Multiple problems with installation and stop frame animation

I have just spent 24 hours of increasing frustration trying to install and use On Location. I recently bought a Matrox RTX 2 Premiere CS3 desktop edit suite. On Location recognises any camera I attach via the drop down menu but will never display a video image or activate any capture commands. An afternoon with my dealer's tech support did not find a solution.
Next I tried installing it on my Vaio laptop. It would not display the menu bar, but components would display, my camera was recognised, and I managed to capture avi type 2 files in mpeg at 1080i PAL. These will play back on the laptop in media player but crash Premiere when I import them. Matrox say these files should be supported. After these tests, OnLocation began to crash the Vaio as soon as I plugged in a camera. The Vaio presents a black screen and the OS freezes completely, requiring a hard boot for recovery.
I have uninstalled it and attempted to install it in a brand new Vista HP laptop. The install crashes during activation. After 3 uninstall/reinstall attempts I gave up. I will now start again with a fresh install on the Vaio. Will report back if I make any progress today. Any suggestions meanwhile would be much appreciated.
The holy grail, by any means possible, is to capture stop frame animations in HDV 1080i PAL format. I need one laptop to work for capture, then to transfer the animation files to the desktop for editing.

Hi Martin, Sorry to hear you're having such problems. I have no experience with Matrox system, so I cannot speak directly to compatibility with OnLocation CS3. For both computers, I'd be interested in seeing the system specs. If you're willing, how about sending the dxdiag file for each to me at [email protected] I'll see if anything jumps out at me. One detail that does not compute is your reference to recoring "avi type 2 files in mpeg at 1080i PAL." HDV content cannot be recorded to the AVI format. The only options are MPG and M2T. If the clips are indeed AVIs, then the camera must have been set to the DV mode. As for OnLocation crashing the computer so badly that a hard reboot is necessary, that generally points to some deeper problem in the computer's drivers or BIOS. When it gets into that state, have you tried bringing up Windows Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESCAPE) and killing the OnLocation process? I'm wondering if the system isn't totally locked up but appears to be so because on this low res display, OnLocation has basically taken over the whole display, so when it fails to launch, you can't see any other Windows controls. If this is the case, then deleting the AppProps file here: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\OnLocation CS3. btw, the reason you see no menu bar is that the laptop's display is at the minimum for OnLocation CS3 (1024x768, if memory serves). The menu is shown only at higher display resoltions.

Hi, I have a problem with the installation of Adobe Muse.
I had a free 30-days trial, when it was over I bought the product ($ 13 per month),
I installed the program again and I see the same window with the finished Trials
and it requires a serial number and does not allow to enter the program.
I installed the program on your PC wife without any problems, but I can not install it on a laptop.
I have a laptop with Windows 8 operating system.
What I've done:
1. Uninstalled the free program,
2. check the connection to the Internet,
3. has installed a new program from the official website adobe.com,
4. Remove the line for the activation of the hosts file and resave the file,
5. turned off the brandmower,
6. rebooted.
I can't get support for a 3 days, is it the most terrible support I've ever seen? I dunno

Problem with Installer and DVD drive

I am having problems with my dvd combo drive reading discs. It keeps spitting them out. More importantly, I am trying to load Adobe Illustrator CS2 and cannot get all the wat through the installation proccess. Is there a patch I am not aware of??

You could be looking at some kind of driver corruption issue (say if that sector on your hd had gone bad, or the file was dorked somehow). Have you done repaired permissions on the hd recently?
Do all types of DVDs fail -- music, movies, and apps? If some work and others do not, then it could be a problem with a particular app.
It never hurts to check the cables. Insufficient data or power can cause all kinds of problems.

IPhone 3GS multiple problems with calls and text

I have AT&T for service provider and I am having these problems with the THIRD Iphone 3Gs that I have received since Jan 12.
I turned off 3GS again after newest update, not sure if it willl help or not.
Also, I have the same problems with this phone as previous 2 Iphones I got at Apple Stores:
* sporadically drops calls - even if I don't move from the spot I originally called from. This is my only phone, so I need to make and receive any calls to this phone.
*"Searching", "No Service", so text messages don't get sent, but I don't know that unless I check back to see the red ! and I keep trying to resend...
* No SIM card - but, only know this if I check, not good when busy and waiting for a call or text.
Do I need to go to an Apple store again (not nearby me) to replace it before my replacement warranty runs out?

Try powering the phone off, then removing and replacing the battery, and powering the phone back on.
Then try dialing *228 send and option 2 on the phone to update the PRL.
Then try closing down applications that you are not using on the device.
From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
Touch Settings.
Touch Applications.
Touch Running services.
Touch a service you are not using then.
Touch Stop.
From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
Touch Settings.Touch Applications.Touch Running services.
Touch a service you are not using then.
Touch Stop.
Repeat steps as needed.

Multiple problems with itunes and ipod touch

I don't even know where to begin explaining all the problems I've had with itunes and my ipod touch, along with the troubleshooting that I've done to no avail. Now, I'm totally frustrated. So, here I am hoping that I can get some help from someone. I spent almost $400 for my ipod touch and don't want to have to give up on it.
First, in case you need to know, I have the latest version of iTunes (10.2.2.14), an iPod Touch. My Windows edition is Windows Vista with Service Pack 2. My system has the following:
     Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard Company
     Model: m9150f
     Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU   Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
     Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB
     System type: 32-bit Operating System
Next, in order to simplify what I have to say, I'll just briefly tell you what problems I've encountered, what I've done, and the results:
     1.     iPod not displayed in Computer when plugged into USB port
     2.     no device displayed in iTunes
     3.     unable to sync music and photos from my computer to iPod
     4.     have gone through and completed all troubleshooting two times to no avail
     5.     lost all settings and apps on my iPod and can't restore and/or retrieve them (my fault for erasing the info)
     6.     can't get iTunes to recognize(?) my iPod, after plugging it into the the USB port, in order to possibly restore it to working order
If I haven't provided enough info, please let me know.
I'll appreciate any help that you can give in order to resolve these issues.

Problem with LoadVars and stopping/playing

I've got a flash movie set up online that isn't working
properly. The details are this: the movie has two frames, the first
being a blank loading frame meant to keep anything from being
displayed till the variables are delivered by my PHP script, and
the second being the frame with the actual movie content.
The actionscript I use on the first frame is as follows:

that when played, the program stops indefinitely on frame 1. I have

past frame 2 (the content) and back to the loading frame, where it
then loads the variables and plays like it's supposed to.

The first time flash attempts to do the loading, there
appears to be a 301 redirect from images4u.com to www.images4u.com
for the requested text data.
This then appears to sent... but then flash requests a
crossdomain.xml file from www.images4u.com and it receives none
(404 not found).
At that point I assume that the LoadVars onLoad does not
trigger.
The second time around it requests it from the
www.images4u.com domain and there is no problem - it doesn't seem
to need a crossdomain.xml permission.
So the problem is with the redirect. I don't know exactly the
solution. I would guess either make the request from flash to
www.images4u.com/etcetera or put a crossdomain.xml at your sites
root covering both www.images4u.com and images4u.com in terms of
permissions.

Multiple problems with iphone and itunes

Long time iphone and mac user here. We have 5 iphones in our family and 4 mac computers. I am fairly competent with them. That said we have nothing but problems when trying to get our iphones to sync or update through itunes. Today i had just had enough so i am spending the day trying to resolve all of the random errors we are getting. This isn't up to Apple's usual quality standards. We have an iphone 5 and an iphone 4 synced to a windows 7 64bit. The issues below are with the iphone 5. All software updates for phone, itunes, and pc have been done. I have uninstalled itunes, cleaned reg, then reinstalled just now. (this resulted in new errors...).
Here are my issues:
1. SQLlite.dll error (fixed this one myself by copying the files)
2. The iphone could not be backed up becuase the back up is not compatible or is corrupted error - can't back up iphone manually over wifi or cable
3. The iphone could not be synced becuase the iphone could not be found on the network - this just started when i resinstalled itunes. i've plugged and unplugged the phone about a dozen times, restarting the computer and phone each time. We've had problems getting our phones to sync for a while now but usually we can get it to work by plugging/unplugging over and over again, but not anymore.

Okay here's the entire deal it's my gf's Mac and we used to use it together I would sync on her labtop but now we are having issues and she continues to take my phone when I'm sleeping and connect it to iTunes and then proceed to go through all my things. So basically is there anyway I can remove my phone of iTunes or maybe have a pass code on iTunes for my phone so in order for it to be synced there has to be a passcode entered? Or just is there a way to stop this from happening?

My interactive form is a hot mess (multiple problems with javascript and formcalc)

I have been working on a dynamic expense report form for our company but have run into a number of problems. I would appreciate help with any of these!
Problem 1:
Last subform: Table 4 (Miscellaneous Expenses) - This subform does not force down the footer section (signature, comments) like the other subforms do. The table is located in a positioned subform inside a flowed subform. The other 3 tables have no problem pushing the data down.
Problem2:
The minus button on the tables (to subtract a row) USED to work but now do not.The minus button on EVERY table is broken.
Problem 3:
The add row button still works fine on most of the tables (with exception of the last table, MISC Expenses). If I add a few lines to the last subform it seems the buttons stops working altogether past row 3. you have to add 2 rows to the final table (Misc Expenses) to see what I mean. It seems to me that this problem is probably related to Problem 1 somehow.
Problem 4:
Can't get GRAND TOTAL working no matter what I try.

The sourrounding subform "Table4Subform" is not set to fit the hight automatically.
Problem 2.
The remove script is way to complex, use this script instead:

Remove the Grouping "Body", then the subform flow crrectly to the next page.
Problem 4:
The reference to the total fields are not correct, that's why the grand total script fails.

Sum(Table1Subform.Table1.FooterRow.Total1, Table23Subform.Table2.FooterRow.Total2, Table23Subform.Table3.FooterRow.Total3, Table4.FooterRow.Total4)

Problems with Installation and then with the direct links...

Well.. the problem is that I tried to install flash player, and in the middle of the Download it gets to 47% and says: "The download time has expired" and closes the download and open me in the web explorer to a troubleshooting page... I go to the error selecting the issue of the download and the solution is that I have to download the Flash Player from another page with direct links of the Player and there's the thing... The links are not working...
The page says "The connection was reset". I hope that you can help me with this problem.

Multiple Problems with Q5 and BB10

Hi,
I really thought I should register on this forum to let people know about my recent deteriorating opinion of the Q5 and BB10 in general. I've been a BlackBerry user for the last 7 or so years and also own a PlayBook. I'm a massive BB supporter and I was really excited when I got my Q5 last year and at first I couldn't fault it. But in recent weeks, the user experience has deteriorated massively. Could it be something to do with the recent BB10 updates (I'm running BB10.2.1.2101)? I don't know - but here's some of the issues I've been having:
Camera. The camera app is atrocious. Sure, when it works it's fine...but it is so temperamental. Most of the time it will not focus and still takes a blurry photo. Other times it just freezes while the flash is left permanently on, and the only way to reset it is to close the camera app. Most of the time, this does not help though and the phone must be restarted in order to use the camera app. Another trick is where the picture is taken and the image just freaks out and corrupts, also locking up the camera app and/or handset. Very poor.
Hub. The hub is a great idea...but why can't I delete messages in batches? I use Twitter and the Hub gets pretty clogged with messages from Twitter, but when I try to delete them all in a batch, the hub just glitches out and freezes. I restart the phone and some of the messages are gone...but I have to repeat this process over and over in order to get the messages down and usually just give up after a few hundred are gone. Deleting them individually is a long and time-consuming task that I shouldn't have to do when there's an option to delete all prior...that does not work.
Other issues: Just the usual stuff like the phone freezing, not letting me answer calls or hang up: after speaking to someone and they hang up, the Q5 stays connected to the line regardless of how many times you try to end the call (the little LED keeps flashing) and it results in me having - yet again - reset the device.
In all - BB10 has become a bit of a pain for me and totally flown in the face of what BlackBerry used to be about: quality. I'm seriously considering going to an Android device after using the Q5 for less than a year...

I have the same issues with the camera after the update. Anyone have any ideas?
Your HUB question about deleting multiple emails is already available. there is an option on the right side menu, when you select one message, to select multiple messages.
I am hoping downgrading the software updates fixes the camera problem

Multiple problems with control and screen sharing

First of all, I am having a weird problem while connected to a G5 Xserve that is running OS 10.4.5 and ARD version 3.2.1. When controlling the screen, I am unable to type. It only types the character "a" or "A" whenever I type any letter. Numbers are fine. The kicker here is if I use a different vpn server connection into the same machine (vine server), I can type fine. Has anyone experienced this problem?
My other issue is when attempting to connect to some clients using ARD, I cannot see thier screen. I receive an error message stating that Authentication failed. I can perform all other functions with ARD on those machines... but when trying to see thier screen... nothing. I can actually share my screen with them successfully though. They are not running any third-party vnc server which was my first thought.

I got all mine working without using root or going to the machines.
ssh into them and remove com.apple.RemoteManagement.plist with
rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteManagement.plist

Multiple problems with iTunes and iPhone Music

ok... so no one tell me to check and uncheck sync all, blah blah blah... I have done everything in every combination. I have disabled the "Show All Music" slider on my iPhone... I do not use the cloud for music, nor do I use iTunes Match.
It first started with my music app on the iPhone just darting from song to song, none of them playing except for a few random ones every now and then.
I unsynced my music from the iphone and resynced, which worked - but now I have over 1000 duplicates on my iPhone that are NOT in my iTunes.
When going back to unsync all songs, I am still left with over 1400 songs on my iphone "about" screen, yet iTunes says that there are no songs on the iPhone under "on this iPhone"
I am truly at my wits' end here. And from the looks of it, Apple has really screwed the pooch on this one.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all??? Will update as I continue to work on this mess.

Using Mattes and Masks to add real mouths to stop frame animation.

Hi all, I'm new to Final Cut Pro, having only really used Avid on PC in the past. I'm currently studying animation in my third year at university and I seem to have hit a stumbling block.
Basically I have created a short stop frame animation featuring various characters, movements and shots etc. From here I would like to be able to add 'real' mouths to those characters (by means of filming the lips/mouths of my voice actors in video format and super imposing them). So here's where it gets complicated (for me at least!).. Whilst I have read that it is possible to overlay sections of video upon original video using Mattes and Masks I haven't been able to find any instructions as to how I would be able to accomplish this with images which are moving around the screen (I.E. I would need to add a mouth to a character who is walking along a road, from left to right, and so I would need to be able to manipulate the location of the mouth so that it was always located over my characters face). I hope that my question makes some sense , I wont get my hopes up for a resolution, but this seems to be quite a busy board and I've managed to pick up a few tips from here recently so hey, worth a shot .

Forgot to mention that you'll have to keyframe the mask to move as well.
If the speach shots are not moving then you have definately made things much simplier for yourself.
For a simple example of keyframing. (Don't blame me if I confuse you further)
Load a clip in the viewer. (make sure that you have the canvas set to IMAGE and WIREFRAME.
Click the MOTION TAB in the viewer. Each of the Basic Motion attributes can be controled individually over a period of time. This is done by placing keyframes on the timeline to the right of each attribute.
Place the playhead (in the canvas) at the start of your clip, then press the round button in the Centre attribute section. The black dot added to the timeline is your first keyframe.
Now move the playhead further down the timeline and press the round button in the Centre attribute section again. Now click the imag in the Canvas and drag it to the right.
Now when you play the clip the shot will move left to right, one keyframe to the next.
That's it in a very small nutshell. And remember, almost any effect or motion can be keyframed.

My problems right now are in the assignment/removal of security groups on the newly-created folder, and the problems are two-fold. Yes, I am running this script as an Administrator.
First, I am unable to remove the BUILTIN\Users group from the folder when this is an office/location-specific folder. I've tried to remove the group in several different ways, and none are having any effect. Oddly, if I type in the lines directly
into Powershell, they work as expected. I've tried the following methods:

In the first case, the script goes through and has no apparent effect because afterwards, I do a get-acl and the BUILTIN\Users group is still there, although when looking through the GUI, inheritance appears to have been broken from the parent folder.
In the second case, I get the following error message:
Exception calling "RemoveAccessRuleAll" with "1" argument(s): "Some or all identity references could not be translated."

This seems strange that the local server is unable to translate the SID of a BUILTIN account. I've also tried explicitly putting in the BUILTIN\Users SID in place of the variable in the New-Object line, but that gives me the same error. I've
also tried the solutions given in this thread:

My second problem is when I try to apply the newly-created security groups, I also will get the "Some or all identity references could not be translated." I thought I had found a workaround to the problem by adding the -PassThru option to
the New-ADGroup commands, because it would output the SID of the group after creation, however a few lines later, the server is unable to translate the account to apply the security groups to the folder.
My first Powershell script has been working well up to this point and now I seem to have hit a showstopper. Any help is appreciated.

I was hoping to stay with strictly Powershell, but unless I can find a Powershell solution, I may resort to ICACLS.
As for the problems with my groups not being translatable right after creating them, I think I have solved this problem by using the -Server parameter on all my New-ADGroup commands and this example code seems to have gotten around the translation problem,
again utilizing the -Server parameter on the Get-ADGroup command:

Going this route seems to ensure that the Domain Controller I'm creating my groups on is the same one that I'm querying for the group's SID to use in the FileSystemAccessRule. It's been working fairly consistently.
Still having issues with the translation of the BUILTIN\Users group, though.

I have the MacIntosh volume and the Boot Camp partition only. I know that when I installed Lion, I had to go through a whole back-up and recovery of Windows and then re-format the drive.
The tech at the Apple Store had a previous life as a MSCE and was very helpful. I believe he even said that I should not have htis problem with Mountain Lion which is why they gave me the flash with it onboard. I was in the process of starting a new job when I went to Lion, so I have waited to do this next and probably last upgrade to this old MBP since I doubt Apple will support this MBP in Maverick.
I do not have another installation, so that is not an option. I will try to create an external, I have plenty of hard drives around and see if I can get it done that way. It might take me a week or two to get back to it, but I will comment back upon completion of that effort. Thanks for your help....Dave Iverson
