Multiple Scan 20" on a Mac mini ?

I want to make a low expensive change of computer.
Is that possible to connect a Multiple Scan 20" on a Mac mini ? (Multiple scan have a DB-15 connector)
Thanks.
Claude

Yes, with a DB-15 to VGA adaptor it should be possible.

  • Out of Frequency Problem with Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display and Mac mini

If a resolution with a horizontal and/or vertical frequency not compatible with your display, in this case an Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display, is selected in the Display preference pane of the Mac OS X 10.4.10 system running on a Mac mini (Early '06), you will recieve a message on your screen about being "out of frequency" and the power management feature will shut down and restart your display repeatedly. The following solution should restore your display to proper function. It may apply to other displays and Macintoshes running Mac OS X, but it has only been tested specially on this setup.
    1. Shut down the Mac mini with the power button (press and hold for 5 seconds)
    2. Start the computer up with the Mac mini Mac OS X Install Disc 1 (press the power button, insert the disc, hold the C key down until the progress bar starts up)
    3. Click on the language, then select Utilities > Terminal...
    4. Type "cd /" and return
    5. Type "cd Volumes" and return
    6. Type "cd your hard drive name" and return (you need to enclose the hard drive name in double quotes if more than one word)
    7. Type "cd Library" and return
    8. Type "cd Preferences" and return
    9. Type "rm com.apple.windowserver.plist" and return
    10. Type "exit" and return
    11. Quit Terminal
    12. Select Utilities > Startup Disc...
    13. Select the OS on the hard drive and click on Restart button, holding down the Shift key until the progress bar starts.
    14. Log in to the account that had the display problem in Safe Boot mode
    15. In System Preferences select Display, select a resolution with the appropriate frequency, 60 Hz should be fine, then close System Preferences
    16. Restart the computer, log in to the account normally, and the display should be functioning properly.
DO NOT SELECT AN INAPPROPRIATE RESOLUTION/FREQUENCY FOR YOUR DISPLAY IN THE DISPLAY PREFERENCE PANE! BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!

Mac mini (Early '06)   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display

Just a correction and an elaboration:
It should be Startup Disk... with a k, not a c.
Both the resolution and the frequency must be appropriate for your display to work properly. Check your documentation or the manual information available on your display for the appropriate resolutions/frequencies. Evidently the Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display is considered so old that no allowance was made for it in the Display preference pane of Mac OS X 10.4.10.

  • How best to connect multiple (not Apple) monitors to mac mini

    Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase a Mac Mini and need some advice about setting up two non Apple monitors that have both HDMI & VGA ports.
    Can I use USB ports?
If I connect one on the Thunderbolt and the other to the HDMI port will it work well?
Can I connect two monitors through one HDMI or Thunderbolt port?
Can I add other monitors later of I want to?
Also what cables/adapters will I need.
    Thank you
    Drew

Connect one to the computer's HDMI port and the other to the Thunderbolt port using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable or adapter

    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/moshi-mini-dp-to-hdmi-adapter-with-a udio-support>
It is possible to connect multiple displays to the HDMI port by using a HDMI splitter, but all will show the same picture.
It is possible to connect two displays to the Thunderbolt port but at least one must be a Thunderbolt display, and you can't use the HDMI port.
It is possible to connect extra displays via USB, but performance is limited

  • Hosting Multiple Mail Domains in SL server on a Mac Mini

So I have been trying to find out the answer to this question, and I keep getting conflicting information, and I am hoping someone here can help me solve this.
We are running two very small business with two different Domains (@company1 & @Company2) Each company has a website, and corporate email. All I want to do is bring all of this in-house onto one Mac Mini server. The calendars and contacts will be shared between the two principle owners of each company (my bosses) as they support each other in there individual business.
The Apple "Genius" says this is not possible, I believe and have been told by a few people and after reading posts on here that it is possible to have multiple domains on one Mac Mini Server. I would like to figure this out quickly as the companies have a need to move off the current email provider as fast as possible due to complications with iOS4 and the iPads.
Any Help from people who are doing this, or know it to be possible or impossible would be greatly appreciated!

This is entirely possible, and supported by the Server Admin user interface for the mail server.
Start with the [Mac OS X Server Mail Services Administration Manual|http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/MailService_Adminv10.6.pdf], page 73
    Quoth the Book Of Mail:
    A Mail Service Virtual Host
Virtual hosting is a method you can use to host more than one domain name on the same
computer and IP address, with overlapping mail user names.
For example, a mail server can receive mail transfer requests for two domains,
mail.example1.com and mail.example2.com, both of which resolve to the same IP
address. For mail.example1.com, the server delivers mail to “[email protected]
to a user mailbox for “bob,” while it also delivers mail to “[email protected]” to
a different user mailbox. Virtual hosts are essentially the converse of local host aliases.
One subtlety here is that the domains sharing the same mail server and all co-resident on the IP address will all tend to have the same public host name listed as their MX (mail exchange) server of record in the public DNS. This so that forward and reverse DNS and MX server all line up for the mail server for all the domains involved.

You have to turn on Sharing and then Authenticate Sharing on the other devices. You can have up to 5.

Can i have multiple monitor with my mac mini like i do with my PC ?  2 differents screens.. not mirror.

There's lots of Mac Mini models since 2006 or so. What do you have?
Most support two monitors but how you do it is different depending on model.
    Put this phrase into Google

and you'll come up with the solution needed based on which MM you have.

  • Noticed that my MAC Mini is sending traffic to 70.38.54.77 on sequential UDP ports (port scanning?)

    Hi,
I noticed in my home router logs that my MAC Mini "scans" UDP ports in the 33xxx range to an address 70.38.54.77 ... a quick search shows others complains but not result or explanation. I am looking to see if this is some piece of sw installed in my MAC or perhaps how to block traffic to/from that IP (or its subnet).
See below - .149 is my MAC mini IP address at home.

  • If i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

if i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address.  If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their  individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini.  This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is,  if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT:  Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified.  Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL

  • Scanning to Mac Mini from KM C353

    Hi Everyone,
Hope I'm in the right part of the forum.
I've got a Konica bizhub C353. I've searched all over for drivers or tutorials on how to scan to my Mac Mini.
Does anyone have any information that would allow me to scan to my Mac Mini?
I'm also running Yosemite. The Konica is connected to the Wifi Router.
    Thanks

Many office multifunctions have the ability to 'push scan' a document to a shared folder on the Mac using an IP protocol. This feature requires no scanner driver to be installed on the Mac and can be set as address book entry so that you don't have to remember the configuration. Note that this Scan to File feature may require an optional kit to be installed in your C353.
Prior to 10.7 you could use SMB for the protocol, however Apple made a change to the SMB protocol used in 10.7 and later that stopped you being able to use this protocol for many brands. The workaround was to use FTP but you needed to enable the FTP protocol on the Mac via Terminal via the following command
    sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
After you press enter you will be prompted to authenticate as the Mac administrator.
With the FTP protocol enabled you can then create an address book entry using the FTP protocol on the KM. You will need to enter the IPv4 address of the Mac , the folder on the Mac you want to scan to and the Mac user name and password.
Another feature that may be available in the KM is scanning to a shared folder on the C353's internal hard drive and then connecting to this shared folder from the Mac using IP protocols like SMB, FTP or WebDAV. Check with your KM service agent how to configure this setup if the above option is not available to you.

  • Lexmark Genesis s815 scaner is not working on mac mini

Hello everybody. Please help if you can!
I recently bought my mac mini and migrated my files and all the data from my previous mac mini, some of the files are comming originally from my old powerbook. I wrote this introduction just because people from lexmark geeek customer support said that this migration and upgrades from Snow Leopard could be an actual and essential problem.
    Now the issue.
I have this new stanning lexmark genesis s815 multifunctional (printer, fax, scanner) device. The scanner does not work. I have updated the driver, the frimware (all available on Lexmark supprot page), downloaded separate scan center application, but nothing works. All the possible ways to scan (from printer utility on the system preferences, from image capture, from the lexmark genesis itself, and from the scan centre application) are not working. The only thing I can do is to scan on email and then download it to my computer.
The scan centre does not open at all
The image capture comes up withthe device appearing in its left column, but clicking on the device leads to nowhere.
Opening scanner from printer utility in the system preferences comes up with error 9931
Scanning from the device itself  gives me communication error on both wifi and usb modes

  • Mac Mini Restarting Multiple times per day

I have a Mac Mini from Sept 2010.  Recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and now the restarts due to an issue several times per day.  The computer is fine when i am using it, but the issue comes up when i return to wake the monitor by hitting a key or moving the mouse.  Sleep is disabled, but the monitor is set to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity.  Sometimes it will be fine left for hours on its own and other times when i come back to the computer, I am met with a gray screen stating the computer had to restart.

Any help would be appreciated, as this happens multiple times a day.

    Thanks for the reply, den.thed.
I tried the first suggestion, resetting the SMC, but after this the problem continues.
I think the issue is related to the second, kernel panicking.
As for suggestions 3 and 4, i have my energy settings as you show in your post, with monitor sleep after 15 minutes, computer sleep never and none of the options checked.  While the computer does not sleep, this is only an issue when i step away from the computer for a while and come back, not when i am actively using it.
The latest error message is as follows, and seems to indicate a kernel panic (or several).
Interval Since Last Panic Report:  112486 sec
    Panics Since Last Report:          7

  • Is it possible to use multiple displays on mac mini?

Is it possible to use multiple displays on mac mini?
I have a mac mini that I think is from 2009. The processor is 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 gb memory that I´d like to use with multiple displays (2). Is this possible??

    yes.
connect monitor #1 with the Mini DVI to DVI adapter (should have come with your Mini)
connect monitor #2 with the mini-displayport to DVI adapter (needs to be procured separately)

  • Mac mini 2014 with multiple screens

    Hi there,
I'd like to know if I could use a Mac Mini 2014 with one Matrox TripleHead2Go on each Thunderbolt to handle 5 monitors (I don't need 6 but the question is the same)
    Anyone ?

    This would say no
    http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/connect_multiple_gxms/
Multiple GXMs are supported under Windows only.

  • Ricoh Aficio scanning to mac Mini Server

I have a brand new Mac Mini Server, os is up todate 10.8. something.
I have two XP Pro SP3 pc's that access file shares on the mac mini.
They are ok except the drop the connection due to what I believe is the SMB 1.0 on the XP and 2.0 version on the mini fighting each other.
But it works for now with the XP machines till I can upgrad them to windows 7.
We have a Ricoh Aficio MP C2550.
I want to scan to the mini.
I cannot access SMB shares on the Mini from this printer.
I tried FTP but cannot access the FTP site either.
I can access both SMB and FTP from the XP machines.
I am new to Mac's.  I have been a Windows guy since 1994.
Any help would be greatly appreciated on this.

Hi Fultonm. I had the same issue and the steps below resolved my scanning and it is still workin OK now.
Scanning to MAC 10.7 and above using FTP
Turn on the FTP server on the destination MAC using the following command which needs to be enter from within the “Terminal”:
    sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
    To stop it:
    sudo -s launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
Confirm the FTP server works by typing:
    ftp localhost
If the ftp server is configured correctly, you should see the below:
    $ ftp localhost
              Trying ::1…
              Connected to localhost.
              220 ::1 FTP server (tnftpd 20100324+GSSAPI) ready.
              Desktop/My ScansName (localhost:):
To enable the FTP server, you will need to enter the password of the user account that your are currently logged into in order for the FTP server to be created. If you need to turn off FTP enter “unload”. The FTP server will usually be com.apple.ftp.
Create a scans folder on the desktop, i.e. My Scans.
    Share the scans folder
Log onto the copier which the scans need to be sent from.
Open address book and select to add a new scan destination.
Select “file” as the scan type and change the send method from “SMB” to “FTP”.
Enter a name for the scans destination as usual.
Enter either the IP address of the MAC or the hostname and folder path into the relevant boxes.
On a Ricoh both the IP/Hostname and the folder path can be enter into the “Hostname” Box.
On a Canon, enter the IP/hostname into the “Hostname” box, and enter the folder path into the “Folder Path” box.
You do not need to use the “\\” for the hostname or folder path as you would when setting up scanning to a Windows machine, i.e. \\MYCOMPUTER\DESKTOP\MYSCANS.
    Instead you enter the IP/hostname and folder path in the following format;
    Ricoh –
    Hostname: MYCOMPUTER/DESKTOP/MYSCANS
    Canon –
    Hostname: MYCOMPUTER
    Folder Path: DESKTOP/MYSCANS
Enter the user account name and password that is going to be used for authentication.
Save the settings and test the scanning. IF configured correctly using the steps above the scans should be sent to the MAC using FTP and appear in the scans folder you have created.
The fields (hostname, folder path, authentication, and so on) for setting up the scan destination information on the copiers GUI will be dependent on the manufacturer, but will all follow the same principle.
    Hope this works!

  • Mac Mini - Media Center and Multiple HDTVs

I am interested in using the Mac Mini as my Media Center and would like to have it output to 2 HDTV's. One in the family room and one in the bedroom for instance. However, I want to play different content at the same time on both TV's. What is the best way to accomplish this?
2 Mac Minis - 1 for each TV?
1 Mac Mini and an AppleTV - Networked?
Software or Device that I am unaware of that could stream different content to different TVs simultaneously?
    Thanks for your help!
    JM

All my itunes music and videos, Netflix Streaming, Hulu, Amazon VOD etc., over the air HD content, any of my stored photos, DVD's that are on my hard drives.
That lets out the Apple TV, then, without hacking the box. Running a couple of Mac minis with third-party software such as Boxee might be an option.
I want preferably one device that can access everything the internet has to provide as far as TV and Movies.
Not possible since there are so many different providers and formats, but you can come close.
I want it to also take my over the air signals from the rooftop HDTV antennae and act as a DVR.
That would require a system such as the units from El Gato or Miglia.
I then would like for it to be able to network to my air, iphone, etc. so that I can then access all of this content remotely from anywhere in the world or take it with me.
For that you'd probably need a Slingbox, unless someone here knows of software that would do the same job.
Then, if it could all be controlled by one remote.....perfect.
That probably will take one of the higher-end AV control systems to be able to control multiple devices, particularly multiple computers, all stored in an AV closet, from a single remote.
I hope this helps some. If you do a web search for "mac mini media center", you'll find a number of sites and articles from people who've been doing the same sort of thing you're talking about, though perhaps not in such a complex setup. Those experiences might be useful to you.
    Regards.
