My son-in-law wants an inexpensi've card that will allow him to connect the audio out from both internal DVD and CD. His current mobo only has one input.
Which SB card would be right for him?

On some cards, that will be possible, however, in newer Operating Systems (such as WindowsXP) you don't need to connect internally as the sound is passed over the IDE bus.
The Audigy 2 ZS has several connectors (including CD_IN, AUX_IN and CD_SPDIF).

I have several questions relating to connections on my Audidgy 2 ZS card relati've to your post above.
I'm running winXP Media Edition
) Is the sound that is passed over the IDE bus as good as the sound I would get if I connected my cd/dvd burner directly to the card via the internal (digital) CD_SPDIF connectors on both the card and the burner - in other words is the sound that is passed over the IDE bus pure digital?
2) If it is pure digital sound over IDE, why do both my cd burner and the audigy 2 zs card have analog connectors too isn't digital generally better quality sound?
3) Will I gain any benefit by connecting my burner & card together via the internal digital CD_SPDIF connections?
4) Will I gain any beneifit if I connect my cd or dvd rom dri've to the internal analog input connectors on the card or is their no purpose to this because the IDE does the same thing?
5) What type of /8 inch mini plug can I connect to the /8 inch "digital out" jack on my audigy 2 zs card to get the full output of 5. surround sound - a stereo mini plug, a mono mini plug or some other type of mini plug altogether?
6) Relati've to number 5, what will this /8 inch mini plug terminate in - a female rca jack to connect to a digital coax cable to be routed to a digital coax input on my home theatre receiver or something else?
7) I have ordered from Creative a /8" Stereo Mini Plug to Mini Din and RCA adaptor cable hopefully to fully utilize the digital out jack on my audigy sound card. Will this adaptor cable enable me to get full 5. output from the card?
8) Finally, can the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Dri've Bay part number 30SB025000005 be used in addition to all of the internal and external connections on my audigy 2 zs card?

To simplify our customer onboarding process, we need to have multiple onboarding forms populated at a single data entry point. For instance, we have a group of forms that when we have a new customer onboarding, we can pre-populate the company name, address, etc.. that will then transfer over to the rest of the documents so that the customer doesn't have to worry about it themselves. It would also be great if on the first form, there is a data field that the customer populates and then it populates the similar field on the forms that follow to speed up the whole process.

Actually i have a resource object as "Laptop" suppose, so for me the user defined fields are Laptop_type, RAM value, ROM Value and Emp ID.
These fields are made visible as UDF through Pre-pop adapters and all the other required settings.
While provisioning the same in the xlWebApp console I am populating them.
The resource form for me (Form Designer for the resource object) is made visible and i am filling in values while provisioning.
Now while sending the mails these values should reflected in the mail body for the fields.
Eg: Subject [hi] Mail body [ The following resource has been provisioned. Laptop_type : Dell, RAM value: 512, ROM value: 40, EMP ID: 123] where these values are filled in the resource form while provisioning the resource object.
Pleased let me know how can i send such mails through config settings in OIM. Right now my mail simply looks like
Eg: Subject [hi] Mail Body [The resource has been provisioned to you]

IPod FireWire connectivity problems

the firewire provided with my ipod has now made my ipod unusable, except when it is connected to the computer/wall charger by firewire...
previously i have used my USB to update it and my firewire to charge it through the wall adapter... however, i lost my USB, and used my firewire to update it aswell as charge it...
after a few updates with the firewire (2 or 3) it will not turn on unless connected to the firewire in the computer or wall adapter... it will not reset or respond in any way if it is not... this is my 3rd ipod... if anyone has any suggestions... please help... i am DESPERATE!!!!!

Having the same problem with my 3G 20GB iPod. I have an Adaptec 4300 firewire card and multiple onboard 2.0 USB ports. My computer or iTunes no longer even recognizes my iPod when I use my firewire card. It used to connect for a few minutes one out every few tries, but now nothing...It will just charge as if I was connecting it to my A/C adapter.
It will be recognizes most of the time when trying my USB but I can never get a secure connection. It will just beep real quick and then disconnect again right after.
I've tried just about every possible fix listed in these forums to no avail. I will most likely be purchasing a new mp3 player if I can't find a fix soon. It's been a major pain ever since I purchased it.
I'm currently looking at the Cowon iAudio X5 and the Toshiba Gigabeat X, F, or S series. All but the S series Gigabeat support Rockbox firmware ports making it far superior to anything iPod or iTunes has put out there.

Okay, you are not going to be able to do this using the interconnect between the switch and the router. The issue is -
1) if you make the interconnect a L2 trunk then you would have subinterfaces on the router interface connecting to the switch. But you cannot have multiple interfaces on the router configured from the same IP range so it won't work ie. you would need a subinterface using the same IP range as one of the other interfaces
2) if you make the interconnect L3 as you have then you cannot route to the same subnet ie. think of it as two separate devices, a L3 switch and a router. You connect the L3 switch to the router using a L3 connection.
On the switch you then configure a client with a public IP and on another interface on the router ie. not the interface used to connect to the switch, you use the same public IP range.
You cannot then route from the client to that other interface because you don't route to the same IP subnet and the client and the other interface are separated by a different IP subnet.
So neither will work. The L3 switch is usually used where you have multiple vlans/IP subnets and you create L3 vlan interfaces for these on the switch and then you route to other subnets that are reachable from the router, whether these are directly connected subnets or remote networks.
But you aren't doing that.
The only way i could see you doing what you need is to not configure the interconnect at all and instead run cables from the relevant router interfaces to the switch. Then you could configure vlans on the switch and have them route via the physical router interface.
The switch is then only acting as a L2 switch and all L3 is done on the router.
One thing i should say is i have never used the switch module this way so i can't guarantee it will work although i can't see why it wouldn't.

Confused about synching multiple phones to the same computer with different content: itunes wants to erase everything??

I have had an i5 for some time, but my partner just bought one to replace her 3GS. We both synch to my itunes, and have been doing so for as long as I can recall. When we got her i5, we backed up her 3GS and reloaded the content into her i5. So far so good. Now, this couple of weeks later, I decided I wanted to put some of the movies, music, etc. that I have on my itunes library on her phone. I had previous installed some of the apps that I have there without trouble. However, when I tell my itunes to put movies (etc) onto her phone, it warns me (upon apply) that this phone has been sync'ed to another itunes, and that I can do what I am asking, but it will erase everything on the phone now! I cancelled this op at this point.
As far as I know neither of us has sync'ed her phone to any other itunes, although she has probably downloaded stuff directly into the phone using the onboard itunes. Is that what it's warning me about? Is there any way to either pull the content off the phone, or merge the content with what she had locally downloaded? If not, I'm willing to sacrifice the few things that she had locally loaded as long as it's not going to, for example, erase all her photos, and contacts, and everything else as well at the same time!
This is all rather confusing to me. It's actually rather confusing that one can synch multiple devices with different settings at all, and I'm extremely surprised that it works at all. Can someone clarify what's going on here? What I should/shouldn't do? What I can/can't do?

First make sure you have authorised the iTunes computer you are using for all of the associated apple ID's via the Store Menu>Authorise this computer and enter the apple ID and password used on the phone (repeat for as many apple ID's are in use on the phone).
Then right-click (or Control Click) on the name of the phone and select Transfer Purchases (this can also be found under File>Device>Transfer purchases). This will back up all of the purchases on the device to your computer, then when you sync with the phone it will put them back on even though it has just removed them.
Its a round about way of doing it but she shouldn't loose anything as long as the computer is authorised for all of the apple ID's used on the phone

Multiple Apple TVs on the same network

I teach at a school and have used an Apple TV in conjunction with my iPad for presentations. I find it invaluable. Other teachers at my school would like to do the same, but I'm told by our tech support that multiple Apple TVs on the same network cause problems. When I ask them what problems, they aren't sure. They just tell me that other school have experienced problems. Other than a wifi bandwidth problem, I can't imagine what kind of problem it would be. A collegue of mine wants to jump onboard but desn't want to make waves. Does anyone know of any problems?

I have two Apple TV's, one in the living room and one in the bedroom... however, the living room is the only one that my iphone Remote APP is connecting with... I've named/tagged the two ATV's hoping that the Remote APP would provide me the option on which one to control, but it doesn't....
I've confirmed that home sharing is "on" with in all devices "settings"...
Any suggestions?

how do I connect multiple displays to a Lenovo 405 running windows 7? I tried a video card but the built in amd video port would not function with the video card plugged in.

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
If you're referring to the Lenovo® H405, this unit has an integrated VGA and HDMI out according to this pdf data sheet.
If you'll be using a flat panel monitor (that usualy has a VGA connector and a single link DVI D digital interface), you will need to connect 1 monitor to the VGA out and use an HDMI to single link DVI-D converter on the other monitor. You might need to scan for hardware changes under the device manager to identify the monitor that's connected to the HDMI to DVI-D converter. Note that you need to change the video setup under BIOS to IGD or the onboard graphics.
If you'll be using your discrete video adapter for the multi-monitor setup, you must change the video setup to PEG under the BIOS and the video card must have a vga or hdmi/dvi out.

Multiple network interface question

ok so i work for my college as a student worker in network operations. today they did a makeover on the dorm network and added in some traffic shaping. Instead of getting 8mb down im getting 1mb down. Well one of the admins went to lunch and had the new config still open on his computer so i shifted over and decided to take a look at this new ruleset. Im not sure why he did it like this but the traffic shaping is not done by a per port basis but by a per ip basis. Well i started thinking at this point and pulled out my old computer and installed arch on it to use as a download box for all my bittorrent needs, i have this box loaded up with 6 nics (5 pci and 1 onboard) each pulling their own ip, how can i get arch to bridge all 6 nics (or multiplex) so i can get atleast most of my bandwidth back.
Yes i asked them to exclude me from the trafficshaping but was told it wouldnt be fair to the other students

V570 problem with Intel onboard driver on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

Hello Everyone,
I recently installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on my Lenovo v570. I downloaded the drivers from the support page and I have a strange problem with the onboard graphics driver "Intel Onboard Graphics Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) - Lenovo B470, B570, V370, V470, V570" in the drivers section.
Installation seems fine, but after restart, the system fails to boot and goes into boot recovery mode, where I get a message saying that booting failed due to a bad driver and the only actual option I have to boot up is to go back to a previous restore point. I tried installing the Nvidia driver for Windows 7, but it says that I need to install an Intel driver first, which is the one that gives me the blue screen when booting. I have also tried installing both drivers without a restart between both installations, but that didn't help.
I am wondering if anyone in the community has seen something similar. Any advice, information or assistance will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance for your time.

Multiple Input and Output from a 6534

I am after some advice regarding my PCI 6543 digital I/O card and the best way to achieve my desired results. I am programming in Visual C++ with Ni-DAQ 7.
I want to generate a pattern output from one of the ports, Port A, following a software command. This pattern consists of a 10uS pulse on DIOA0, that repeats 200 times with a period of 100uS. I want this DIOA0 output line to initiate an input on ports C and D, possibly through the REQ pin. Consequently the input should acquire 200 times for each call to the pattern output.
I want this to repeat, so the pattern output goes again (as in a FOR loop), and the input occurs again for an as yet undetermined number of times.
I have managed to get something worki
ng for 1 iteration, and I can generate multiple pattern outputs, but the inputs only seem to acquire for the 1st iteration. However, if I step through the code in debug mode I can get the input to work correctly.
Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.
I am still trying to get some earlier problems with this application solved.

Hi Jamie,
There are a couple different ways you can loop from a buffer. You can either use the onboard memory of the 6534 and loop from there or you can specify as a software configuration that the board loop through the PC memory buffer.
For the onboard looping you need to specify the following:
iStatus = Set_DAQ_Device_Info (1, ND_PATTERN_GENERATION_LOOP_ENABLE, ND_ON);
For software, PC memory looping, the following function specifies this:
iStatus = DIG_DB_Config (iDevice, iGroup, 1, 0, 1);

Home Theater need. Multiple Audio Streams from 1 card or possible to use 2 car

I currently have 2 SB Li've's installed and a SB Audigy in the box.
I would like to be able to send different audio out to different devices. I need to send audio from a game interface called MAME 32 to a speaker system connected to the PC. I also use this PC as a home theater PC and want to send audio from my DVD playing software out to my TV(in analog stereo mode) and/or to my receiver(in Dolby Digital mode using the digital connector).
I would like to be able to run these seperatly without having to go into the Control Panel and switch the default sound card like I am doing now. I do not need to run them at the same time.

Bummer. Are you guys working on something that might have this capability? Seems to me that the closer we integrate PC's into our entertainment systems the more need we will have for the ability to do multiple audio streams, i.e. MP3's to the living room. DVD movie audio to the family room, XM radio classical station to the kitchen for mom etc..
Intel is offering this as an onboard solution that has the ability to do at least 2 different streams.

Multiple Displays with AGP and ON-Board

Is it possible to do multiple displays with an AGP and OnBoard videocards?
If yes, please inform me how to activate it eg. jumper setting or bios settings.

Onboard Audio wont work; Audigy 2 ZS is instal

Ever since I have installed the Audigy 2 ZS sound card and installed the drivers, I have not been able to use my onboard speaker slots on the side of my computer case, and the ones on the motherboard, before having the Audigy 2 ZS sound card, both the side and motherboard audio worked. The reason for doing so, so I can have my headset hooked up, while my speakers are hooked up.

May I ask why you can plug your headphones into your new soundblaster card?

We are developing a Consolidation app in Netweaver 10. The requirements are to provide different audit members for conso adjustments depending on the origin of the data, that is imput data or manual adjustments.

INPUT_ELIM(DIMLIST1) and MA_ELIM(DIMLIST2) are used in the consolidation rules as the source audit, wheras A_ADJ_INP and A_ADJ_MA are the destination. DIMLIST3 is supposed to match the prevlevel members with the eliminations in previous levels.
Unfortunately, it is not working in NW 10, or we are missing something. At the moment, the value of both PREVLEVEL members is set to: A_ADJ_INP + A_ADJ_MA where it should be associating the value to the source, as indicated in dimlist3.

I need an example for stacking waveforms in onboard memory using MS Visual c for PCI-6115

I would like an example of stacking multiple acquisitions in onboard memory for the PCI-6115 card. This is sometimes referred to as "Multiple Record". It is called "Sequence Waveforms" on Lecroy Scopes. I have done this on other cards before, but not on an NI card.
The example should include a way to accept a trigger, gather x number of samples, and rearm rapidly without transferring any of the just-acquired data. This way I won't miss any trigger events. The onboard memory is sufficient to store all of the waveforms that I need. One the card has acquired n waveforms, I want to DMA them into RAM.
