Multiple Router Issue

Question

I have been using my WRT546s 4-port Wireless router. The ports are used to hard wire various rooms in my house (house was pre-wired). Everything works fine. I need to have more than one wired internet access in my office. So I tried to hook up my BEFSR41 4-port router. I cannot get it to work. I know the wiring is done correctly, I am assuming there are changes needed in my settings, but don't know where to begin. I am passed my warranty period on my two routers, so I am looking for free advice before I spend the $30 for Linksys Phone support.
I am using automatic dynamic IP address and am getting broadband through Comcast. Thanks.

Rather than use a second router, the best thing to use in this case is a switch, such as the SD205, SD208, or SD216.  The switch does not require any configuration.  Just wire it to your router and it works.
To save money, your BEFSR41 can be converted to a switch.  To do this, do the following:
1)  Power down your entire network.
2)  Disconnect the BEFSR41 from everything except one computer that is wired to a LAN port on the BEFSR41.
3)  Power up the BEFSR41 and the computer.  If the computer has a wireless card, turn it off.
4)  Login to the BEFSR41 and make the following changes from factory defaults:
a)  Change the "Local IP address" to 192.168.1.2  (this assumes that your WRT54GS is using 192.168.1.1 , and that you are not using 192.168.1.2  elsewhere in your network.)
b)  Change the "DHCP server" to "disabled"
c)  Click the "Save Settings" button, then wait (3 to 60 seconds) for the screen to refresh.  You will probably be disconnected from the BEFSR41.  Do not worry about this.
5) Power down your entire network
6) Wire any LAN port on the WRT54GS to any LAN port on the BEFSR41.  Do not connect anything to the Internet port on the BEFSR41.
7)  All the remaining wired LAN ports on both routers will behave as if they were built into the WRT54G.
