Multiple photos in dropzone creates erratic slideshow effect.

I've used the Reflections theme in iDVD 6 successfully before but now with iDVD 7.01 I cannot put more than one photo in each drop zone on the Main page. When I do, instead of cycling through each photo in a slideshow like manner, it instead flashes through the pictures at half second intervals. The overall effect is incredibly jarring and nothing like the serene reflective approach in the iDVD 6 version.
I've had the same result with both my Powerbook 1.5GHz with 10.4.11 and my MacBook 2.2 with 10.5.1, both maxxed out on ram.
I've done the delete .plist restart thing and removed the 07 themes. No effect.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, that's the received wisdom for the slideshow running too fast but that's not the problem.
It's in the Main page "fly-by" of the reflections windows where the bug seems to be in iDVD08 (version 7).
In iDVD6 if you put multiple photos in any of the drop boxes then depending on how many photos and how long the audio was, they would rollover to fresh slides progressively throughout the "fly-by". Changing the duration of the music or the amount of pictures enabled you to fine tune where the transitions happened.
In iDVD08, each window flashes to the next picture every half second or so regardless of whether there is two or twentytwo pictures and likewise with the length of the audio. With eight windows doing that all at once as they fly-by, it looks like iDVD is on crystal meth.
Since the original post I've tried it out on my iMac with Tiger and same result.
It can't be just me. Three different Macs with both Leopard and Tiger yet they all flip out on the White Reflections theme in iDVD08.
Try it. Just drag half a dozen pictures from your the iPhoto pane into one of the drop-zones on the main page and then click the run button. I reckon you'll see the effect straight away.

  • How can I create a collage of multiple photos on one slide using Premiere Elements 4.0?

    Hi all!
I recently bought Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0. I'm having trouble with something and was wondering if anyone could offer any assistance?
I'm creating a slideshow using photos and videos, but with my photos I want to be able to create a few collages, by using multiple photos on the one slide. Usually you just have one photo on the screen and it moves on to the next one, but I'd like to have eg. the occassional slide that I can have say 4 photos overlapping onto each other, like a photo collage. Does this make sense and does anyone know how I can do this? I've searched the instructions and can't figure it out and the Adobe support line said they couldn't tell me but pointed me to this forum...
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks :)

There are basically two ways, with a variation, to do this.
First, you could size the still images in Photoshop, or other, for the size needed on your Project's screen and then use Motion to position the image where you want it. The variation on this would be to use Motion>Scale to size the image and then Motion to place it where you wanted. You would stack the images on various Video Tracks as necessary.
The other way would be to place the images on the correct Video Track and use the Track Matte to limit the view of that image. You will probably use one of the two variations from the first way (Motion>Scale and/or Motion) to get the image where you want it, but then the Track Matte (building in Titler is easy) to eliminate any extraneous image data.

  • I have created a slideshow using i Photo. How do I burn it to disc so that I can play it on my DVD?

I have created a slideshow using i Photo.
How do I burn it to disc to play on a DVD.
    I cannot access i DVD.
    Is this the problem?
I have exported the slideshow as a movie quick time file.
    What do I do next???

If your Mac is a new one, like mine, then it comes with a version of iLife that doesn't have iDVD and if so, there isn't an easy way to burn a DVD from iPhoto or iMovie that will play on a normal DVD player.  There is quite a bit of correspondence about this, but I couldn't find a good answer, apart from this:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18460085#18460085
I ended up buying (via Amazon) a boxed version of iLife11, which has all the same software I already have, but with a copy of iDVD with it.
Seems to work well with iMovie, but at the moment, my copy of iPhoto has crashed - see:

Having only just transferred from a Windows machine to a Mac, it seems incredibly arrogant for Apple to think people don't use DVD players anymore.

How can I create a slideshow that depicts only a version of a photo rather than the original?   Since the original and new versions are saved together, the aperture slideshow often choices the original rather than the desired version to display.

There are two things we use the name "Slideshow" for in Aperture:  a Slideshow Album, used for making Slideshows, and the Slideshow that is made.  (Imho, it is a design mistake to not call the containers used to create Slideshows, Books, etc., "Albums".)
The Slideshow will use the Album Pick from any Stack.  A good way to use Aperture is to promote the Image you want to regularly use (such as, for example, a Version with adjustments) to the top of the Stack.  This makes it the Stack Pick, and will be the default Album Pick.  If you haven't done that, you can still change the Album Pick for any Stack in a Slideshow Album.  Expand your Stack(s), select the Image in each Stack that you want to be the Album Pick (and thus shown in the Slideshow), and "Stacks➞Set Album Pick".  (Note the keyboard shortcut; there is also a Toolbar icon for this.)  The change is immediate.  The Slideshow will always show the Album Pick (or, if there is not one, the Stack Pick) for every Stack in your Slideshow Album.

  • How do I create multiple photo albums?

I was curious as to how I can create multiple photo albums using only the iPhone 4. I found out a way to creat "one" album. But I can't even change the name of it and it's not very useful if I can only create one album. I have a lot of pictures on my phone and I would like to sort them out. I use Windows 7 not a Mac. (Wish I had one though)
Also, will the iOS 5 allow users to create photo albums using only the phone? The current OS doesn't seem to allow it.
    Thanks for your time!

I should have fiddled with my computer more. I figured it out by creating a "Master" folder. And inside that folder contains more folders with my organized pictures. But, would still like to be able to do this all on the phone. That would make the iPhone just THAT much more simple.

  • Which is better for creating multiple photo albums, MAC or PC?

I know next to nothing about the IPAD. I don't want to spend the money to buy a MAC if my PC will do the job. I need to create multiple photo albums on an Ipad. Is that possible with a PC? Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
I don't find some informations how to make a slideshow where I can use my .jpg photos AND my .mov vidoes - both are coming from my Panasonic Digitalcamera.
I bought PSE9 because everywhere is written that this is the right product to create a slideshow / Diashow... with photos and vidoes.
But if I want use the "Diashow" I get the information that this is only for windows player and all my .mov videos which I can play in the PSE9 are NOT in the Diashow.
Knows everyone how I can come further with my holidayvideo???
    Thanks in advance

guess PRE will work fine for your mov files. ...

  • Using iDVD, I've no problem creating a slideshow, but I want to add three seperate sound files, in this case speeches I've got in iTunes. I want to create three individual buttons/sub menu to access them individually from the photos. Can anyone help

Using iDVD I've no problem creating a slideshow, but am having problems trying to add three seperate sound files in this case three speeches that I hold in iTunes. I want to be able to access them individually and seperately from the photo slideshow. Can anyone advise if this can be done and if it can, how I go about creating the seperate menu and buttons.

If you'd like to integrate the speeches with the slideshow, I'd do that in iMovie where you'll have more control over the timing.  Use chapter markers at the beginning of each speech so the viewer can jump to a particular speech (note that chapter markers advance the viewer to a particular spot -- the viewer keeps watching the rest of the video until the end of everything or until they use the remote's menu button).
If you're just wanting the speeches to be on the DVD so people can listen to the speeches after seeing your slideshow, you could:
    - use iDVD or iMovie to make a "slideshow" with just 1 image matching the length of a speech.
    - create three submenus and use the speeches as menu music.  Here's a (random) video on creating submenus:

  • How to shuffle photos when creating a slideshow?

When I click the slideshow button on an album I have the option to shuffle photos, but do not have the same option when I create a slideshow. I want to save the slideshow; can I save a slideshow played after using the slideshow button? Or how can I shuffle photos in my album instead of having them listed by date?

    Thxs.
I too just tried to shuffle all the photos in a new slidehsow and the "Shuffle Slide Oer" is grayed out and does NOT allow me to select this very, very important option!!!
    What's up w/That???

  • Pulling photos out of finder for creating a slideshow

Is it possible to pull photos out of the Finder to create a slideshow?

On the machine on your signature yes.  You can use the Preview application to open all the photos in a folder, and create a slideshow once they have loaded.
On a Classic Mac operating system from 14 years ago, I recommend using http://www.lemkesoft.com/ GraphicConverter, or the postcard ware:

  • How do I create a cameo effect on certain photos in either iPhoto or aperture?

How do I create a cameo effect on selected photos in aperture?

how do I check to see if I have  lay=test version?
When you select Aperture in the Applications folder in the Finder, the version should show below the Aperture icon:
    The latest version is 3.4.5.
Well it looks like I now have lost my aperture library, had to open iphoto to use it.!
Have you opened your Aperture ibrary with a version of iPhoto that is newer than your Aperture version? The versions of Aperture and iPhoto must be compatible, to be able to use the same photo library with both applications. To use both Aperture and iPhoto on the same library you would need to have iPhoto 9.4.3 and Aperture 3.4.5.

  • I've created a slideshow. Some of the photos are "zoomed in " too much. How do I zoom back out?

I created a slideshow but some of the photos need to be adjusted (zoomed out) how do I do that with individual photos in the slideshow?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what slideshow theme are you using?
    when did this issue start?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
