Multiple site simultaneous upload

Is there a way to simultaneously upload open pages from multiple sites with a single keyboard shortcut or extension?
eg. I have pages A, B and C open from sites 1, 2 and 3. I make changes on all 3 pages and want a single action to upload them all, one after the other, without any further actions from me.
Thanks for any information.

No, there is no way to do this. Well, there is (sort of, depending on exactly what you are trying to do) but it requires that all three sites be on the same server and use a database to populate the pages.
I assume that you have 3 sites that are identical with different domain names? If so, the way that I have gotten around this is to just have all three sites point to the same place so that when you update one you update all three.

  • Multiple Domain files, Multiple Sites, Publishing Problems

I am frustrated beyond belief. I'm an old hand-coder, coming from BBEdit, but I've been using iWeb almost exclusively since its release, because it really is a great product for quick, easy, stylish designs.
However.... In that year, my collection of sites has grown to 12. Discovering that iWeb becomes a major dog when dealing with that much material, I found and followed the instructions - today - to separate my sites into individual domain files, and edit them individually. iWeb is much snappier and publishing goes much more quickly.
The problem? Well... after editing, "Publish to .Mac" rarely works. Only "Publish All to .Mac" will get the site online (something about an error with the index.html file). But "Publish All to .Mac", I've just discovered, DELETES the other websites that I have previous published. All day I've been doing updates and publishing my sites, only to discover that the uploads have all been wiped out by the most recent one!
I'm a big enough fellow to admit that my knowledge isn't total nor perfect - so please, would someone out there with a better handle on iWeb than I (preferably someone who actually deals with multiple domain files rather than someone who thinks they can guess the problem) please clue me into how we make use of this program non-destructively?
I suppose I could always publish everything to folders and upload it to my iDisk (which itself remains ridiculously slow after how many years now? Sheesh!), but that detracts from the elegance of the .Mac integration, the counter features, - not to mention the little fact that I'm a paying .Mac customer and this darn thing should just work, no?

    Mark:
I was where you were also. You should give iWebSites a try. It's to iWeb what iPhoto Library Manager is to iPhoto.
I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want. Just remember to put a copy of your current Domain.sites file somewhere else on your HD in case the splitting gets messed up. It went very smoothly for me and I now manage 19 or so sites.

  • Share files over multiple sites

    Hello everybody,
Is there a way to use a single file from multiple sites without having to maintain them twice?
For example I want to use the same PHP-functions in two projects (include file).
Is there a Dreamweaver-technique which allows me to use and upload a file, that is outside of the site-root-directory.
    Librarys? Templates?
    greeting

    Is there a Dreamweaver-technique
Firstly, this has nothing to do with Dreamweaver, so no, there isn't a DW technique. This depends on your webserver and operating system.
The solution also depends on what kind of file you are trying to share, and if the websites are on the save server. HTML/CSS can't normally access files outside the web root, so, for instance, you can't normally share a CSS file between websites (but there is a workaround using aliases). PHP files don't have this limitation, as long as they are on the same server.
I took a quick look at the Google hosted libraries. It looks like it is all javascript. Javascript doesn't have the same limitation that PHP has. For instance, Lots of people reference a remote copy of jQuery in their web pages.
There is a method of sharing files across servers that involves configuring the receiving server to accept the remote file. I experimented with this some years ago but can't find any info on it now. Sorry, I can't even remember what the technique was called.  It wasn't easy to get it to work with all browsers as they have different security policies.

  • Multiple sites, publish one at a time?

I have multiple sites, but when I publish them they all publish together. Can I just publish one at a time??? If not, this program is not very good..

I just want to select one SITE and
upload it, not have all the others upload too. Anyway
    to get aroud that?
It should not upload a site that has no changes. But there is no way to avoid uploading changes, unless you want to start using separate Users/username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain files for each site.

  • My site is uploaded to MobileMe, but i can't see it on-line

I've uploaded a site to MobileMe, and have had a message telling my my site is ready to view.
I've registered the domain www.chrisfelstead.com When i input my domain, i just get the registration holding page, and cannot see my site.
I sent an email to my Domain registration company UK Reg. Below is the reply I have just received from them.....(I have taken a look at the company they mention, ZoneEdit.com but am not quite sure how this works). If you can advise me from here that would be great. I obviously don't want to have to wait for another 2-3 days (or pay any more money) before i am up and running if i can help it.....
    Message from UK Reg:
    Dear chris,
Thanks for contacting us with your support enquiry.
Fasthosts do not allow a CNAME to be set, this is the reason your iWeb page is not displaying.
To set a CNAME you will need to use a 3rd Party DNS provider such as ZoneEdit.com.
Once you have opened a free account with Zone Edit, they will give you at least two nameservers, you will then need to change your domains nameservers with the new ones given by Zone Edit.
After 24 - 72 hours, you will be able to set a CNAME from the Zone Edit control panel, your site will then resolve at iWeb in 8 hours.

    Chris:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Why not just use direct name forwarding, giving them the URL for your published site. To find out what that URL is select the site in iWeb and use the File->Visit Published Site menu option. When you get to the site copy the URL from the browser's URL window and use it.
If you plan on publishing additonal sites but not give them a domain name then the use the following URL: http://web.me.com/youraccount_name/site_foldername/index.html. Then if you publish a second site to the MobileMe account it won't conflict with the domain name site.
That's because when you publish a site to MobileMe an index.html file is created in the iDisk/Web/Sites folder pointing to the index.html file in the last published site's folder. Since the default URL for MobileMe is http://web.me.com/youraccountname/ (the index.html file is not necessary for the default address) it will open the last published site. If you have only one site them there's no problem. If you have multiple sites it can be a problem if you're not using the CNAME process. I prefer the direct forwarding method as it gives me more control.

  • Adobe Acrobat pro 9.4.6 crashes when opening multiple files simultaneously.

We have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 which has been updated to version 9.4.6. we had this problem when the 9.4.5 update was applied also. It is now crashing when we try to open multiple files simultaneously.
Yesterday, I narrowed down the problem to 6 plugins:
    IA32
    ADBC
    eBook
    EScript
    HLS
    PPKLite
    SaveAsRTS
However, we discovered that that Comments and markup tool bars weren't loading. So I did a repair install on it.
Now those plugins from yesterday work and Acroform.api is causing it to crash when opening multiple files.
I did try other suggestion that involved using Icacls/cacls on dll files to no avail.
It is running on XP SP3 fully updated with plenty of RAM and HDD space.
Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?

I am not sure what's causing this problem on your machine because everything's working fine for me.
What is the version of Acroform.api on your machine now.
Do a Repair after deleting this file and see if it works.
Enable Windows MSI logging (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314852) before you do a repair, upload that log to some file sharing server, and paste its link here.

  • URL prefix under IIS for multiple sites

I'm trying to set up DW8. I webmaster a large number of sites
for clients using a variety of hosting companies and web servers. I
    use IIS under Win2K Pro.
Pre-DW, my setup has been to have a test area with folders:
    Inetpub\wwwroot\site1, Inetpub\wwwroot\site2, etc. To test I browse
to localhost/site1, localhost/site2, etc. Then I copy the files to
another part of the disk: websites\site1, websites\site2, editing
them to change directions to the include files (sometimes I work in
ASP, sometimes in PHP). Even with a utility we've made special for
this task, this is a ROYAL PAIN. Then I upload site1 to server1,
    site2 to server2, etc.
I have to do it this way because IIS will only recognize one
website at a time, and I jump around from site to site so often
it's a real pain to turn the sites on & off via the Control
    Panel.
Now I'm trying to set up site definitions on DW8. For Site1 I
say the URL is www.site1.com, the local testing spot is
Inetpub\wwwroot\site1, and it gives me this "site URL prefix for
the testing server does not match the site URL prefix specified in
the HTTP address". What do I do? What have you-all found is the
    easist approach:
    1. fool DW about where files are kept?
    2. Do the PITA switch between which site IIS thinks is
    "live"?
    3. host a local multi-site server?

    one website at a

  • Submitting site maps for multiple sites to Google

I sort of glommed on to the end of the thread "meta and google-ing...i give up," but I'll start a fresh post here with this:
I have three sites in iWeb, all of which have their own registered Go Daddy domain names and are forwarded to .mac without masking. I followed James Tseng's instructions and successfully submitted to Google and verified my "www.mac.com/user/iWeb" url.
I also successfully uploaded a site map for one of my sites (let's just call it Site 1), which is in my iWeb folder (not the Site 1 folder).
My question: I assume I can create separate site maps for Sites 2 and 3. Do they also go in the same iWeb folder as the first one? Is that possible if they're all named "sitemap.xml" or do they have to be given different names?
Also... if I want to submit these three sites to other engines like MSN and Yahoo, can I submit the forwarded domain names, or will these engines not follow the forwarding to my .mac url?
If that's the case, is it best to submit the single "www.mac.com/user/iWeb url" as I did with Google, or should I submit each site's .mac url separately?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Mitch

<As posted in the the other thread...>
    Hi Mitch....
I hope you've been finding all this helpful so far! It's always fun to see just how much feedback you can get from Google. Sort of gives you a feeling that "you've arrived". haha.
Regarding your question about sitemaps and multiple sites.... My strategy is this... I like to give Google sort of the broadest catch that I can. That's why I really suggest to people that they register the most general URL... http://web.mac.com/username/iWeb/ . You see how that really leaves the door open for the possibility of multiple sites, without having to register multiple sites. Google really doesn't care that you call them separate sites...to Google they appear as part of the same site...with the same base verified URL.
So with that registered URL, there really is only one place where the verification file and sitemap.xml file can go. And that place is in the iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/ folder. And there is really only a need for a single verification file and a single sitemap.xml file, no matter how many sites you have. The point here isn't telling Google that you have more sites...it's just about telling Google that you have more LINKS in the site that it already knows about.
So how do you do this? Just spider your new site or gather the links in your own way and then copy and paste the links (just the links section...not the first two lines or the last line of the code) into the sitemap.xml file that you have already submitted before. Then resubmit it to Google.
Does this make sense? Let me know what you think.

  • Unable to select multiple images for upload

I have Windows 7 Pro and FF 9.0
I have an online store and am always uploading product photos for items I have listed. I recently switched from XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro. I had no issues with XP. However, now that I have Windows 7 Pro I am unable to select multiple images for upload when using FF. I can only select one image at a time.
The issue is unique to FF. I have tried in several other browsers, and FF is the only one that I am unable to select multiple images from.
I had FF 8.0.1 and upgraded to 9.0... hoping that would resolve the issue. It did not. I have restarted my computer several times which has also had no effect.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
I see it is about 6 hours since you posted, so I guess you will get this when you wake. (I'll be sleeping then)
This would be better asked in the forum for Using Leopard inside the Leopard Category sating which browser and which site it was.
(it probably made lots of sense to you when you were typing it but it seems a little short in facts or workable info.)

  • Iweb 09 multiple sites and domains

I have had one iWeb site working properly for the last few years with past iweb versions with no problems. I purposely upgraded to 09' so I could publish multiple sites with individual domains. I created a second and third site and they seemed to up load ok via either the iweb FTP or Cyberduck. (Im not using Mobile me) When I'd go to the web page all I'd see was "under construction". I triple checked if erverything was loaded correctly on the server. They looked just like the original site that had been working and was in the right order.
I got on the phone with Apple yesterday for nearly 3 hours and two different techs. After all their help/suggestions I seemed to have lost my original working site. The site (.sites) shows up in the iWeb library folder and when I click on it to open, iWeb seems to be opening okay as I can see the file menu. However there is NO WINDOW. All I see is my desktop like the window was closed or something. (It wasn't) I've clicked on my other (non working) sites from the same iWeb folder and they open up just fine.
Needless to say, my original problem has now turned into two problems. Apple is confused and has turned the issue over to an engineer and I am waiting to hear back. The tech told me Apple might be adding a software fix soon because others have had uploading multiple sites issues.
Has anyone had a similar experience or suggestions? I'm proficient on the machine but this is ridiculous.

My suggestion would be to ignore the iWeb FTP until it works.
I still keep my sites on separate domain files, publish to a folder and optimize and upload with Web Site Maestro.
Until Apple fixes their FTP and adds optimization or rebuilds iWeb to create less cumbersome files, this feature is useless to anybody who wants their website to download in a reasonable time and have an even chance of loading in IE.

  • How do i change simultaneous uploads in iWeb?

'm having problems publishing my website and was advised to change the iweb simultaneous uploads settings. But how do I do this? And is this possible? Many thanks!

If you are using iWeb '08 as stated, you will be publishing to a local folder and uploading using an FTP application...

Make sure you empty the browser cache before visiting the published site. In Safari do - Option/Command/E

  • Clarify posting multiple sites...

I have searched the forum high and low without getting a clear and definite answer to this question.
Basically, I want to use iWeb to build and maintain several web sites. I have had success separating the sites using iWebSites. All I want to do is use my existing .mac server space to host several sites, which will be accessed by entering in a purchased domain name, which will forward you to that address. However, I do want one web site to be available for access directly (web.mac.com/username). The others can have a long and rediculous address, as they will be accessed by entering in another name anyhow.
Whenever I publish one site or the other, it overwrites the one I previously posted. I can't figure out how to get web.mac.com/username to count for one of the sites, and then the subsites to be at other addresses.
Is this possible using iWeb 1.1.2?
I would appreciate any help. Thanks a lot.

o.k. firstly, the only reason for using one of these multisite domain programs is if you need to keep the sites separate due to size and the added time it takes to publish when there are lots running at one time or if you are publishing them to separate webspaces. Otherwise iWeb is quite happy running more than 1 site all open at one time in the application. they are listed down the main panel on the left.
I have created a few sites from one Domain file (iWeb file) that when published all upload to .mac in 1-click, but are basically separate sites see links for examples on my .mac account.... (1 even has a separate password)
    http://web.mac.com/dandid/iWeb/Site/
    http://web.mac.com/dandid/iWeb/links%20page
    http://web.mac.com/dandid/iWeb/654/
    http://web.mac.com/dandid/iWeb/bunyan/
If all your sites require .mac features, or you want to have them ALL hosted on .mac (regardless of the original website address) then the best way is simply to keep all of them in the same iWeb Domain, i.e. just add new sites within the iWeb application, just as apple intended.
In addition to multiple sites in my main .mac area, I personally have a number of separate sites run using separate Domain files.
from these I publish to various places on the net by publishing to a local folder and using and ftp program to upload the HTML files. I only use these from separate Domain files so that I can make changes to some of the small sites without having to wait for iWeb to generate HTML for loads of sites at once.(my mac is slooooow)
You can open any number of separate sites either by manually moving the domain file within your library/application support/iWeb or by using one of the 'multisite' programs to manage them for you. Then you can use the 'publish to folder' command to prepare all the web ready html files etc to a local folder on your mac. You will then manually upload the files to your sites.
I'd read the help files for how apple actually intends you to manage more than 1 site if you still don't get it, because if you want them all on .mac anyway, it works pretty well just as they planned it.
or mail me if you want more help - [email protected]
    hope this helps

  • Updating multiple sites

I am wondering if there is a way (i.e. using a library item)
to update pages in multiple sites. I know you can do it with an
individual site, but I need to update all the sites I am working on
    at once. Example:
I use the same footer information for every site that I work
on. When the year changes or our motto changes for instance, I
would like to be able to change that item and then update in all
the sites that use that item with out going into each individual
site and changed it. Is there a way to do this? Please advise and
    thanx in advance.

you could also make a separate website to host all the
include files and then have all your other websites point to that 1
file; however I still think it is best to have an separate include
file on each site. This way if you give up control of the site, it
isn't dependent on your 1 file. Then again on the other side. Many
sites can include your 1 file requiring less uploading for
    you.

  • Switching Multiple Spaces Simultaneously

    Hello,
I am looking for a way to switch multiple spaces simultaneously (preferably with a gesture) with the new Mavericks space per monitor setup.  I know I can revert back to the previous way spaces worked, but would rather find a way to do a hybrid of the two.
Most of the time being able to switch each monitor individually is fine. In fact it might be preferable, but if I have any of my multiple monitor programs (After Effects, Premier, Lightroom, etc.) open, this behavior becomes cumbersome, and it would be great if I could switch all three of my monitors at once without having to change the setting log out and then back in.
Anyone know of an app that would allow for setting one gesture to switch the space of the curent monitor and a seperate one to switch all of the spaces?
    Thanks!
