Multiple PalmOS users on iCal

Dear apple discussions friends,
I am currently switching from Windows to Mac OS and would like to synchronize my calendar informations to iCal from two separate Palms.
I was unsuccessful in finding answers to this question in this forum. This is my first post so I hope I am posting to the right forum.
I have two different Palms (referenced as two different users in Palm Desktop) and consequently two different calendars which I would like to synchronize with iCal into two different Calendars. It is necessary for me to do that under the same MacOS user-name (session login).
Is it possible and if yes, how ?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Kenny, Geneva

Does anybody already had to deal with this issue ?
Thanks, Kenny

  • ITunes setup on a NAS with multiple windows users - how?

iTunes setup on a NAS with multiple windows users?
I am very confused on what is the best way to handle this setup for my friends family.  Any help would be appreciated.  Sorry in advance as I know this is a long winded post - I have a feeling this will help others faced with the same issues or questions.
    CURRENT SETUP
I have three new Windows 7 machines networked (two desktops and one laptop) that have four users on each - as busy family with children who need the computers for homework, projects, games, etc...  The goal of this setup is that any user can log onto any computer and have there documents available to them no matter computer was free to use.  I set this up using the library function in Windows 7 and seems to work pretty well.
I have put a Buffalo Linkstation NAS on the system as well.  This was going to serve two purposes 1)  run some backup software to protect the computers and 2) consolidate the iTunes content in one place for all users.  There is also an iPad in the home that I should would be better served by accessing the content on the NAS without requiring any of the computers being on.  Dave is thinking about getting some other playback devices like Apple TV so thought a NAS would be a good way to go.
CURRENT ITUNES SETUP - I have created a new iTunes library on the NAS by holding the SHIFT button down while starting iTunes and pointed to that folder on a Share on the NAS.  There was no music on the system at the time as we are planning to copy this over from an OLD machine that is now not being used.  I have also authorized all the computers and turned on the home sharing feature (although I am not sure what good that does).
This “shift” button trick seesm to also point the default directory there without point to it in the advanced setup tab of iTunes.
I then synced one of the iPods with purchased content on it and synced that to the library after asking me to do so before an update.  All the content showed up in the library and was playable - awesome.
I then logged into each user on each machine (yikes) and installed iTunes  and used the “shift” trick to connect each users iTunes to the database on the NAS.  Everything seems to work - but I have not tested it thoroughly.
    SUMMARY
3 new Windwos 7 networked machines
4 identical users on each machine
    1 TB Buffalo linkstation
iTunes setup with the folder on a SHARE
all user’s itunes connected to the iTunes folder on the NAS
all computers authorized with home sharing turned on.
one iTunes user account signed in on each machine
multiple iPods and one iPad in the system
    QUESTIONS/CONCERNS
Is there a better way to do this on a NAS?
Would home sharing be better in some way?
I understand the NAS should show up under the shared section in iTunes - I assume that would mean that would mean each user has an iTunes library on their documents?
I have read that there may be corruption issues if users on the different machines try to access iTunes at the same time.
Will there be any issues syncing that various iPods with?
Ugh - sorry for the long post and all the questions.  I am just trying to find the best way to do this.  I wish Apple would put out a best practices document for setups like this.  Thanks in advance.

This is a user to user support forum. Your fellow users can offer solutions or workarounds based on their experience with the application. If you think it should work differently drop a line to iTunes Feedback.
For reasons unknown Apple haven't chosen to allow iTunes to be suspended in one profile and active in another. My recollection is that this applies even if each profile has a different library, although it is some time since I've committed a personal test.
I'm not sure why my suggestion make less sense that your current approach?. As I understand it currently everybody is either signed into their own account when they can do something other than work with iTunes, or they sign into the special iTunes account where they can't access any of their other stuff. You don't have to disable fast user switching. Follow exactly the same steps, but make sure everyone closes iTunes before turning the computer over to another user. Disabling fast user switching helps to enforce that action.

  • Multiple profiles/users on the same device

    Hi there,
I know that iOS is a single user environment.
But, I am currently working in an enterprise environment and I was wondering if it was possible to have several profiles on the same device, maybe using certificates or so?
    Thanks for your help
    Cheers,
    Pierre.

It would seem that unlike previous iOS devices the iPad and possibly AppleTV call for the ability to enable multiple profiles/users on the same device.
I would suggest that if this capability is not on the roadmap for iOS by now then there is a least one place where alternatives to the iPad will have a major advantage.
The thought they I would have to buy multiple iPads one for myself, my wife and my child because of a software constraint is untenable from a ecological standpoint (all these devices end up as landfill) let alone the economic one.
Also as I use the iPad I see it's potential to become as important computing platform to me as my laptop eventually surpassing it. In this light I can't see how it could remain just a personal device.

  • Multiple disconnected users on the same laptop

Has any open come across the following requirement? I have a customer that is interested in 'sharing' laptops with multiple offline users with the ability to sync. Can we have multiple disconnected users on the same laptop? If so what would be the options? The challenge is how to manage multiple extracts on one MWC installation. I suspect that 'OOTB', we only support one extract per machine/installation of the MWC. We may be able to support multiples, but it would take some config/customization.

Please don't post the same question in different forums

  • Multiple iCloud Accounts in iCal

Does anyone know if its possible to add multiple iCloud accounts into iCal?
i have a situation where i have one account asigned to the mac through system prefernces which is syncing iCal, Address Book, Mail etc etc. I also have another iCloud account with a different ID, i would like to view inside of iCal. In iCal Preferences it seems i would be able to add the account but my concern is it will cause sync problems.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance

Yes, you can have multiple iCloud accounts in iCal. Add the additional accounts from the accounts tab in iCal prefs. The only hangup I have seen is making sure that your default calendar is set properly and keeping track of which calendar the entries are on. Make sure you set the colors to be contraasting to avoid confusion.

  • Multiple runtime users for the same runtime

    Hi,
Is there any GUI method to create multiple runtime users to access the same runtime repository ? Currently, we are running this script:
    =============
    grant WB_U_UII_OWB_REP9204 to &&rep_user;
    grant WB_R_UII_OWB_REP9204 to &&rep_user;
    grant WB_D_UII_OWB_REP9204 to &&rep_user;
    grant WB_A_UII_OWB_REP9204 to &&rep_user;
    ==============
Is this the correct way of doing it ?
    Thanks and regards,
    Biswa.

    Biswa,
No way to do this in UI other than the first time the runtime repository is created by the Runtime Assistant. However, as you correctly point out, granting the following 4 roles to any user is all it takes: WB_RT_X, where RT is the name of your Runtime Repository and X is A, D, R or U:
    - The User role (U) gives select access to the public views in the runtime repository.
    - The Developer role (D) gives execute access to the PL/SQL packages in the runtime repository required to perform deployment operations.
    - The Runtime role (R) gives execute access to the PL/SQL packages in the runtime repository required to perform execution operations.
    - The Admin role (A) gives execute access to the PL/SQL packages in the runtime repository required to perform administrative operations.
So you actually have some flexibility as to what exactly you want to allow the user to do.

  • Can Multiple DOE users access same client

    Dear All,
I have a use case where manager and his team have to use the same physical device ( It mean same client in the handheld and also the same application). Manager and all the team members are DOE Users.
As far as i know, we will have multiple local users in the client and mapped to single doe user, where as synchronization will happen through DOE sync user, who is configured in the client. During Sync DOE authenticates this user.
But in my use case, DOE should authenticate all the users (user with which i am synchronizing the data). Is this possible in the standard client? Is there any possibility to achieve this?
    Regards,
    Kiran.

    HI,
Your requirement is a standard behavior and there is nothing like  all the local client users are mapped to DOE users in default client.
If each local client user has a corresponding DOE server username(i guess it need to be the same username or so) , with a user logged in , he/she can provide their own sync password which will take sync user as the currently logged in local client user.
Only catch here that irrespective of which user is synching, all the messages in the queue (new data, modifications etc ) created by all the users will be send to server with this sync.
    Regards,
    Liji

  • Multiple database users, ORM, entity framework, best practices

    Hello everyone!
You've already helped me several times, however I must ask for an advice once more.
I was assigned to develop .NET application with Data Access Layer and I've decided to use Oracle Database Software to provide sample data.
As I'm absolute novice considering creating DAL I'd be grateful if you can examine my plan in terms of security and reliability:
    My database:
    1) I've created database with sample tables and relations between them. All tables belongs to databaseAdmin.
    2) I've created HR and Manager database users and granted them some privileges on certain databaseAdmin's tables. My intention is to reduce access to unnecessary tables. If my application user want to make some changes to Customers table it should be enough to connect to database as HR.
And now I'd like to map my database using Entity Framework in my application. And that's where I have a problem:
-If I create Entity Model basing on databaseAdmin tables I get perfect model, however every Entity SQL query would be executed on behalf of databaseAdmin, which breaks my idea of hiding unnecessary tables.
-If I create Entity Model for HR and Manager users, my models could overlap on tables that both users have access to and no connection between tables would be generated (as from their point of view those tables are just some tables that belong to databaseAdmin)
Could you help me with this deadlock? Or maybe my assumptions about multiple database users are incorrect? Please, bear in mind I'm a novice.
I was trying to find a solution in web, and there're tons of data discussing technical aspects of Entity Framework etc., but not so many documents about conceptual model of database.

    hi Michael,
    Thanks for you posting!
Sorry for I am not totally understanding your issue. Maybe two points need your confirm:
    1. I confuse with the "Service controller"? IS your meaning MVC controller? Or ServiceController(http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/31688/Using-the-ServiceController-in-C-to-stop-and-start
2.whether  The type of ID in the model is match to the database ? In other words, Is the type of IDin .edmx matched to the database?
By the way, it seems that this issue is more related to EF. You could post this issue on EF discussion for better support.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Will

  • Send Notification to Multiple Internal Users

    Hi everybody,
how can i send an email to Multiple Internal Users in BPM which are not known at design time?
I know i can use an expression, but i have a collection of type string (EmployeeID's). I can use the method getPrincipalByUniqueName(EmployeeID,"user") but employeeID is a collection and this method expected a single string.
    regards,
    Sid

    Hi Anil,
my BPM-WebService will be called with a Request parameter:
    users (1..*)
    userID (string)
So at Run Time i get a collection or array with userID's like: SD4711, AN4712....
If i use getPrincipalByUniqueName("SP4711","user") i get the right user but i have a collection, so what could i do?
I can determine the interface by my self, so it is not a problem to change the interface if it is necessary.
How can i use getPrincipals(Sting(1..*) principalID)?
    regards,
    Sid

No, it's not the only way. Prepare a CSV file with the necessary
information and use it to drive the process
    Something like this:
    import-csv | foreach {
    get-user $_ | enable-mailbox

  • Mapping between multiple portal user with single R/3 user

    Hi,
It is possible to map  multiple portal user to the single R/3 user? If yes, than what is procedure to achieve it? It is possible to logon same time more than one portal user which is mapped with same R/3 user in production system?
    Thanks,
    Kundan

you can always do that using user mapping in user admin->identity management
where for each user details you get a tab  called user mapping.
you have to create a R3 system in system admin and a give a system alias to it
Use this system alias in user mapping /
You can map multiple portal users with a single R3 user and can work parallelly.
But make sure that you have proper license in doing that.

  • Multiple Unique Users with Limited Authority

    Hello,
I'm wondering if it is possible to have multiple unique users, each with permissions to view the data collected for that form, but not edit the form itself.
    For example:
User A is the master user. They create form "1234". User B can fill out the fields in the form, and view the data collected on that form. They cannot change the fields. User A can view and edit the data and form as necessary.
User A creates another form "5678". User C  can fill out the fields in the form, and view the data collected on that form. They cannot change the fields. User A can view and edit the data and form as necessary.
Is this possible with Adobe forms central.
    Thanks!

Yes, there are 2 ways to approach this:
    #1 -
You can share the form with other collaborators. You do this by selecting the Share button in the lower left corner of the form file, select Add Collaborators then enter the email address of the users you want to share it with. Make them have a role of "Reader" by selecting it in the drop-down in the upper right corner of the dialog. The users you invite will be able to access the form file by logging in with their Adobe ID/password (a free FormsCentral account), and will only be able to view the responses and summary report.
    #2 -
You can publish the form. You do this by selecting the Share button in the lower left corner of the form file, select Publish, then select if you wantto share response, summary report or both. Copy the link and email it to anyone you want to view the results (they can only view the responses/report, not modify). When you publish users do not need  log in with their Adobe ID/password. The can view just by clicking the link you published.
Each form file has its own sharing and publishing options. The author of a form always has complete control over the form they created.
