Multiple R/3 source systems to one BI system

Hi Friends,
We are planning to split our SAP R/3 Into Different Servers...one each for different companies.
At present we have only one source R/3 System from where we are getting data to BI.
If we split it into different source system................can we load date to BI system simultaneously from different source systems.
or we have to schedule one after one....
Please advice me........
what are prerequisites we have to take care if we go for different source systems.
Thanks&Regards
Anand

Hi,
As the source systems would be different, you have to maintain the master data into each system seperately and that should be consistent. Lets we take an example for an employee. In one system, one employee is active from say 1 Jan 2009 to till 31 Jan 2009 and the same employee is active into another system say from 1 Jan 2009 to till 31 Mar 2009, then It will create problem while loading the master and transaction data from different source systems and hence the reporting would also not show correct results.
There is no other option except to maintain the consistent master data into all the systems.
Cheers...

  • Multiple usage of Source System is not possible with installed DMIS version on source

    Hello folks!
I`ve got a problem trying to adjust the Data Replication to SAP BW (on HANA) using SAP LT Replication Server.
I`ve deleted one connection and after that I`m trying to create new one through  Configuration & Monitoring Dashboard (transaction LTR) with the same source / target systems.
As result when on the second step (Specify Source System) I specify RFC destination of the source system it appears an error with text
"Multiple usage of Source System is not possible with installed DMIS version on source".
But there`s no any adjusted connection in system now..
Please, help me to understand  how to fix that problem, I can`t find a solution

    Hi,
When you say that you 'deleted one connection', did you delete the RFC connection or the SLT Configuration? If it is not a real multiple usage scenario, then deactivate the 'allow multiple usage' flag, else install the correct DMIS version on both SLT and source.
    Thanks

  • Multiple R/3 Source systems for BW(3.5)

    Hi,
A BW system being linked with multiple R/3 source systems , is a very common scenario. But could someone please help me out with a strategy doc / how -to etc. on the best possible way to install business content for multiple R/3 sources .
    thanks

    Hi Shurobhi,
This is a common scenario. there is not much difference between single source system and multiple source systems.
If you have data coming from 3 source systems you dont need to create 3 cubes and update seperately. you can update 3 source systems data into one single cube. For Example: FI AP Line Item data : You have source systems 1 2 and 3. you can use standard business content ODS  and Cube to update FI AP data. Here first, init for source system 1 followed by delta for source system 1, then init for source system 2 followed by delta 2, finally init for 3 followed by delta 3. From here on you can load data to info cube in the above layer.

  • Multiple SAP R3 Source System in BI

    Dear Gurus,
    Here's my scenario,
I've SAP ECC Development Source System connected to my  SAP BI Development Server  system.
    Now my Question is ,
1.We also have SAP ECC IDES system client 800 and therefore would like to connect this SAP ECC IDES system to our SAP BI Development System , because we need to do a pilot project for our prospective client and therefore we need the  Dashboards and the reports created on the  SAP ECC IDES system DATA.
So can I've two Source System in my SAP BI system ?? If yes , will it affect my present objects like InfoCube , Masterdata which I've already created with previous Source System ?
    Regards,
    -Neha

    Hi,
So can I've two Source System in my SAP BI system ??
Yes its absolutely possible. In fact it is done in production systems as well, wherein some big organisations have multiple R/3 systems and only 1 BI system.
If yes , will it affect my present objects like InfoCube , Masterdata which I've already created with previous Source System ?
No it would not affect any of these. Your datatargets can handle the data from multiple systems. There is one rider on this.
The key fields in your datatargets should not have same value from different source systems, otherwise they would get overwritten by the new data records. e.g.
Suppose you have 2LIS_18_I0NOTIF datasource from both the systems getting loaded into same datatarget. If notification number from first system is 123 and from other system also 123, and this is the only keyfield in your DSO, one of them would get overwritten.
Similar would be the case for Master data loading as well. For master data, atleast you have a way around this. You can go for compounding with source system. This way system would differentiate the master data from different source system, even if their values are same.
    Hope this was helpful

  • Establishing a Source system

    Hi all,
Can i connect a Sandbox system as a source system to BW dev system? I wasnt sure if i would connect sandbox or not.
    Thanks,
    Mav.

    Hi,
Yes. Are you planning to have multiple R/3 source systems for one BW dev. system. If so, you might want to search this forum for "0logsys" and "0soursystem". There are some interesting discussions on this topic.
    Hope it helps,

  • Multiple DataTargets in a BI 7.0 System to One DataSource in Source System

Currently, I do not have access to BI 7.0 system.  I am wondering whether it is possible to connect MULTIPLE DataTargets of a single BI 7.0 system to ONE DataSource in the source system?  I have searched the forum, but I couldn't find relevant posts.  If I am not wrong, until BW 3.5, once a DataSource is assigned to an InfoSource, it can not be assigned to any other InfoSource of the same BW system.  I have heard that this has changed in BI 7.0 with the new DataFlow concept.
The current requirement is that multiple DataTargets of a single BI system need to get DELTA data from the same DataSource in the source system.  If this is technically possible in BI 7.0, should the source system also support such an assignment (since the DELTA load timestamps are maintained in the source system)?  What source systems currently support this feature, if any?  What are the appropriate tables in the source system that I need to look at to do further investigation?
All the useful inputs regarding these questions will be rewarded with points.  Let me know if you need any further clarification of the requirement.  Thanks!
    Sameer

    Hi Sameer,
But since there is only one transformation between the PSA and DataTarget, all the data (irrespective of the indicator) will flow through unless I filter on the "planning stage" indicator
You can create one transformation between Datasource and ONE DataTarget. But in your case, you have TWO datatargets. So you have to create two DTP's which can have diffrent filter parameters.
You can fill two different targets ( cube1: before manual update, cube2: after manual update) using your datasource.
For this, you need to create two transformation. Keep in mind, everytime you create a transformation you must create a DTP for data movement.
    So you will have:
    DS1 -- TRANS1-- DTP1 --Cube1
    DS1 -- TRANS2DTP2Cube 2
In DTP1 set  filter for indicator :X and DTP2 set  filter for indicator :Y. Both DTP1 and DTP2 should work in delta mode.
I would suggest you to create one initialization for your DS1. if it is not possible create two infopackages for two initializations. I suppose you have the indicator in selection parameters of infopackages.

  • Multiple rows in BI Infocube/or DSO for one row in source system

    Hi Gurus,
I have a typical scenario where in I have a ztable in R/3 system and it contains some custome transaction data.
The business scenario wants it to split into multiple records in BI ( ofcourse keys for each records in BI would be unique). Either infocube or DSO can be used to store the data in BI.
Is it possible to do that. As far as my knowledge goes( I have limited BI exposure) one record from source system ( read row) is transformed into one record ( row) in BI in simple transformation.
Please give me some rough idea if its possible how can we achieve it.
I know we can write an ABAP program and create a ztable to do it and use the ztable as source for incube/dso. But I want to use this as last option.
    Thanks
    Sumit

    Hi,
    An ODS will be better.
    Use a start routine.
    data-package --> package2
create your own package with your rules.
    update.insert.modify.append....
    package2 --> data_package
and from 1 row, you create n row as your rules would like..

  • Creating multiple source systems one logical system

    Hi,
The requirement is to create two source systems using same logical name and different RFC connections to ECC?
We wanted to do some regular activities using one source system and some drill down activities using different source system.
I am getting error when I try to create second source system "source system already exist"
    Please advice.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I dont think it is possible to create multiple source systems in a sinle logical client. You have to create multiple clients and you can connect to BI system by different RFCs.
    Hope this helps.....

  • One report, One Source System with multiple Company Codes -- Authorization

    Hello Guys
We have 2 DEV source systems for our BI implementation right now. one for US (CCode - 406) an one UK(CCode - 301).
We have already completed the implementation for UK with 38 reports.
we are right now moving the US implementation.
when we move to QAS we are going to have one Source system with both US and UK data.
so when we move to QAS, the US clients wants to view the reports developed in UK implementation with their own data.
How can we do that. since some reports doesn't have company code to restrict the data to respective users.
    Thanks and Kind regards,
    shekar.

    Hi
First make the company code authorization relevant in infoobject BEx explore tab
If your in BI7 , you have analysis authorization concept

  • Multiple Schema Creation with One Source system Via SLT

    Hi all,
we have BW on HANA environment at our company premises, with SLT server installed
So, my Question is that is it possible to create more than one schema in HANA system with one Source system
As an example, lets say, ECC (Client 601) Source System has been connected to HANA via SLT and created Schema called SCHEMA_1 and again i want to create SCHEMA_2 by connecting same ECC (Client 601) source System.
please help me to short this out?
    Thanks

    Hi Mirana,
Yes, it is possible to create more than one schema in HANA system with one Source system.

  • Transformation issue while connecting multiple source system of same type..

    Hi,
I'm working on APO-BW integration project. I want to connect BW QA & BW PROD to APO QA. I've already connected BW QA to APO QA & it is fetching data correctly. RFC part & other BASIS part is already taken care of. I've done export datasource (for mater data, cube etc) in BW PROD & replicated in APO QA. All BW PROD datasources are imported as RSDS (7.X) in APO QA.
Now my question is how to make sure the transformations will take source system as BW PROD too? I want 2 datasources (one from BW QA & other from BW PROD) to connect to same inforprovider in APO. I've transported 7.x datsource from APO DEV to APO QA environment along with transformations. In conversion of logical system names in APO QA I've given source system -BW DEV & target system - BW QA. So the transformation automatically takes data source as BW QA. It doesn't take source-system - BW DEV & target system - BW PROD as it conflicts previous setting.
Is only option that I need to manually maintain transformation from BW PROD datasource or there's another better alternative?

    HI,
You are getting multiple IDOCs into BPM. But output you are getting one message right? IF so, your N:1 Mapping is not done correctly.
i.e your target message type should have occurence of 1..n and also the interface mapping. Closely obsever the N:1 mapping done in the BpmPatternCollectMerge.
Also go to SXMB_MONI->PE and check the Technical Details to make sure that, you are getting multiple IDOCs and you are executing the N:1 Transformation step correctly.
Also in the N:1 Mapping, check out the context you used. Make it root .  Then test the mapping independently in the Integration Repository.
    Hope it helps,

  • Copy Transferrules from one source system to another

    Hi everybody,
we're uploading data from nearly 25 sourcesystems (including separate systems and systems with more than one client to extract from) via flat-file. The source-system exports data to a shared file directory and the bw-system reads it from there. Though this results in only <b>one</b> transferrule for all source-systems, it keeps generating problems every time upload is due.
Somebody had the idea to switch to 'standard' R/3->BW method of data staging, using generic extractors and so on. But this will result in <b>25</b> transferrules which, I'm afraid, have to be set up and maintained seperately. As there's quite some coding in the rules (the transfertructure in fact has 241 fields), flaws are for sure!
We know the trick of exporting a transferrule, changing the source-system-mapping and re-importing the same transport-request. That can be used to copy to one or two other systems, but not for 25.
Does anybody know another way to copy a transferrule from one source system to multiple other source systems?
    Looking forward to your answers
    Thanks and Regards
    Robert

    Hi Ralph,
I don't like that methode. Importing the same transport 15 times, each time changing the source-system mapping and making sure, that source-system gets the changes seems to be a huge source of errors, which will be hard to find.
What do you think of the following idea to solve the issue a totally different way:
All transfer-rules directly connected to the source-systems are stripped of all Coding, so there is a plain 1 by 1 transformation including 0logsys.
The InfoSources attached all lead to one ODS-Object, which has the only purpose to collect the data from the source-system without any transformation. So some fields a filled by a system and other fields maybe not.
The coding specific for source-systems is moved to transfer- / update-rules from that ODS-Object to the original ODS-Objects / Cubes and the "collecting" ODS-Object is emptied after every loading process.
This will result in a single point of change. It will be quite a huge program (maybe in startroutine) but it's the one and only point, where changes and corrections have to be made.

    Robert

  • SLT Replication for the same table from Multiple Source Systems

    Hello,
With HANA 1.0 SP03, it is now possible to connect multiple source systems to the same SLT Replication server and from there on to the same schema in SAP HANA - does this mean same table as well? Or will it be different tables?
    My doubt:
Consider i am replicating the information from KNA1 from 2 Source Systems - say SourceA and SourceB.
If I have different records in SourceA.KNA1 and SourceB.KNA1, i believe the records will be added during the replication and as a result, the final table has 2 different records.
Now, if the same record appears in the KNA1 tables from both the sources, the final table should hold only 1 record.
Also, if the same Customer's record is posted in both the systems with different values, it should add the records.
How does HANA have a check in this situation?
Please throw some light on this.

    Hi Vishal,
i suggest you to take a look to SAP HANA SPS03 Master Guide. There is a comparison table for the three replication technologies available (see page 25).
For Multi-System Support, there are these values:
    - Trigger-Based Replication (SLT Replication): Multiple source systems to multiple SAP  HANA instances (one  source system can be connected to one SAP HANA schema only)
So i think that in your case you should consider BO Data Services (losing real-time analytics capabilities of course).

  • Multiple source systems ?

    Hi all,
What is the best possible answer/solution for the following scenario
If I am extracting same data(datasource) from multiple (say 3)R/3 source systems ie the datasources too are same for example 2lis_40_S600, how can we model the architecture in BW?
Should we have 3 infosources or just one.  If one then how?  Please let me know.
    thanks

thanks Bhanu, you answered my question.  Actually I need to decide on that, I mean I need to analyze all the char and keyfigures in these three source systems and figure this out.
Since all the data from three source systems is going to one infocube, I can do the transformations in transfer and update rules.
    Another question about 0sourcesystem?
If I want to have 0sourcesystem in my infocube then I should have one infosource for all the three source systems right?
    thanks.

  • Modeling the Data model when multiple source systems

    Hi gurus,
i have a scenario where i am getting data from multiple source systems all R/3 but from different locatins.
my doubt is if i have to do reporting on the data available.
    1. do i have to build seperate infocubes for each source systems or build seperate data designs for each source system .
    2. How can i consolidate the different source sytems data into one and report sensibly as well as without loosing the source system identification.
    thanks and regards
    Neel

    Hi all,
thanks for your focus, ya i am also thinking of have a flexible solution where in i can do it easily as well as we don't have much of complexcity, but wanted to try different options as well so that we can go for best one.
I thought of multiprovider at first when RafB suggested, and i agree with you as well Lilly, that data volume will be a problem, so keeping all this in view i want to build a solution where in it will be sensible as well as not confusing in reports ( i mean clear and readable reports)
    [email protected]
please kindly forward any documents which might be helpful for me in this scenario
    thanks and regards
