Multiple Purchase reqs. in Heursitic run

Hi,
What are the factors that lead to creation of multiple purchase requisitions at the destination location in a Heuristic run?
I have a product with external procurement between and transportation lane is between vendor and DC.
The product at destination has:
Min. lot size: 3000 PC
Max lot size: 00
Rounding value: 3000 PC
Safety day's supply: 2.5
There are no values set these fields at vendor.
The transportation lane starting from vendor to DC has a min. lot size of 1000 and a max of 99999 with transportation duration of 23 hrs.
When I run heuristic run between a vendor and a DC, the system created 3 Purchase requisitions with qtys., 3000, 6000 and 6000 the same day and the creation time is same as per live cache.
I am trying to understand what made the system create 3 orders instead of one order with 15,000 PC?
Thanks.

Hi ,
The order quantity creation in heurstic is function of following 3 things.
1. lot sizing procedure (lot for lot ,period)
2. Min lot size
3. rounding profile.
So coming back to your set up , if there is a demand of 2000 , your planning will still generate PR of 3000  as it is your min lot size.
if your demand is greater than 3000 then the demand will be broken in minimum lot size + multiples of rounding lot size for the remainder. For example if demand is 5000 then planning will generate the PR of 6000 ( internal calc 3000 (min lot ) + 3000 (for remaining 2000 with rounding value of 3000).
So bottom line is your PR quantity generation is function of min lot + rounding value.
Changing lot sizing procedure is not your decision as lot sizes are calculated based on various factors like set up cost ,economic batch size and production capacity. So you will have to rope in PP (R/3 + Business Analyst) guy to analyze impact of chaning lot sizing procedure in the current set up as it is master data from R/3 and CIFed to APO.

  • Repeated purchase req. in MRP run procudure

    Dear SAP experts,
Here at my client site, i have one scenario of mrp run of consumables. They maintain safety stock in material master MRP view,
I am using MRP type PD.Now after MRP run, system creates purchase requisition as per safety stock qty,( consider initial stock
is zero) now when i convert Purchase requisition into purchase order. i refresh the MD04 list, as soon as i refresh i get the
purchase req. converted into PO item.Upto this point its ok. but during this refresh function i get repeated purchase requisition
of the same quantity as previous one..Why this is happening? any specific reason behind this? my logic is not getting clear.
please assist me to find exact reason..
    Thanx in advance..
    Regards,
    Ravi

    HI
If the initial stock is zero then system will generate the PR for the safety stock also and then for the Dependent requirement.
    Check and revert

  • MRP run and creation of one cumulative purchase req

    Hello,
mrp run is creating a lot of single purchase reqs with one line (quantity and dates are fine)
but how to set up MRP so that instead of multiple purchase reqs ONE purchase req with many lines is created.
    Thanks, Sebastian

this is not forseen in the design.
Where would be the benefit? have a look into table EBAN.
There would not be one record less with this concept.
Further, in bigger organizations, several buyers would then work with the same purchase requisition, which could lead to lock and update problems.

  • Purchase req type after MRP Run

Ca we control the type of Purchase req after MRP Run.
Now for every material it is creating "NB" type purchase req.
Can we control it material type or by mat number.
We have 2-3 purchase req types in system for Material.
    Amit Shah

    Dear ,
Goto -OPPR-Enter Plant Code and Maintain MRP Group -0000( as SAP Standrad for External Procurement ) -Select Scheduling /Doc Type tab -Here you can assing the PR type as per your requirement so the while MRP run , it will selct the PR documents types based on OPPR .At the same time , assing this MRP group in MRP1 view of the material .
    Try and come back

  • Unfirmed purchase reqs not getting cancelled in the background MRP run

    Good morning,
The system has created Purchase requisitions for 2010 due to the setting in the MRP run. we want to change it to planned orders outside the Vendor lead time and when i run a REGEN MRP with setting 2 (Purchase requisitions in opening period) its not happening. When i run indivudual MRP with MD03 with the same setting its alright, purchase requisitions are deleted and its converted into Planned orders. Can anyone please throw some light on to make backgrouond MRP run delete the Purchase requisition and create planned orders.

    Jags,
You must delete the offensive PRs first.  Regardless of the MRP settings, MRP will still decide that the PRs are valid and will leave them alone.  It will not 'change' them into planned orders.
Run Regenerative MRP with your new settings (Create purchase reqs as '2') but also run your MRP in planning mode '3', delete and recreate planning data.  It will delete all existing unfixed purchase requisitions, and then run MRP.

  • Planned order created after mrp run instead of purchase req

    Hi All,
I am facing a strange problem about planned order being created after mrp run jobs runs in background instead of purchase req. This is happening randomly. In the material master MRP view 2 procurement type is F and in the varient for the MRP job the in Purchase requisition control parmater 1 is marked that is purchase requisition. Also planning file is having the entry once there is shortage and hence MRP run is there always if there is shortage of material.

  • Purchase Req. Document type during MRP Run

    Dear All,
My reqmt. is that whenever I take MRP run of external procured items, System should generate Purchase
Req. for a particular Document type let say ZPE.as I want to control the no. range.
One thing I fopund was control through OPPR(MRP Group Settings).I have assigned the relevant MRP gp. to materials also, but still after MRP run, system picks up std.(NB) Doc. type for Purchase Req.
Kindly advise whether Iam missing some settings.

if you want sytem to create our own type, u can create assigning MRP Group for your material.
Goto OPPR , Assign your PR Docuemnt type in under "stnd pur order" coloum in External Procurement option in OPPR for your plant/MRP group Combination.
i hope u already  have created ZPE Pur requsition   doc type

  • How to Configure Multiple Purchase Requisitions per Service Order

    Hi experts!
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but I was wondering how I can configure multiple Purchase Requisitions to be created from a service or maintenance order (IW31) based on the control key (or if it's even possible).
What would be the pros and cons of doing this?  We currently only have one PR being created for one order (a 1-to-1 relationship), however now with implementing external services, we want 2 or more PRs created based on the control key.  Is the control key the best way to go, or should I be looking at a different deciding field?
    Thanks in advance!
    Stephanie

    Raj,
Thank you so much for the information.  That does help!  However business requirements are now changing to have different Purchase Requisitions created for a single order in the following scenarios:
                 - New Purchase Req created for different operations (you explained how above, perfect!)
                 - Seperate Purchase Req created for non-stock items (your answer above seems to group service operations and non-stock into the same Purchase Req).
                 - New Purchase Req created if the order has already been released.  (If the order's status is still at "Create", then the additional component can be appended to the existing Purchase Req.  If the order's status is "Released", and a new component is added, a new Purchase Req is created).
As mentioned, you explained how to do the first requirement.  Is there anyway SAP can handle the next two requirements using standard config and not customizing anything?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Is it possible to combine multiple Pur Reqs for multiple materials to one vendor into one PO through MD07?

We have material planners who use MD07 (traffic signal screen) Stock/Requirements List, Collective Access tab to review material requirements by MRP Controller.  Once the list is created, they select individual materials and review them in MD04.  In a lot of cases, Purchase Reqs (PRs) are reviewed and adopted into POs individually for each material.  Sometimes they will combine multiple PRs for one material into one PO.  This is a good practice.  However, from what I have found, it is not possible to combine multiple PRs for multiple materials into one PO.  If this was done it would dramatically reduce the number of POs that we are issuing to suppliers.  Problem statement:  We issue too many POs which causes additional influxes down the line (receiving dock/goods receipts processing, receiving issues, invoices, invoice issues, etc.).  Does anyone know of a way to address this problem without a major overhaul in approach or customization of the system?  Thank you in advance!

    Hello Michael
As far as I know, this is not possible directly from MD07, only from the MM transactions.
The following thread suggests the following procedure to convert several PRs into one PO:
Conversion of multiple PR into single P.O
Drag and drop the first PR from the item overview to the shopping card on top of ME21N,
then open the PO detail delivery schedule tab and drag  and drop all other PR to the shopping card shown  in the schedule tab
You can use the same procedure, calling the order conversion from MD07 and then drag and drop another PRs into this PO.

  • Stock Transfer Reservation in spite of Purchase Requisition in MRP run

    Dear SAP gurus,
We are running MRP heuristic on the PP/DS and we have different results comparing our development and productive environments.
In our productive environment purchase requisitions are generated and in our development environment stock transfer reservations are generated as result of the MRP run.
Where can I check differences of configuration that would be causing this?
    Thanks and BR
    Mauricio

    Mauricio,
I guess I was not clear in my suggestion, I apologize.  Differences in T001W between ERP dev and prod will not necessarily generate your problem, differences in sourcing within APO between APO dev and APO prod will generate the differences.  I only mentioned the vendor number because a transportation lane can exist 'source plant > destination plant', but also you can have a transportation lane 'vendor of source plant > destination plant' which would also have an impact on the type of req created.
Easier to check the sourcing, //PWBSRC1, mentioned earlier.  Your dev system should contain no objects that relate to Stock Transport orders.  You can delete the STO sourcing records within that transaction, which will also delete the material assignment to the Transportation lane.  Hopefully you will then get the default external supply proposal, which is normally a Purchase req.
Also check for presence of quota arrangements //SCC_TQ1.  Delete any that unnecessarily refer to an STO object.
    Best Regards,

  • Inconsistent Dep req in MRP run

Let me explain the scenario with an example:
B is child part of A. When we ran MPS, A's planned order has generated dep req on B. Subsequently A's Requirement and Planned order were deleted . But in the subsequent MPS run it is not deleting Child parts (B) dep req due to some error. ( We know the mistake what we did). Now we wish to delete this inconsistent Dep req for B.
I know that there is a program RM06C020 to delete such sub contracting purchase req . Similarly is there any program for deleting inconsistent dep req for a planned order?

    Hi Srinivasan,
To delete the inconsistent dependent requirements of planned orders...you have the only option to run the MRP for the header part so the dependent requirements will be deleted and adjusted automatically as per the new planned orders quantity.
There is no program and transaction to delete the dependent requirements except MRP.
If any questions then write to us OR close this thread with rewarding the suitable points.

  • MRP Generating Purchase Reqs for Materials Needed in 2013

Hi, all.  We're running MRP and it's generating a massive amount of purchase requisitions (18,310 to be exact).
The following is a typical part setup:
    Lot size = EX
Planned delivery time = 5 days
GR processing time = 2 days
    Individual/collective requirements = 1
    MRP profile = BTO
We have one existing sales order with a delivery date in 2014.
With a lead time of roughly a week, why is MRP generating purchase requisitions out into 2013 for this material??
    Thanks!
    Sarah

    Sarah,
MRP Profile doesn't mean much to us, they are all created individually during each implementation, and they are all different.  However, I will guess that BTO is some type of Make-to-order profile.
You mention 18K of PRs.  Are these all being created in a single run, or is it possible that they may have been accumulating for a while?   To find out, run MRP, but using the parameter for Planning mode 'Delete and Recreate planning data'.  It will delete all the unfirmed PRs and then regenerate new ones based on the current situation.  I will assume for the moment that all these 'future' PRs are unfirmed, please let me know if they are not.
Since it appears to be a MTO environment (if not, let me know) then you should be able to see in the planning segment which requirement (sales order) is driving the purchase reqs.  Depending on your MRP type, this could give you understanding of why MRP is proposing so many PRs.
One thing that will generate a large number of purch reqs is an unrealistic value in Maximum Lot size (MRP1 page of material master).  For instance, for a requirement of 1000 widgets, and a max lot size of , say, 2, it would generate 500 PRs for 2 widgets each.
If my suggestions don't help you, please specify MRP Type, Lot Size, max lot size, rounding value, Safety stock, reorder point, Strategy group,   From these values we can begin to understand your problem a little better.

  • Regarding rescheduling of purchase req.

    Hi All,
For raw materials I have maintained safety lead time in the material master and I conduct MRP run. System create the purchase requisitions after MRP run. When I check the requirements in MD04 for the raw material, system show me rescheduled date.
But it doesnot mean that system has rescheduled purchase req.
Is there any transaction, so that I can reschedule the purchase req. ?
    Regards,
    Mahesh

    Hi,
Do you notice a star indicator next to the PR, if yes it means a firming of the PR has taken place. This firming can be due to manual modification or due to the PR falling in planning fence and an automatic firming.
MRP does not make changes to firmed proposals. So just close this PR & re-run MRP & system will generate an unfirmed PR. The MRP run will schedule the proposal on the need date.
    Hope it clarifies.
    Regards,
    Vivek

  • Planning Time Fence and Rescheduling Purchase Req

How to Process the MD04 exception  u201C30 Plan Process According to Scheduleu201D for Purchase Req.
Please provide me a Step by step procedure with example to Reschedule the Purchase Req with given rescheduling date.
*Really I am confused with PLANNING TIME FENCE.
What it does with Planned Order and Purchase Req ?
Based on the some of threads in SDN, I couldnu2019t come to the conclusion of the terminology behind PTF.
So could you please provide me an explanation with example will make clear idea on PTF.
    Thanks in Advance.

    dear friend,
as far as i know, all planned orders that lie in the planning time fence are firmed. that means that they can no longer be changed automatically by the system in the planning run in long-term planning.
outside the planning time fence, the system creates order proposals as usual according to the shortage quantity and the lot-sizing procedure. once these planned orders move into the planning time fence, they are automatically firmed depending on the how you have set the firming type.
the planning time fence can be defined per material in the material master record or via the MRP group.

  • How to create STPR(Stock Trasnsfer Pruchase Req) in MRP Run

    Hello PP Guru ,
I am running MRP in various branch-plant .I maintained Special Procurement Key 40  for all the material in branch-plant .Here we have one supply plant .We run MRP at Supply plant once all our other branches(plant) completes their MRP run .My  requirement is
1.How to create STPR/STPO while running MRP at branches ? I did not find any option in MD01 to create STPR/STPO while executing MRP at plant level. Is there any configuration seting required?
2.How to create PR/PO in Supplying plant (Central plant) so that it will consider all the branches STPR/STPO and show List of PR in MD04 ?
    Thanks and regards
    Jia

    Hi Jia,
Yes, there is some special setup for Stock Transport orders.  There are some business decisions you must make first.  Pls refer to [Stock transport orders|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/EN/4d/2b90dc43ad11d189410000e829fbbd/frameset.htm] for basic functionality in helping you to make your decisions.
    For configuration settings, refer to
[Purchasing IMG|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/32/72369adc56d11195100060b03c6b76/frameset.htm] then Purchase Order>Set up Stock Transport order.
    and
[Purchasing IMG|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/32/72369adc56d11195100060b03c6b76/frameset.htm] then Purchase Requisition>Set up Stock transport Requisition.
These steps can be reached in IMG>MM>Purchasing>Purchase order>Set up Stock transport order, and
IMG>MM>Purchasing>Purchase Req>set up Stock transport requisition.
For question 2, there is no special setup.  Once your STOs/STRs  are properly set up, you will see new requirements in your central plant, which represent the un-fulfilled requirements from the branch plants.  Assuming that you already have set up MRP in the central plant, MRP will create new proposals (pureqs or plndords) just as if all of these new requirements were new sales orders.
