Multiple problems when exporting 16:9 HDV using Quicktime Conversion

Hello,
I am trying to export a 41-minute long video so that I can post it online. It is in 16:9 HDV Widescreen format, and the computer I am using is an iMac G5 2.1Ghz PowerPC with 2.5GB of RAM. I've been having the following issues so far:
1. It doesn't export the entire video when exporting to WMV. It stops after only a few minutes of exporting, and then when I check it to see how it came out, only the first few minutes of my video are there.
2. When exporting using Quicktime Conversion to being an actual Quicktime file (.mov), it starts but then it stops at 7% and the "Estimated Time" increases from "about 2 minutes", to "about 5 hours"...and then THAT increases a few minutes later to "about 7 hours". I've already increased my memory to 2.5GB (which unfortunately is the most amount that my computer can fit).
3. So far, for .mov, .divx, .wmv, .m4v, and .mp4, I've been having a lot of trouble trying to figure out the exact settings that I should be using for 16:9 widescreen (dimensions, formats, etc). A lot of times, the video has become 4:3, with the video itself stretched from top to bottom (it looks very weird like that).
Any ideas on what I should do?
Thanks.

Hi,
I have the same problem and I can't believe Apple did not think about that. Each time I'm doing a 16:9 movie, it doesn't work with QuickTime conversion.
Read this site, it might help you. I'm gonna try the solution they're talking about.

Please help. When exporting a 720p video using Quicktime Conversion in FCP it saves some extra temporary files to my computer. The temporary file it saves is called ICMMultiPassStorage. This file gets so large that eventually the program and exporting process crashes. I have been able to locate the file using GrandPerspective and close out of FCP to delete it. But when I try exporting the movie again it creates the ICMMultiPassStorage file again. I have made sure my scratch disks are set to my external hard drive so I know that isn't the issue. How do I fix this problem so these temporary files are not being stored on my internal hard drive instead of my external? Thanks!

Try exporting the timeline "using current settings" via Make QuickTime Movie, then submit that clip to Compressor for the transcode. This should be faster and less painful.

  • Problems in Exporting in FCEx HD using Quicktime Conversion

I am currently editing video footage for web delivery using Final Cut Express HD and am having problems with the export using Quicktime conversion. When exporting to a Quicktime movie, there are no problems with the export. When exporting to MPEG-4 using Quicktime conversions, the audio is fine but the video image is very choppy and quality is significantly reduced. Is there a filter I need to apply to enhance the video for MPEG-4? Are there specific settings that work best with MPEG-4 in H.264?
    Thanks for the help

MPEG-4 export only works in specific frame sizes. The greater the image size the higher the data rate you'll have to use to produce a good quality image. The quality of the compression is going to be to a substantial degree dependent on the quality of the original recording and the original compression.
YouTube uses Flash video for delivery BTW, not MPEG-4.

  • Changing frame rate when exporting from iMovie '09 using quicktime has no impact on duration.  Why?

Changing frame rate when exporting from iMovie '09 using quicktime has no impact on duration.  Why?
I have a file created by digitizing an 8mm film at a rate of 24 fps. I would like to create a downloaded movie at a frame rate of 15 fps.  The Export using Quicktime option seems to provide that capability but the resulting file has the same duration as the original 24 fps file.  How can I get the exported movie to be slowed down?

    joegez,
There is a feature you can use to slow down the video. In the project, move the mouse pointer over the clip, then click the gear icon. That brings up the Inspector. Click the Clip tab. Then you will see a feature there called Speed. Move the slider to the left to slow down the clip. Or you can enter a percentage in the box on the right.
Hope this solves the problem for you.

  • Multi line hyperlinks problem when exporting to PDF

I have a problem with hyperlinks i multiple lines when exporting a InCopy document to PDF. Its only the first line of the hyperlink that actually gets convertet to a link in the PDF file, the second line is just text.
Is this a known problem and is there a fix or a workaround?
We are using fully pached InCopy CS5 and Acrobat 9.

Is there are a real hyperlink there or are you counting on Acrobat to convert it for you?

  • Having problems when exporting .swf file as an animated gif

    Hi:
I was wondering if anyone has ever had any issues exporting a
flash file as an animated gif? When I do so, the image quality is
very compromised and the animation is distorted. I know this is not
very specific question, but I have never encountered this issue
before, and I am trying to help a co-worker. I don't understand why
it looks exactly the way we want it to look as an swf file, but not
as an animated gif? Can anyone point me in the right direction as
to what to look for as the potential source of this problem? I have
the swf file, although this would not be very helpful as I don't
have access to the flash file (but I can send it to you if that
would help). We tried unchecking the feature to optimize the image,
and changed the color pallete to adaptive, but this didn't solve
the problem. I also tried removing any unnecessary layers prior to
the export. Basically, I'm not sure as to how to proceed and what
may be causing the problem. I also want to mention there is a
placed image on the stage. Could the type of image placed be
causing the problem when exporting to a gif file, but not as a
.swf? If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.
    Sara

I also wanted to mention that the swf file uses sound. I am
reading an old book that I have on Flash and it's saying that Flash
and Shockwave Flash enter a special mode when they encounter a
stream sound in which the animation is forced to keep up with the
sound track, if the animation frames can not be drawn quickly
enough, some frames are skipped. I am also reading that the
animated gif format does not support sound. Again, the only
reference I have is for a very old version of flash, and I'm not
sure it applies to CS3. I am now just thinking that the sound may
    be the issue.

  • Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 crashes when using QuickTime conversion export

Our copy of Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 has started to crash when exporting using QuickTime Conversion. It gets about 66% complete, then dumps out. I have updated FCP using Software Update and QT to the latest version. Any ideas why this happening? Pro Kit 4.5 installed. QuickTime Pro 7.4.5
My previous post had the wrong version of FCP. Dyslexia sets in.

    Erik:
quite often during render I get the error messages "The specific file is in use by another application"
    Check this Apple doc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302790
I think that was solved with 10.4.10.
About the crash problem, you would post the system configuration of that computer.
    Hope that helps !

  • Problem when exporting to Vimeo I get message "The share operation has failed. Quicktime error: -50" The file only gets to 8% before this happens any idea how to fix I have a movie deadline to meet!

    Hi all,
    Finished editing a short movie.
Then went to share on vimeo but got this message - see also screenshot when I tried to export to desktop.
Problem when exporting to Vimeo I get message "The share operation has failed. Quicktime error: -50" The file only gets to 8%.
Have tried deleting my render files for the project and also another fix mentioned of deleting any black space files on the edit itself but neither work?
Just upgraded to OS Mavericks could this be causing it? If so how to downgrade?
    thanks
    Louis B

Thanks for your help both, I called Apple tech support and spoke to a really helpful chap called Andrea who helped me out. Now got my Master file sorted and am trying Vimeo upload again.
Just to clarify points for people out there with the same issue:
    First steps
    - Ensure background rendering is turned off in preferences
    - Delete project and events render files
    - If upgraded to Mavericks then go to FCPX in finder under applications hit buttons 'CMD' and 'I' together and tick the 'prevent App Nap' box.
    Next Steps
I had already done all of this when Apple Tech spoke to me so we discussed the message 'Quicktime -50' and what it meant. It wasnt a purely generic error message but was not detailed enough to point to one specific issue. This problem had occurred in previous years (so Mavericks not wholly to blame) and patches were issued over the years by Apple to help resolve some of the problems.
The message essentially is indicating that there is a problem somewhere with the media in some way shape or form.
My export went to 8% then failed. Apple's answer was that the project settings were corrupted in some way.
So what they suggested (so simple I could kick myself) was to select all the media files by 'CMD + A' then copy them 'CMD + C' then create and open a new project timeline, and then paste in 'CMD + V'.
Then we tried export again this time to a master file with some settings detailed by Apple.
The difference now was it got to 40% then failed but due to a different reason 'error -1 frame 10124 error'
At last we get past the project issues and into the event media issues, it seems that when I loaded the compact flash last night, the iMac kept ejecting the reader so had to copy files over quickly and seems that some of the file clip I used although showed on the viewer, didn't seem to have loaded all the correct media, so selecting this clip frame 10124 on the viewer I found that it showed as red on the frame row which implied an issue. So I simply bladed it off and deleted it.
Then I reran the export to Master file and it worked, though jumping from 40% to 100% complete was a shock to me!
Now am trying the export to Vimeo - hope this helps some of you out there. Worst case pick up the phone to Apple and speak to the Final Cut Pro guys they can help.
    best wishes,
    Louis B

  • Final cut pro problem when exporting with quicktime movie

    Hello!
I must have som help beacuse my musicmovie must be finsihed untill today. I have a movie their i had used filters like colour correction and interlace. When i export with USING QUICKTIME CONVERSION and have
    keyfram 10
    bitrate 6000
    faster encode
    size 1920x1080 HD 16:9
its not a problem the movie works fine all the way.
But when i export with QUICKTIME MOVIE it dosent work. Some clips are frozen and some are beeing misscoloured. None of them have interlace. Its the same clips that dosent work everytime i had export with QM. I have tried to replace these clips but the same thing is happening. I dont understand why i cant use quicktime movie but it works with quicktime conversion.
If you have an e-mail i can send you just the part where this happening.
    Please help me!
    Thanks Gabriel

I am also expriencing the same error. Tried every solution listed so far:
    1. Switch off background rendering. Trash render files. Don't render. Export.
    2. copying the project within Final Cut Pro into another project
    3. remove the following folder: Library > Application Support > ProApps > MIO > RADPlugins > XDCAMFormat.RADPlug
Nothing worked. I try to export to Vimeo, YouTube, and master. All error right at 9%
    What's going on?

  • No Audio when I export using quicktime conversion

    Hi,
This problem has just started. In my time line my movie places with both audio and video. When I try to export it using quicktime conversion I get a file with video but no audio. If I go to the audio settings button and click preview, I hear nothing. I have exported using the exact same settings many times before without problems.
If I export the file using quicktime movie, I get both audio and video.
This is driving me crazy, Can anyone help? Thanks!

I got no audio on the DVD when I exported from FCE using the Quicktime Movie setting. I finally determined it was because my audio was at 44.1k Hz. I upsampled to 48k and there was sound on the final DVD. This is not normally a problem when input comes from a camera, but if you are doing a DVD of a Keynote presentation and adding separate sound to it from a CD, this becomes a problem.
Certainly no more than a little annoying that there's nothing said during the FCE export that this audio won't be exported. It's just not there.

  • Problem when exporting Universe to Enterprise

    Hi All,
I am facing problem when exporting universe to enterprise. I am getting the following error.
"You do not have the right to add objects to the folder /webi universes" .
    1) I tried logging with admin account still getting the same error.
    2) I tried adding my user id to admin group but still has the same problem.
I did not make any new changes to security. Do not know what might be the reason. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Environment: BOXI 3.1, windows server 2003.
    Thanks and Regards
    Sudharsan.

    Hi Prasanna,
    1) I checked the rights on universes for Administartors and Everyone for webi universes folder :
    Universe Security:
          a) Administartors:  Private
          b) Everyone has public.
    User Securtiy:
          a) Administrator : has full access
          b) Everyone : No access
    2) I tried adding my user id to admin group and exported it, but no luck. I also brought a new user into the system (thinking that i might have some restrictions some where)  and added him to admin group and tried with his user id too but still has same problem.
    Thanks

  • [svn:fx-gumbo_beta2] 10484: Fix for autoCenter problem when Move/ Resize effects are used.

    Revision: 10484
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-09-21 19:38:14 -0700 (Mon, 21 Sep 2009)
    Log Message:
Fix for autoCenter problem when Move/Resize effects are used. autoCenterTransform calculates the center dynamically, using the current width/height of the target. This calculation can be one frame off if a Resize effect is running in parallel with the transform effect. Also, containers do their validation lazily, so they need to be forced to validate in order to have an up-to-date width/height. This fix addresses these problems by reordering the effects in a Parallel hierarchy to put the Resize effects (and composite effects containing Resize) at the front of the set of effects and by calling validateNow() on the target of a transform effect prior to calculating the transform center (if appropriate).

Have you tried trashing your preferences in FCP? Trashing FCP prefs is usually the first step when FCP is performing strangely.

  • Export using QuickTime Conversion + SMB automount problems

I have noticed an interesting (read bad) behavior in FCP (5.0.4) - If I try to do an export using quicktime conversion with the destination being an automounted (via netinfo) smb share as opposed to a apple-k mounted share in m4v, 3g, mp4, image sequence, still image or quicktime movie - I get a File Error: Unknown Folder. However if I do the same export but in avi, wmv, dv stream, or flc formats, it works fine.
Trying to do the same export operation in quicktime pro produces an error -120, which is equivalent to directory not found.
Seems like a quicktime problem dealing with the automounted shares, anyone else run into this issue? Have a fix?
    Thanks!
    C M I

I know I can save locally + that it is tied to the quicktime components - I'm looking for fix/workaround that addresses the issue and streamlines my workflow, thats the reason I set up the automounter in the first place.
So it's clear though, quicktime has no problem with smb in a general sense, it only has problems w/ the automounted smb shares - manual or command+k mounting of smb shares offer no problems.
I use the automounting for two reasons: first is to emulate unc paths for rush render queue and second is to have consistent working paths to static content on a file server so final cut docs can be passed from editor to editor and link consistently.
