Multiple mic inputs

Hi, I would like to be able to record a vocal quartet using four mics recording simultaneously to four independant GB tracks. Apart from four microphones what else will I need i.e.interface/mixer with an early G5 iMac and can anyone make recommendations with a £200/$400 budget?
Thanks in advance.
G5 iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

The alesis io 14 is new but looks like it will be a good interface at a great price. Problem is this is new and there is a big demand for them, so not sure about availability. I use a alesis multimix firewire. they'er in your price range and have a minimum of 4 preamped XLRs.
I'm sure someone else can make some suggestions, also check online music supply stores.

  • Keyboard? Multiple Midi Inputs? CAD U1 Mic?

    Hello (and, HangTime, if you're there, will really appreciate your answer)
    Three questions:
    1. MBPro with Yamaha E403keyboard -- GB11 records notes played with piano function but does not record background drumbeat from keyboard. Suggestions to get the background also? (Have already installed latest midi driver from Yamaha.)
    2. If I acquire an external Mic can GB accept input from it at the same time as the keyboard? (Have multiple USB inputs available on MBPro.)
    3. Any feedback on the CAD U1 Mic? Amazon has it at attractive price for a total novice.
    Thanks.
    (Note -- erroneously posted in GB3 originally.)

    i don't think i've seen anyone post about using that, but it'll probably work good enough if you're not looking for pro quality.
    and to the question in your subjectline:
    Multiple Midi Inputs?
    you can plug in multiple MIDI devices, but you can only record to a single track as noted in the link above.

  • Usb 6009 multiple analog inputs

    I am currently attempting to sample two different analog inputs at different sampling rates using a USB 6009.  I keep getting the 'resource reserved' error and am wondering if this is not possible using this DAQ.  Questions:
    1.  Does creating two analog input channels on the device cause this error?
    2.  Is it possible to sample at different rates on channels created in the same task?  (i am trying to 'slow down' the second analog input to display switch points to a customer)
    3.  Running multiple analog inputs using independent timing would be better achieved by switching to a higher end DAQ?  If so which would you recommend?
    I have attached my vi.  Thank you in advance for your help.
    I surf therefore I am....

    The DAQ boards only have 1 timing clock for the analog inputs/outputs.  So you can only have 1 sample rate on a given card.  I would recommend just sampling at the highest of the desired rates in a single task.

  • Synchronizing two counter frequency inputs with multiple analog inputs

    Hello all,
    I'm fairly new to LabVIEW and I'm trying to collect data from multiple sources with synchronized timing on the acquisition but I'm having trouble figuring it out. My problem is that I've got two counter frequency inputs, one optical tachometer reading one pulse per revolution, and a max machinery flow meter with a k factor of 12000. I can't seem to figure out how to sync the timing with my multiple analog inputs. I've been attempting to get the tachometer  to sync with the analog inputs first by following the example linked here. (https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-10785) So far each time I run it I either get a timeout error on the DAQmx read or a "Multiple sample clock pulses were detected" error (see attached image).  It seems if I slow the sampling rate way down to say 10 hz and ensure that the tachometer signal is over 800-1000 RPM (13-17 Hz) before starting the VI then the program will run without errors until the RPM drops below that threshold then the "Multiple sample clock pulses" error occurs.  The code is attached below.
    Does anyone know of a more effective way of syncing counter frequency inputs with analog inputs?  I'd like to have a VI that can show 0 RPM (and eventually 0 flow as well, but I think I need to figure out the timing of one counter before I add another as it seems I can't have two counters in the same task). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Maybe third times the charm?
    So I've finally got a good handle on why the VI is having problems at low RPM though I'm somewhat embarassed how long it took me to do that
    Because I have the counter time synced to my Analog input task if it doesn't see at least two pulses between the two clock pulses set by the analog input task I get the -201314 "Multiple sample clock pulses" error. This seems fine at first as it just sets a minimum RPM that I can measure and it's well below the area I'm interested in so no problems there.  I tried a simple error handler that would clear the error when it happend assuming the loop would keep iterating until the RPM went above that minimum at which point I would get a signal again. This is not the case, the read function just continues to spit out the -201314 error even after the RPM is back in the readable range. So then I tried adding two case structures so that when the error occured it would stop the task, clear the error, and then start the task again on the next loop iteration (Code Attached). This also doesn't work as the error shows up again on the stop task and then AGAIN on the start task on the next loop iteration. It seems this error is not actually being cleared and once it happens it stays with the task regardless of what the error cluster is carrying.
    Anyone have any ideas?  The only solution I can think of is to just clear all tasks and recreate them each loop iteration until the RPM is readable again but that strikes me as a horribly clunky solution.

  • Mic input sound port not working.....

    Any thoughts?

    Hi. Well - it's not actually a mic input port, it's line level.
    The signal level from simple microphones is often too low for the the 'line' level analogue audio-in port on the G5.
    The solution is to use either a self-powered microphone, a pre-amplifier or, possibly the most useful and flexible (and most popular) - a USB audio interface such as the 'iMic'

  • Multiple MIDI Inputs Yet???

    Can anyone tell me if LP8 offers multiple MIDI inputs? I use the step sequencer from my Elektron Monomachine for pattern creation and would like to be able to assign the external tracks from it to instrument tracks hosting either native or 3rd party plug-ins. Untill I can assign MIDI to Logic Instruments and third party AU Instruments from multiple channels, I am forced to use another app (Ableton Live at present) for song creation and only use logic for post production of said track. Would much rather keep it all in one app from creation to stage performance!!!

    I have found an answer to my problem. In the following link I found this post that allowed me to play multiple instruments from an external step sequencer. I have been trying to figure this one out for ever and just kept giving up with the environment. Now I can finally use logic the way I always wanted to!!!
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1078171&tstart=30
    Here is the post...replace "MIDI Keyboard" with "Sequencer Track" and you can see how this worked for me...
    This method assumes that One MIDI Keyboard is sending on MIDI channel 1 and the other is sending on MIDI channel 2.
    In the Environment, go to the "Clicks and Ports" Layer. My MIDI "signal" path is:
    Physical Input-->Input Note (a keyboard)-->Input View (Monitor Object)-->
    "to Recording and Thru"
    (See p. 207 of the LPReference for more on the "The MIDI Signal Path")
    What I would suggest is this:
    Create a "Channel Splitter" object from the "New" menu. Then cable the MIDI output of the Input Note (the Keyboard object) to the Channel Splitter. This is a second MIDI output cable from the Keyboard, make sure the keyboard object remains connected to the Input View (monitor object).
    Now create two "Alias" objects. In the Alias' Parameters box, set the "Reference" box to the Audio Instrument you want to hear when you play the MIDI channel 1 keyboard. (There are other ways to do this without alias objects as well.)
    Now cable the MIDI channel 1 output of the Channel Splitter (second from the top) to the Alias of Audio Instrument (the one to be heard when playing the Keyboard on MIDI channel 1).
    Create a second Alias, set its Reference to the second Audio Instrument and cable the Channel Splitter's MIDI channel 2 output to the Alias.
    Now go the Arrange. Create a new track and Assign its output (click-hold on the name of the track) and select the "Input Notes" object (mine was under the "Clicks and Ports" submenu). Now when you've got the Input Notes track selected in the Arrange, the MIDI notes will be sent to the Audio Instruments based on MIDI Channel. You can record the notes on the Input Notes track. Later, you can "Demix" the notes and put the Demixed regions onto the tracks of the appropriate Audio Instrument.
    End Post
    For now I am using only one port on my AMT8 for input, the next step will be to try multiple port / multiple sequencer input scheme and see how that setup works...
    Hope this is helpful to someone

  • Signal (buzz) from mic input on Nokia N8

    Hi, I'd like to record audio from the sound mixer to my Nokia N8.
    So I bought reducer from 4pin to 2x 3pin 3.5mm jack (speakers + mic)
    But when I connected the mix output (Main 6.3 Jack L) to the phone's mic input,
    it began to buzz from loudspeaker connected to Main XLR L (these outputs on the mix are probably linked)
    When I started to record or turned the music on, buzzing disappeared
    So I thing it's system controlled signal for control buttons on headset
    I need to have disabled it all the time while the phone is connected to the mix
    Is there any way to disable it?

    There's already several long threads on this forum where people are voicing their requests. You would have a better chance of being noticed if you searched and added your comments to one of the existing threads.

  • Best way to clear multiple textbox inputs?

    In an app with multiple textbox inputs, is there a way to iterate through all controls which are textboxes in order to clear their text inputs by using a loop? I could write multiple "mytextbox.clear()" statements, but I was wondering if there is a better way.
    That is, as a more general question, does JavaFX have a way to loop through similar controls so that batch functions can be performed on them?

    I was speaking about these methods without keeping a reference to the Textboxs, like in full declarative syntax.
    Stage {
        def tbIds = for(n in [0..<10]) "TextBox{n}";
        var vbox: VBox;

                                            def tb = vbox.scene.lookup(id) as TextBox;

  • Time synchronization problem with "niUSRP EX Rx Multiple Synchronized Inputs.v i " ??

    Hello,
    I used "niUSRP EX Rx Multiple Synchronized Inputs.vi "( offred by NI) to synchronize 2 USRP in reception (the master connected to laptop via Ethernet and the slave connected to the master via MIMO cable).
    I set: master--> RefIn and PpsIn     slave-->Mimo and Mimo.
    Problem: Inspite I used identical cables that connect the both devices to the transmitter; the signal received by the master and the signal received by the slave ar'nt synchronized in time because the time lag (delay) is not constant!!!.
    Where is the problem?!!
    Thank you

    Hi,
    I used:
    transmitter--> Rohde & Shwartz SM300 signal generator.
    Receivers-->  2 x USRP N200 (connected with MIMO cable)  master--> RefIn and PpsIn     slave-->Mimo and Mimo.
    3 identical cables to transmit the signal, connected via Power Splitter/Combiner (Mini-Circuits).
    Cable 10MHz connects the master device with the transmitter.
     FreqTx=700MHz  (sin)           CarrierFreqRx=701MHz  --------> so the received signals are a sin of 1MHz (701-700=1MHz).
    I have no probleme with phase synchronisation (because both the slave and the master received a sin of 1MHz).
    My problem is the time synchronization:
    How can I verify if i did the  time synchronization?
    I must have 2 superposed sin [(ch0 I with ch1 I) (ch0 Q with ch1Q)] ?
    I must do Timed commands? if yes! How to do it?
    I try to run the example of constellation, then i have message: Find VI Named".........Vi"    I have this problem all the time when I run some examples . I have probleme with setup LabView?!

  • Adobe Audition with M-Audio Fast Track Pro mic input

    I must be missing a setting somewhere.  I have two mics going into the M-Audio Fast Track Pro (XLR inputs).  Mic 1 works fine but no input from Mic 2 although I have audio coming through my headsets when speaking into Mic 2 - it just doesn't register in Adobe Audition.  I have switched mics and cables and all are fine.  The issue is with Mic 2.
    Again, Mic 1 is working fine and Mic 2 is picking up audio and feeding to my headphones but not to Adobe Audition.  I have all the latest drivers installed.
    I am on a Win7 (32bit) system.  Microphones are Shure PG-42's (phantom powered condenser microphones).
    I contacted M-Audio support and phone-verified that all Fast Track Pro settings were proper.  Seems to be a setting or driver issue in Audition.  I've spent hours trouble-shooting to no avail.  In the meantime, I'm using a Y-splitter running both mics into Mic Input 1 on the Fast Track Pro which works fine but I really need seperate control over each microphone.  I have interviews coming up soon and would like to find a resolution quickly.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!

    Archie!  Good stuff!  I'm almost there...
    I've got my Adobe Audition set up with the settings you gave me - everything is armed and good-to-go... but then...
    When I hit record Tracks one and two look like they're recording but there is no level (no audio) going into the tracks.
    If I go back to the Edit view and try to record the entire fills with green as if I'm filling it 100% with sound.  This has never happened before.
    I suspect I've got something hosed-up in my "Audio Hardware Setup" under the Edit section.
    My selections for Audio Driver Setup are:
    1)  M-Audio USB ASIO
    2)  ASIOforALLv2
    3)  Audition 3.0 Windows Sound
    If you could give me some direction as to the settings in "Audio Harware Setup" I feel I've almost got it.
    Thanks!

  • Audigy SE - mic input suddenly stopped working

    .Audigy SE - mic input suddenly stopped working6 I use a Creative Audigy SE sound card and it has worked fine since the day I bought it until recently the mic input stopped working.
    Fair enough, I tested with spare headset in case headset was faulty. No workie. I tested headset in laptop - workie.
    So I bought a replacement card, no workie. I get sound out, but cannot get a signal on my mic when connected.
    I have troubleshooted this extensi'vely (checking the settings in the creative panel, windows control panel, the mics mute switch is not on) and have run out of leads.
    edit: i have also updated drivers and tried a different pci slot.
    Message Edited by rdegan on 07-4-2009 0:47 [email protected]

    So after my mic input stopped working on my Soundblaster Audigy, I have done the following troubleshooting:
    - checked headset works in another computer;
    - bought a brand new sound card;
    - checked all driver settings for an accidental mute;
    - updated sound card drivers;
    - ensured on-board audio is disabled;
    - formatted windows XP;
    - Run XP control pan audio diagnostics.
    Still I cannot get sound on my Mic input. My sound output to headphoes is fine. Can anyone offer any other trouble shooting?

  • Can i use a usb mic input for livestreaming

    I'm trying to livestream but theres no mic input on my iMac so could i use a usb-to-mic input for iMac. Thanks

    You can use a mic with an 1/8th inch jack in the headphones port. You can also use one of those mics into a 1/8th to USB connector. You can also use a USB mic directly into the USB port.

  • Audigy SE - Mic input too

    Hi,
    st post...
    Just bought as above to take some processing away from my NForce2 chipset mobo which worked well.
    Problem I have is I can't seem to boost the mic input anywhere near where I could on my NF2. I have googled and it seems I am not the only one... Anyone found a way of increasing the input by either driver or 3rd party tool ?
    One other thing, I can't find any other drivers than those that came with the card is that correct ?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    In the Creative Mixer, do you have a red "+" above microphone? If so, try that. Or in the Windows mixer, if you have an Advanced button for microphone, see if that has a 20dB boost option. If you don't have that option, a microphone amp might solve the problem even if your mic impedance is high. But I'd say first try a mic with known low impedance to see if that is the problem.Message Edited by Katman on 04-9-2006 :07 AM

  • Turn mic input into another speaker output on G60-235DX?

    On other computers I have had, I could turn the mic input into a second headphone/speaker jack but I do not know how to do it with this laptop and I'm new to Vista as well. On page 5 of the Notebook Tour User Guide located here it says "This table describes factory settings. For information about changing factory settings, refer to the user guides located in Help and Support." but I just do not know what "Help and Support" it is referring to exactly. When I am on the G60-235DX page and I click a link in the "Support for this product" box in the lower right, I can never seem to chase down any info on this subject. I have periodically done a search and then given up and now I realize I am just not going to be able to do it without bothering someone else for the answer. Thanks for any help!

    See my answer to the other thread you opened. When you do that, you have a double conversion (first D/A, then A/D - though I don't know what actually happens when you use a capturing software like AudioHijack), you might create a hum etc.

  • Playing sound from the mic input

    I'm running my turntable through a mixer and then running the line level signal into the mic input on my macbook. It sounds fine when I record the sound, but I can't seem to get it to play sound live.
    I used to do this on my pc by Muting and un-Muting the mic or line-in input, but on the macbook this doesn't seem to work.
    What am I doing wrong?

    I guess I should add that the mixer is showing normal volume levels and when I run Audacity, the volume levels are normal. I just want to convert my input from "recording only" to playback.
