Multiple monitors - how to define which monitor files open on

I work on a Mac with three monitors. My primary monitor is in the middle. I often will drag images to one of the side monitors where they'll stay open while I'm working on other images. But photoshop will open the next image I choose on the side monitors where I've got images open.
I want all new images to open on my primary monitor, always. Is there a way to define which monitor images will open on?

Photoshop will open an image on the last monitor an image was on. If I open an image and drag it to one of my side monitors, then open a new image, it will open on the same monitor where the other image is sitting. If I open an image and move it to a side monitor, then close it on that monitor, the next image will open on that monitor.
So I think your answer is not correct. PS always opens the image on the last monitor where an image resided.
Repro:
Have two monitors, A and B.
Open an image. It will open on A. Drag the image to monitor B.
Open a second image by double clicking an image in a finder window. It will now open on B.
Close images on Monitor B
double click a new image to open it. It will open on B.
Now take that image and drag it back to A. Close it.
Double click and image to open a new image in PS. It will now open on A.
Result:
Photoshop remembers the last monitor where an image was open, and will open subsequent images on that monitor, even if that monitor is no longer present. For example, if you open an image on your main monitor, then drag it to a projector window, then close the window. then turn off the projector. All new images you open will be on the projector, even if it's turned off. The only way to use PS again is to turn the projector back on, drag the images back to the monitor you want to use, then close them from there.
NB: To test your theory, I opened an image in Preview on monitor A, then dragged it to monitor B. Opened next image, and it opens on A. PS behaves differently than the system. This has always been the behavior of PS, from many version back, so this isn't specific to PS6, but it would be nice to be able to change or affect that behavior.

Trying to achieve this feature,
Using DOS command to automatic my deployment process--glad I found dtutil. However, it doesnt give you any chance to identify which configuration file to be used by SSIS packages after deployment.
Deployment Method: file deployment
Configuration sued: XML file and SQL Table. IN XML file, it tells which DB connection for packages to look up the configuration table.
Who can share some thoughts on this?

It is NOT about sequence.
It is about how to point which configuration file to be used by deployed packages as during the "dtutil.exe"
deployment, you dont have chance to identify which physical location confg files to be used.

That you do only at the time of execution of packages. By default it uses configuration settings created at design time within the package. If you want to override it, you can use \Configfile switch of dtexec for that. You can also set explicit values for
properties using /SET switch

How do I choose which programme files open in?

Before I upgraded to Snow Leopard I could double clic on an image in Quark and it would open in the programme that created it (eg photoshop or illustrator) in order to amend or change.
Now when I do that everything opens in Preview - how do I choose which programme files open in?

You can right click on a file icon to open a contextual menu to pick an "open with" option.
You can change the default open with app via the Get Info window in Finder. It also has a "change all" option that will open all of the same file extensions using the app of your choice.

2.another is how to load pdf file from memory?
if i can enable plugin before file opened,and than i can read the file and decrypt it,and now i want to do is do load the decrypt file (in memory) into the adobe?

The proper way to handle other file formats (even where it is really a PDF that has been "wrapped") is to create an AVConversionHandler.
To load a PDF from a source other than the file system, you need to create a custom AVFileSys.

How to identify which trace file is your backup controlfile trace in udump

I have a 10.2.0.3 database on unix.
I want to setup a job to run a script every night to backup the controlfile as text format.
such as "alter database backup controlfile to trace".
How my script can identify which trace file is the one just created for backup controlfile and copy the file to a backup disk?

I thought it's
alter database backup controlfile to trace as 'absolute path of any file where you want the control file in clear text format ';
for ex. in Windows..
alter database backup controlfile to trace as *'c:\temp\create_ORCL_control.sql'*;
This way you will know where your job is going to backup controlfile to trace

How to control which Configuration File a package Opens with in MS Visual Studio 2008 ?

When running our jobs, I know which Configuration File is being used, as it's specified in the path.
But when opening SSIS Jobs in MS Visual Studio, lets say there is four different Config files.
How do you control which one is used when you are working with the job in Visual Studio?
For example in the above screen, you can 'Add' or 'Edit' or 'Remove' Configurations but you can seem to say
"Reload this package with x Configuration", or "Select this particular one at the moment" for instance?

The configuration file mentioned last in the above screen is the one loaded last and the values of this file are applied. You can specify the sequence of the file with the arrow buttons on the right in case if you want a different config file to be loaded
in development and then change them back when you are deploying the package as a job.

Hi Rick,
I think what you are referring to is the "Save Migration Definition" button in LCM within the Shared Services web.
Basically, any thing that you do within Shared Services LCM utility (GUI) can be saved to .xml file for reusing the migration properties another time.

Oracle 10g Multiple home- how to know which is current home?

Hi,
I've installed Oracle 10g database on a system (Windows XP) and have 2 oracle homes on that machine. How do I know which is the current home? I am not able to see the 'Home selector' in Programs menu after installation.
What is the way to find out which is the current home? Also I would like to know how to find out which is the last home that was installed. I am not able to get this information from registry also.
Please help.

I created the first home with name ora10g_Home1 and second home with name ora10g_Home2. In the windows registry, this is listed as
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_ora10g_Home1 and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_ora10g_Home2 respectively.
How to find which is the current home? Is it always the first entry in the registry? But the entries in registry are arranged alphabetically in ascending order and it need not be the order in which the homes where created.
Is there any other way of finding what is the current home when multiple homes are there, in case of Oracle 10g?

I think we can't assign logical database to FM or FG. Because there isn't any option to put the logical database in the FM or FG's attributes.
You must have to create a executable report to have the LDB in use.

I can't open a file on Pages'09 4.1 I get window that says "The required index.xml file is missing." How do I get this file open?

I have a file that I havel been adding to for years. I opened it a week ago but today I tried and I got the window message
"the required index.xml file is missing" How do I get this to open?
I have Pages '09 4.1 Not sure when that was put on or updated.

Are you sure you haven't upgraded Pages on your Mac to Pages 5?
Check your Applications folder and the Applications/iWork folder. You may have 2 versions on your Mac.

How to define default apps to open email attachments

Whenever I open an email attachment the IOS email client open a quick visualizar. I would like to define an app to open the attachment. For example, the visualizer is not able to open Zip files. I have to touch and hold in order to select the app I should use to open the attachment. I would like to define the app that could be opened with typical files.

You can't define a particular app to use to open a file. Any app that will work with the file type that you want to open will appear in the Open In window.

How can I change the File-- Open menu item?

In Bridge CS4, I want an option to open a selected JPEG photo in Photoshop CS4, which I believe would be the File-->Open command. However, in that menu item I only have the option of selecting ACDSee Pro to open a file with.
Is there a way to change this menu item so that I can select Photoshop CS4 to open a JPEG with?

Thanks John. Go into the Windows Folder options and associating CS4 with JPEG fixed the problem. In fact, when I do File-->Open now in Bridge CS4, all of my photo editors appear on the list.

How to Fix This? Files open by default at smallest percentage

Never had this issue in previous versions of Photoshop. Just upgraded to CS6 and played with a few of the Preferences.
For some reason, all files open at the smallest percentage possible (as small as <1%). Anyone know how to set a default open size, or if I managed to check a box that made this happen? It's really annoying to zoom in on every document that I open.

No doubt you're on a Mac and have sized the bottom of the application Frame up as high as it will go, to try to emulate the way it looked in the last version you had.
Try making the window tall again, then eliminating the Application Frame the proper way, by choosing Windows - Application Frame (i.e., uncheck it).
That should fix it for you.

How do I keep a file open and am able to look at all the pictures in the file?

I want to oepn a file with 24 picturees for example. I want to keep that file open so that I can see all 24. Then I can work on 1 picture or another. Now each time i finish with a picture and save it if I then open another pciture it overlays the other. I was able to do the above in my earlier version of photoshop.

Editor preferences>general, and turn on Allow Floating Documents. Then Window>Images>float all in windows.

Adobe Illustrator is not, repeat not, repeat once again not a general purpose PDF file editor. The only PDF files that Adobe Illustrator can safely edit are PDF files saved from Adobe Illustrator using the “save for editability” option. Otherwise, you risk font substitutions, color space changes (Illustrator only supports one color space at a time), color changes, and either lost or transformed graphic objects.
Plus, regardless of whether fonts are embedded in the PDF file, Illustrator requires the actual font to be installed on the system Illustrator is running on. It never attempts to use the any fonts embedded in the PDF file.
We speak from experience on this subject. One of the greatest sources of prepress problems that we hear about here at Adobe can be traced to prepress personnel who try to “fix things” in any old PDF file by opening the PDF file in Illustrator and resaving, even if they make no explicit changes.
Our original advice stands. There is no need for such outlining of text for CTP RIP operations. The only case where we have heard of such a requirement where there was some validity to the request were in situations where a sign cutting machine that could only accept vector commands was being driven by a retrograde RIP that wasn't intelligent enough to derive the vectors from the font definitions in the PDF file. CTP is certainly not that same type of situation! Most often, such so-called requirements for outlining text comes from uninformed prepress personnel relying on advice from even more poorly informed co-workers (I dare not call them professionals).
