Multiple output formats

What is the best way to deliver three versions of the same program?
We want to capture the footage in HD and edit in native HD (no render).
Then we need to deliver on DVD both a LETTERBOXED and EDGE-CROPPED NTSC version on separate DVDs. The reason for using HD is to enable the show to be seen on HD networks, and to be available on HD-DVDs when they come out.
I can output the DV versions from the camera, but that would mean editing three (letterbox, full and HD) projects. I want to edit once, and output to suit the market.
What settings and codecs are needed? I can't figure this out.
Thanks,
Dave

  • How to get multiple output formats for each execution of the report?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to get multiple output formats for each execution of the report? If so can you provide some details?
    Thanks

    In Reports 6i, Reports Distribution was introduced. This allows you to run the report once and output to a number of destinations with a different format. It also allows you to distribute individual sections within a report to different destinations in different formats.
    The Destinations for a Report to distribute to are defined either in a distribution file and passed on the command line or inside of the report definition.
    To add a destination to the the report definition, bring up the property palette against the report object and then select the "Distribution" property under the "Report" node. This will bring up a dialog that allows you to create a distribution list. You can then test this list by selecting "file->distribute" from the menu.
    To run a report that is to be distributed through rwrun60, you need to add "distribute=yes" to the command line. It will pick up the destinations from the report definition. If you add "destination=<filename>" then it will pick up the destinations from the specified "<filename>" and ignore the destinations in the report definition.
    Note: if "distribute=yes" is specified on the command line then the destype/desname/desformat parameters will be used to format the report (ie: which printer/display to use during formatting for sizing objects) but will be ignored when the report is sent to the destinations.

  • Multiple Output formats from Single Source File? (Like Squeeze)

    I'd really love to be able to batch process encodes in the following manner:
    Drop my source video file into AME CS5, select an MP4 preset, and then have it encode multiple bitrate versions while adding filename extensions [e.g. _High (700 kb/s), _Mid (550 kb/s), _Low (400 kb/s)].
    The simple answere is to drop, or duplicate, my input clip 3 times and just select 3 presets I could set up under the Hi, Mid, Lo parameters. But that's exactly what I'm trying to work around. I encode video ads for major web-video sites, and the volume is just manageable to batch process these (drag and drop large quantities, select multiple presets at once, hit Start.) To handle each ad we service would be far too time consuming, even for as simple as AME makes it to duplicate/choose new preset. (In the end, our ads jump onto our FTP via AME's FTP upload option, one of it's smartest features!)
    We have quite a bit of encoding resources here at work, but AME has been giving us the most favorable results. Other options, such as Sorenson Squeeze, let you import your source clips, then apply 2 or more presets to them, before encoding the whole batch. Is there any similar functionality in Media Encoder? (Really don't want to move our workflow into Squeeze, with it's inferior MP4 encoding.)
    Does anybody have any experience with this sort of high-volume multiple-outputs from individual source files? Any tips with scripts or Apple's "Automator" that could streamline this type of batch processing?

    Any update on this ability?  We create many in house videos that need to be encoded to 14 different
    bitrates for use with Flash Media Server as dynamic http streams.
    Currently when I am ready to export a finished sequence, I will pick my first preset and queue it in AME.  Then I duplicate that thirteen times, setting each of the new thirteen queued items to their appropriate bitrates.  Then I have to change each of the output names to be "filename_bitrate.flv".
    This process is much slower when queued in AME than if I exported each individually from PP.  I just don't have the time to manually export each version.
    I have also started noticing that some of the last few projects won't render beyond the quality of the first queued item.  Do I need to render the largest bitrate file first?
    Any indication from Adobe on the correct workflow to create multiple bitrate files to be consumed by FMS as dynamic http streams would be appreciated.
    The link above is dead.  Does anyone have an updated link to the document above?

  • Editing for multiple output formats

    Sorry if this is a stupid question...I'm just getting started with FCE.
    I'm working on a movie that I want to use in multiple places:
    - HD version to play directly from computer onto HD display
    - regular definition DVD
    - web sized video
    My source material is 1280x720 from a cheap HD camcorder, recorded in H.264-encoded quicktime, along with some other low-res video sources (320x240) recorded from still cameras.
    I'm assuming if I want HD output in some cases, I need to edit that way...so in the easy setup I set the 720p AIC setting. Is this correct?
    For what I want to do (multiple outputs including DVD), is it better to edit my HD material with the 720p AIC setting, or should I use one of the NTSC settings? I tried one, but it made my sequence play on-screen at 720x480 (I believe), and it looked quite degraded...
    Help!

    Aha...that explains why I have to render so often, which was bumming me out. Is there some way to make FCE transcode it into AIC or something else that it can edit more flexibly with?
    You're right - bit rate is super low...but video quality isn't too bad for a camera which cost me all of $100. It's kinda cool - I don't have to worry about it much, and can just throw it in whatever bag I happen to be carrying at the time.
    I uploaded a short sample clip here (complete with totally screwed up white balance!):

  • Scheduling a job with multiple output formats.

    Urgent!!
    Basically while scheduling a job in BI Publisher we specify an output format. It can be PDF, CSV, HTML or so… Is there a way to specify more than one output format while scheduling a job.
    Thanks in advance.

    you have to re-publish them.
    for a run, you can have only one output .

  • Default output format

    Hi all.
    How does one specify the default output format for a template that can have multiple output formats?
    I want some to default to PDF and some to default to HTML.
    Dave

    Hi ashee1.
    I thought about that. That's a rather serious hack
    though. I don't want to have to create multiple
    templates (with the associated maintenance issues)
    just to specify the default output format for a
    particular report.
    DaveDave:
    While registering the Template Definition, specify the default output format. When you run it, you can change the output format using Options.

  • Multiple output modules cause render to fail?

    Is anybody else having trouble with using multiple output modules in after effects?  Let me elaborate:  so I'm working on a 3d film, and my worflow is to simply work with the footage side by side in a single comp (we're at HD, so the comp size is 3840x1080).  Very often, I need to fire off a quick render to show to the director.  Most of the time, I just do the left eye by cropping to that 1920x1080 area in the output module.  Other times I need to deliver both eyes, so instead of cropping to 1920x1080, I resize the frame in the output module to 1920x1080.  Yea, we lose half of our horizontal resolution, but that's not such a big deal for us when just working on approvals.
    Here's the thing: sometimes I like to export multiple variations of this at once (ie one output module for the left eye, one for the right eye, and another for the squished side-by-side left-right video).  Whenever I try to output multiple modules with quicktime, it fails.  Every time.
    When it fails, I get two messages: the first (a warning) says "After Effects warning: last frame was written to one or more output modules, but not all! ( 26 :: 153 )"
    The second message (an error) shows up once for each output module: "After Effects error: Rendering error while writing to file "C:\blahh blah blah\whereIputmyfiles\the_render.mov". An output module failed.  The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)."  Once it fails, I cannot output to quicktime AT ALL (multiple output modules, or not) without restarting After Effects.
    I tried outputting multiple modules as a PNG sequence... and that worked just fine (if "slow as hell" can ever be called "fine" .... but it worked! )
    I tried outputting to the multiple formats I wanted with one output module per render item (rather than having one render item with multiple modules) as quicktime, and that worked just fine (of course... it takes N times as long though... for N number of outputs).
    I am on Windows 7 64-bit... running After Effects CC 2014... I never had this trouble back when I was working on the CC version (the not 2014 cc version... that is too confusing...).  However, I just went back and tried it with the older version, and it no longer works there either!  What gives?
    When outputting quicktime, I'm using the h.264 codec.
    And before anybody suggests it, no I can't just use AME because that can't resize video (it forces you to keep the aspect ratio through letterboxing) or crop video.

    >The most likely culprit is the h.264 Quicktime. It should have never been included as an option. It doesn't even work well in Quicktime Pro or in Final Cut...
    I'll come to Apple's (partial) defense here:
    Their H.264 codec was written and released at a time when it was difficult to imagine that mainstream computers would have as many CPUs as they do now, so it's somewhat understandable that the severe failures that this codec has with large numbers of threads occurs. Of course, we may all wish that Apple hadn't decided to end development on the QuickTime platform, since this has meant that bugs like this are likely to persist.
    That said, this is why we increasingly recommend that people use other H.264 codecs and not use QuickTime for such things. See the H.264 options currently in Adobe Media Encoder.

  • Xml output format in sql*plus problem

    Hi all,
    In stead of seeing xml output in multiple line format, my sql*plus always returns xml output in ONE line, is there a way to change the format, it's really hard to read.
    Thanks
    1 select xmlelement("row", xmlelement("user", xmlattributes(username as "name", default_tablespa
    2 from dba_users
    3* where rownum=1
    SQL>/
    XMLELEMENT("ROW",XMLELEMENT("USER",XMLATTRIBUTES(USERNAMEAS"NAME",DEFAULT_TABLES
    <row><user name="SYS" tbs="SYSTEM"></user></row>
    however I want to see something well formatted like
    <row>
    <user name="SYS" tbs="SYSTEM"></user>
    </row>

    Not sure if there are any settings with the SQL*PLUS but if you use packages other than the SQLX operators like DBMS_XMLQUERY, DBMS_XMLGEN, SYS_XMLGEN to generate xml then the output is as desired.
    select dbms_xmlgen.getxml('select username, default_tablespace from dba_users
    where rownum=1') from dual
    DBMS_XMLGEN.GETXML('SELECTUSERNAME,DEFAULT_TABLESPACEFROMDBA_USERSWHEREROWNUM=1'
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <USERNAME>REVIEW</USERNAME>
    <DEFAULT_TABLESPACE>METRICS</DEFAULT_TABLESPACE>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    But these packages does not offer the flexibility you have with SQLX operators.
    so if you requirement is simple generation you can use the above method.

  • Question about creating multiple output  files from same query

    I have a query like this:
    select * from emp;
    ename empno deptno
    Scott 10001 10
    Tiger 10002 10
    Hanson 10003 20
    Jason 10004 30
    I need to create multiple output files in xml format for each dept
    example:
    emp_dept_10.xml
    emp_dept_20.xml
    emp_dept_30.xml
    each file will have the information for employees in different departmemts.
    The reason I need to do this is to avoid executing the same query 200 times for generating the same output for different departments. Please let me know if it is practically possible to do this.
    Any input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot!!

    You can write a shell script to generate the multiple spools files for the same output. Below script may helps you.

    #!/bin/bash
    n=0
    while [ $n -le 20 ]
    do
    n=`expr $n + 1`

    spool emp_dept_$n.xml
    select count(1) from tab;
    spool off

  • Anyone understand the purpose of Proxy render/output format?

    So I've done a couple of projects with X now and am fairly happy with the proxy workflow:
    1) Ingest, creating proxies, but no optimized - render format set to ProRes regular
    2) Edit in proxy
    3) In preferences, switch back to "Use original or optimized"
    4) Tweak edit
    5) Render and export
    However, I'm still not understanding the thinking behind the render/output format (full-resolution proxy) when you are editing in proxy. It seems to me that it SHOULD be:
    EITHER: When you're editing proxy, if you render/export, FCPX renders/outputs in proxy using the same low resolution as your proxy files. This would be great for early, quick samples for clients. No need to spend forever rendering full-res ProRes regular, or the pointless upsizing of pre-rendered lo-res proxies.
    OR: Even while you're editing from proxies, background rendering is done in your full-quality format (i.e. 1080 ProRes regular). This would save you from re-rendering when you switch back over to original/optimized.
    Ideally, there'd be a toggle to choose which of these you want. Even without a toggle, Apple should pick one of these it seems. The way it is now seems useless.
    SUMMARY:
    While editing in proxy, render/output should be either:
    1) 720x540 ProRes Proxy
    OR
    2) 1920x1080 ProRes Regular
    BUT NOT
    3)1920x1080 ProRes Proxy
    I was going to send an enhancement request about it, but figured I'd first see if anybody knows of a useful reason for it instead being this third, awkward format.
    Thoughts?

    I had hoped the summary would clear up the question. I guess not. Let's try this again:
    QUESTION - Would other people like the output, when in proxy mode, to be a low-res ProRes Proxy file - the same size as the files that are created when you tell FCPX to make proxies of your original files?
    DETAILS
    - When you create proxies of your original files, they are a low-resolution of "something"x540 (in my case 720x540)
    - If you output while in proxy, you get a proxy output file at 1920x1080 - this is 5.3 times as many pixels to render as 720x540.
    - Assuming a linear relationship between number of pixels and render time, this means it would take over 5 times as long to render the current form of proxy output, as compared to what I'm asking for.
    - I want a quickly-rendered format (like 720x540 Proxy) so I can quickly render/output, change things, re-render/output, sending multiple sample files to the client.
    - Of course, the ability to mark in/out on the timeline and export just that section is also important here, but that's another post and has already been discussed.
    - For further details, see my original post
    As for my workflow, I don't need to work with either/or. I work in proxy (which, if you're doing more than straight cuts, allows better playback before rendering, no matter what computer you're using) until I'm ready for the final tweaks to graphics or the edit that actually rely on fine detail, and want to output in 1080 Prores regular, at which point I change the preference back to original/optimized, like I said right at the start of the first post. No mind reading necessary. I then tweak, render and output. I'm not sure you're understanding the purpose of a proxy workflow.

    I have a requirement. I need to assign multiple output types to existing Billing document type. But there is only one output type/procedure can be assigned in the Billing document type. My client wants another print output format for the same document type. I can get a new smart form created and assigned to the output type.
    But wher would i assign that to the billing doc type? Or is there any other way out?

    Hi Guys,
    I am creating a report in XML Publisher (not standalone). I am facing some problems could anyone please help me to figure out the issues.
    Is it possible to have all three output format (PDF, HTML & EXCEL) exact (same aligned) only by creating a single RTF Template? I am facing the problem with Excel output format the output format of excel is taking excels cell formatting.
    Example Numeric fields --> Right Aligned, text fields --> Left Aligned
    One more issue with excel is -ve(negative) values are getting displayed in red and in brackets like ($13) (with red color).
    Our client want excel output on priority.
    Is there any limitation for excel output format of reports?
    It is very urgent for us please help.

    1) What about the negative values?
    if any field is displaying negative amount then excel not displaying right value for that:(
    2)How can we align header or data?
    Do XMLP with EBS provide any solution for formatting in excel?
    3) If for the alignment of numeric value we concatenate them with any special character then how can we perform calculation that field?
    Here are so many formatting issues do we need to write any code in xml for that?

  • Changing Oracle Report Output Format at runtime

    Dear All,
    I've custom Oracle Report in Oracle Apps., and would like to give the users an option to select the output format (XML, TEXT, PDF, etc.) whilst submitting the request.
    As a SYSADMIN, we can modify the Output Format value of the concurrent program(Oracle Report in this case) to one we like.
    But I would like the user to select this output format option at runtime, rather then hard coding at SYSADMIN level. For that I've to create a Value Set with the desired report output format options, and attach this to the concurrent program.
    My question is, how we can make the desired output format to work at runtime?
    If any one can help?
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    Hi Steve,
    I couldn't get it...???
    I'm running an Oracle Report in Oracle Apps. release 11.5.9
    The default output format of this report is TEXT, which is defined in its concurrent program.
    This report is submitted using standard request submission screen, and after successful completion we can view the output by pressing "View Output" button on "Requests" screen. This will open an another window and we can view the output page by page. Using "Tools>Copy File..." menu option, we can view the same output in IE window.
    Now, how does your resolution fits here and how can I view the same report in XML format?
    Many Thanks,
