Multiple music Directories?

Hi,
I'm trying to move a bunch of iTunes music, plus more music I've collected, to a new laptop. So far iTunes isn't finding everything.
1) Is there a way for iTunes to manage more than one music directory?
2) Is there any simple way to have iTunes move additional music currently in other directories into the iTunes directory?
Here's what happened. I used to keep my music on an external hard drive. This wasn't a problem until one day I noticed the drive wasn't plugged in and iTunes had created a new iTunes directory on the computer itself. On that machine iTunes seemed to see both directories and everything worked, but storage was a bit ugly.
I've now moved both directories to the laptop. One is iTunes and the other I've called 'MoreiTunes'. I'd like to combine the two into a single directory. Can iTunes do this for me?
The second part of this is about 'other mp3' that I have in an mp3 directory. Can they be added to iTunes somehow.
Thanks,
Mark

The best way to move an iTunes library is to first consolidate the files into a single iTunes folder (using the LIbrary Consolidate command), and then copy across the entire iTunes folder. This brings across all the content as well as all library information like play counts, play lists and ratings, without losing anything.
The multiple directory arrangement thing that you have will work OK...  until the day you have to move to a new computer.
Regarding your separate MP3 folder:  Go to Edit > preferences > Advanced, and check the box for "Copy files..."  Then, go to File > Add Folder to Library and point it to your MP3 folder.

  • Multiple Music Libraries on One iDevice

I currently use iTunes to manage my music on my iMac and Macbook. I have my Electronic Music seperated into its own library for various reasons. As a DJ it's way easier to manage that way rather than having to dig through Led Zeppelin and The Beatles and all my other regular music.
To do this I use the "hold Option button while opening iTunes" which allows me to choose what library I'm trying to access.
What I want is to be able to sync these multiple music libraries onto my iPhone AND KEEP THEM SEPERATE.
I really don't want to have to merge them together to get all of the music onto my iPhone. It's much more conveinient for them to be seperated. Right now I sync my electronic music to my iPod and my 'regular' music to my iPhone, but it's sort of redudant to be carrying around two devices when this is literally just a software patch away from iTunes being able to do it. (Wake up Apple)
So I guess what I'm asking is if there are any thrid party apps that allow one to do this.

If you use manual syncing, you can sync items from more than one iTunes library to your iPod. (You can sync iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad with only one iTunes library.) When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12113 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
As for multiple libraries you can put in a request to Apple but I would not wait for it.  (Hint: the big media companies do not want people syncing all their buddies' libraries to each others iPods, and who controls distribution of media to the company that designs iTunes?)

  • How to delete multiple music tracks

how to delete multiple music tracks?

I think rendering the audio has to do with the way I import to FCE. This is how I bring video into FCE because it seems to be the only way I can get it to work. I run my video camera through a digital coverter which runs a firewire into my Mac. I then import the video into imovie. After that is done, I do a drag and drop of the imovie into FCE. I have to render the audio because it just beeps if I don't when I play it back in FCE. I tried using the video capture in FCE but it keeps telling me it is unable to capture (my gues is the cameras are too old and the digital converter in not compatable with FCE or Mac). So once the video and audio footage is in FCE, if I click the green button on the left hand side, my rendered audio becomes a red line. However, I can click the same button on the upper video portion, and it drops the video out so I can see video clips on the lower levels and not just the first one on top. So that's why I render the audio. I can see all twelve audio tracks already. Tom- would making the change you suggest still help? Great book by the way also.

  • Multiple corporate Directories on a single Callmanager cluster

    Hi,
I just want to ask if it is possible to setup and use multiple corporate directories on an IP phone. We are using CUCM 8.6 and 6945 IP Phones. We would like to setup telephony services for different companies on a single cucm cluster and want the users with their IP Phones to only see and use their own Corporate Directoy.
If this is possible, can someone explain how?
I only know that there is the directory URL in Enterprise Services Setup in CUCM. But this points to have just one diretory, right?
    Thanks
    René

You need to build your own custom directories and host them on an external web server, then register them as ip phone services in CUCM, and subscribe the phones you want to use them.

  • Can an SCCM 2012 instance handle multiple Active Directories?

    Hi All,
    Historically (SCCM 2007 or
    earlier version), each active directory
domain has need an SCCM instance. Has that changed/improved in SCCM 2012 so that each instance can handle multiple Active Directories?

  • Change music directories without destroying playlists?

I store most of my music on an external hard drive under a Music directory with many sub-directories.
I do not use the iTunes option to store all of my music in the iTunes Music folder.
Anyway, I want to reorganize my music directories on my hard drive, since they're kind of a mess, but I don't want to destroy all my playlists.
Is there some way to move my music files on my computer to different directories of my choosing without losing my playlists?
If it's impossible to automatically redirect the playlists to the new location, is there at least a way to save the lists of songs themselves in iTunes, even if the original files they point to have been removed? Because I know that songs normally disappear from playlists as soon as the original entry in the music library is deleted.
Thank you in advance for any help. It will be a relief when I can finally begin to reorganize my music.

It is impossible to redirect a playlist, but the library entries for those songs will not disappear on their own. The entries will remain but with a "!" beside them when you try to play them. ITunes will ask if you want to locate the file, and then you can point it to the new location. Sadly, you must do this for every single "!" entry in the library. But at least your playlists will be preserved.
    > Because I know that songs normally

entry in the music library is deleted.
This is a different matter. Moving your files won't cause the playlist entries to disappear, but deleting the library entry certainly will. If you're thinking about clearing your library, moving your files, and then adding them back to the library as a way to avoid the "!" hassle, then you can print out your playlists first. There's a File > Print command, of course, or you could select an entire playlist (ctrl-A), copy it (ctrl-C), open up a spreadsheet or word processor, and paste it (ctrl-V).

  • Slideshow multiple music tracks

Does anyone know how to fit multiple music tracks to a slideshow?  I can only seem to put one track.

Only one track per slideshow is currently possible.

One workaround is to record multiple tracks to a single audio file (e.g. using Adobe Audition) then add that as a single file to your slideshow.

    Re: Multiple Source Folders?

  • Is it necesssary to have 2 music directories with iTune/ipod?

Is there a better way to keep all music in 1 directory? When I setup iTunes, I end up with two music directories, my original music directory plus a duplicate directory in the iTune directory which is imbedded in the music directory.
There must be a better way than trying to keep to music directies current. What am I doing wrong or what can I change to make it simpler?

By default iTunes copies files to the iTunes music folder when adding files to iTunes. The original files can be deleted. iTunes is using the copy in the iTunes folder. It can be useful if you rip files using a program other than iTunes. When ripping with other programs the files go to a temp folder. Then iTunes I add the files to the library, then the files in temp folder are deleted.

  • ZEN VISION:M Multiple Artist Directories/Album Art Issues/e

I recently bought a Zen Vision:M (got talked out of the IPod) and for the most part I'm very happy with it. However these two small issues are so irritating that they make me want to get rid of it.
Firstly a few artists on my player have multiple directories/folders. Some have two, some have as many as fi've. I am extremely particular about my music so I know that they are properly tagged and the artist name matches exactly. It only does this with when I add media with the zen media explorer, however if I use any other program to add files, such as windows media (don't tell anyone that I used that terrible excuse for a media player!) or MusicMatch (my preferred choice), my album art won't display. I find this interesting, and extremely irritating, considering I used MusicMatch to tag the art to the files). I can only get the art to display using the zen media explorer.
Also is there a way to have the zen organize tracks by name and not into album directories? I refuse to believe that I am the only one who listens to my music by track title as opposed to album title, otherwise I'd just pop the cd in!!! And what is the deal with playing one track plays the whole album? I have to add track to playlist just so it doesn't throw all the songs in there.

Windows Media Player does not write the album art to the ID3 tag of the mp3 file. It keeps the image file separated from the mp3 and makes a link to it.
You need something that can write the image file to the mp3 file itself. Zen Explorer can do this.
As for the multiple artist names showing up. I've never seen that before, and I feel like I need more details. Do the Artist names show up under the Artist Catagory view or the Album catagory view? And I misundertood if you were trying to say this only happens when you transfer music using the Zen Explorer and not Media Playper or MusicMatch since you changed subjects midway through the sentence.
But in a general sense, this would happen if you are spelling the two directories differently. Like for example Tom Jones, Tom Jone, or ( )Tom Jones. the ( ) means theres a space in front of the T. Those would all show up under different album names.Message Edited by TimT on 07-0-2006 2:04 PM

  • How do i add EQ to multiple music tracks

in an effort to make my touch's battery life last longer i read the tips and 1 was to turn off eq on the touch and add eq to the tracks from itunes but i can only do 1 at a time which is very slow. how do i add eq to multiple tracks??
im talking like 700 music tracks 1 by 1 isnt an option

You should be able to select the top track in a list and then hold down the shift key and click on the bottome of the list. Or you could use select all from the edit menu to select all the tracks in a play list/library.

  • Multiple Archive directories in Sender file channel

    Hi Experts,
My requirment is to have multipple archive direcotories in Sender file channel.
We have multiple source dirs  e.g.
    c:/abc/
    c:/bcd/
    c:/cde/
and we want to archive the files from these source dirs to corresponding archive directories e.g.
    c:/abc/archive
    c:/bcd/archive
    c:/cde/archive
I can see that we can have only 1 archive directory when the processing mode is kept as  "Archive"
How can we achive the same , Please help
    Thanks in Advance,
    Jyoti

    Hello,
I guess you don't have option to archive files in different directories using single CC.
You can archive the files in 1 directory and then run a OS script, which will place the files in different directories (using NFS as protocol).

  • Retrive files from multiple source directories

    Hi,
I need to retrive diffirent formet files from multiple directories and based on file name I need to send it to destination folders. Can anybody suggest me How can I impliment this interface.
    Thanks & Regards
    VenkatK

    Venkat,
I hope since you are taking different format files, you are not doing any mapping. You are moving from one location to another location, because if you different formats then you can do in one mapping your requirement.
If it is correct then as shabharish mentioned you can pick the files using multiple file sender adapters. With this you can pick the files, but to send to different directories enable ASMA in sender file commkunication channel. Then in receiver communication check the extension for each format and then give the directory name so that it routes to the destination you mentioned.
