Multiple signatures in Mail

The instructions on how to create multiple signatures in Mail seems very straight forward. However, I can only get one signature to appear. I have created 2 signatures for two separate accounts. Yet Signature #1 always dominates and #2 never appears as a pulldown option when composing mail. Why isn't the #2 signature activating??

Signatures must be created for each account. If you create one sig in one account and a second in the other account, then each account has only one signature. You need to create the signatures you want independently in each account.

  • Multiple signature templates in IOS

    Hi,
I have both an iPhone and an iPad with multiple mail accounts, some are private and one is my office mail account (exchange). I do not want to have the same signature for my private and pro emails (not the same informations I want to had like my cell for private and my office line for work).
I can manage multiple signature with mail on Mac OSX, I can't on my IOS devices...
So please, Apple, could you add this!!! I might not be the only one who will be grateful!
    Thx

  • Multiple Signatures on Exchange/Outlook 365 with multiple connected pop3 accounts wanting sepearate signatures

I was referred here from another thread, see
http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/158/p/245124/778388.aspx#778388but not sure if this is the right forum, so please move/correct my posting if needed!
    It's a exchange/Outlook365 query, relating to signatures
I have several connected pop3 accounts to the exchange mailbox, but there appears to be no way to have separate signatures for each connected account, in fact there appears to be only 1 signature for the entire account? So when I send emails I can select
from several different from addresses, but the signature remains the same ...
On desktop outlook 2003-2010 at least, there is the ability to have default reply, default new message signatures for each account in use, is there a way to configure the exchange/outlook365 OWA to do this ?
I'm about to test if an outlook 2010 desktop client allows/recognises the server side linked accounts and allows email to be sent from them, so any tips or points on that would be welcome!
    thanks

In Outlook2010 you can set multiple signatures, yes.
If you connect to those accounts LOCALLY using POP3 you can also then set defaults for each account ... HOWEVER
if you set the CONNECTED ACCOUNTS via OUTLOOK365 via the cloud server, the local Outlook will not let you set default signatures for each account. Yes you can have signatures and manually select them, but that's not the same thing, and leads to mistakes.
The whole point of connecting the accounts via the Cloud is that the local PC is then no longer part of the critical path when away from the office, so if the local PC crashed or lost internet, then it would not affect mail delivery to the single exchange
mailbox, for access via the web or mobile devices. Quite important. A common failure we have on local outlook pop3 connections is a single password failure to login, leaves the pop up menu on screen and then stops all other pop3 mail collection from working.
We have tried for 2+ years to solve this "password failure popup", but as the passwords are saved and don't change and the problem persists, we wanted to move to the cloud ... and avoid problems when users are away.
Last but not least, if using the cloud to send a reply to a mail via a connected account, the email is not sent as the connected account (despite it being validated for send as) but sent using a "<exchange Primary email> send on behalf of <pop3
connected email>" which defeats to whole point of connecting the accounts and verifying them!
I've got to say when even Google can get this right! why can't Microsoft? It really does suck!
For a business class product having 1 signature per user within OWA is seriously deficient.
Maybe time to move our email needs to Google, as on searching the depths of old archives it does appear these issues have been raised for several years, yet nothing has improved ... shame on Microsoft.

  • Multiple signatures - only ever displays one

I have multiple email accounts - with, understandably, the need for multiple signatures.
When I hit reply from (let's call it) Account 1, the Account 1 signature is used.
When I hit reply from Account 2, the Account 1 signature is used!
It's pretty annoying. Yes the two accoutn have different signatures applied to them. If I swap the order in the 'Inbox' list Account 2's signature becomes the 'default' - so Account 1 & 2 use Account 2's signature...so it recognises they're different, it just isn't performing as expected.
What have I missed? Or am I going back to Thunderbird that just makes this so simple?

Did you rename each signature? Eg. Account 1 sig, account 2 sig?
Try Mobileme help - even if its Mail and you might not use it, they've chat help and might solve it.
Before you do, try troubleshooting by:
    1. Going to/creating a new user account.
    2. Open Mail in it.
    3. Go to Prefs>Accounts and add each of your accounts.
    4. Then try the sigs and see if the issue remains.
They'd ask you to do this anyways....

  • Outlook 2010 - can you add multiple signatures to a single email?

Basically using 2 or 3 signatures to create a quick email?  By adding a 2nd or 3rd signature to a new email.  I can't get this to work like it did in 2007.
    Thank you for any help.

    Hi,
Thank you for using Outlook IT Pro Discussions forum.
We can certainly add multiple signatures to a new email.
    In Outlook 2010, click
File > Options > Mail > Signature. We can add multiple signatures there, and set a default signature.
After that, when we compose an email, click the
Insert tab, click Signature in the
Include group, we can choose other signatures.
If you encounter any problems when trying to add the signatures, please let me know.

  • Multiple instances of Mail.app must be possible

I've seen many questions regarding the possibility of running multiple instances of Mail.app as separate processes. There seems to be much good reason to be able to do so, i.e. separating work and private mail, and very little bad reason to do so (maybe some problems when doing upgrades or backups, but I'm not yet sure of this). It also seems that it should not be so hard to do.
So far, using some web acquired wisdom, I've done the following:
    1. Duplicate mail.app:
    sudo ditto Mail.app WorkMail.app
    2. Rename the executable:
    mv /Applications/WorkMail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail /Applications/WorkMail.app/Contents/MacOS/WorkMail
    3. Use Property List Editor to set the following values in/Applications/WorkMail.app/Contents/Info.plist (Apple-S to Save changes!):
    Root/CFBundleExecutable=WorkMail
    Root/CFBundleIdentifier=com.apple.workmail
    Root/CFBundleName=WorkMail
    Root/NSServices/0/NSPortName=WorkMail
    Root/NSServices/1/NSPortName=WorkMail
    Root/NSServices/2/NSPortName=WorkMail
    Root/UTExportedTypeDeclarations/0/UTTypeIdentifier=com.apple.workmail.emlx
    Root/UTExportedTypeDeclarations/1/UTTypeIdentifier=com.apple.workmail.emlx.part
    4. Create the following directories:
    mkdir ~/Library/WorkMail Downloads
    mkdir ~/Library/WorkMail
    4. Launch the 'new' application 'WorkMail'.
    5. Create mail accounts using the application's 'wizard'.
Here is where the first problem is encountered. The new account directories and files are still created at ~/Library/Mail. Navigating to Mail->Preferences->Accounts->[account_name]->Advanced seems to offer the option to change the mail store account directory, but nothing can actually be changed here. So...
    6. Quit WorkMail.
    7. Move newly created account(s) directories (where [newaccountdirectory] is a directory named with the format: [mail_type]-[user]@[domain].[tld]@[pop].[domain].[tld]]) to the correct location:
    sudo mv ~/Library/Mail/[newaccountdirectory] ~/Library/WorkMail/
    8. Use Property List Editor to set the following values in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.workmail.plist (Apple-S to Save changes!):
    /Root/ActiveViewers/0/AttachedMailboxListExpandedItems/[0to_#_ofaccounts]/=~/Library/WorkMail/Mailboxes/...
    /Root/CurrentTransferMailboxPath=~/Library/WorkMail/Mailboxes/...
    /Root/MailAccounts/[0to_#_of_accounts]/AccountPath=~/Library/WorkMail/[new_accountdirectory]
    /Root/MailDownloadsPath=~/Library/WorkMail Downloads
    9. Relaunch WorkMail.
Everything at this point seems to work okay, **BUT** when I launch Mail while WorkMail is launched, I find that I cannot navigate into any mail folders within Mail. I receive an error message indicating that a necessary directory is locked. It seems that the locking mechanism used by the application may be hard-coded to lock ~/Library/Mail, and both instances of the application continue to take this action when launched, making it impossible for both to work harmoniously at the same time. I will conduct more testing and experimentation, but I am not yet capable of editing the application itself. If anyone can take us this last step, I'm sure there are many who would also like to be able to take advantage of the potential functionality.
    Thanks for any input!

Hopefully, there is someone with a programming background who
can take me and other who have posted similar questions through
    the final mile on this...
Well, I do have a programming background, and I must say that it amazes me that someone might want to do what you did to “solve” a problem that IMO doesn’t exist.
What exactly is it that you expect to accomplish by running multiple instances of Mail, and for which neither (1) organizing your mail using multiple mail accounts, custom mailboxes, rules, and/or smart mailboxes, nor (2) setting up separate user accounts, are acceptable solutions? I just don’t get it.
I've seen many questions regarding the possibility of running multiple
instances of Mail.app as separate processes.
I haven’t. Could you please provide a link for such a question, preferably one asked by someone who knew how Mail and Mac OS X work, i.e. a link for a case where there really was such a need?
There seems to be much good reason to be able to do so
I know of no such reasons, neither good nor bad.
i.e. separating work and private mail
I don’t see how that’s a reason to want to run multiple instances of Mail. Could you please elaborate?
Maybe if you tell us what exactly is the problem that you’re trying to solve, instead of focusing on a convoluted “solution” that doesn’t work, we could propose a solution that does...
and very little bad reason to do so
Well, if the fact that it’s so convoluted and doesn’t even work aren’t bad enough reasons, I don’t know what it is...
It also seems that it should not be so hard to do.
I wonder what makes you think so. It does certainly seem hard to me, so hard that I don’t even think it can be done without breaking something, if at all...

  • How can you put an Animated Signature in Mail...

Is it possible to add an animated signature to Mail.
I have read if you overwrite an existing signature residing in the ~/Library/Mail/Signatures folder as a .webarchive file it will work.
I have an animation I have built in Photoshop and saved as an animated gif in the Save for Web command. I understand that you need to open this gif in Apple TextEdit and save as an .html file which I can only do if I convert to rich text. Then I need to open the html in Safari and save as a .webarchive which I have done but opening in Safari just gives me all the html code and saving as a webarchive doesn't change this to the animation.
Then you need to replace the name of the file with name of an existing "fake" signature from the Mail Signatures folder. Which I have done but when I've restarted Mail and tested it, I only get the code in my signature not the animation.
I can figure where I've gone wrong.
    Can anyone help?
    David

    Ok, I explain:
Suppose you have a a family with the following members:
    - Father
    - Mother
    and 5 children : a, b, c, d and e.
So should be able to create a group called "family" composed of FM+a+b+c+de
Suppose some of the children (let's say: abc) are member of a swimming club that has weekly different training sessions and some now and then participates to inter-club swimming competitions. So all the activities of swimming club are common for a, b and c and should appear in the agenda of each of them.
Suppose the father and the mother are following dance courses. The same remark is valid here; all the activities of the dance courses should appear in both the agenda's of the father and the mother.
Suppose the following persons are member of a tennis club (with training hours and also some now and then competition): Motherc+de. The same remark is still valid all the members of the family that are member of the tennis club should see the activities of the tennis club in their own agenda.
Suppose a number of family members are member of some big band let's say:
    fathera+c+de.
And here is still always the same remark valid; all the members are supposed to be present at the repetition sessions of this big band and at its public performances.
To resume: we should be able to create for each of the different clubs a different group with the right members so that as you introduce a club activity you have to do this only once and this activity should then appear in the agenda of each of the club members.
On the other hand everything (all the persons and all their activities together) should also be visible in a global common agenda of the complete family and also in complete agenda of a selection of a number of family members.

  • Multiple Signatures for One Account

I have multiple signatures associated with a single account and would like to be able to choose which one to use when composing a new message. There's no choose signature option in the header and it doesn't appear under the header customize menu. I can go into Preferences>Signatures and choose from there which signature to make the default, but I'd like to be able to choose in a more streamlined process. Any ideas?

click on the little icon with the triangle and some lines to the left of the "From" field in a message composition window. in the resulting pulldown menu choose "customize". check the box next to "Signature" and click "OK".
now you'll get a signature pulldown menu where you can choose which signature to use with this message.

  • Better management of multiple accounts on Mail.app

When using multiple accounts on Mail.app, it is possible to have different colors for each account, so that it is easier to avoid sending email from the wrong account?

You're undoubtedly better off to set the mail on the server to forward to your central account, and only maintain one account in Mail. Trying to set up rules in Mail to download mail and then forward it is just going to become cumbersome, and runs the risk of creating some kind of infinite mail loop. (For example, someone sends something to one address, it gets forwarded but for some reason your primary account's mailbox is full. The other address gets the bounce notification and forwards it back to the primary, which generates another bounce... you see where this is going, I'm sure.

  • Multiple exchange e-mail accounts in outlook 2013

Hello. I'm trying to set-up two exchange e-mail accounts in outlook 2013 (Exchange server is synchronized with Active Directory).
Once I add second account and restart outlook I get password prompt from each of the accounts. And it keeps prompting all the time and one of the accounts do not work. Could you please assist me on how to set-up those multiple exchange e-mail accounts correctly

Setup the second Exchange account in one profile would always keep prompting usernam/password. This is limitation of Outlook profile.
To work around this, I recommand that you may use the tool as below:

  • How can I save a screenshot as a jpg? I want to create a signature using a jpg in Thnderbird as you can't have graphics as signatures using Mail

I am findinit difficult to rely on Mail so have used Thunderbird so that I can add screenshots and use different fonts in my email messages but iI now can't find a compatible programme to use to create jpgs from sreenshots which I used to be able to do with Irfanview and Photfiltre but i dont htink I can use these with a Mac. I have been told Xee is possible but will it do what I want and if so how?

Not sure what you mean by not being able to use graphics as part of your signature in Mail. I use them all the time.
Or are you referring to the recipients not being able to see the graphic when they receive the email?
You need to set Mail's Composing preferences to use Rich Text rather than plain text:
