Multiple Relay Host question

In the GWIA settings under SMTP/MIME, the "Relay Host for outbound messages" we have the address for a Cisco Ironport c170 that filters our messages.
We want to add another Ironport for failover. If I add a second IP, can this be prioritized so the 2nd unit will only be used if the 1st is down?
What logic will/might be used when a second relay host is used?
Am I approaching this right or should I plan to let it send from either relay host?

On the Public side we are going to have different priorities on the MX Records.
I would prefer that One Ironport get all the messages, but realize they both most likely will.
We Quarantine all messages with attachments and manually release them "if" the recipient calls us to let us know they were expecting the message or know he sender.
So I assume we will have to check both Ironports to see which did the quarantine.
We will be using the Ironport Centralized Management to keep the two Ironport configurations the same.
If you have any recommendations or tips, Please share.

We are also using a clustered IronPort solution. We have both IP's
specified in the Relay Host configuration. It is my understanding that
the first IP is always used until it fails.

Multiple WebSite Hosting Question

I just purchased a new MAC Pro with OS X Leopard Server in Advanced Mode and I am trying to configure it to be a webserver only. I created all of my websites and everything looks correct but when I try and start the service I get an error message that pops up and says the following
"A service has encountered an error. Try to refresh the view (IP/Web). Report the problem to the administrator if it persists. (Could not start web service - details in error log.) 100002"
I look in the error log and I have a lot of SSL errors and I don't even have SSL enabled. I am also getting a Can't bind to IP:80 error. I need this server to run PHP/MySql. Could I uncheck all of the Modules except the PHP one? or will that create even more problems?

Below you will see the log file I took from the server. I get this when I try to start the web server service.

I removed the IP address and added 0.0.0.0 There is a legit IP in that place.

Question on - GWIA - Relay Host for outbound messages setting

We are being forced to use a "centralized" message relay host due to
State mandates. So . . . most everything is working except messages
sent to comcast.net. For some reason the GWIA is trying to communicate
directly with comcast.net (76.96.62.116). Here is my configuration
(all my GW systems are GW 7.0.3 lastest service patch, NW6.5SP8 server):
PO - on its own server
PO MTA - on its own server
GWIA MTA and GWIA - on their own server
GWIA is configured to use "Relay Host for outbound messages:" -
domain.com
The following is from my GWIA Log showing where I sent a message to my
comcast and hotmail e-mail accounts. For some reason, the GWIA is
trying to send my comcast.net addressed message directly to comcast
server instead of relaying thourgh my relay host. Is there some
setting or config file I need to look at to see how this is
happening?????

Multiple destination hosts in route.cfg for single domain

GW 8.0.2
We have route.cfg set up to send mail for some destination domains direct instead of through the default relay.
One of the destination domains we want to add to route.cfg has multiple MX hosts they can receive mail on.
Is it possible to add multiple host IP addresses for a single destination domain in route.cfg?
for example:
abc.com has mail receivers with MX records:
abc.com 3600 IN MX 9 10.0.0.25
abc.com 3600 IN MX 2 10.0.1.25
abc.com 3600 IN MX 2 10.0.2.25
abc.com 3600 IN MX 9 10.0.3.25
- is there a way to put all those into route.cfg for abc.com for resilience?
As I've read that route.cfg works in a similar manner to the hosts file, would a space separted list of IP addresses work?

Relay Host

Hello and thanks for taking the time to take a peek. Do you know how to set up a relay host? I checked docs.sun.com and all I got was #805-3480 Mail Administration Guide for Solaris 7 (close enought I think), but no info on making a relay host. The 805-3480 shows me the file for relay-domains for sendmail (/etc/mail/relay-domains), but not how to make a relay host. Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance for helping out.

What could be causing my multiple response survey question to show a non-response in LMS report?

I have a 10 question survey that has been running fine and providing accurate responses in reports generated from my LMS. I made a property change to a multiple response type question that is now causing the reports to show a date/time (2003-01-01 18:00:00) response instead of the actual multiple responses the user made. The change I made to the question was to change the "Numbers property from" [ a), b), c) ] to [ 1), 2), 3) ]. This property change did not affect the reported responses for the single response questions, only the multi-response. This problem occured Using Captivate 4. I then tried using the same properties in Captivate 5.5 thinking it was a bug in CP4, but got the same results. Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm going to bring this to the attention of my LMS provider, but want to make sure CP is clean first.

First things first. I am not an LMS expert, so this is not about troubleshooting.
However, to ensure that your course works fine on a SCORM-compliant LMS, you can upload it to cloud.scorm.com and test it out. If the course works fine there, rest assured that it will work fine on any SCORM-compliant LMS. If your LMS team comes back with an issue after this, you can counter them with this evidence that the problem is with the LMS and not your course.

Controlling multiple relays on PXI 2569 simultaneously using LabVIEW

Hi,
Can anyone please tell me how do I control multiple relays in the PXI 2569 general-purpose raley module? I can't find the example for it. At the moment, the example I have is for controlling individual relay which is only for open/close one relay name at a time.
However, I need to use all the 100 relays and they got to be controlled at the same time.

Multiple dmz hosts? ps3+xbox360

Hi!
I'm having difficulties in setting multiple dmz hosts. Both my ps3 and my xbox 360 require me to set them as the dmz host. However, in the router's settings page, there's only one space for ip entry to enable dmz. Thus far, my only solution has been to access the page everytime i want to play on xbox live or playstation network. Is there a better way? Am I missing something?

Oracle Portal Virtual Host Enhacement for Multiple Virtual Hosts

The TAR is related to " REQUEST ASSISTANCE FOR MULTIPLE VIRTUAL HOSTS AND MULTIPLE PAGE GROUPS CONFIG. "
This is the Scenario: We Have Oracle Portal installed in a single Box. yes I know I know... but Not everybody is Yahoo or Google for Clusters and all the good stuff, we just want our website managed by Oracle Portal since all our ERP is running Oracle Database. Anyway. 1 Box running Oracle Portal Infrastructure and MidTier.
It turns out that our previous configuration we have the LAMP Solution with PHP, Apache with Virtual Servers configuration very trivial for a regular web server however we have about 6 Virtual domains.
For example:
www.abc.com
www.def.com
www.ghi.com
www.jkl.com
www.mno.com
www.pqr.com
We also like to post all our Intranet Information in this great Portal:
http://intranet.com
Where intranet.com is the same server but setup in our Internal DNS without be a Real Internet Register Domain.
So bottom line we start doing great with Install our single box install, later [GRRRRRR does not come by default in port 80 GRRRRRR, ok need to move and setup the virtual host to resolve our main External website www.abc.com ]
For starters ok it worked we have our main website running Oracle Portal.
Now is time to go to the step number 2.
Setup another Page Group in Portal to be the Page_Group_INTERNAL.
I figure if Apache can setup Virtual Hosts pointing to Independent parts of the File System without be shared. I was expecting some kind of custom configuration where I can setup httpd.conf to point to some specific PageGroups to make sure
www.abc.com => Page_Group_External
never share information with:
intranet.com => Page_Gorup_Internal
My TAR was very quick closed with the Argument that is not what It supposed to do.
Since a virtual host is a common thing to do on Linux and Apache, I wonder if You guys could list this as one of the default features to have multiple virtual domains assosiated with Page Groups that they never talk or share Resources I think that would be really great.
In the mean time I guess we have no option but to put a password for every internal page or take the risk of share our Information to the Internet. Perhaps designate another box with Oracle Portal but In that case Is not really cost/bennefit to use a killer technology for our external site since we just have no more than 30 pages.

1. To change the target URL of KM resources you can to the following:
Access the URL Generation Service Configuration by navigating to:
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Configuration
Content Management -> Global Services -> URL Generator Service
Change the Host property to "portal.company.com".
2. You change the Port by opening the Visual Administrator and going to : Dispatcher -> Services -> HTTP Provider
Change there the "Ports" entry from (Port:50000,Type:http)to (Port:80,Type:http). Then go on "Save".
3. To remove the "/irj" from the portal URL you can create a index.jsp with the following content, and save it in the J2EE Documentation folder:

Relay Host for Outbound Messages not being used...

I have a new v7 GWIA on a new domain that is using the relay settings from the original GWIA (on a separate domain) despite its own settings.
Anyone seen this before?

Check your GWIA.CFG file as anything in there will override settings from eDirectory. I think the switch is /mh which is your Mail relay Host.
If that isn't it, when you say it's a new GWIA, is this a new GWIA installation? Is it a whole new object? Or is it a new server that is running against the existing GWIA object?

GWIA is not authenticating to relay host.

Since GW7 through to 2012 our gwia has worked without a problem to our relay host authenticating using a gwauth.cfg file. However, now that we have upgraded to GW2014 from GW2012, the relay no longer works using the same gwia.cfg and gwauth.cfg files. We keep getting this error: MSG xxxxxx Response: 550 You must authenticate to use XXXX Standard SMTP.
The agents run on SLES11SP3 (OES11SP2), and the gwauth.cfg file is correct.
Any thoughts?

Just in case there has been a drift in how it is handled, have you run
through the relevant docs ? The mechanism looks just like it was in 2012.

I'd be tempted to do some packet captures to ensure the right data is
going out to where it is supposed to go. If it is hitting the correct
host, then part of the process is working correctly. Perhaps recreate the
gwauth.cfg file incase something funny has happened to it. Also confirm
that there wasn't a password reset at the other end at the same time as
Murphy could have struck while you were upgrading.

Partial-credit scoring in multiple response and multiple hot-spot questions

Hello everyone,
I'm calling on your generosity in the spirit of the holidays to help out a noob. I would like to create matching, multiple-response and multiple-hot spot questions where the user receives credit based on the number of correct answers within the question. For example, in a matching question where there are four items; if the user gets 2 out of the four items matched correctly, I would like for him to receive 2 out of 4 points.
I understand that Captivate doesn't support partial-credit scoring of this type, but a few posts have implied that it can be done with variables. Is there anyone who can walk me through this process, or send me to a link that will walk me through it? (I've scoured these forums and tried the Cp tutorials, to no avail.) And if it's not asking too much, please make it understandable to someone who has very little experience with variables.

GWIA Relay Host for outbound messages

Hi,
In GW2012 I had two relay hosts configured for outbound messages. The IP addresses were separated by a space. Since the upgrade to GW2014, I can no longer add two relay hosts in the GWIA SMTP/MIME tab. When I add the second one, separated by a space, the admin console throws an error. The error says: "Internet address provided is invalid". According to the admin guide, it should still be possible.
How can I resolve this?

OCS 10g - Does it support multiple domain hosting

Hi,
We have installed OCS 10g for a domain university.edu
Now, It provides only two available domains as local domains. ie, university.edu and .edu
I would like to add some more sub domains (at least one more) such as college.university.edu to be a local domain in OCS for which it should accept emails.
It this simple feature of multiple domain hosting supported in OCS.
Kindly let us know some tips for it.

I configured the domain about 2 years ago, so I have to go and look in my archive (which is at the office, I will not be there before the end of next week).
The setup has 2 top level domains (one is .nl and one is .com). Under .nl about 4 domains are running, under .com only 1. If I remember corretly issues did raise with files. Calendar and mail are running as expected. This is on a 9.0.4 release though (not a OCS 10 R1 or R2). I did read loads of articles and had to patch even more. Luckily I printed all articles I read, so I can lookup the exect document numbers. If you can wait until next week, I can help you out.

Server Admin relay host field bug?

I noticed something curious when attempting to specify a relay host via Server Admin 10.4.3 (157.5) application.
If I specify xxx.com in "Relay outgoing mail through host" field, the value will appear as entered in MailServicesOther.plist. However, it will NOT appear in main.cf, there is only a line 'relay='.
When I manually edited main.cf to add 'relay=xxx.com' then relaying started working...however, if I use Server Admin after that to edit the value, it reverts back to an empty value again. Rather annoying, really.
Is this a known bug?

Honestly, I've had trouble with ServerAdmin and Postfix's main.cf from the beginning of 10.3.x I've given up on using SA for anything to do with the mail. I've tried everything from having someone send me a default main.cf and reseting everything in SA.
I can't get it back into sync, and since my backup MX server is running Postfix on FC3 I learned the CLI and got over the SA. I still use SA for looking at Account Quotas under the Maintenance tab, everything else is dorked anyway now.
