Multiple SAP Data directories

Is there any technical reason why there are 4 sapdata directories for SAP systems?
Why not just use a sapdataALL directory?
Cheers

Hi,
I agree with Markus, besides that filesystem size limits where certainly a reason to have multiple sapdata dirs in the past. We have now only a single /oracle/SID/sapdata1 in most systems and only add sapdata2, when we get more disks (and a new volume group is needed).
Sometimes it is a bit troublesome through installations, because i am always having trouble with the sapinst and his directory mapping. But creating sapdataX -> sapdata1 links always works as a workaround

  • How to select from multiple output tables in the SAP Data Source

    Hi,
We're using the SAP Data Source to display SAP data in our portal from the Bapi: BAPI_INFORECORD_GETLIST. When defining the Bapi Meta Data we can select data from one of the two output tables (INFORECORD_GENERAL and INFORECORD_PURCHORG). But we want to select data from both tables (some columns we want to show are in INFORECORD_GENERAL and some are in INFORECORD_PURCHORG) .
How can we do this ?
    With regards,
    Ramon van der Weiden

You can query multiple TimesTen databases, but your original question was about joining tables from two databases, which is not supported.
Using Cache Connect to Oracle to query an Oracle database is not distributed. It's still one single Oracle database you are querying. You cannot join a table in the TimesTen database with a table in the Oracle database, this is not allowed.
If you are willing to share your business requiremens, we can take a look and see what solution might work for you. Would you like to discuss this offline?

  • Pulling/Extracting Data from Multiple SAP Systems - Scripting, ABAP?

    Hello All,
I am working as an analyst for a large company that has multiple SAP installations across the world.  What I am trying to do is create some global reporting metrics based on data from all of those systems on an ad-hoc basis without having the other units send the data to a central repository.  I can receive access to all of the systems but I am unsure how to pull the data. The access to one of the systems I have currently does not allow the use of ABAP or RFC but does allow scripting.  If I have a good business case I could ask for ABAP access and RFC as well.
I have researched and read through many posts and articles within the forums but I am yet to find a solution.  I have experience in VB, VBA, and MS Access.
Can anyone suggest any ways to move forward?
    Thanks!

According to my understanding, you may use vba in your excel or a just vb by programming against rfcsdk(librfc32.dll) or the newly nwrfcsdk, or use jco or nco..., but all these method are based on rfc function call.
You may write a simple abap side data extraction agent, just a function select some table with the data you interest, and then call this function from outside regularly, then you may save the returned table to a csv then bcp to sqlserver(c + batch), or just write to excel sheets(vba).
The simple table read function you may check RFC_READ_TABLE, but it has some limits and are not released. The more functional agent is also can be found from other vendors, eg ms sqlserver2005 kit`s sap adapter...
I do not have idoc or services experience, maybe in that senerio you will find a easier solution.Good luck, you may reach me at <b><REMOVED BY MODERATOR></b>

  • Is it safe to remove multiple hostname.mboxlist.date directories

    Hi,
I have several hostname.mboxlist.date directories besides mboxlist directory in server_root/msgconf/store directoryoccupying much space. Can anybuddy let me know is it safe to remove these directories ? As its my production server, so I can't take any risk of data/db corruption.
    Thanks in advance.

I remember answering this for you before.
    How old are these? Recent?
Messaging Server does snapshot your database, and you can set how often, and how many to keep.
If you have OLD files, likely Messaging Server didn't create 'em.

  • SAP Data Storage Migration from HP EVA SAN to NetApp FAS3070 FMC for M5000s

    Good day all
We are needing to perform a storage migration for SAP Data that is currently on 2 HP EVA SANs. We have 2 SUN M5000s, 2 SUN E2900s and a couple of V490s, that all connect to the SAN via Cisco 9506 Directors. We have recently commissioned a NetApp Fabric Metrocluster on 2 FAS 3070s, and need to move our SAP Data from the EVAs to the new Metrocluster. Our SUN boxes are running Solaris 10. It was suggested that we use LVM to move the data, but I have no knowledge when it comes to Solaris.
I have some questions, which I hope someone can assist me in answering:
    - Can we perform a live transfer of this data with low risk, using LVM? (Non-disruptive migration of 11Tb)
    - Is LVM a wise choice for this task? We have Replicator X too, but have had challenges using it on another Metrocluster.
    - I would like to migrate our Sandbox, as a test migration (1.5Tb), and to judge the speed of the data migration. Then move all DEV and QA boxes across, before Production data. There are multiple zones on the hardware mentioned above. Is there no simple way of cloning data from the HP to the NetApp, and then re-synching before going live on the new system?
    - Would it be best to have LUNs created with the same volume on the new SAN as the HP EVA sizings, or is it equally simple to create "Best Practise" sized LUNs on the other side before copying data across? Hard to believe it would be equally simple, but we would like to size the LUNs properly.
Please assist, I can get further answers, if there are any questions in this regard.

  • Read MULTIPLE idocs data with all sgmn to my internal table in a single

    Dear SAP Folks!
I have a question, I know to read SINGLE idoc data with all segments, we have FM IDOC_READ_COMPLETELY but my requirement is to Read MULTIPLE idocs data with all segments to my internal table in a single shot without keeping this FM in loop! since it is performance issue, at a time i may want to read 1000 idocs data!
Could anyone please let me know is there any way to get this, keeping mind of performance and any other FM?
    Best Regards,
    Srini

    Hi,
I know idoc numbers and i can write a select Query to DB table EDID4 to get all segments data to my internal table. But i am looking for FM to do this. because i have too many number of idocs and each idoc is having many segments(I am thinking in performance point of view!) The FM IDOC_READ_COMPLETELY can accept only ONE IDOC number as import parameters at a time to get segment data. in similar way do we have any other FM? or other way? except select query to EDID4 table?

  • Multiple SAP systems - Single Content Server

In a production landscape with multiple SAP systems and a single Content Server, would it be more efficient to allow each Web AS to access the Content Sever directly or should there be a single dedicated Web AS to access the single Content Server?
We do not have any load data; we are trying to find out if there are any heuristics for such a configuration.
Message was edited by: John Ryan

You may use the SAP Content server for data archiving. If you use content server, you may not be be able to satisfy the legal requirements as SAP content server cannot support a WORM devise.
SAP do not recomment using SAP CS for Data archiving as well. SAP CS could be best used as a temporary content stoarge for non legal document images.

  • Centralised EHS system and users and organisations in multiple SAP systems

Wanted to have your experience/ advice or experience in setting up a centralised EHS system talking to multiple SAP systems and other ERP systems
If the client have sister companies and locations in multiple SAP systems , can we go for a centralised EHS system talking to multiple SAP systems
Is there a concept of application ID in EHS system : If so how EHS system can identify the < to EHS system records to tag the system > , <EHS system Records bound to have different configs for each ERP systems> and < from EHS system records to multiple SAP systems >
Can you list client experiences or roadblocks for this type of design

    Hello
the answer to your question is: may be you can use a central EHS system. The reason is: EHS is correlated with MM. A SAP system in which EHS is used without MM makes "not realy" sense. So it is a matter of definition "what is a central EHS system".
EHS it selfs uses SAP standard techniques. That is "ALE" distribution to other SAP systems. The distribution of EHS data top NON SAP systems is possible to via XI (which is the common solution). If you use as the scenario SAP to SAP you must make your that standard EHS customizing is the same on both sides.
Furthermore SAP EHS is a "great" module with several submodules. So regarding each of the potential scenerios you need to check the necessary prerequisites. It ois very common to have EHS PS, DG, HSM in one system and to distribute data via ALE to a different system so that the EHS data can be used "decentral" in the several SAP logistic processes.
In most cases you need to distribute per ALE at least DG master and hazardous substance master.
As a starting point take a look here: http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_05/helpdata/en/c1/eda0f591ec12408b25e7a1b369ca45/frameset.htm

  • Single Web Dispatcher for Multiple SAP Systems

Having read a number of posts & S-Notes, I found that Web Dispatcher 7.2 is capable of routing between multiple SAP instances.
But despite having troubleshooted, I am unable to make it work. I have two separate installations ERP & Portal on the same host, but my web dispatcher only routes to one of them at the same time. Simultaneous access to these 2 systems is not possible either with URL or Port control procedure mentioned at url http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw72/helpdata/en/c5/ec466f5544409982c7d3ca29ce1ad3/frameset.htm
Can anyone point an error in my below mentioned configuration of web dispatcher file.
I want requests on port 8853 of my web-dispatcher to be routed to system DEV &
the requests on port 8843 of my web-dispatcher to be routed to system DEP

    ms/http_port = 8100

    wdisp/system_1 = SID=DEP, MSHOST=sapdeverp, MSPORT=8102, SRCSRV=*:8843
Can we mention multiple message servers instead of single message server "rdisp/mshost = sapdeverp
    ms/http_port = 8100" ?
    Any suggestions ?

Very right in mentioning this point coz myself have been confused over it but if I remove these lines & execute the -checkconfig:
    then it states as below:

  • Fall back systemwhen multiple SAP systems trying to acheive SSO with BOEXI

    Friends,
I need a small clarification on ' SSO between BOE XI 3.1 and SAP BI 7' Scenario,
Say when multiple users log on through their  SAP EP Portals or Netwever Portals, they use their tokens generated by their respective EP portals which are passed through the 'Web application server' hosting BOE environment.
    1) When  its a Single EP portal , we can have have a fall back system. when we register  its logical name in the CMC of BOE Environment , a typical SNC.But what's the fall back system for multiple SAP systems?
    2) Also Whether there are any pit falls via token method  when more than one SAP system communicating to BOE?
    3) Do we have any documentation for this?
    Thanks ,
    Sivakanth.

    Hi Sivakanth,
the normal scenario for SSO is the following:
When you said ''back end system ', i did not get it.
    Enterprise Portal -
    (iView)-------> BOE -
    > SAP BI <- This is your backend system
Well Could I define more than one logical name there in SNC tab of CMC.?
I assume you have the following situation:
    (EP1, EP2, EP3) -
    > BOE -
    > (SAP BI 1, SAP BI 2, SAP BI n)
You can define more than one entitlement systems in the BOE CMC and also configure for each one of them for SNC. Please note that we are talking about server trust and NOT client trust here. It is all about letting your sap system and the boe system trust each other. If you have your portal with client SNC configured (ie. the user logs using a certificate and an SAP logon ticket is created) it is NOT necessary to configure SNC in the CMC (Please refer to the section "Configuring SAP Server-Side Trust" in the installation guide for the integration kit for SAP) side.
Back to the SSO scenario now: When a user connects from an enterprise portal on the BOE system the logon ticket, generated from the portal, is forwarded to the back-end system, which is defined in the portal iView the user is currently navigating through. If it is a Crystal Enterprise iView then you just have to select the appropriate system alias of your back-end system in the System drop down menu when creating the iView. For URL iViews you must utilize the relevant openDocument parameters. If you do not define anything at all when creating the iView then BOE tries to authenticate the logon ticket against the SAP BI system you selected to be the default one in the "Authentication->SAP->Options" tab of the CMC.
If what you want is just to distribute the load between your SAP back-end systems then you should consider utilizing an SAP cluster for your pursposes. As explained before BOE will not distribute the requests evenly on the back-end systems. It will try to contact either the system defined in the request (iView) or the default system. To be honest I am not sure what happens if the explicitely defined system is not available but I think that an error message is what you should expect then. I do not think that in this case the BOE system tries to use the system defined as default.
Another part is what kind of security is defined in BEX querys..as i read from SAP IK guide, we can import all the roles which are defined at ABAB level.
Will there be any security threats to SAP data via this method.
It is true that you can import all roles in your BOE system. But keep the following four things in mind:
    1) You can restrict on the BOE side the users which are authorized to logon in the CMC and import the roles (normally only the BOE administrator is authorized to do this)
    2) Importing a role means that an SAP user can try to logon the BOE. Still the logon process can only be succesfull only if the SAP user has special authorization on the SAP side (Please check the Appendix "Authorizations" in the installation guide of the integration Kit for SAP.
    3) You can restrict the access to data by assigning authorizations only for specific infoareas/infoproviders. In order to partially restrict data access in a given infoprovider (e.g infocube or multiprovider) you can utilize authorization variables in your BW query.
    4) You can further restrict access on specific reports either on the BOE side or on the portal side (by rstricting access to the defined iViews).
For sure you must invest some time to define and implement your security concept.
More over could you please answer other 2 questions in my original question.
    2) Also Whether there are any pit falls via token method when more than one SAP system communicating to BOE?
    3) Do we have any documentation for this?
    2) As long as your portals, the back-end systems and your BOE system are configured correctly for SSO this should not be a problem. Well just a tip based on my experience: be sure to use full qualified domain names for your systems in the iView definitions. And do not forget SSO works only if all systems are in the same domain.
    3) As said in my previous posting the netweaver documentation regadring SSO setup maybe interesting for you. As far as I know the multiple systems scenario is not contained explicitely in any official BOBJ documentation. I assume that you already went through the installation guide for the integration kit for SAP.
Please tell me if you have a completely different scenario in mind

  • Multiple LDAP data sources in EP7.0 SP14

    Hello,
I am new to a site that uses portal and SSO between portal and AD LDAP. The portal version is EP7.0 SP14. The datasource is configured with 'datasourceConfiguration_ads_readonly_db_with_krb5.xml'. User path is OU=Users,OU=Finance,DC=io,DC=network and Group Path is  OU=Groups,OU=Finance,DC=io,DC=network. The flag to use the Unique ID is also set to 'samaccountname'. The problem is that we also have users in OU=Admins,OU=Finance,DC=io,DC=network and OU=Managers,OU=Finance,DC=io,DC=network in the same AD LDAP that are not visible to the portal but we would like them to be?
It did appear to work if I changed the User Path to OU=Finance,DC=io,DC=network but I can not find any SAP document that supports doing this?
I have seen the document 'Configure multiple LDAP data sources for the UME' with the following link https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e1959b90-0201-0010-849c-d2b1d574768b however this specifies EP6 so I'm not sure if it is still relevant?
Also somebody did warn me with "If you change the xml file it will remove all current user mappings to the portal, all the groups mapped to roles will be lost and you will have to set them up again". Is this true?
Am I supposed to be using the SPNego Wizard as described in SAP Note 994791?
And possibly the following links for configuring and testing the SPNego...
Configuring and troubleshooting SPNego -- Part 1
Configuring and troubleshooting SPNego -- Part 2
Any guidance towards the best approach to solve our problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Dave,
It did appear to work if I changed the User Path to OU=Finance,DC=io,DC=network but I can not find any SAP document that supports doing this?
OK, I am not an LDAP expert, but if you just want to change your entry point in the structure, I do not see how this would be a problem. I do not know what kind of statement you would expect in the SAP documentation allowing this. Maybe this will answer your question: [Organization of Users and Groups in LDAP Directory|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/09/c5ee407552742ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm]
I have seen the document 'Configure multiple LDAP data sources for the UME' with the following ... however this specifies EP6 so I'm not sure if it is still relevant?
This function has not changed much since EP6, only the administration tools.
Also somebody did warn me with "If you change the xml file it will remove all current user mappings to the portal, all the groups mapped to roles will be lost and you will have to set them up again". Is this true?
It depends on how you change the XML file, but it does not sound like you need to do this, just the configuration of the connection to the LDAP, that is, higher in the structure.
Am I supposed to be using the SPNego Wizard as described in SAP Note 994791?
Only if you want to use SPNego for SSO.

  • SolMan and multiple SAP customers

As a consultant, I'm in the middle of installing and configuring SolMan 4.0 for a client.  This client is currently running many SAP systems as they have gone through a couple mergers over the past few months/years.  As a result, they have multiple SAP Customer numbers.
Now when you enter the Global Settings for the system you only have the option of ONE "S" id which of course is associated with ONE customer.  As a result certain functions, like Maintaining Service Connections, sychronizing data with the Support Portal and other things don't work correctly.
Is there any any way around this limitation?  The customer is working with SAP to merge the contracts, and hence get all systems under one customer, but due to contact jurisdicational issues this could take a while
What I need is either a way to put multiple "S" ids under the Global Settings (and of course have the system try them all until the function works) or be able to associate ONE "S" id with multiple customers.  Is this possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi Murray,
currently the only way is to merge contracts under one group key as the customer does. We plan a functionality within Solution Manager to solve this problem also for customers that do not belong to the same group but there is no definite schedule for this. Sorry I can give you no other answer.

  • Multiple Validity Dates in Contract Pricing Agreements

    Hi
We are using Quantity contracts in ECC 5.0. Now business wants to maintain multiple validity dates in price agreement of contract.
When we try to create the agreement with multiple validity dates, i am getting following message:
The condition is being processed in the current session.
    Message no. VK104
    Diagnosis
A condition record with the same variable key is already being processed.
    System response
The new record is not included in processing.
    Procedure
Carry out the changes to the record that is currently being processed.
In this case we are unable to maintain multiple validity dates for same combination (Sales Document & Line Item).
Is this standard scenario? If no, how to address this issue.
    Please awaiting your valuable feedback.
    Regards,
    Shankar

    Question answered by SAP.
    1. Use VK11/12 to maintain the multiple validity dates.
    2. If 2 Logical systems are used, then need to use separate condition types for CRM & ECC.
    3. Ensure new condition types are blocked from replicating to CRM.
Now, we are able to maintain separate condition for ECC & CRM and working satisfactorily.
    Thanks

  • CAT2 multiple person data entry and worklist

    Hello everybody,
For our users we have created a multiple person data entry profile and everything is working fine. hours for multiple people can now be entered in CAT2. However, our users are now stating a new request: They would like to see the worklist aswell (just like with single person hour entry).
When trying to customize the data entry profile and making the setting for showing the worklist, SAP shows the message that multiple person and worklist are mutually exclusive, so not posible.
However, the request from our users doesn't seem that strange. Would anyone of you know a way to combine the worklist with multiple person hour entry?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
    Peter Hageman

    hi
As per the message frm SAP , standard way would not be possible , you may think of a enhancement for this.
