Multiple process start with terminal?

How do I open multiple programs at one? I need it to open an executable, leave it running, open another executable. I'm not sure how to do this branch thing in the terminal
I want to use this for an .sh script

If you want to run a program non-interactively, you can append "&" to the end of the line to send the process to the background, e.g.
somescript &
anotherscript &

Is there a way to return all the PIDs of processes starting with "Myapp_action_download" in a neat array in Applescript, so I can kill them using Terminal?
Something like this:

You'll have two lists one with the process name and one with the pid's. They will be in a one-to-one relationship. That is the first entry in the processList will correspond to the first entry in the pidList.
However if the apps aren't hung or in a weird state you should be able to just tell the process to quit without resorting to killing them.

And for this I guess that it is the backing up of my Podcasts - which are free downloads that causes the hang up. These are items that I have played and synced before without issues. I am thinking this way because these are Podcasts that I used to play but sundenly would not play on my iPhone. Each time I try to play anyone of them it generates the message - this movie could not be played.
I am scared of atempting a system restore because I guess I may lose my SMS for the past two months. Please approach the solution from this point of view.

I have started with writing c code on mac using xcode .....but one of my friend told me to use gcc for coding.
Why? If you are developing and writing code on a Mac why would you not use the tools Apple has given you? And Xcode, once you get use to it, is a very nice development environment that will make you life a whole lot easier.
If you insist on using an editor and the terminal I would recommend Emacs but it has a long learning curve so something like TextWrangler will work too.
As for the compiler if you have Xcode installed install the command line tools and you will be able to compile from the terminal.

Ans1) That is by design and default behavior. There is one watch-dog process and 2 webservd processes that get started by default. The first webservd is called primordial and the second child webservd is the one that actually serves all the HTTP requests.
Example:

6900 webservd -r /space/iws61sp2 -d ...
In this example, the pid 6898 is called the watchdog process,
6899 webservd process is called the primordial process
and the pid 6900 is called the child webservd process that actually serves all the HTTP requests.
Ans2) You would monitor the child webservd process.

KDE starts with terminal without any windows

I don't know whats happend,but one my user can't start normal KDE inerface,but he can start fluxbox

The settings got messed up. The files I had you move were the settings for KDE, and since they no longer existed where KDE could find them, all the settings reverted to default and KDE worked again. As I said, you can either set it all up again, or do your best to try to weed out the problem.
The problem is most likely with with the session settings, so perhaps you could try putting the old settings back(aka move the kde and kderc files in your home directory back to .kde and .kderc), and then doing `rm -r ~/.kde/share/config/session/` and trying to login again. If that does not work, and someone does not come around with an exact solution, you can just move or delete the files again and setup KDE again.

How to schedule multiple wakes up with Terminal

Hello,
I would like to schedule mutliple wakes up for my iMac, in order to keep the network connection, because after 6 hours of innactivity, it disconnects.
I've read that I could type:
pmset [repeat] [wake] [<MTWRFSU> <6:00:00>]
That way, eveyday at 6am it will wake from sleep. But is it possible to add other ones? If I want to wake my iMac every 4 hours during the day. And if so, how can I manage those settings if I want to remove some schedule wakes?

You should be able to do this with either Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!, which allow you to set up scheduled backups:

Searching Multiple Process instances

Guys,
is it possible to search for multiple process instances with a singly search query.
I need to search for all instances for process TestProcess1 & TestProcess2. Can i avoid calling the connectTo method twice.

Try this logic to hit the ProcessService component if you want to hit multiple processes. Included in this are two different techniques (see "loop 1" and "loop 2") for its use.
Note the "finally" ("on exit") logic at the bottom to disconnect. Don't forget to do this when using ProcessService.

Work process re-started , session terminated

Hi Gurus,
While i creating a purchase order (me21n) , the process runs for a while and then i am getting a SAP GUI message "Work process re - started , session terminated" and the session is closed.Can anyone give me the cause of the problem and solution for the same.

I Got the same problem but at that time i have installed GUI of lower version. WHen i have upgraded the GUI it worked fine. Better you check once the SAPGUI configuration.

Process.start("winword", filename) can not open file with space in the path and name

I am trying to write a class which can open file with selected application. for simplicity, now I just hard code the varaibles.
the problem: if the path or file name has space in it, even it exist, winword still can not open it.
could someone kindly show me what I did wrong and how to do it properly.

I am automating the process of sending appointment reminders to my clients. I started with an alert with an email in calendar using the clients email address as a custom entry in my me card in my contacts. this was resulting in three emails being sent with slightly different versions of the same address (see my previous post). Heating someone else's suggestion I created a workflow file to send an email and calling that file from an alert on my calendar. This is working and sends only one email to the client.
My calendar is on I cloud and I access it from three different computers so I can keep my appointment calendar current. The files that send the email only exist on one computer. My other computers show error messages when those emails get sent. It seems that each computer wants to send the email. It's a small problem but is there a way that I could not get those alerts.
But appreciate any thoughts about this. It seems like both problems might be related to the iCloud system.

I have restarted the PC, the iphone, changed the lightining cable and nothign resolves it: backup never completes.

Hi, I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. Same result
I even deleted the backup folder inside C:\Users\...\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to eliminate any corruption in the old backup files.
Nothing changed: Session either times out or i get the same error message: itunes could not back up iphone because iphone disconnected. It always happens during step 3 out of 4 which is "transfering purchased apps from iphone to PC" and comes after step 2 which is backup.
My iphone 5 is not jailbroken, and is a factory unlocked phone.
Any other suggestion?

Are you currently on ios 4? If so that's where the backup comes in. You'll need to restore your backup once the software is updated.

Unable to open PDF files with Adobe Reader v11.0, in Windows 8, using C# Process.Start()

I have been able to open PDF docs using C# API Process.Start("Full_path_To_the_PDF_File")
in windows 7 or windows 8 with all previous versions of Acrobat32 reader.
However, with v11.0, the same command, in Windows 8,
does not open the PDF document. I can see the Acrobat(32) started in the task manager,
but the document does open. Not sure how I can troble shoot
this problem.
As a test, I created ta batch file, with a simple command that calls AcroRD32.exe with a PDF file as a parameter. When I executed the batch file in cmd window, it opens the PDF document. If I execute the batch file using Process.Start(), again it does not
work. The CMD window opens but, the document does not open. The cmd window just stays open.
So, there must be something with opening the PDF using the Process.start() command.
Any help would be appreciated.

This is something Adobe has to troubleshoot. Probably the pdf file association is broken. I suggest you to visit forums.adobe.com to ask Adobe about your problem.

I haven't use the C# API but I imagine it is the same as C ShellExecute. Which in turn is the same thing (in essence) as double clicking in Windows Explorer.
So... does Adobe Reader run normally on this machine?
And does it start and open if you double click on a PDF file?
