Multiple projects - ANT building problem

Hey all, not sure if this is the correct forum for this but it's the closest fit. So I've got an ANT script which builds my game, but I've got another project called Resources that'll contain components, code, helpful classes etc that I want to use in any of my projects. In my build target, how do I make it so that I build both projects and use them in the way described above. I've attached my current "compile" target markup for reference. Thanks
<target name="compile" description="Compiles classes" depends="clean, -init-directories" >
<wtkbuild target="1.1" debug="false" srcdir="${src.dir}" destdir="${compiling}" preverify="true" />
<!--<include name="${resources.project.src}/**" />
</wtkbuild>-->
<copydir dest="${res.building.dir}" src="${res.dir}" includes="**/*.png" excludes="Thumbs.db" />
</target>

Awesome, that's worked. Can't believe such a simple bit of syntax sorted the issue out, couldn't find out that for the life of me. I do have one issue though, is that looking in the jar, the source directory looks like this:
components - package directory from the aformentioned Resources project
META-INF
midlet - package directory from the aformentioned Resources project
res
screens - package directory from the aformentioned Resources project
src
Can I just move these folders into the src directory so it all looks nice and legal? Or do you think it matters? Also, will it not have an effect on the actual device, as it tries to find a Class file to load in a certain location it isn't it?
For example:
My TitleScreen.class file is in screens, (screens.TitleScreen) if I moved the screens folder into the src folder, would that not cause a ClassNotFound exception? Thanks again for the help

When we are generating the ant build files for each project we have to choose the Worshop Ant Script instead of ant build files.
It is not intializing the workspace directory also

Sounds like you are missing mobilecomponents.swc

• Flex ant build - problem including custom theme

Hi,
I added custom ios theme using the below code in the flex ant build. The custom ios theme does not seem to be included.
<compiler.theme dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks" append="true">
<include name="themes/Spark/spark.css" />
<include name="themes/Mobile/mobile.swc" />
</compiler.theme>
<compiler.theme dir="${deploy.dir}/lib" append="true"> <include name="mobiletheme_ios.swc" />
</compiler.theme>
I also tried using just <theme> tag but it did not help.
Hoping a solution with the forum's help.
Thanks in advance
<include name="themes/Halo/halo.swc" />

Sorry, I meant to address that. Yes, since we've moved up to the Flex 3 sdk, we are pointing at a new directory. The old directory was flex_sdk and the new directory is flex_sdk_340.
FLEX_HOME is being set in the build.properties file for local building and then overidden in the build.xml file with this code:
<target name="build">
<available property="FLEX_HOME" value="/apps/flex_sdk_340" file="/apps/flex_sdk_340" />
<echo>FLEX_HOME = ${FLEX_HOME}</echo>
<antcall target="compile" />
</target>
I did notice a warning about not using the available property, so I removed it and just changed what FLEX_HOME was set to in the build.properties file to the server directory. Would mess up local building but regardless it didn't matter because it had no effect on the error being generated. I alos looked a little into the file property of the available tag trying to figure out if that was somehow an issue but I wasn't able to come to any conclusion.
Before the program errors out, it does displayt he echo statement and the value of FLEX_HOME appears to be correct in that it does show /apps/flex_sdk_340.
Thank you so much for your continued help. This is truly frustrating because nothing but a directory name has really changed and yet it stopped working. I can't find any information anywhere on what could be wrong and this is really my last resort.

Hi...
Actually the build.xml is created by the workshop itself when we use export ant scripts.
And this build.xml contains the following target:
<target name="webservice.build" depends="init,generated.root.init">
<path id="jwsc.srcpath">
<path path="${java.sourcepath}" />
<pathelement path="build/assembly/.src" />
</path>
<taskdef name="jwsc" classname="weblogic.wsee.tools.anttasks.JwscTask" >
<classpath>
<path refid="weblogic.jar.classpath" />
</classpath>
</taskdef>
<property name="jwsc.module.root" value="${project.dir}/build/weboutput"/>
<property name="jwsc.contextpath" value="TransformationWS"/>
<property name="jwsc.srcpath.prop" refid="jwsc.srcpath"/>
<path id="jwsc.classpath">
<path refid="weblogic.jar.classpath" />
<path refid="java.classpath" />
<pathelement path="${java.outpath}" />
</path>
*<jwsc*
*destdir="${project.dir}/build"*
*classpathref="jwsc.classpath"*
*>*
<module name="weboutput" explode="true" contextPath="${jwsc.contextpath}">
<jwsFileSet srcdir="${jwsc.srcpath.prop}">
<include name="**/*.java"/>
</jwsFileSet>
<descriptor file="${jwsc.module.root}/WEB-INF/web.xml" />
<descriptor file="${jwsc.module.root}/WEB-INF/weblogic.xml" />
</module>
</jwsc>
</target>
I never touch this build.xml as for rest of the services this gives no error.
But for one of the services it gives the the error mentioned above.....
Moreover the property "*jwsc.classpath*" is not set in the script.
Although it seems that build script tries to set this property. How can I manually set this property as to run the script successfully.
Thanks
Nirmal...

• ANT Build Module Project

I have a project that has multiple modules, as well as a couple of external libraries that we use. I'm trying to use sdk 4.1 and ANT builder to get the same build that I get with Flex Builder.
I can build the applicaiton, css, and modules, but I have not figured out how to take the existing swc's and compile them into a swf. It appears compc compiles a library project, but I don't see anything that compiles a library to a swf.
Also, when I use ANT, the module is larger in size, and all the modules are smaller. Is there any way to export the build and make sure I'm getting the same thing?
Thanks.

the mxmlc utility and Ant class will compile into SWF.
Inside FB, you can specify optimization of modules for a specific core application. This means that any class referenced in the core is omited from the modules (because the modules can get the class definition from the core at runtime).
For the command-line compilers and ANT, you have to supply the list of classes to omit. The SWF compiler will generate this exact list, so it is mostly a matter of pointing the module compilation at the output of the core SWF compilation.

Anyone got any idea what might be the problem here? I did followed the BEA instructions for exporting the ant build files.

Hi
This is a known issue addressed by CR205204
As you said, IBM actually does not have rt.jar in its JDK - they have moved contents of rt.jar into various jars.
IBM is not using org/apache/crimson/tree/ in their JDK at all.So the error shows up in the end of build even if it succeeds
You may need to add crimson.jar to wlwBuild classpath, since it is not part of IBMs JDK.
Note: the build will work even w/o crimson.jar giving a non build related IDE exception in the very end.
Thanks
Vimala

• Problems deploying ear file created with ant build script

Hi All,
I'm using Jdeveloper 11G and Weblogic 10.3. When I build my application and run it within Jdeveloper, it works fine. However, we have a requirement to run ANT build script and create a deployable .ear file that can be manually deployed to any Weblogic Server.
I created my ant build script and it compiles/builds fine - the .ear file looks good. However, when I attempt to deploy it, it fails with
javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet for servlet Faces Servlet could not be loaded because the requested class was not found in the classpath .

I am not sure how to tell weblogic where to find the classes needed. I have a pretty huge classpath used when compiling - should I be putting the classpath in the manifest (?) - I don't think I should need to include the .jar files manually in the .ear file - since all the libraries should already be available in weblogic - or is that a misconception?
Please help!!

I answered my own question -
I had to manually add the following to the WEB-INF/lib to get the error to go away:
${ORACLE_HOME}/modules/javax.jsf_1.1.0.0_1-2.jar and
${ORACLE_HOME}/oracle_common/modules/oracle.jsf_1.2.9/glassfish.jsf_1.0.0.0_1-2-15.jar and
${ORACLE_HOME}/oracle_common/modules/oracle.jsf_1.2.9/glassfish.jstl_1.2.0.1.jar
that solved my problem. However, I think it'd be great if I could somehow just specify (in the weblogic-application.xml maybe?) that my application is using the above modules without having to copy the jar files into my WEB-INF/lib - any suggestions?
Thanks

• Ant build script for WebLogic Portal 10.3 projects

Hi Friends,
I am going thru this document http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wlw/docs103/guide/ideuserguide/build/conUseCustomAntBuild.html#metadata about building ant script for my portal project. The document does not state few things clearly. Can you please help me to understand.
It says:
To Build an EAR File Using the Ant Script:
1. Generate the Ant script for each project in the EAR.
2. Generate the Ant script for the EAR project.
3. Configure the execution environment of your shell by executing wl.home/common/bin/commEnv.sh
4. Change to the Eclipse directory for the EAR project.
5. Execute the desired target in the EAR project's Ant script as follows:
ant build archive -Dworkspace=workspacepath
A) When I generate ant script, workshop generates build.xml file in each project directory and that includes EAR project as well. Then, point 2 is not clear, how do I generate another ant script (build.xml) for the EAR project?
B) I do not understand, "change to the eclipse directory for the EAR project". Does it mean, change to the directory of EAR project folder which has build.xml?
C) in step-5, execute the desired target, when I execute it, how it will know where are other build.xml files for other projects?
Regards,
JT

Hi Greg,
I moved little bit but then got stuck with new kind of error.
a. First of all, my application has a 'data' project (.usr) file. When I try to generate ant scripts (build.xml), it says that 'data' project is not compatible with Workshop ant scripts. However, Workshop inbuilt EXPORT->EAR is able to build the projects without any error.
b. So, I thought, let's put a dummy build.xml file under 'data' project directory. This let ant build to proceed further. However, now it fails with error that <web project>/build.xml (line no. 122). Which is nothing but memory declaration (memoryMaximumSize="1024m"). The error says, 'unable to launch apt compiler', I am not able to understand what is it? The other projects' (ejb, controls etc.) build.xml has this declaration but they did not give this error, they built fine.
<web project>/build.xml
<target name="build" depends="init" description="compiles the source files; does not package the results">
<if>
<isreference refid="apt.factory.path"/>
<then>
<mkdir dir="${apt.src.output.dir}"/>
<for-each-java-src-path>
<if>
<available file="${.java.src.dir}"/>
<then>
<mkdir dir="${.java.src.output}"/>
<apt
sourcepath="${java.sourcepath}"
srcdir="${.java.src.dir}"
includes="${.java.src.include}"
excludes="${.java.src.exclude}"
destdir="${.java.src.output}"
preprocessdir="${apt.src.output.dir}"
classpathref="java.classpath"
factorypathref="apt.factory.path"
options="${apt.options}"
compile="false"
memoryMaximumSize="1024m"/>
</then>
</if>
</for-each-java-src-path>
</then>
</if>

Hi -
I'm trying to run the exported ANT build scripts for a default portal web app from the command line (either a windows shell or a cygwin shell) and I get the following error on both occasions :

Hi,
Have you find a solution for this problem?
I have exactly the same one. I must build my web-services with some dependence compiled on java 1.6 so I need to use the APT task with a java 1.6 but the problem "Apt task requires Java 1.5+" appear.
Thanks in advance for your answer.

• Ant File Problem in Eclipse

Hey guys,
I am having alot of trouble getting a simple ant buildfile to work in eclipse.
I am following the tutorial on here (the part about ant files):
http://help.eclipse.org/help32/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.platform.doc.user/gettingStarted/qs-93_project_builder.htm
I have created a simple java project called HelloWorld and created a build file below in a package 'org':
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<project name="HelloWorld" default="Hello" basedir=".">
<property name="HelloText" value="Hello"/>
<target name="Hello">
<echo>${HelloText}</echo>
</target>
</project>According to the tutorial, I should get an outline in Eclipse (i use 3.2), etc, etc however I only get problems:
- Whenever I save the file I get "Save Failed: org/apache/tools/ant/launch/AntMain"
- When I attempt to add the buildfile to the 'Ant' pane on the right, I get error:
"failed to parse ant build file"
If anyone has any advice on how to get a simple ant file like the one above working, it would be so much appreciated!
Thanks

• Calling ant script from another's project ant script

Hello there,
I would like to ask something about ant script. Sorry if this is not the right forum but I could not find a better one.
I have 2 projects ProjectA and ProjectB in 2 different direcory structures, that contain 2 different build.xml files. I am trying to call ant of ProjectA inside the build.xml file of ProjectB like the following:
<!-- inside build.xml of ProjectB-->
<target name="buildProjectA">
<ant antfile="${ProjectA.root}/build.xml" dir="${ProjectA.root}" inheritAll="false"/>
</target>Unfortunately I get a different output than calling ant for Project A from the command prompt. Shouldn't this call to ant for ProjectA from ProjectB be exactly the same as calling ant from the command Prompt

thanks for your reply,
the problem is not that it does not file the xml file (although you re right, I changed it) but that later on in the building it behaves differently
So, basically, what I want to know, is this the right way I am doing it or the two approaches are different cause in my approach ant is not called from the project's directory but from another ant script?

• ANT build.xml file

My build.xml must have problems, because the jar size is way smaller than the JBuilder equivalent. I think it is not including the 3rd party Jars that I want it to include.
Additionally, it builds, but when I execute it I get strange errors indicating it can't find certain system classfiles.
Here is the build file:
