Multiple output streams of differing quality for live events

I'm to be working on multicasting a few live events for my company. I've configured multicast to work throughout our networks, works great. But we do have a few remote employees who need unicast streams over the public internet (via QT Streaming Server).
I want to deliver the local clients a high-quality ~2-3mbit stream, and the remote users a smaller 150-300k stream.
Is there any way to get QT Streaming Server to recode its stream? Or a way to make Broadcaster output two simultaneous streams? Or do I need two QT Broadcaster boxes?

I've found no way to do this with broadcaster, but I have found that WireCast (http://www.telestream.net/wire-cast/) does exactly what I need. Combined with QT Streaming Server, I'll be able to support both multicast and unicast clients with streams of various sizes.

Detecting Bandwidth Quality for Live Video Streaming

Hi,
We have an application that is using FMS to share slides (swf,jpg, etc) with another client. We added a video as an option. We would like to verify as often as possible the bandwidth quality between communications in order to suggest the user to close video if we notice bandwidth is not optimal.
We've been experimenting doing a bandwidth detection every 60 seconds, but I am wondering if there are specific guidelines to do this for live video, like how many times one should verify bandwidth? Is it ok to take one reading or should we take a few readings and then average out?
Taking into consideration that every time we test bandwidth fms seems to flood the connection to figure out the bandwidth, I was wondering if anyone has some insight into this.

Using a different color for each event in a calendar?

I don't know if this is possible. If I have a calendar that is green. Every event I set up in that calendar is green. So if you have a full day of events each day on the calendar just looks like this mass of green.
Is there any way (as I've seen in other calendar apps.) to change the color for each event so that they stand out more.
I see references on the net to an iCal plugin called iCalibrate which seems to do this but it also doesn't seem to be available any more? But it said...
" iCalibrate 1.3 can now change any color, anywhere in any of your calendars"
That's pretty much what I'd like to be able to do.

Ok I found a similar question on this forum that was answered and helped. If anyone comes across this wondering the same thing, copy and paste your SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css file and rename the copy to something like "(Title_Of_Page)SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" and then replace "SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" in your code to <link href="../SpryAssets/(Title_Of_Page)SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" and then you are good to go.

Publish multiple ical calendars with different colours for each calendar

i am wanting to publish either multiple iCal calendars or a calendar group online so that the colours are preserved for different calendars. it would seem that the MobileMe published calendars still only support one colour (blue). could someone recommend another method of publishing read only iCal calendars online, preferably free, but i don't mind paying a small amount

I would love to know how you can make some events Private.
We use ical and sync to Google Calendar, but when I create events in iCal, there is no option to make it private.
We have created a CalDAV connection to Google Apps Calendar, so any help about why there is no check box for Private would be appreciated.

ICals on OS X & iOS display different time for same event

I am in UTC+8 time zone. My boss is in UTC-5 time zone. I have set up sync service on my MBA and iPhone iCals with my company's MS Exchange Server.
I have a weekly meeting invitation from my boss, my MBA iCal displays this meeting on 10:30pm which is wrong, while my iPhone and MS Server displays 9:30pm which is corret - the meeting takes places on 9:30pm my time.
All my other iCal events are fine on both devices, only this weekly event displays different time. I have taken with MBA and iPhone to travel around the world over the past half year and switched time zones on them, but they are all set to adjust time zones automatically, and they are with most up-to-date system. Why does MBA iCal displays wrong time? Can I adjust it? This problem exisits on Lion and now also on M Lion.

Try using floating time zones. It helped for me.

Different GL for Transaction/Event Key FRL

Hi expert,
I hv an issue for subcontract processing.. as defined in SAP the GL for Subcontract is :
Dr. [FRL] External Service Fee
Cr. [WRX] GR/IR
Dr. [GBB-VBO] Inventory
Cr. [BSV] SP components for refurbishment
but at the other requirement, the GL for subcontract need to define as the following :
Dr. [FRL] External Service Material
Cr. [WRX] GR/IR
Dr. [GBB-VBO] Inventory
Cr. [BSV] SP components for refurbishment
So, how can i define the differences. As i know, SAP just give one transaction/key FRL with one GL account.
Is there any solutions for this issue?
i think that it can be changed by defining a new mov.type copy from 101 to combine with new transaction/event key to differ the GL account, but the matter is i can't find any acc.modification FRL assign in this mov.type so i can't change it with new transaction/event key on it....
please help mee...

i ll explain it more details..
the material is the same.. the business process is that the material can be repaired and can be buy by using procedure exchange parts program.
when it is repaired.. the requirement for the GL is :
Dr. FRL External Service Fee
Cr. WRX GR/IR
Dr. GBB-VBO Inventory
Cr. BSV SP components for refurbishment
and when it is exchanging parts program the GL is :
Dr. FRL External Service Material
Cr. WRX GR/IR
Dr. GBB-VBO Inventory
Cr. BSV SP components for refurbishment
and certainly, the material can only be assigned with one valuation class.. logically one valuation class can't be assigned with more than one GL account in one trans/event key especially FRL..
So how it can be solved? or is there any solution by creating a new movement type for Godds Receipt to move the GL to another one.. thanks

Streaming Multiple Live Events to 1 EC2 Instance

Hello, we are new to the Flash Media Server world. We are using this with Amazon EC2 integration. We currently have a need to stream multiple streams from various locations at the same live event. We have 3 stages we need to stream at a music festival. How can we utlize streaming these different stages to one EC2 instance running Flash Media Server? Currently it seems we are only able to generate one .m3u8 file with the cloudformation template. Ultimately we'd like to have a playlist in our end player where our subscribers can access the multiple stages. It seems this should be possible. Any tutorials on how to do this with Amazon EC2, Cloudfront and Flash Media Server?

I just figured it out through hours of testing. Too simple actually.
Create your amazon fms stack.
in FMLE on each computer- make sure the stream has (anyname)?adbe-live-event=liveevent
The ?adbe-live-event=liveevent is the key.
you can name the stream anything before the ? . (stage1?adbe-live-event=liveevent on computer 1 , and stage2?adbe-live-event=liveevent , on computer 2
The rtmp address is your 1 instance or server /livepkgr from your cloudformation stack not your instance.
(you must have this /livepkgr at the end of your rtmp. find it under cloud formation and the region you made it in.
Then use what ever rtmp player and put the differant streamer names in with the same rtmp address.
I use a player where clients can pick differant parts of an event broadcasting, just like your example.

Multiple sound output streams?

Hi list. I've got a question about sound output. Specifically, when I do voicechat with things like iChat or Ventrilio, I want that to use my USB headphones for its audio output, even though I'm also listening to iTunes on my normal analog output.
Is it possible to use multiple output streams like this? And if not, why not?

Okay, never mind. I found it as a per-application preference. Silly me.

Question about creating multiple output files from same query

I have a query like this:

I need to create multiple output files in xml format for each dept
example:
emp_dept_10.xml
emp_dept_20.xml
emp_dept_30.xml
each file will have the information for employees in different departmemts.
The reason I need to do this is to avoid executing the same query 200 times for generating the same output for different departments. Please let me know if it is practically possible to do this.

You can write a shell script to generate the multiple spools files for the same output. Below script may helps you.

Multiple Alarms for 1 Event

Keep getting multiple alarms (usually 3) popping up for each event in ical. I go into the event and edit it down to 1 alarm but that is not fixing problem. I just updated to 10.5.5 and it is still happening. Any suggestions?

You can only assign directly one location to each event, but each photo in the event may be assigned to an individual location. When you display the event in places you will see all the different locations.

Adding video in different quality into iTunes library

I have the problem with importing my video in different quality (for iPhone 3GS, Full HD and so on) into my iTunes Library.
Before upgrade of my mac pro 1.1 to Lion 10.7.5. from Snow Leo I was able to drag the whole folder with video files in different quality onto the Itunes windows and iTunes added all formats (M4V with different quality) and assigned it with single movie. Now Itunes addes only one file to its library. So I have to choose in which quality to add file, because it is impossible to add the same file in other quality. It is possible to back this feature back in present configuration?
Lion 10.7.5 (it is impossible to upgrade to Mountain Lion)

HLS IP with multiple outputs

Hello all,
I'm currently working with Vivado HLS (2014.4) and am trying to generate an IP with has an generic amount of OUTputs.
For better explanation I've made an "block-image" (sort of) how it should look like when imported in Vivado (in a Block Design):
So it gets an array of booleans (preferable generic!) and splits it into "sizeof(bool[])" output signals.
What I mean with generic is showed in the following picture:
This is the "utility vector logic"-IP from Vivado. There you can set, if double-clicked, the parameter "CSIZE" which directly sets the size of in- and output arrays to CSIZE.
I'm trying to achieve something similar:
I want to Input an array "in[CSIZE]" and split it into CSIZE output wires!
Best would be if i would be able to set the parameter CSIZE of my synthesized IP in Vivado, the way it's done in the "utility vector logic" - IP through the Properties menu.
1) Is this even possible with High Level Synthesis?
2) If not: Is it possible with a fixed size input array (like in[5]) and then manually set the number of output wires to e.g. 5?
3) If this is too isn't possible: How does is work to output a boolean array ("Res[9:0]") like it's done in the "utility vector logic"-IP?
3.1) Which directives would i have to use to achieve this goal?
Because right now, I don't know how to output a boolean array as signal (it always changes to memory, or if implemented as Pointer it's no output (it's on the left side)
It should look something like this (analog to "utility vector logic"):
where in and out are boolean ports.
Preferable the size of the in- and output array is generic and settable in the Vivado properties menu (like mentioned in the example above)!
4) Could you give me according c++ code snippets to solve my problems and to achieve my goal?
My goal is to connect multiple own IP's (theirs clock) with the multiple output ports of the generated IP above (therefore multiple outputs).

You can't use VHLS to get an IP with parameters;
To be optimal, a change of parameter would need the generated RTL to change, and at the moment, if you wanted to change your IP then you need to rerun C-synthesis. In other words, VHLS doesn't generate IPs with parameters.
For the other question , check the use or array partition complete;
Be aware that outputs have a valid driven interface by default - that's because the outputs may not be valid at every clock cycle when the IP is running.
An example of what you described might be this clock divider that generates N outputs where gen_clk[i] is input clock divided by (M/rate[i])

but be aware that the tool tells you clearly:
@W [RTGEN-101] Port 'gen_clk_0' with mode 'ap_none' may require an associated data valid signal to correctly communicate with other blocks or a test bench; automatic C/RTL co-simulation may not be able to verify such a port.
In IPI you may not be able to integrate this as the outputs are not decorated as being of type "clocks".

Why does calendar assume the time in an event subject,is the time you want for the event?

If I try to enter any number with a colon, Calendar assumes, that's the time for the event. Not sure why this change was made. I need to enter a time in the subject line, and a different time for the event to happen. Old version allowed this with no problem. What do I need to do in Mavericks to allow this.???

I have a small application called Multi Event Filter available on the Mac App Store which creates Calendar events from text or spreadsheets. While not really what it was designed to do, a side effect of Multi Effect Filter is that it retains the times entered for events in the titles.

Mutliple camera feeds, different qualities: How to reduce live stream quality for mobile users??

My issue is I have multiple cameras from users and some are on mobile devices, so I want the mobile users to receive a different quality feed.
I've tried using receiveVideoFPS to no avail (apparently H.264 can't / won't ever support this feature....)
Can feeds be received differently so that if one users has an HD camera feed, the mobile guys not choking his connection and cpu trying to pull it down?
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

1) any practical use of P2P multicast will have a delay measured in seconds. it shouldn't go to 30 seconds unless you have a large NetStream.bufferTime.
2) i strongly recommend against changing the multicast stream parameters. they all interact with each other. decreasing the window duration will decrease the effective reliability of the stream, by reducing the amount of time to receive all of the fragments of the stream as they pass through the P2P group -- especially when people join or leave the group, which can disrupt the low latency "push" trees that are constructed in the group.
3) you should be able to change the encoding parameters on the fly without a major disruption. are you using H.264 or Sorenson Spark? it's possible that your camera doesn't like to have its capture size changed and it is freezing temporarily. i'm not having any trouble changing the capture size with my camera (and using H.264). i recall there being some issue with changing the frames-per-second on the fly (at least some time ago, and i don't remember what the issue is) -- there was enough of an issue that i disabled it in my little app while actively publishing.

Recommended setup for live streaming of HD video and HE-AAC audio (5.1 channels)

Could anybody please post a working hardware configuration for streaming HD video (720p) and 5.1 channel audio using HE-AAC via FMLE3?
What is your experience and what kind of professional equipment would you recommend (camera, capture card, type of cables used, PC specs incl. CPU and memory, etc.)?
I'm looking for a portable solution that ideally supports two concurrent streams (at different bit-rates) and multi-pass encoding (yes, I know that professional hardware supports that even for a live setting with a little delay).
FMLE (or is it Windows?) seems to be very picky as far as the recognition of HD data from specific input sources is concerned. Hence my question before investing into new hardware.

Flash Player does not support 5.1 audio at this time, only 2 channel audio.
For what you describe, you may want to consider one of the streaming appliances or solutions from companies like ViewCast, Digital Rapids, or Inlet. ViewCast and Digital Rapids both offer portable appliances.
Flash Media Live Encoder does not support two-pass encoding, the only solution that I'm aware of that does this for Flash is Kulabyte that offers a 2-pass software solution as well as a complete solution with hardware.
If you use a capture card with FMLE you'll be fine with HD inputs, the problem seems to be with cameras that only offer HD source as MPEG-2 and FMLE only supports RAW input at this time.
