Multiple Objects on an Engg Change request & approvals

Friends,
Have a question on ECM:
We have a requirement today, that any Material or BOM change must be preceded by its drawing/document change/approval. We do not want to create 2 separate ECR's for changing the same BOM or matl (one for its drg/doc & other for changing the BOM/matl itself).
So, I create an ECR, include the drawing/document & the matl/BOM for the approval process & want to get the approvals for the drawing 1st & then the matl/BOM, the system does not allow me to do that. i.e. system asks me to complete the Object changes on both the objects (the drawing/doc + the matl/BOM) before Closing/Releasing the ECO.
Any idea how I can control this, so that I'm able to complete the approval & changes for the drawing/document first & then be able to make changes to the other object (matl/BOM)?

The work around that I use is in my maintenance project I have added all the logical components that I will have to work with.(R/3, ECC 6.0, BW etc..) This way, when I created the Maintenance cycle, my task list had all of these systems/clients in it.
The only hick is that in the CRMD_ORDER transaction, you only can put one ibase component.
The above mentioned solution works if you combine all your systems into one maintenance cycle.

Multiple Ibase/components with one change request / interfacing Lotus Notes

Scenario: Our users post all their software change requests (not only for SAP) into an application based on Lotus Notes. Professionals of the IT department evaluate the requests and make a offer for each of the change requests. The users may (or may not) accept the offer and place an order - all this in Lotus Notes, and not only for SAP.
If that order is confirmed and points to the SAP environment, Lotus Notes automatically must involve Solution Manager by calling a rfc-enabled function module in the Solution Manager system. This function module has to create a Solution Manager Change Request (simulating CRMD_ORDER transaction) together with its maintenance cycle, task list and transport request.
Problem: One of the problems is, that Lotus Notes change requests for SAP environment often require changes to multiple logical components, like R/3 plus BW plus CRM.
Question: The question is, how to create a Solution Manager Change Request for multiple components? This is caused by the restriction of the input screen of CRMD_ORDER which allows only one Ibase/component assignment.
Do you already have worked on this or any idea that might help? I would appreciate very much if you would share your expertise. Thank you.

Can I insert the name poperty of the RequestedByUser related object of the parent Change Request workitem in a review activity email notification template?

I am working on a SCSM change control workflow driven by email.
A lot of my work is based on the information found in this post:

This is an excellent post to which my Internet searches continually return. The workflow is about 90% complete.
My question is can I insert the properties of a related object of the parent workitem in a workflow email notification?
For example, I want to include the name property of the RequestedByUser related object of the parent workitem object in a review activity notification.

Thank you for your reply. I have confirmed my template is using a projection that includes the parent workitem and requested by user. Where I am having trouble is the notification template syntax used to call the properties of the related
object of the parent workitem. The picker in the GUI won't show that related object, so I have no example to follow. I hope this reply makes sense!

ALE for Engg Change Management

We are on SAP 4.7 platform and planning to use the Engg Change Management for our materials, BOMs, ROutings, etc.
But alongwith that the requirement is to ALE this data with the chnage number to the Production system and let it get activated on a designated date.
I used BD10 to ALE the data but the chnage number and data associated with that chnage number is not getting transferred. Does anyone know how to do this?

Approving Engineering Change Request and Convert it into a Change Order
Performing Changes to Bill of Materials
Completing and Release Object Changes
Closing and Releasing Change Order.
1. Create Engineering Request: CC01
2. Check Eng. Change Request :CC02
3.Approve Engg.Change Request and convert it into change order : CC02
4.Perform changes to BOM :CS02
5. Complete and Release Object changes : CC02
6. Close and Release Engg.chnage order :CC02
or Simply
Crete Change Master (CC01) and then assign it to the BOM through that change number.

Change Request Management without Transport Management

Hello Change Request Management Experts!
I have understood that It is possible to take change request managment in use without transport management. So I could handle Change Request with different statuses without automatic funtions behind these statuies. We like to see how to handle changes between different roles of people and implement the functions after that.
I suppose that I should take only Change Request (approvals) and not Change Documents (execution) from Change Request Management.
Have any of you tried to do that?

Thank you for your answer. I have tried to do that also but I where is still some configuration missing because I get error message in: No maintenance cycle is open for the current system. I have also tried to to that maintenance cycle but I thought that it needs CTS activation in some project.
I also like to know what is minimun configuration for change management that I could use SDAD with Service Desk.

Transporting change request's

Hi,
a developer has changed a include. Also he has saved the changes in a change request (e.g. XA1817). Few days later I have also changed some lines on the same source code as my colleague and I have saved it on another change request (XA1819).
Now what happens if I transport my change request (XA1819) before transporting the change request from my colleague (XA1819) in productive system?

If the change request was not released, the system should not have allowed you to change the object without putting a change request underneath the request of the other users. Check your colleagues transport request, your request should be apart of it. Then can be released and the changes will move under one transport.
If you see the same object under two different transport requests which are both not released and not tied to each other, then you have a real problem.
I assume that you transport request is tied to your colleagues, check SE10.

Last active change request of a object which has been transported

Hi to all,
I need a method to obtain the last active change request of a object which has been transported to the corresponding target system. I know that the CR tables are E070 and E071, but how can I know the last active and transported CR of each object? Any suggestion?

Hi Antonio, As u are aware that you can get TR information from E070 and E071 tables.From these two tables we can get the latest TR. In table E070 there are two fields with AS4DATE, AS4TIME.So, U can find the latest transported object on these two fileds.Also, u need to check the TRSTATUS field which specifies whether the object is transported ( R Released) or still Modifiable( Active as D).
However this table will also contains subtasks and main request. This can be diffrentiated with the help of STRKORR field of E070. If blank then its a main req else its a subtask where the field would contain the Main Request No.
Hope this would be of some help for u r development.

There is no std program, but you can take the query element (assuming you are looking to decipher these elements) from the request and place it in SE16 > V_ELTDIR_TXT.

Multiple Change Requests for project cycle

I have a question.. if we have multiple chane requests/documents for a project cycle , how will the project cycle proceed??
i have two CRs for my implementation cycle , now how should i proceed my implementation cycle, since all the changes are of type SDMJ and i want all my changes to be imported to PRD together??

I fixed it by following : SAP note : 802793
The note explain how to re assign the client to manage change request management.
We folow the note, then the missing tab appear

Objects are locked in open change requests during support packs update

Hi All,
We are applying support packs in the ECC Dev system. Its giving error in phase OBJECTS LOCKED..? after that i checked with ABAP consultant he given requests which i unlocked the objects from SE03. Still the same error Objects are locked in open change requests is coming.
If i checked requests which are not released, those are in hundreds which we can not release. How can i find a specific object which i need to unlock or any chance to skip the phase and continue. Because 15 days back i have updated the support packs without any of the issue.
Please suggest me whether i can find the specific objects to unlock or any other process.

Normally when we double click on that error message 'objects are locked', system takes us to the transport requests containing those objects in question.
And did you try SE03 --> Objects in Requests --> Search for Objects in Requests/Tasks ?

Census objects in Change Request

Hi all,
I need to census all objects such as programs, tables and so on that are contained in several changes request.
Using transaction SE03 and SE09 I can to view the CR but is not easily to collect the objects modified in the same CR.
Anyone knows a easily method to extract objects from CR?

Cp6 - Change request (locked objects should never change!)

Because of some issues I am experiencing in my Captivate project, I needed to hide a number of slides. To my utter disappointment, I found that after I unhid these slides, my locked objects/buttons lost all their "On Success: Jump To Slide actions" and defaulted back to "Continue"
I would have grudgingly accepted this behavior, if those objects were not locked but I expect that regardless of dependencies, locked objects should never change!
In my opinion, if a dependency is lost than it is acceptable for the internal logic can default to "Continue". Even better, display a publishing message stating that object x's dependency no longer exists.

1.We have a spreadsheet with 100's of Customer data maintained in it , can we create a change request by downloading data from spreadsheet directly instead of manually entering the data in the CR. Also can we create a single change request for multiple Create customers.
2.Can we create CR's automatically , lets say we have 100's of customer data loaded into MDG hub by Data Services using DEBMAS Idoc , can this create automatic CR's , is this possible.

you can down load the customers using file down load funcationality and same change,upload the customers using the file Upload process.
you can create a single CR for muntiple customers options are shown below.

Different change request about the same object

Hi Gurus,
I have some doubts about CR (change request) from one system to another, such as from development system to quality or quality to production.
If I have 2 or more CUSTOMIZING CR about the same object Can I say that they are however identical (they contain the same information)?
For example on the customizing table:
record1 contains value 'A' --> CR number 1 is opened
record1 contains value 'B' --> CR number 2 is opened
If now I transport CR number 1 I transport value 'B'.
And the same if I transport CR number 2.
Is it correct? Both CR points to the actual value of the record?
Instead if I have 2 or more WORKBENCH CR I know they "remember" the history of the modifications:
For example on a program with only 1 istruction:
data: x.
--> CR number 1
data: x,y.
--> CR number 2
What happen If I transport the 2 CR simultaneously (selecting both from STMS) ?
What will be the result in quality/production system? Which CR "wins"?

At time of release from DEV, the current object version or table content is written into the transport data file, thus "detached" from further changes in DEV.
Now if two transport requests 1 and 2 contain the same object in two versions (older and newer) and are being imported into QA, the following scenarios are possible:
- 1 is imported first, then 2: newer version will be in QA -> OK
- 2 is imported first, then 1: older version will be in QA -> not OK
- both are imported at same time: newer version will be in QA -> OK (STMS checks when the requests were added to the import queue and sorts accordingly)
