Multiple scrolling frames in MSOs

Can anyone else confirm that if you have more than one scrolling frame inside an MSO, at least one of those scrolling frames will appear blank when viewed on the iPad?
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to work around this; wondered if anyone else has encountered this...

Sound clip under scrolling frame

Trying to place a sound clip beneath a scrolling frame in article. Separately, the scrolling frame and image with sound control buttons work fine. Combining the two results in scrolling frame working but sound controls being inactive.
I've tried layers and mso with a button stating to advance to next state on release of scrolling frame.
Anyone have a solution for making this work? Thanks!

Are you trying to put the sound controller behind (on the Z-axis) the scrolling frame, or are you trying to put it below (on the Y-axis) the scrolling frame? Just want to make sure you aren't blocking the controls.
If you are putting the controller below the scrolling frame, are you sure it isn't being covered by any part of the frame, or some other overlay?
Screenshots of this would be very helpful.

Horizntal Gallery with Multiple viewable frames

I want to have a section in the body of the website that scrolls left to right but has multiple image frames revealed at the same time.
I'm trying to emulate something similar to this website:

I know that you can create a slide show with one image that scrolls with a click-able button, is there a way to edit that widget to get closer to the look I'm going for?

A workaround:
1 - set each gallery to be hidden from your primary gallery.
2 - create an iWeb site with a welcome page to your galleries.
3 - create a separate iWeb site for each user and password protect that site.
4 - in each protected site add a blank page and use one of the methods in this demo page, iPhoto/MobileMe Galleries, to add the hidden sites you want that user to have access to. You won't be able to use the widget method however since the galleries will be hidden.
5 - on your welcome page put a hyperlink for each user pointed to the protected site for that user.
Granted it's a hassle but it's one way you can give particular users access to specific galleries. Being hidden a viewer cannot go to any other gallery.

Swipe to next article in horizontal scroll. frame

Hi,
If the reader reaches the end of an horizontal scrollable frame, the swipe to the next article does not work (neither does two finger swipe work). Instead, swiping to the next page on the end of an vertical scroll. frame works fine (v29 viewer).
One more thing to fix.

Are you testing in Adobe Content Viewer or a custom viewer? We specifically did work to make swiping to the next article work inside a horizontal scrollable frame.

Drawing a marque around multiple keyframes is easy, too. You can select a property and all of its keyframes will be selected. You can performa sophisticated choices of non-continguous keyframes with command-select. You can also do lots of editing in the graph view.

"Exit" button used in multiple sequence frames

I am hoping there is a more elegant way to do this...
See the attached VI for a vastly-simplified program that typifies what I am trying to accomplish. Basically, I've got one button that I want available in multiple sequence frames. In this case, I have used an "Exit" button. When pressed, the program passes through any remaining sequence frames until it ends. The final frame "unclicks" the "Exit" button. This final frame is necessary because I had to set the mechanical action of the Exit button to "Switch When Released" because I used local variables in all sequence frames after the first one.
Is there a way I can accomplish the same functionalities of this program without using local variables and/or while setting the mechanical action of the "Exit" switch to "Latch When Released?" I am specifically looking for solutions which will work in multiple frames of a stacked sequence structure (I realized there are ways to turn the three lights on without using a stacked sequence structure, but I am not interested in doing so).
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

So many discussion was finished regarding this multiple Event structure. In your code totally 3 event structures you are using. But in a program only one Event structure is enough to operate properly. Because in LabVIEW only one event queue is there in built. So if you use more than one event structure LabVIEW will got confused and it will get queued up, even though there is no state and it will be masked some time. That's why your code taking so much of time to exit. Some times it seems like hang...

Auto starting scrolling frame

Scrolling frames are great but cannot be autostarted. That means something like a long movie credit list, as far as I understand, can only be a movie that I prepare in Flash and takes a lot of memory.
I also tried via an external html page that does trigger scrolling text automatically in my browser, but the import into DPS does not work.
Unless I am maissing something?

I'm trying to do the same (auto start a scrolling frame), but am having trouble as well. I've tried the <marquee> html tag and it works when I preview the html in my browser (Firefox) and works in the Adobe DPS desktop content viewer. However, it does not work on the iPad.
My current work around is to create the scrolling animation in Hype and import it as a local html file. Unfortunately, the scrolling animation in Hype has some jumpy spots.

How do you properly create a button in a scrolling frame?

I am having trouble getting buttons in a scrolling frame to work correctly. Here is what I have set-up. I have a multi-state object on the right side of the page. On the left, I have a text box with inline buttons inside of a content frame which is set to Pan Only. The inline buttons are set to Go To State in the multi-state object on click. When I preview the document in the Adobe Content Viewer, the scrolling works, but tapping on the buttons only brings up the navigation bars at the top and bottom. When I go back to my document, I notice that the buttons no longer have my settings to display the multi-state object (on click). Thanks for any help!

In scrollable frames, only URL-based buttons are currently supported. Buttons that jump to a slideshow are not yet supported. If all goes according to plan, the next release of tools will allow buttons in scrollable frames to jump to slideshow states.

LOCAL html file (text only) fails in a scrolling frame?

Can anyone help with this?? When I place the html file with the Web Content Overlay directly in a frame and Preview on the Desktop Viewer, the frame scrolls perfectly, but won't import into the folio with the Folio Builder. "Content generation error, the folder is invalid for import." I also tried placing the html file in a frame as above, apply Web Content Overlay, and then Pasting Into a Content frame and then using the Scrolling frame Overlay. Works fine on the Desktop Viewer, but Builder won't import the article, same error as above. I could really use help with this, my client uses a lot of html. ??

How can I fix this recurring horizontal gap in a scrolling frame?

I'm having trouble with scrolling content in a text frame. When I view the folio on the iPad, there's a white line that appears at intervals exactly spaced to the height of the frame. So if my frame is 700 pixels high, there's a white line that spans the width of the box at 700, 1400, etc. The line is about 1 pt wide, so it's not major, but it is noticeable on a retina display (especially moreso over a dark color). In the picture, look at the second to last line at the bottom.
I've tried placing PNGs instead of the native content into the frame, and it still appears. I've also tried redoing the boxes to no avail.
Any clues?

Phew, I finally have an answer for this. The problem is caused by a fractional pixel height for the scrollable frame. In the source InDesign document the height of the frame is 449.125px. Frame heights must be full pixels.
Amusingly while investigating this bug we found a similar issue in Bob's DPS Tips application. One of his frames had a fractional (.25) pixel height and exhibited the same horizontal line. When we changed the height to a full pixel the problem went away.

Table of contents and the order of multiple text frames flowing across pages

I have a multi-page document,
on each page, there are 2 text frames:
- A text frame for containing a PAGE TITLE
and
- A text frame, flowing from one page to another containing: a MAIN TITLE, a SECTION TITLE, and flowing body copy (on page 1); and another MAIN TITLE, a SECTION TITLE, and flowing body copy; (on page 2)
When I generate a TOC, using the Page, Main and Section Titles styles, the expected outcome would be:
Page Title             1
   Main Title           1
Section Title          1
Page Title             2
   Main Title           2
Section Title          2
But because the Main title and Section titles are all within one flowing text frame and the content flows across multiple pages, and each of the Page Titles are within 2 separate text frames, the actual TOC generated is:
Page Title             1
   Main Title          1
Section Title         1
   Main Title           2
Section Title          2
Page Title           2
...where the TOC lists all the TOC items from the flowing text frame in one grouping first, then the individual free standing text frame title.
QUESTION: Is the only way to automatically rectify this is to combine all the text into one flowing text frame? or is there another workaround?
Have played with the left/right, top/bottom alignment of the individual text frames; also experimented with the object layering, to no avail..

I ended up using a product called InFlow from EmSoftware. The solution offers a plugin to InDesign that builds pages on the fly when there is overset text. The setup is pretty minimual and it seems easy to use. The only drawback that the plugin MAY have is that it does not remove the pages it built if the pages are not needed from record to record. I could not test this myself since my test data did not test more then one record, but when I turned my proof set off, the pages that were built were still on screen. It does seem to work well for what we are looking to do, so if anyone is looking for something that will build pages on the fly in situations where the "Dynamic Story Handling" is not available, I would suggest looking into this.

Printing order of pages in case of multiple repeating frames

Hi,
I am developing a custom invoice report with layout (everything included in main section) spread across 2 pages.
The whole of first page (invoice document) is in one repeating frame and the other page (support document which is a matrix) is in another repeating frame.
When printing for multiple invoices I want the support document to be printed along with each invoice. Currently all the invoices are being printed together and the support documents are printed together.
Is there any solution for the above problem?
I tried the following
-Including the support document in the trailer section
-Including the whole report in one single repeating frame, but this doesn’t work for me as there is a header part in the invoice which should not print on support document
-Increasing the vertical panels to 2, but this is resulting in blank pages

Duplicate object into multiple selected frame

I’m looking for a script that will duplicate the selected object or the content of the clipboard into multiple selected layers inside a document.
I have not find any discussions around this, but I’m asking if anyone have already seen such script.

Page numbering - multiple repeating frames

Hi,
It’s a bit tricky in explaining this but I shall try to do my best.
This is an invoice report with 2 parts (everything in the main section), main invoice and summary. The main invoice is in repeating frame R2 and summary (matrix report) is in repeating frame R3. Both the repeating frames are encompassed in repeating frame R1.
Each part of the report should have page numbering (1 of 2 type) and the numbering should be independent of each other (for main invoice and summary).
Main invoice has page numbering reset (both current page number and total number of pages) at R2 and summary's page numbering is being reset at R3. The report is working fine for a single invoice but when running it for multiple invoices the output is as below

Multiple repeating frames with same source printing same Values

Dear all,
I have a report which is having more than 10 repating frames in this 4 repating frames have same source assingned,during the report execution just before printing the repeating frames at various levels am inserting records into the source table assignd to the 4 repating frames.i actually want the repeating frames to print values i just inserted in to the table,diffrent repeating frames should print diffrent values.
i have put source query like this;
select * from <table> where print_status is null.
just before printing the repeating frames am inserting values in to this table
insert into <table> values ();
print repeating frame 1
insert
print repeating frame 2
insert
print repeating frame 3
insert
print repeating frame 4
in this particular case the report is printing only one row which i have inserted before printing the repeating frame 1.(basically the query is not refreshing at various grups)
I want to print records which is inserted at each level .using one source query and 4 diffrent repeating frames.

Currently am modifying an existing report which is designed few years before, and having hell lot of frames and repeating frames and I need to include the above said portion between these repeating frames. The major reason why i tried to adopt this method is, during the execution of the report at each different intervals I am doing some calculation and then inserting the results into a global temporary table, again the same global temporary table am trying to print it in different places .Since I have multiple rows to print from this table I am using a repeating frame.
I have resolved this issue using packages and assigning values into packaged variables. But I had a gut feeling that declaring too much variables might confuse others especially some other developer.
