Multiple Speaker Problem

I have seen postings from people having the same issue as me, but the solution that worked for them did not work for me, so I thought I would ask again... with my situation.
I have an iMac G5 that houses my iTunes music collection. I have a Netgear WGR 614v6 router with firmware V1.0.11_1.0.7 that supplies wireless access through my home. In my master bedroom I have an Airport Express with firmware v6.3. It has AirTunes enabled and is known as "Master" for the purposes of speakers in iTunes. My wireless network is secured with WPA2 and the Airport Express connects wirelessly to the Netgear Router. Both the Airport Express and Speakers have passwords as well. UDP has been completely disabled as well as trying just ports 6001 & 6002. Currently only those two ports are open, however, the end result is the same if I disable UDP completely.
When I select "Master" from the list of speakers in iTunes, everything works just fine. Similarly, the music plays fine locally, at the iMac.
If I select "Multiple Speakers" when it is playing locally, a box pops up with "Computer" checked and "Master" unchecked. When I check "Master", iTunes attempts to connect to "remote speakers", mutes for a moment, fails without error message, and continues to play locally.
If I select "Multiple Speakers" when it is playing on "Master", a box pops up with "Master" checked and "Computer" unchecked. When I check "Computer", iTunes attempts to connect to "remote speakers", mutes for a moment, fails without error message, and begins to play locally.
Hopefully I have been thorough enough in my description to help you all with a possible solution for my problem. Please let me know if I can provide any more details that would be of assistance.

Multiple Speaker Problem with Airport Express

I'm having an issue with my Airport Express in selecting Multiple Speakers. I have one Airport Express located in the Living Room, and have no problem playing music on that directly from iTunes. However I cannot play there and on the Mac at the same time. An error message comes up:
An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "Living Room". An unknown error occurred (-15000).
I can clear the error and then go back to listening either in the living room or on the computer, but not both.
I have tried reinstalling everything...iTunes, Airport, Mac OSX, you name it.
Any ideas anyone?

I may have a solution for you Shannon. My solution, found after a lengthly Apple Support call, applies to Tiger 10.4.11 however it likely applies to Leopard as well. The problem is with your Firewall settings which may be blocking UDP access and or have it operating under a Stealth Mode. It must be set to allow UDP Traffic.
In 10.4.11 under System preferences/Sharing/Firewall under the Advanced button there are three checkboxes "Block UDP Traffic" "Enable Firewall Logging" and "Enable Stealth Mode". Uncheck all three of these boxes and it should work.

MUltiple Speaker Option

I am trying to fix a problem in streaming internet radio through an air port express device to my stereo system and have encountered dropouts in the music. I was told to,"Set Air Tunes to the multiple speaker option and include the computer". How is this done? Thanks for any help.

You have to update your AirPort!!! Look somewhere on the apple support website for a download for your airport!!! I had this problem and i just download the update!!

Multiple Speaker box shows a locked Apple TV speaker option.

In my Multiple Speaker box under iTunes my Apple TV icon has a small image of a "Lock" in the locked position. I think this is the reason I can't play music through the speakers connected to my Apple TV. How do I unlock this?

Yes. I did. But here's an update. I just now checked my firewall settings under System Preferences and turned OFF the firewall. That solved my problem. I do not know what risk I am open to with Firewall off but I guess I hope for no consequences. Thanks for getting back to me. I apologize for not posting my solution but I just did it.

Multiple Speaker Connections

On the multiple speaker window, the Airport Express shows up, but when you click on the box to activate, it does not accept the command. On the same screen I have my AppleTV which can be checked and works fine. Both the AppleTV and the Airport Express are connected to the same wifi network (generated by the Airport Extreme-n standard). Has anyone run into this problem before? Itunes is running on a Dell desktop with Windows XP.

I have the exact same problem and am still looking for a solution.

Airtunes multiple speaker output after iTunes7 upgrade

Prior to upgrading to iTunes 7 I was able to successfully play music from my PC and select multiple speaker. I could listen to the music at the PC itself and at the remote location I specified. After the upgrade this no longer works. I can only choose 1 location to play the music. If I choose both locations the music play for about 5 second and then stops. The progress bar in iTunes continues to move as if the song is playing but no audio is heard at either location.
I'm running Windows XP Pro, iTunes 7, Airport Express firmware 6.3.
Anyone else having similar issues. I've read about the IPv6 issue with MAC's but that doesn't apply to Windows users.

I solved my own problem. After uninstalling iTunes 7 I still had the same issue. I then reinstalled 7, upgraded DirectX and my audio drivers. All issues fixed... Hooray....

HT4325 Will there be a point in time when I can multiple speaker play to my Air devices, and my AppleTvs? Or do I need redundant Air @ the tv too?

I drank the coolaid and have a MacMini command center along with all my PC's and Wifi and this and that.
I have a few Airport expresses in random locations.. bathroom.. kitchen... I also have an Apple Tv in the fam room, and bedroom.
From the Mac I see I can play songs in iTunes, click Multiple speakers, and choose all my AirExpress devices. However I cannot also mutiple to the AppleTvs. Of course I can AirPlay to a single tv, or a single AirExpress.
Question
Will there be a point in time where I can choose 'Multiple Speaker', and select all my home AirExpress class devices, and the AppleTv devices?
Current Infrastucture --- Will easily support my ambient musical desires.
     Mac Mini 2012, running 10.8.
     AirPort Expresses, newest generation.
     AppleTv 3's, 5.1 not the developer 5.1+ yet.
     Whole house each floor and exterior, one SSID wifi network, multiple bands, (cisco e3000)'s running dd-wrt with a backend WDU.
     Multiple Linksys (SRW208P)'s wired switching fabric, 802.1q and all that jazz.

Have you tried the standard fixes:
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store is in order.

No audio on apple TV... No multiple speaker button

Have apple TV and can not get music to play with screen saver.
At one time there was a multiple speaker button on iTunes. Can no longer locate it.

I just updated everything to what you see above, I have gone into system preferences, my firewall is off, and udp traffic blocking is unchecked.
I cannot see Multiple speaker mode, but it does list my computer and an external set of speakers, which I can connect to individually but cannot connect to both at the same time.
Any help would be appreciated.

While running iTunes, the small button in the bottom right corner where you choose your output. Click on this and there is an option to connect to multiple speakers. I just updated all the same things as yourselves yestarday and that is how i found it to work.

Rear speaker problem

Hi, i have 4 speakers and a subwoofer. Mainboard is asrock xtreme4 which come with realtek hd audio.
You may know the famous "rear speaker problem" on windows products. While speaker test just works fine, rear speaker never works on media player, winamp etc...
But recently it become really interesting because, that rear speakers works fine on firefox browser 22.0. So it gave me hope the solve this problem once and for all.
Right now, when i listening any thing on firefox, rear speakers works fine. But not working on Chrome and other stuff.
What firefox 22.0 made to work speakers fine?

hey have you tryed connecting other speakers to the bad connected one and see if it was not a bad channel? if so then let me know and I will look in to this problem more and try my best to get you the answers your looking for ok

Solved my scratchy speaker problem. Do a hard reset. Home,sleep button. Hold till screen goes blank.

Had a scratchy speaker problem and strange sounds when ipad shutdown. Hold the home button and sleep button till screen goes blank. Turn on after a minute or two. Fixed it on ipad 4. Good luck.

Apple replaced with new phone under warranty, had to haggle a little to get that done. Set up new one as a new phone, not from a backup, so as to not transfer any possible software issues to the new one, still re-setting up everything... all was good for the first week or so, now this one does the same thing, plus a new issue. While on calls the screen will go black, and the absolute only way to get control of the phone again is to hold both buttons down until the apple logo appears and phone restarts. Additionally, sometimes it will now become unanswerable when receiving a phone call, has only happened on vibrate, but it will go into a continuous vibrating mode and no way to answer the call or stop it, other than the two button restart. Does it on normal calling, and on 4g lte calling setting (verizon).

Hello guys, i have bought a n93 because my Qtek 8300 was damaged severly, alright so i get the n93 and i cant use it becuase of a big problem. When i make calls on the recieivng side of when ppl c all there is a flickering noise (the speaker where ppl talk to you) or when i record video the noise happens again. Im so fraustraited becuase i cant use it to make calls only on the headset, so im sure this is speaker problem right? Someone please help me and tlel me what i can do.

After adding Apple TV, my itunes multiple speaker icon (airplay?) blocks speaker output on my pc. Local speaker output will not highlight. Any ideas?

After installing Apple TV on another TV, my Itunes on my PC will not output to speakers. Apple TV added multiple speaker icon but it will not highlight "local computer". I can check box but volume bar won't open and no sound comes through although speaker mixer shows signal. Any ideas?

This same thing is happening to me on only my 2011 Macbook Pro. My other macs and iOS devices can all stream audio to my airplay devices (airport express and atv2) just fine.
On my Macbook Pro trying to play to 1 external speaker
Click the airplay button in iTunes (airplay logo lights blue)
Select ATV2 or Airport Express
Airplay logo goes back to gray
No audio is played out of airplay
On my Macbook Pro trying to play to multiple external speakers
Click the airplay button in iTunes
Select "Multiple speakers..."
Check the box next to ATV2 or Airport express
Check box "depresses" like I've clicked it, but the box is never checked
No audio is played out of airplay
Like I said, all of these things work perfectly on all of my other apple devices. It's just this one Macbook Pro that it's failing on. It seemed like it just started failing a month or so ago. It's driving me bonkers!
