Multiple schemas, DADs on one instance of Portal?

Originally posted in "General.." forum with no response, trying here....
Is creating and configuring differnet DADs and/or schemas a viable approach towards segmenting multiple portal(s) on Portal? From my reading it looks as though this could be an option to handle delegated administration, in that each "portal" on Portal would have its own dad, schema, and therefore Builder, Navigator, etc...

  • Multiple Schema Creation with One Source system Via SLT

    Hi all,
we have BW on HANA environment at our company premises, with SLT server installed
So, my Question is that is it possible to create more than one schema in HANA system with one Source system
As an example, lets say, ECC (Client 601) Source System has been connected to HANA via SLT and created Schema called SCHEMA_1 and again i want to create SCHEMA_2 by connecting same ECC (Client 601) source System.
please help me to short this out?
    Thanks
    Mirana

    Hi Mirana,
Yes, it is possible to create more than one schema in HANA system with one Source system.

  • Multiple schema use in one workspace

    Hi,
I have Apex application where I use 4 different schemas, with same privileges (select any table, insert any table, update any table, delete any table, create synonym, create any view, create view, unlimited tablespace) and roles (connect, resource).
These 4 schemas are assigned to my workspace, and they are visible in SQL Workshop and Object Browser, but when I want to create a new Form page on a table, I can choose between only two of four schemas.
What I need to make to get other schemas visible in Form wizard?

    Hi,
Each apex application have there own parsing schema [edit application attribute]
Application page components will access the schema objects directly.
    #owner#.tablename
When you need another schema to access from your page
    -> grant permission required then
    by using #schemaname#.Table name
go to Object Brower-> Select object [tablename]
click Grant tab-> choose the schema name-> give all permission->
    create
Now create form then access using schemaname.Table name
    Thanks,

  • Which is better?    Two Oracle user in one instance OR  in two instances?

    Which is better?
I could not find any benchmark for number of instances per user
    in the same machine.
suppose that you have two major Oracle user, from performance
point of view it is better to make separate instances in same
machine or keep these two users in the same instance.

    Hi.
I understand that you will use oracle for two different
    applications on the same host.
Each instance has its SGA and background processes. So, using
two different schemas(users) in one instance you can share
phisical memory between the applications. Concerning background
processes, you can start as many of them as you wish, so it's
not a problem. If you decided that one DBW is not enough, you
could configure oracle to use two or more.

  • Multiple schema used on apex?

    hi all,
i posted a thread here need some comments or suggestions for database designing
just wanted to ask comments from APEX developers as well. is it recommended to have more than one schema if i use Oracle Application Express as front-end tool?
considering that having multiple schema means multiple workspace. then there will be features that i won't be able to use such as a single sign on for all applications in this case?
what i want to know is are there any other ways to have a user sign in to one application and be authenticated in all applications despite that those applications are on different workspaces?
    thanks
    allen

    Allen,
One Workspace doesn't mean one schema. You can have multiple schemas assigned
    to one workspace.

  • Oracle Portal w/ Multiple Schemas

I posted this in the Architecture forums, but it looks like this forum may be better or yield more results for what I'm looking for.
We are just about to launch a Portal initiatve and are looking for best practices for implementing a single instance of Oracle Portal that interacts with multiple schemas. Has anyone here done this or know where I can find this type of info? I have a few questions about how this works, how scalable it is, how security is handled, yada yada yada. --Kind Regards, Derek.

Hi jlubbers. Thanks for your reply.
After some additional disucssions with our DBAs, I think I may have left a misleading post in respect to schemas. Our company acts as an application service provider to some degree. The way the databases are setup, each of our client agencies have their data stored completely separately from other agencies. The table structures are almost exactly identical (and can be considered identical for the scope of this discussion) and will never be merged together.
We want to leverage Oracle Portal as much as we can while also getting as much reuse as we can. Each time we get data from the database, we want the datasource to be dynamic based on the usergroup.
One constraint that we have is that the physical database connection must be connected as the user that's logged into the portal, so I think we have to do some type of User Proxy, but we're not 100% sure how to do that and what that means for all of our java applications.
I'll check out your other posts and see if there is anything in there that may help. Thanks for taking the time. --Derek

Hi Larry, Thanks for your reply along with Muppet Mark, If I changed the color settings originally it was not my intension, I was simply just opening the next project to work on and viola’ “missing profiles”.
Attachment (picture) 7 was my last setting for color prior to your email, and yes I was messing around with this last night comparing it to one of our old G4’s, so I can’t remember where it started out before I got my hands on it.
Attachment (picture) 8 is my current settings based on your email recommendations.
Attachment (picture) 6 is the message I receive when I open any files created prior to these changes I just made. However after I open and resave the file I no longer receive this (picture 6) message.
My question is will my color be back to where it was before the problem started last week. In looking over one of the files I opened (I design/build transportation maps btw) most of the color is where I usually have it set however some colors were fractional as if they were converted from spot colors. SO I’m not sure what to do except go through all the known colors and make sure they are where I usually would set them, or do you have a better suggestion.
Oh by the way – for all you guys that are helping lunch is on me at McDonalds on Michigan St in Grand Rapids, MI!!

  • Multiple Logical Systems in Partner Profile for one instance

Can we create multiple Logical Systems in Partner Profile (WE20) for one instance or one System?  If it is possible, can we create Logical System with respect to Plant/Country?

I am not quite sure if I understood your problem completley. But let's see...
Usually you use on on MSCS Cluster Group per SAP instance. So you have your already existing NW 7.0 ABAP stack in a separated Cluster Group, and you create a new Cluster Group for your new Java system.
You can find more information about it in this guide here on SDN:
    Link: [High Availability;
More information about High Availability Setups for SAP System can be found here on SDN:
    Link: [High Availability]
If you want to use the same database for your clustered ABAP stack and your new Java stack you can do a MCOD installation.
Please see Link: [SAP Note 388866 - Multiple Components on One Database - Installation|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/388866]
    Hope this helps.

  • Multiple Schemas under one user account with XE 10g

    Hi,
I am using (learning) XE 10g. I would like to know if it is possible to have multiple schemas under one user account and have the schemas logically separated. As of right now, I have three schemas that I am working with, each one under a different user account. This is inconvenient, because I have to logout of one user account and login to another user account simply to be able to work with another schema.
    Thanks

It isn't possible to have multiple schemas under one database user account. It is of course possible to grant rights to other database users, and or roles, in order to allow access to the tables/data from other accounts. In Oracle there is a one-one mapping between schema and user.

  • Can one instance have multiple redo threads ?

i was reading the Oracle Data guard 10g guide and it says
Determine the appropriate number of standby redo log file groups.
Minimally, the configuration should have one more standby redo log file group than the number of online redo log file groups on the primary database. However, the recommended number of standby redo log file groups is dependent on the number of threads on the primary database. Use the following equation to determine an appropriate number of standby redo log file groups:
(maximum number of logfiles for each thread + 1) * maximum number of threads
Using this equation reduces the likelihood that the primary instance's log writer (LGWR) process will be blocked because a standby redo log file cannot be allocated on the standby database. For example, if the primary database has 2 log files for each thread and 2 threads, then 6 standby redo log file groups are needed on the standby database
while Oracle's definition of redo log states the following
    Redo Threads
When speaking in the context of multiple database instances, the redo log for each database instance is also referred to as a redo thread. In typical configurations, only one database instance accesses an Oracle Database, so only one thread is present. In an Oracle Real Application Clusters environment, however, two or more instances concurrently access a single database and each instance has its own thread of redo.
this is confusing, in a typical environment where only one instance accesses a database, can we have more than one redo thread ?

Though you can create multiple threads but of no use in NON-RAC or non-parallel server configuration.
Following is the generic formula. You should consider
maximum number of threads = 1 for single instance (NON-RAC).
(maximum number of logfiles for each thread + 1) * maximum number of threads

  • One application with Multiple schemas- common application frame work

    Hi All,
I am trying setup a common application frame work in apex. Please help me.
    How to achieve this.
Creation of one application attached to different schemas at run time. So that my application maintaince is going to be easy instated of creating copies of same application.
    More details:
    1. I have one application with 100 pages pointing to a schema dev_common in one workspace APP_COMMON. I have 50 schemas with same structure of dev_common schema with different set of data ( because of large amount of data).
So I want to create one application attached to different schemas.
    2. And another thing is I have 100 users, the user can work on 1 or multiple schemas ( I mean same application with different schemas attached)
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Thank you for the reply.
    >> b) I think you have to give access rights for the dev_common and app_common to all users.
Dev_common schema is a kind of placeholder. I have 50 schemas same as dev_common because of different business requirements but the front end is same for all 50 schemas. How can we create one application used for 50 schemas instead of creating 50 applications and 50 workspaces.
    Please help me.

  • Different ways to copy data between two schemas in one instance

    Hi there,
I am searching a good way to copy data between two schemas in the same instance.
Both schemas have an identical structure such as triggers, tables, views and so on. The only difference is the purpose: one is the productivity system and one is for development.
I looked at datapump but I do not explicit want to export / import. I want to keep the data in the productivity schema as well as copy it to the other schema. Any ideas? I found out there is a copy statement but I dont't know how that works.
    Thank you so far,
    Jörn

    Thank you for your replies!
I also thought of creating a second instance for development and move the dev - schema to it. I just don't know whether our server can handle both (performance?). Anyway the idea is to have a possibility to quickly rebuild the data inside a schema without indixes or triggers, just pure data. I thought the easiest way would be to copy the data between the schemas as they are exactly the same. However if you tell me DataPunp is the best solution i won't deny using it :).
When you export data a file is created. does that also mean that the exported data is deleted inside the schema?
    best regards

  • One instance of FCKeditor for multiple fields in a page

How to implement only one instance of FCKeditor (one set of buttons) for multiple textareas in a page?

    Hello,
Is that possible with the normal FCK Editor?
I've never seen something like that on any website, but if you find such an example, I can have a look how it's done. If you see it somewhere working, we should be able to make it work in APEX as well.

  • Multiple port for one instance

    hello there,
    Here is my requirement...
If one of my master ldap went down for couple of hours and when i bring it up... all the arrowpoint traffic is routed immediately to this server and hence whatever changes happend in the secondary server was not showing up immediately in this primary master server. To avoid this issue.. can i use a different port for replication only and once the replication is completed , then i want to allow the client to access the main port.
Is it possible? Any idea? Thank you for anyone input.
    SS

    1. EITHER multi-home your network card so that it has multiple IP addresses
Launch each instance of ldap with the commandline option to bind this instance to a particular IP address
    2. OR provide alternate ports for each instance of ldap
This is easier to do . However, it is not recommended for production systems. Usually used in development.
If the scenario is production environment use first method.
If it is a development environment try the second.
See the port properties. Check the ldap port settings.
NOTE: ldap has a known bug. To fix this get into sun site. This bug is fixed.
    Thanks
