a separate csv for Attachments. This can then be placed on the desired location and picked up via the attachment importer mapping file. Just FYI, this can be configured in the System properties to import the file into E-Sourcing.
    Hope this is helpful,

  • What happens on iCloud (ex. contacts) when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?

    What happens on iCloud when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?  For example if we all choose to use iCloud for contacts, are they all merged together?  We use the same Apple ID so we can use find my iPhone to keep track of the whole family.

    Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
    You can only unravel this by
    1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
    2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
    3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
    4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
    5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
    6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
    Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.

  • How do I use multiple local workspaces for the same website in VS2013?

    For quite some time I've been using VS2010 with multiple workspaces mapped from the same TFS branch to test different variants of a website in parallel. The internal web server (Cassini) seems quite happy to run multiple versions and simply maps a new port
    number for the second and subsequent instances that start up.
    We are now looking to move to VS2013, so have to use IISExpress since the 'internal' web server is no longer provided.
    How do I configure things so that if I open a single workspace, IISExpress runs against that workspace using the default port number (specified in the solution), but if I open a second instance in a different workspace it correctly uses a new port number
    and working folder. Do I need to invoke IISExpress using the command line (presumably from each workspace) and specify the relevant defaults or is there some way to enter this in the local config file for IISExpress?
    My initial attempt at editing to config file resulted in the 2nd and subsequent instance using the same physicalfolder as the first instance, presumably because the speficied site name and port number are the same!

  • How to load multiple HTML5 canvas on the same page (the proper method)

    Hi,
    I've been struggling to load multiple canvas animations on the same page. At the beggining I thought that exporting the movies with different namespaces and reloading the libraries in a sequential flow might work, but it doesn't. It always loads just the last animation loaded. More info here: Coding challenge: what am I doing wrong?
    Here is a sample of what I'm doing:
    1st: Publish two flash movies with custom namespaces for "lib" set in the "publish settings": "libFirst" and "libSecond".
    2nd: Edit the canvas tags in the HTML page. One called "firstCanvas" and the other one called "secondCanvas"
    3rd: Edit the javascript like this:
            <script>
                // change the default namespace for the CreateJS libraries:
                var createjsFirst = createjsFirst||{};
                var createjs = createjsFirst;

    Could someone please reply with the best practice on how to do this? If possible, without the need to reload all the libraries...
    If I only need to show one flash movie at a time, would it be more efficient to cut & paste the canvas tag using jQuery in the DOM and reloading a different lib on it?
    Many thanks!
    #flash #reborn

    I was able to fix it. At the end, it was easier than I thought. Just have to publish using a different "lib" namespace for each movie, load all the scripts at the end of the <body> and then add the following to the onload or ready events:
    $(document).ready(function () {
            var canvas, stage, exportRoot;
            // First movie
            canvas = document.getElementById("firstCanvas");
            exportRoot = new libFirst.first();
            stage = new createjs.Stage(canvas);
            stage.addChild(exportRoot);
            stage.update();
            createjs.Ticker.setFPS(libFirst.properties.fps);
            createjs.Ticker.addEventListener("tick", stage);
            // Second movie
            canvas = document.getElementById("secondCanvas");
            exportRoot = new libSecond.second();
            stage = new createjs.Stage(canvas);
            stage.addChild(exportRoot);
            stage.update();
            createjs.Ticker.setFPS(libSecond.properties.fps);
            createjs.Ticker.addEventListener("tick", stage);
            // Third movie
            canvas = dument.getElementById("thirdCanvas");
            exportRoot = new libThird.third();
            stage = new createjs.Stage(canvas);
            stage.addChild(exportRoot);
            stage.update();
            createjs.Ticker.setFPS(libThird.properties.fps);
            createjs.Ticker.addEventListener("tick", stage);
